Genghis Grill has good food. You add what you want to your "Bowl" and they cook it up. Make sure to add the extra sauces (easy to forget) and pile the food high! With only one (1) visit to through the line, I feel like it's a little pricey for what you get. Having the option to go through the line again, would be nice. You do get to make your bowl exactly how you'd like it though, so it's hard to complain. They also have "pre-made" options, if you just want to order your bowl, without going through the line. There is literally something for everyone. My kids really enjoy watching their food cooked on the large, round cook top.

The pros- if you create your own bowl, you get to pick exactly what you like. That's pretty much a guaranteed win. The ingredient selection is big, so lots of options. There are pre-made selections on the menu, and those looked good as well. It's fun to see your food being cooked on the grill. The biggest pro- it's really yummy! Now, the cons- it's a little on the pricey side- the medium bowl was around $15. The raw meat is unappealing, but that's kind of expected, and that issue goes away before you eat. The service, while friendly, is pretty slow.

So it's hard to lower my already poor opinion of service. But this place has managed to "succeed". We stopped going here about over a year ago (pre-Covid) because they were raising prices and making portions smaller almost on a monthly basis. And during our last visit the service was almost non-existent. We though we're would give it another try after church today. What a mistake. Don't order the Dynamite Shrimp. They are not. Four over cooked shrimp on a skewer laying on a bed of cabbage. Don't expect to see your waitress again after she takes your order, they are congregated at the hostess stand all in their phones. If you need refills on water or lemonade; you can take your glass to the bar, but she will tell you she'll get to you in a minute (she is scrolling through her phone too). Food okay, service was deplorable.

Nothing to be thrilled about. Authentic would have had thin shaved meat and not this many choices for veggies.

You can get all the common dishes here but you can also get some unusual dishes that are very authentic. My grandson once ordered jelly fish. You can't get that at very many local restaurants. Another thing I like is that they have a couple of large round tables with lazy Susans. Our extended family sat at one of those tables once. It was fun putting the things we wanted to share on the lazy Susan and being able to spin it around and try what we wanted. It made for fun conversation talking about the different dishes. That was when our grandson ordered jellyfish. The restaurant is fairly small but the large tables make the restaurant good for groups. I think this would be an excellent place for a Yelp event. They have a lunch menu but you have to ask for it. It includes some of the popular Asian dishes for $9:95. They have smaller portions that come with a choice of soup or egg roll. Danny and I asked to see the lunch menu, but decided to order off the main menu. We split Crispy Tofu with garlic sauce and egg rolls. I liked the presentation of the egg rolls. They were cut diagonally and arranged nicely on the plate. The tofu dish was quite tasty. Next time, I plan to get Mei Fun. I have had it here before and loved the variety of flavors. The service wasn't terrible but it wasn't wonderful. We got our food in a timely manner, but we felt rushed to order and she didn't check to see if we needed anything or refill our water glasses. Service here has been excellent in the past. I am glad we came back to Chengdu and were reminded of how much we like it. We will be back soon.

My group and I ordered about 13 dishes total, and that didn't even make a dent in their big menu. Overall, the food was good, the vibes were nice, the staff were nice but the service was a bit slow. As soon as we got there, they stayed getting very busy, so we do have a little grace to the staff. There were some standout dishes the I will absolutely get again if I come back, some decent dishes that weren't bad or amazing, and some dishes that will not be ordering again. Must try: - Soup dumplings were spectacular, very flavorful and greatly priced. - Shrimp dumplings in chili oil, the sauce wasn't really a chili oil but a sweet soy sauce, I wasn't mad because it was delicious and the shrimp was meaty and flavorful. - Beef flat noodle stir fry was delicious, stand out dish. The noodles were flat and wide and flavorful, and the beef was tender. It had this amazing charred wok hei flavor that elevated the dish, and very reasonably priced. - Fish fillet with eggplant in clay pot was delicious as well. Flavor profile is more on the subtle side, but the fish and eggplant worked together so well and were very soft and tender. The sauce was this light black peppered soy sauce that had a hint of sweetness, amazing over rice. - Fried rice was delicious as well. They cooked it in a WOK so it had that charred wok hei flavor that I've never tasted at any other restaurant. That extra flavor alone makes it worth trying. Dishes that missed: - mapu tofu had to much sezchuan, it was a overwhelming flavor and it overpowered the entire dish leaving a numbing soapy sensation. It didn't have much flavor besides the sezchuan. - Braised pork belly, I wished it was more tender and had more flavor, it was salty and didn't have much depth to the sauce.
