Genki Sushi at Maui Mall is quick and fun. The place is super easy to get to-tons of parking-and it's right by Fun Factory and just down the way from Guri Guri, so you can't miss it. You can check in with a QR code, but when we showed up, one of the staff came out to tell us to sit wherever we wanted. Ordering is a breeze with their online menu, and the best part? Your sushi gets delivered by a bullet train on a conveyor track. We tried the crab salad, uni, seared salmon, and a couple maki rolls. While conveyor belt sushi is not my preferred sushi, the food hit the spot. They have lunch specials Monday through Thursday for just $5.99, and if you want more than sushi, bentos are on the menu too. The staff swing by to refill drinks, but mostly, it's just you, the sushi, a conveyor belt, and a robot. Paying is simple-just head up to the register when you're done.

Its really nice having the app and reserve your table ahead of time, There was not a lot of people inside so we got our food in time. The surroundings were not that loud we were able to hear each other. Finally the teriyaki bowl was back, it's been a quite while out of order. My kids likes those new robot, but when we say no ice still comes with ice. I miss how we used to have those cheap gray plate. The team is really nice and good at refilling the drinks

Super fun, the kids loved the robot and train food delivery. Make sure you come on a weekday when there's no line. Great food and great prices

I honestly haven't been to Genkis in years and since my little one and I bumped into my bestie and her granddaughter at Target last night after work, this was a last minute girls date. The wait wasnt too long and everything was great. We will be back. Check them out.

Just not worth it!!! What a mess this place is on a weekend. Sushi comes out burnt or just spilled over and sloppy.

    1. Gotta go online and reserve a seat. 2. Waiting line is long bc they take FOREVER to clean tables. 3. Food is way overpriced for small rolled sushi. They skim out on the green onions and ginger. 4. Tea cup is dirty. Make sure to scrape the cup bc of build up. 5. They take FOREVER to ask if you need a refill on drinks.

It's been years since I visited this Genki Sushi location and they have definitely upgraded since my last visit. I highly recommend joining the waitlist prior to arriving so there isn't a wait. We walked in without a reservation 1 hour before closing and waited maybe 20 minutes for a party of 5. My kids enjoyed ordering on the tables and having the bullet train delivery their orders. They do have a seasonal menu. I tried the hamachi carpaccio and it was delicious! We will definitely be back on our next trip to Maui.

As soon as we landed, all of us want sushi somehow. Upon checking, we decided to try this place. The staff gave us a piece of paper with a barcode that we have to scan to see the menu and to place our order. It's very easy and straightforward. Frankly, if you're not familiar with this system, you'll have a hard time ordering to navigate, especially if the staff unhelpful. Maybe that's why this place has such bad reviews. Our staff was great, she explained it clear. The foods we ordered tasted great and the portions were good for us. The ambiance is very casual with local vibe. This will be one of our sushi places when we're visiting Maui, before going to our resort.

Excellent service. Wish they had unagi/saba though... always a good stop for us when we don't know where else to eat at.

I helped an elderly woman who was struggling with it. They gotta get the door springs loosened up The server brought us miso soup right after we sat down. That was a pleasant surprise. However, it was just the bowl of soup, not including the traditional cover with green onion on top. The soup was very good, not too strong and served at the proper temperature. The previous owners served it scalding hot. I could not eat it for several minutes unless I put some ice cubes in it. Also, no salted cabbage was served, unlike the past. I ordered the Teishoku A with teriyaki pork, sashimi, vegetable tempura and shrimp tempura. As my photo shows, it was well presented. The sashimi was very good quality with 3 thick slices. The teri pork was great. Not too salty, as was the case in the past. The pork was cut to a good thickness, not paper thin, and no gristle. Big scoop of rice. The veggie tempura was huge! The shrimp tempura was about the same size as in the past. The tempura batter was cooked perfectly. Crisp, light and no bad, old oil taste, as happened with the previous owner. It was very much hit or miss. You just hoped the day you went they used fresh oil. If not, yuck . The price was $25.99, I believe the least expensive of the Teishoku choices. My friend had the spare ribs. He said it was good and as the photo shows, it was a generous portion. Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos of the menu, but as I recall, most plate lunches run in the high teens to low 20's. The Teishoku trays start in the mid 20's and run up to the high 20's. I believe the ala carte entrees run from the high teens to high 20's. Overall, great service and the taste and quality of the food might be the best I've ever had there in the 40+ years I've patronized the restaurant.

Most known for their Teishoku (Set Meal) Trays that include Rice and Miso Soup. I got my favorite, Teishoku B which includes Teriyaki Steak, Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura, and a few slices of Ahi Sashimi. I wanted my steak Medium Well and it was perfectly done and the teriyaki sauce was a good balance of tangy and sweet. Pour a few drops of Shoyu on the Sashimi and dip it in the Hot Mustard sauce in the middle of the tray. The star of my tray is the Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura. They fillet the shrimp so it was a HUGE shrimp tempura piece along with strands of carrots in tempura batter, tempura asparagus and a tempura eggplant. It was so crispy and tasty. I've been to Japan and this is Japan level tempura and the best on Maui, hands down. I came around 1 pm and they close at 1:30 pm and I got my order in 5 minutes with maybe 4-5 parties seated around me. The aunties were attentive and helpful. Make sure to visit this hidden Japanese gem for lunch or dinner!

I really love katsu, so I got the Pork Katsu plate, which comes with a scoop of rice and your choice of side (I chose potato salad). I loved the crispiness of the pork katsu, it came nice and hot. The Japanese rice was carb heavy, just how I love it. The potato salad was good, although I typically crave a macaroni salad with my Hawaiian plated food. There was a huge line when I arrived, and I was afraid, very afraid. However, it was a bunch of people standing around who had already ordered (another sometimes bad sign). But, I actually ordered without any line, and those people quickly dissipated. My food probably came within 10 mins. In that 10 mins, we ate the poke first, then got our Ichiban order quickly after. The two restaurants are so close together by driving, that I would highly recommend pairing the two restaurants together, if you want to share food items, and try different Hawaiian things, without making an extra trek. Would definitely recommend it right after getting off the airplane too! I can't say it was worth driving here all the way from Kaanapali though, since there's nowhere to sit down. There's a parking lot right at the restaurant itself, and it's just to-go, but you are allowed to eat in the parking lot. So can't really say much about ambiance. The service was quick though, and credit card was allowed. Not bad.
