Seasonal specials

Genki Sushi at Maui Mall is quick and fun. The place is super easy to get to-tons of parking-and it's right by Fun Factory and just down the way from Guri Guri, so you can't miss it. You can check in with a QR code, but when we showed up, one of the staff came out to tell us to sit wherever we wanted. Ordering is a breeze with their online menu, and the best part? Your sushi gets delivered by a bullet train on a conveyor track. We tried the crab salad, uni, seared salmon, and a couple maki rolls. While conveyor belt sushi is not my preferred sushi, the food hit the spot. They have lunch specials Monday through Thursday for just $5.99, and if you want more than sushi, bentos are on the menu too. The staff swing by to refill drinks, but mostly, it's just you, the sushi, a conveyor belt, and a robot. Paying is simple-just head up to the register when you're done.

Its really nice having the app and reserve your table ahead of time, There was not a lot of people inside so we got our food in time. The surroundings were not that loud we were able to hear each other. Finally the teriyaki bowl was back, it's been a quite while out of order. My kids likes those new robot, but when we say no ice still comes with ice. I miss how we used to have those cheap gray plate. The team is really nice and good at refilling the drinks

Super fun, the kids loved the robot and train food delivery. Make sure you come on a weekday when there's no line. Great food and great prices

I honestly haven't been to Genkis in years and since my little one and I bumped into my bestie and her granddaughter at Target last night after work, this was a last minute girls date. The wait wasnt too long and everything was great. We will be back. Check them out.

Just not worth it!!! What a mess this place is on a weekend. Sushi comes out burnt or just spilled over and sloppy.

More rice than tuna.

1. Gotta go online and reserve a seat. 2. Waiting line is long bc they take FOREVER to clean tables. 3. Food is way overpriced for small rolled sushi. They skim out on the green onions and ginger. 4. Tea cup is dirty. Make sure to scrape the cup bc of build up. 5. They take FOREVER to ask if you need a refill on drinks.

It's been years since I visited this Genki Sushi location and they have definitely upgraded since my last visit. I highly recommend joining the waitlist prior to arriving so there isn't a wait. We walked in without a reservation 1 hour before closing and waited maybe 20 minutes for a party of 5. My kids enjoyed ordering on the tables and having the bullet train delivery their orders. They do have a seasonal menu. I tried the hamachi carpaccio and it was delicious! We will definitely be back on our next trip to Maui.

As soon as we landed, all of us want sushi somehow. Upon checking, we decided to try this place. The staff gave us a piece of paper with a barcode that we have to scan to see the menu and to place our order. It's very easy and straightforward. Frankly, if you're not familiar with this system, you'll have a hard time ordering to navigate, especially if the staff unhelpful. Maybe that's why this place has such bad reviews. Our staff was great, she explained it clear. The foods we ordered tasted great and the portions were good for us. The ambiance is very casual with local vibe. This will be one of our sushi places when we're visiting Maui, before going to our resort.

Excellent service. Wish they had unagi/saba though... always a good stop for us when we don't know where else to eat at.

They've been part of the island's food scene for over 12 years now, and I still remember their off-the-beaten-path spot on Hobron Avenue in Kahului. You would have never guessed there was delicious food being served up there, but those who knew, knew. These days, you can find them in Kahului parked at Da Tambayan Corner on Lono Avenue, or sometimes popping up out at Ho'okipa. Now, full disclosure -- I don't eat raw fish, so I can't personally vouch for their poke bowls, but that's what they're known for and I've had a number of friends and family enjoy it. What I can vouch for, though, is their fried poke -- perfectly seasoned ahi cubes, floured and fried, served over rice and lettuce, and drizzled with a creamy mayo aioli. Get it hurricane style for extra sauce and furikake seasoning -- it's delicious and gives it an extra boost as once in a while it's on the drier side. Another favorite is the poke bake, which is just as satisfying and generously portioned. Started getting this recently and it hits the spot. Highly recommend either dish, especially if you're like me and prefer your fish cooked. And whatever you do, don't skip the furikake fries -- curly fries topped with aioli and furikake. SO good. Beyond the great food, my team has worked with Like Poke for company events, and they're always a hit. Friendly service and consistent quality eats that keep people coming back -- they're a favorite among locals for a reason.

We tried the Unagi Donburi, Shrimp Donburi, Samurai Roll, California Roll, Gyoza, and Cucumber Salad. The donburi does not have the egg mixture over the rice so they are more like bowls. The rice is really fluffy and it also comes with an avocado salad. The shrimp is cooked tempura style and is crispy and yummy. The unagi was grilled and tasty too. The sushi is really good and fresh. We enjoyed the gyoza and the cucumber salad was sliced super thin and so refreshing. The food reminded us of the food we ate in Japan and tasted authentic. The flavors are subtle but flavorful. The prices are what you would typically pay in a Japanese restaurant. It's nice to have another good option for Japanese food on Maui!

The gyoza was nice & crispy & served with a sweeter sauce. Filling was good & pretty generous. Pricing was reasonable. What drew me in was pictures of the uni which looked super good and overall reasonable prices. Uni was fresh enough but just lacked that bright brininess that I was hoping for. It just tasted kinda bland. I wanted to order the Aloha roll which was supposed to be albacore outside, spicy tuna inside. But they were out of albacore, so I had them make the seared tuna roll with seared ahi outside and subbed spicy tuna inside (normally has imitation crab which I don't care for) which they upcharged me for. On a side note--a lot of their specialty rolls have imitation crab which is kinda weak in my opinion. Anyway I guess the upcharge would have been okay but the rolls were super small! I have never had rolls this small before. I had to order another roll, to get somewhat full. I probably could have had a 3rd roll without getting super full but I didn't want to throw good money after bad. They should call this place Miso Phit, because there rolls are super thin!

Wow! Wow! Wow! Umi…read moreSushi absolutely exceeded my expectations! I can't believe I waited this long to try it. The Ahi Katsu was next level -- perfectly crisp on the outside, tender and flavorful inside. The combination of their house-made aioli, katsu sauce, and unagi sauce was to die for. Every bite had the perfect balance of texture and richness. I also loved the Agedashi Eggplant. I'm usually not a big fan of bonita flakes or that smoky flavor profile, but they executed it beautifully -- light, balanced, and not overpowering at all. Total winner. On top of the amazing food, the service was fantastic and we even scored perfect parking, which always feels like a bonus. The open air dining room has several tables that can be put together for parties of 8. When we dined there it was very busy. I spoke to our young server who almost seemed overwhelmed with tables. Although she did a great job juggling her guests. She recited specials of the night and we ordered a fair amount of dishes for our large party. Umi combines modern local dishes with Japanese flavors, sashimi and sushi rolls. Several dishes utilize the deep fat fryer for textures and depth. We had a good variety: Agedashi Eggplant very crispy and flavorful spices and a dashi sauce that kept its crispness. Calamari Salad and Calamari had crispy tendrils of squid legs with a sauce that tied it together. Panko Breaded Pork Belly served with a thick Katsu Sauce was decadent. Fried Nabeta was entirely edible and very crispy. Large bed of rice, puréed ginger, and a delicate dashi-soy sauce. Truffle Edamame and Sushi rolls were good. Tuna bolognese with spaghetti in a light tomato sauce. Oyster shooters had a good proportion of spiciness with a raw oyster. The special Modern Sushi brought 5 Goteburg Sausage Rolls, an inverted Musubi with salty fried sausage encasing rice. Many folks bring coolers of beer or wine to complement the food. Service was efficient even though the restaurant was filled.
