We found Sushi Ko by accident while shopping at the Cannery Mall. We were not expecting a lot, but we were in for a wonderful surprise. The food was excellent in every way. I got the salmon poke and it was very fresh and more than enough serving. Hubby got the yellow dragon roll and he loved it that he did not even wait for me to take a pic before taking a bite! We also ordered the calamari and that was one of the best i have ever had. The breading was so light and the dipping sauce was great! The server was nice. And the seating area was clean and quiet. I would be coming back very soon. Maybe for the next meal. I absolutely recommend!!!

Lahaina Sushi Ko is the best kept sushi secret on Maui! As a foodie & sushi lover, some of the more highly reviewed sushi spots on Maui just haven't kept their A game, as their reviews have gone up, their food quality has gone way down. So I started searching for better, well in the Lahaina Cannery Mall is a food truck area and here I found sushi nirvana. Lahaina Sushi Ko lost their restaurant in the Lahaina Fire and they are operating out of a food truck. Their sushi is extraordinary. Their avocado salad with mixed greens and ginger dressing is amazing. We ate there for lunch and dinner the first day we discovered them, and when I get back to SoCal I'm going to be dreaming about our sushi experience, it's that good!

Grabbed some takeout from their food truck. We ordered the rainbow roll, supreme rainbow roll, and salmon and unagi nigiris. Food was fine but we didn't enjoy the rice that the sushi came with. Portions were really big, and service was great. Prices seem lower than other sushi restaurants/food trucks in the area.

Decent and tasty, a local favorite! It is rare to find a good sushi bar. Sushi Ki can fulfill your needs with satisfaction

So. Much. Food. Normally we (my husband and I) order 4 rolls to share. Im not sure if we were both just not as hungry as normal or what - half the rolls came home with us. The volcano roll was especially amazing - presentation and flavor. Service was super quick, very polite and efficient. Location is adorable with less than 6 tables and 4 bar stools. Definitely glad we got here when we did. Open air - technically would qualify as outdoor seating. I'm not sure I would rate this as the BEST sushi I've ever had, but it's definitely top 7 for sure.

    Volcano and rainbow roll. Delicious

Really good selection of rolls. Rainbow roll, volcano roll. These were just great! Good selection of beer too

Lahaina Sushu Ko is excellent. We haven't been back in Maui since COVID19 pandemic hit. Our most recent Sushi Ko dinner was in Thanksgiving week 2019. Given our numerous previous experiences we choose to grab a "to go" meal for our group of 4. We ordered our favorites from previous Yelp postings. Bottom line even through this is a petite Cafe tucked off Front Street, it's service, sushi is exceptional. As "Sushi Snobs" from San Francisco we KNOW great Sushi. This was the first day Sushi Ko was opened in 8 months and we expected and accepted some delays. However, as I fetched our car down by the Banyan Tree a few blocks away our teenage son delt with a rude women customer who was yelling and screaming at the servers and staff. After she dropped the $@%@^@ bomb numerous times he told her to "chill lady you are in Maui" he then verbally attacked him and others. Another couple tried to calm the young lady down. Needless to say, my son was very upset and want us to give beyond our 20% tips given our server "Cookie" had taken so much abuse. We did. We eat the Sushi at our place and will always return!

Sushi-ko is slightly tucked away inside the Laihaina strip and not directly part of the bayside frontage. The space is technically outdoors but well covered and comfortable. There are no reservations you can make from Sushi-ko and seating is relatively limited due to the small space (+ COVID). We were able to grab the last seats on our walk-in ~6:00pm but would have a Plan B if you plan on showing by later in the evening. The fish and sushi itself is very good - fresh and soft. Instead of ordering by the piece, we opted for the Sashimi Platter which also had a great bang-for-the-buck ($30 for 50 pieces). To add some savory warmth and a bit of rice, we opted for two of the Unagi Hand rolls which did not disappoint - the Unagi was richly savory. There are a mix of parking spots (free public, paid private) - at the time there was a $5 and $10 lot adjacent to the restaurant.

    Sashimi deluxe platter - deliciousness!!

Our 15 year anniversary and we didn't know where to go. We stopped by a different sushi place about 15-20 mins away from here and it was an hour wait. Honestly, we were all so happy it worked out that way. They were such kind people at this place. There was a cool little outdoor seating area they sat us in. It was a nice large table which was perfect cause we ordered quite a bit of food. We ordered edamame, the sashimi deluxe platter, spicy tuna hand roll, salmon hand roll, Cali roll, and a crunch roll (I think a few other things also, but that's I recall, lol. The food came out pretty quick, which was awesome cause we were all really hungry. Food was fresh and tasty. They brought everything out in portions so it doesn't flood the table. We enjoyed every little bit of it. Service was great also! Literally service with a smile. The chefs to the host to the waitresses all were smiling and so happy. I totally recommend this place. They made our anniversary dinner totally worth it!

Food- my cousin told me that Star Noodle had changed, that it's only dim sum for lunch, that the dim sum is super expensive and not very good. I have always had delicious meals here and thought I'd stick with dinner. Turns out, it didn't matter. Dinner might as well be dim sum too. Food came out way too fast. I actually timed the table in front of us, from the time the waitress left the table to the first few dishes coming to the table, just over 3 minutes! There were some dishes I enjoyed (miso butterfish and pohole salad), but two former favorites were huge disappointments (bao buns and the garlic noodles), two dishes I didn't care for (shrimp tempura and adobo ribs), and one that was just meh (string beans). The table to our right didn't take any of their leftovers and they had quite a bit too. Was very disappointed overall. My aunt enjoyed her meal, but I felt bad she didn't experience the Star Noodle from before... normally our first and last meal in Maui, but I cancelled our second dinner for next week! The new location (just next door) was nice, but it didn't make up for their mediocre food.

If you came to West Maui, and didn't go chocolate tasting at Ku'ia, did you really visit Maui?…read more I mean, I had an amazing time on my vacation in Ka'anapali - but this was the absolute foodie highlight, better than any restaurant and a lot more reasonable! We skipped the pricey farm tour (we did coffee farm tours last year and are farmed out) and went straight to the chocolate café. They will give you a five piece tasting for free, either a dark, milk, or sugar-free flight. But why would you come here and just take... When you can also give back to folks in Lahaina rebuilding? So we got two free flights, one milk and one dark. My sweetie added on a drink, a pastry, and some very tasty chocolate and salted caramel gelato. I went with a make your own alcohol pairing, which was so much fun and very reasonable. For about $17, I got a shot of coconut rum with two chocolate pairings and a shot of premium Martiniquan JM volcanic rhum Agricole with another two chocolate pairings. And then I still had my free five pieces. What an amazing taste adventure, for cheaper than the price of a cocktail at a hotel bar or even a locally owned foodie place? I don't want to mess up your tasting - so you pick your favorites! But I normally don't like rhum agricole - and the pairings were such an amazing flavor adventure. Honestly, this is my number one recommendation in West Maui. Give the folks some business and have an amazing time! Oh, and they have jazz on Sunday nights' but I'm sure it's more crowded than than popping in during the day on a weekday. And also: the second floor tasting room has panoramic views of the ocean and around Lahaina. Check them out!

It starts at their building in Lahaina, which has a little café/coffee shop, plenty of chocolate for sale, and a rooftop experience that looked interesting but we didn't get to try. By the time we finished the tour, the kids had reached the "we have successfully experienced enough things today" portion of the vacation. Fair enough. From there, you take a fun little ride out to the cacao farm, and that's where this became much more than "let's go eat some chocolate." Our guide, Andrew (I'm about 95% sure I'm remembering his name correctly!), was fantastic. He seemed genuinely interested in cacao, the process, the company, and what they are doing there. That makes such a difference. He talked about how cacao is grown and processed, the history behind Kuʻia, and a little about founder Dr. Gunars Valkirs and his rather fascinating path to chocolate. Then, of course, there was the tasting. Lots and lots of little squares of chocolate. This is educational work I was willing to undertake. Unfortunately, I can't tell you which particular varieties were my favorites because apparently I was too busy eating them to take adequate scientific notes. What I can tell you is that there really wasn't one I disliked. What surprised me most was how much flavor there could be in chocolate that wasn't buried under a mountain of sugar. The differences and complexity of the cacao actually came through, and it made me think about chocolate completely differently. The chocolate sample they gave us back at the counter was also fantastic, as was the coffee drink we ordered. My only regret is that we didn't buy more chocolate before leaving. Be warned, though: apparently this tour has side effects. I went in expecting a fun Maui family activity where we'd learn a few things and eat some chocolate. I left wondering about cacao varieties, fermentation, processing, climate, chemistry and several other questions that absolutely nobody in my family asked me to investigate. It's been a few weeks and I'm still going down the rabbit hole. Five stars. Great guide, fascinating process, excellent chocolate, fun for the family, and potentially hazardous to anyone predisposed to acquiring new interests while on vacation.
