Lahaina Sushi Ko is the best kept sushi secret on Maui! As a foodie & sushi lover, some of the more highly reviewed sushi spots on Maui just haven't kept their A game, as their reviews have gone up, their food quality has gone way down. So I started searching for better, well in the Lahaina Cannery Mall is a food truck area and here I found sushi nirvana. Lahaina Sushi Ko lost their restaurant in the Lahaina Fire and they are operating out of a food truck. Their sushi is extraordinary. Their avocado salad with mixed greens and ginger dressing is amazing. We ate there for lunch and dinner the first day we discovered them, and when I get back to SoCal I'm going to be dreaming about our sushi experience, it's that good!

Decent and tasty, a local favorite! It is rare to find a good sushi bar. Sushi Ki can fulfill your needs with satisfaction

Check out their "food truck" INSIDE Lahaina Cannery Mall. Loved the sushi combo #1. Super fresh and delicious.

So. Much. Food. Normally we (my husband and I) order 4 rolls to share. Im not sure if we were both just not as hungry as normal or what - half the rolls came home with us. The volcano roll was especially amazing - presentation and flavor. Service was super quick, very polite and efficient. Location is adorable with less than 6 tables and 4 bar stools. Definitely glad we got here when we did. Open air - technically would qualify as outdoor seating. I'm not sure I would rate this as the BEST sushi I've ever had, but it's definitely top 7 for sure.

    Volcano and rainbow roll. Delicious

Really good selection of rolls. Rainbow roll, volcano roll. These were just great! Good selection of beer too

Our 15 year anniversary and we didn't know where to go. We stopped by a different sushi place about 15-20 mins away from here and it was an hour wait. Honestly, we were all so happy it worked out that way. They were such kind people at this place. There was a cool little outdoor seating area they sat us in. It was a nice large table which was perfect cause we ordered quite a bit of food. We ordered edamame, the sashimi deluxe platter, spicy tuna hand roll, salmon hand roll, Cali roll, and a crunch roll (I think a few other things also, but that's I recall, lol. The food came out pretty quick, which was awesome cause we were all really hungry. Food was fresh and tasty. They brought everything out in portions so it doesn't flood the table. We enjoyed every little bit of it. Service was great also! Literally service with a smile. The chefs to the host to the waitresses all were smiling and so happy. I totally recommend this place. They made our anniversary dinner totally worth it!

Lahaina Sushu Ko is excellent. We haven't been back in Maui since COVID19 pandemic hit. Our most recent Sushi Ko dinner was in Thanksgiving week 2019. Given our numerous previous experiences we choose to grab a "to go" meal for our group of 4. We ordered our favorites from previous Yelp postings. Bottom line even through this is a petite Cafe tucked off Front Street, it's service, sushi is exceptional. As "Sushi Snobs" from San Francisco we KNOW great Sushi. This was the first day Sushi Ko was opened in 8 months and we expected and accepted some delays. However, as I fetched our car down by the Banyan Tree a few blocks away our teenage son delt with a rude women customer who was yelling and screaming at the servers and staff. After she dropped the $@%@^@ bomb numerous times he told her to "chill lady you are in Maui" he then verbally attacked him and others. Another couple tried to calm the young lady down. Needless to say, my son was very upset and want us to give beyond our 20% tips given our server "Cookie" had taken so much abuse. We did. We eat the Sushi at our place and will always return!

Sushi-ko is slightly tucked away inside the Laihaina strip and not directly part of the bayside frontage. The space is technically outdoors but well covered and comfortable. There are no reservations you can make from Sushi-ko and seating is relatively limited due to the small space (+ COVID). We were able to grab the last seats on our walk-in ~6:00pm but would have a Plan B if you plan on showing by later in the evening. The fish and sushi itself is very good - fresh and soft. Instead of ordering by the piece, we opted for the Sashimi Platter which also had a great bang-for-the-buck ($30 for 50 pieces). To add some savory warmth and a bit of rice, we opted for two of the Unagi Hand rolls which did not disappoint - the Unagi was richly savory. There are a mix of parking spots (free public, paid private) - at the time there was a $5 and $10 lot adjacent to the restaurant.

This is our 3rd times coming back here. Super delicious fresh and friendly service. Reasonable price even though their location is right old town . I will have to visit here every time I go to Maui .

4.5 stars for this delicious sushi meal in Maui. We researched to see where some good sushi spots were on Maui and found this gem nestled away in Lahaina, Maui. Minimal seating but good sushi. Friendly staff and no wait, we sat at the bar and watched the magic happen. Sake to start, we chose an unfiltered Nigori, Sho Chiku Bai. After perusing the menu we chose a couple rolls and six nigiri. The yellowtail and salmon nigiri were uber fresh and melted in your mouth. We also enjoyed the yellow dragon roll made with shrimp tempura, avocado, cream cheese topped with fresh salmon and salmon roe. Snow White was our last roll, shrimp tempura, cream cheese, avocado topped with white tuna and tobiko. Very nice presentations and quality food. Only gripe is the $22 for a roll, and only open air seating? I guess when in Maui...

This is my favorite sushi spot in Lahaina. The food is very fresh, and is the definition of great veg sushi! I got an Inari, veggie roll, and a avocado roll veggie hand roll. I've been here in the past when I are fish, and can tell you the fish items here are great as well- and though most most people will probably get fish sushi, but I came here to say that the veggie sushi here hits the spot too! The veggie roll has real vegetables like radish and carrots, not just the typical cucumber/avo mix. The sushi is crafted artfully and presented in a very beautiful manner :)

Located in the middle of an outdoor mall, there's not much privacy but it is pretty cute. Not a lot of seating, maybe around 4 tables for four and a bar top. We ordered: - Unagi Roll $10 - Ahi Poke $18 - Thai Iced Tea $5 - Asahi $7 Sushi is good. Poke is fresh but not that signature Oahu flavor-gasm. I'd recommend to pass on the poke but definitely get the sushi.

Ate a couple rolls before taking picture of the dragon roll.

We did walk-in on a weekday night since we spontaneously craved Asian food and was seated within 20 minutes. The service was good. My wife and I ordered a dragon roll, miso soup, poke bowl, and spicy handroll. Overall decent and standard, nothing fancy or spectacular. This is best Asian restuarant on Front Street.

We ordered the Unagi Roll ($29), Shaking Beef Noodles ($48), and the Kanpachi Kama ($37), which wasn't actually on the menu. They had run out of the Hamachi Kama (I overheard they only get about 3-5 per day), so they offered Kanpachi instead -- and it ended up being a great choice. While the prices are definitely on the higher side, that's expected at a five-star resort in Maui. Service was excellent, the atmosphere was stunning, and the food was delicious all around. For the views, quality, and overall experience, it was absolutely worth it. I'd recommend Japengo to anyone visiting Maui!

There was a line of people trying to make reservations also so book before or earlier. We arrived a few minutes early for the reservation and our table was ready. The restaurant is much bigger than I thought. Large covered dining area plus the dining on the newly renovated and extra large deck over looking the pool. Evening time was dark inside but the table lights were bright enough at the table and added the nice ambiance. Our server was so friendly and patient and I saw that she was on top of every request and order from all the tables in her section. Amazing skills! We ordered the white lotus mocktail, a OJ, kids Mac and cheese, curry dusted calamari, Korean seafood pancakes, pork belly bao, Rainbow and Shrimp Tempura rolls, and the blackened tuna roll. The dishes and sushi rolls are generous portions and we didn't understand or were starving. We ordered too much for the table. Even the kids Mac and cheese came in this huge bowl enough for two kids. All the sushi rolls were fresh and delicious. They were topped with this wasabi tobiko. I've never had anything like that, and I wished I had more to top other dishes. The Korea seafood pancakes were really crispy on the outside and light and doughy on the inside with the seafood. The sauce on top was great. If they had called this seafood hush puppies, I would have been happy with the order. Each piece was ginormous but didn't have much green onions. I was expecting the pancakes to have a lot more green onions. The pork belly bao buns had a nice pickled salad on top. The buns were not very fluffy but serviceable. The dish was ok. The curry dusted calamari was also just ok. Calamari was fried well and crispy. The curry dust was just not the flavor we liked. And it came with these grape halves around which didn't really go well with the calamari or flavor in my opinion. I think if we ever come back, we'll stick with the sushi menu.

From the moment we pulled up, the service was seamless--the Complimentary Valet Parking is such a massive plus and started the night on a high note. We're lucky to see Maui's beauty every day, but dining at Son'z, with its incredible view and dreamy atmosphere, really makes us feel like we're living our dream vacation. It's easily one of the most romantic and stunning spots on the island. The highlight of the evening, though, was the hospitality. I was so stoked to run into Maranda at the hostess station--it had been a hot minute and it was so lovely to see a familiar face! The staff truly went above and beyond to make my dad feel celebrated, even bringing out a special birthday dessert (that looked almost too good to eat!) to cap off the night. And the food was absolutely incredible. We started with the Blackened Ahi (that Sake-Mustard Beurre Blanc is everything!) and the Pork & Vegetable Dumplings. For the mains, the Wagyu New York Strip was cooked to perfection, but the 32 oz Tomahawk Rib Eye was the real showstopper--especially paired with the Brandy-Peppercorn and Chimichurri. We didn't sleep on the sides either; the Bacon Mac & Cheese, Broccolini, and those Local Mushrooms & Maui Onions were the perfect complements to the steaks. Mahalo to the entire team at Son'z for making this such a memorable birthday celebration. We will definitely be back! XOXO, ChelsieFletcher

WOW and PHENOMENAL…read more This was such an incredible place to dine at. We sat along the water and I felt like we had the best view in the house. The place is absolutely gorgeous. The staff was equally friendly and helpful and also personable which I loved. Our server was truly incredible with navigating my daughter's many allergies, and took so much care in speaking with the chef to also avoid any cross contamination down to the type of oil used in their fryer. I appreciate that level of care and professionalism so much. I started with a couple of non-alcoholic drinks and they were tasty, sweet and refreshing. I had the escargot as an appetizer. As someone who hates clams, muscles-- anything of the sort I was worried about not liking it after my husband told me to expect it to taste like that. THE ESCARGOT IS DELICIOUS. It's like the most balanced butter, herb flavor alongside a mushroom like taste and texture. I wish I would have ordered a second round to devour alone. We even got more butter brought to our table unprompted for our rolls they must know how enjoyable it is. Bacon Mac and cheese was wonderful, Smokey and cheesy. And you know what? The portions were actually very filling none of us could finish our entres. Wagyu steak was cooked to perfection the way my husband likes it. My food was also nothing short of incredible with the short rib tasting heavenly. I would recommend this dining experience to anyone who appreciates good, quality food done passionately with this menu. It was nice dining here, even with a toddler in tow. They had a kids menu and crayons ready for my daughter along with a high chair. If I had only one negative feedback it would be that the bathroom door has a chunky gap in the first stall and that's it. Everything else was excellent and enjoyable and I will continue to rave about what a charming dining experience this was Oh, and they do parking validation for the vallet so we didn't have to stress about parking.

While I adore and often cook a lot of Asian food I'm not such a fan of Filipino food yet around it more than any other food with family. Bad choice. After driving there from Lahaina for lunch, this dish was unavailable?? Even yelpers rave about it! So we ordered the pork belly and wanted chow fun but they only have the chicken variety? So there is a reason why the Asian restaurants we usually dine at make beef chow fun. The chicken version was bland and wanting for something else to complete it! But surely edible and nicely cooked noodles. The pork belly was ok but not slap your momma I'll go back for that good. The Mac salad was awful compared to much more affordable plate lunch places. It was flavorless, overcooked pasta, and a gritty texture! Weirdly the chairs there at the tables are low and you feel like you are at the children's table at Thanksgiving. So much so that us and two other groups including the ones that moved after ordering to our vacated table moved from the regular tables to the ones at the window with a bench on one side. We had fun joking with our replacements about that! So for the most part here it appears to be tourist clientele and not many Filipinos but my wife. I think that these exceptionally high prices for basic dishes and burgers (she asked why would people go to a Filipino restaurant and order a burger) are why not many locals eat here. And frankly most aunties make better Filipino food better at home. Glad we tried but not again. Checked off of our try try list.
