UPDATE: The staff at Genova seem to really care about their customers! Brandon reached out and communicated with me after my first visit. I went ahead and gave it another chance and I left super happy this time around! Tammy did a wonderful job on my pedicure, she took her time and was very gentle when cleaning my nails. I did not get the name of the person who did my manicure but she also did an amazing job. My shellac chipped with in a week the first time, I'm going on a week now and my nails still look great! Me and my mom wanted to try somewhere new considering our usual place was busy and because why not. We were greatly surprised with how great the experience was and how great our nails came out. The only reason for one star off was because of the wait and weren't originally treated when we walked in because of how busy it got, however I understood because it was a holiday weekend. I come here for acrylic with shellac and designs. I love that the front desk ladies are consistently proactive & friendly ensuring that any special requests (designs or whatever) are thoroughly communicated beforehand even passing on any inspo pics you have to the nail technicians. I've been coming here about 7 months now, and the service has been great about 98 percent of the time which I think is pretty damn good. It's a little pricey, but they are big on telling you in advance the breakdown of how much everything will costs. That was weird to me at first, but these days I get it. It can be a little loud since there are usually a lot of people working at once plus they are pretty consistently busy..so I wouldn't say it's the most relaxing experience; however they are quick without making you feel like they are rushing. My only complaint is that the cut off for kids' mani/pedis goes according to their height. Yes you read that correctly. I believe they said 3'5" or 4'...definitely no taller than that. I don't know if they told me that because my daughter is so tall or what; but I thought that was strange. Anyway, I still highly recommend Genova Nails. read more

Such a wonderful experience! I rarely get to go to treat myself to a nail experience because I care for an elderly parent. I am also a health care worker so I am overly cautious about aseptic conditions. I picked the salon because it got great reviews and it was open on a Sunday. It did not disappoint! I learned that Genova opened three months ago. They bought the salon when it went out of business during Covid. From the minute I called for an appointment, I was treated with hospitality and kindness. When I got to the salon, they were prompt and on time. They had my look at a bunch of sample colors on nail sample strips rather than bottles. I liked that because I could hold them up to my nail to see what it looked like. Though I just had a simple manicure and pedicure, they treated me like loyalty. Two people worked on me at the same time which saved my valuable time. They shared small pieces of themselves and their stories and I thanked them for Americanizing their names (Katie and EnJoy)and apologized for not learning how to pronounce their real names. It was delightful. What I really appreciated was that they were upfront about pricing and their were no surprises when I checked out. And there was a $5 Yelp coupon! I am going again.... I recently moved from the River Oaks area. I had been seeing my nail tech in the city for 2 years every 2.5-3 weeks on the dot. Sad that I could no longer go to her with my work schedule, I knew I needed to find a salon that matched in quality what I was getting in the city. I came across Genova in a Google search and everything looked amazing. My first experience was exactly what I was getting in the city! I was very pleased. Everyone there was very nice and hospitable. However, my opinion of them changed fairly quickly the more and more I went. I have tried Genova for around 5 months now and have had issues with my nails lasting longer than 1.5 weeks almost every time. I've tried a variety of services including acrylic and dip. Additionally, I have made appointments days in advanced only to arrive and wait 40 minutes (after my scheduled appt time) for them to even start on me. I pride myself in being a loyal customer, but I can no longer pay for sub-par services. read more

I wish they were honest about what they could and couldn't do for designs . I would've been fine with just my French design from the start. Just paid $45 for a dip MANICURE and was charged an extra $5 for "shaping". Now I didn't change my nail shape to something different. It is exactly the same as what I came in with. So, I asked what the extra charge was for and was told "for filing". In what world is filing your nails NOT included in a manicure? How you can get a dip smooth without filing is beyond my comprehension. The "manicure" also did not include any kind lotion/hand massage either. Amazingly a pedicure DID include things like filing, trimming, removing the dead skin and everything else one would expect with a pedicure. I will say the woman who did my pedicure did a very nice job and I tipped accordingly. read more

I don't recommend their dip nail manicures. I went last Saturday 12/10 for a dip manicure on my natural nails. Within 2 days my nails started to chip at the edges. When I left the salon on Saturday I could tell that the edges were not sealed well, but I was in a hurry to leave. It's now Friday 12/16 and multiple nails are chipped and I think they will probably start to fall off soon. I have never had this happen with dip at other salons. This same thing happened to me the last time I visited this salon. It's a bummer because the salon and staff are nice, but dip should last at least 2 weeks. read more

If I could give zero stars I would! This place doesn't take accountability for their services! I went in for a acrylic full set and 2 days later my polish started coming off. I went there the following business day to inform them of the problem, they took pictures and offered to fix them same day but I made it CLEAR that I couldn't stay due to a busy work week and I would TRY to come Friday of that week after work. I called to inform them that I wouldn't be able to make it after all due to my work schedule and I rescheduled for the following Monday; well unfortunately I caught the flu and was down 10days before I could make it back. I went today for a removal to have my nails redone and also for a pedicure because I understand mistakes happens however, i asked will I receive a discount from the last service and was told NO because the grace period for my correction had past. Do get me wrong, I understand policies etc but life happens! Not only do I tip 20% for my services, I was willing to pay for additional services today only to be told that I wouldn't be compensated in no way for my service 3 weeks ago. They didn't take into account that it was an inconvenience for me to have to go back due to this matter! Went in with my daughters in a Saturday morning, my oldest got Gel Nails and my little one got kids polish. They offered me wine and water or juice for my children. We got helped almost immediately, I got a pedicure and full set nails-my pedicure was ok, the girl was very gentle which I appreciate, she did not hurt me at all. I come here often and I usually get really good service I love my nails every single time I come however this previous time I came the lady doing my nails her name was abby she was super aggressive with my nails. I am not one to complain but she handled my nails so awful, she twisted my fingers and gripped them so hard i felt like my thumb was going to break and when she was bringing the UV light she just dropped it on top of my hands and she left all my fingers red with the color of the acrylic. I can tell that she was in such a rush but that was no way to handle someone's hands or treat them with such aggression. read more
