Glancing over the menu will offer you options like calzones, pizzas, appetizers, pasta, and more. For those who don't want a hot meal, but instead want a cool or ready-to-eat meal there is a refrigerated zone that offers premade plant-based salads, or pasta-based salads. Either way, in all honesty, the food tastes above average and the wait time for your food is pretty acceptable, compared to other larger brands. I've been craving a meat lovers stromboli so I ordered takeout. When the order arrived I was pleasantly surprised by how big it was and held up well during the delivery. One thing I would say I'd change is how it was packed. It was left slightly open due to having cups on sauce in the pizza box. It would have been better if the sauce came in a paper bag and the pizza box was taped shut. Now back to the positive... the stromboli was delicious. We ordered a Stromboli but what we got was a very wet and tough calzone without ricotta. A Stromboli is rolled and what we got was a large hot pocket. Our fillings were Italian sausage, caramelized onions, mushrooms and roasted red peppers. The onions were not caramelized at all and the crust was very tough. First time trying this newly opened pizza/Italian space and I will say that all the employees and staff are super nice and helpful. There is seating inside and they also have a nice patio - you order at the counter and if dining inside, they'll bring your order to the table. The food seemed to be hit or miss and I regret not getting pizza - they were really busy with take-out orders and every single one of them was pizza or subs. I had the spaghetti with meat sauce and the sauce was really sweet and some spice was really overpowering for me. My friend had the chicken parmigiana and said it was okay - not the best but edible. I visited this pizzeria with my mom last week. We ordered a few slices and a side salad. The pizza flavor was average--nothing out of this world. It might have been the sauce that I didn't enjoy. I must mention, though, that the crust was very delicious. On the plus side, they offer a great deal: with the purchase of two slices, you get a free fountain drink. The salad was fresh and large enough to share between two people. The restaurant space is a bit tight but clean. We ordered a large cheese pizza and a large white pizza without the veggies on top. Both were pretty good! The crust was a bit softer than I would've liked, but had a nice texture overall. Wasn't chewy. The red sauce on the cheese pie was very sweet and tasted like they hadn't cooked the sugars off. The white pizza was good too. Not overly salty. Genovas was my favorite pizza parlor in Richmond but tonight I'm disgusted! I ordered a small Deluxe pizza with very light peppers no mushrooms. I got a pie with extra peppers I told them and They said it would be fixed but what I got next because the place was crowded was a smaller pie with hardly any sausage or onions and when I told them the pie looked smaller I was told that was a small. Now, I've been coming to Genovas since they open and got all three sizes of pies and regular 2 slice pizza comb. So you can't tell me this was a small pie that I paid $15.00 for. They lose two stars for me because the sauce for the spaghetti, lasagna, and rigatoni was just odd. Fabulous food and service with an impressive menu to satisfy all! Funky and comfortable atmosphere. Visited this local spot and was very impressed in all respects. We were greeted by the owner who suggested we sit outside on this beautiful evening. Despite the nearby traffic on Burford Road it was quite enjoyable. It took quite a while to make our choices because there were so many temptations throughout the extensive menu. For an appetizer we chose Italian sausage and broccoli rapi over creamy polenta. Garlicy and absolutely awesome - enough to fully feed us two seniors (took the rest home). For entrees I had the Chicken Francese. Again, a hefty portion of tender chicken cutlets with a well-balanced lemon sauce and a delicious side salad. My wife raved about the Chicken Marsala too... lots of tasty mushrooms. Being quite stuffed there was more than enough for lunch the following day. Our second visit the following week was a take-out order. We had to have the sausage and polenta appetizer again... just as enjoyable as our first visit. I feasted on "The Godmother" sub. Wonderfully seasoned roasted red peppers and an artichoke spread with salami and capiccola over arugula and Burrata Cheese. Perfection indeed!
