Genova's is a classic staple of Bon Air. The pizzas are huge portions, and have a wide selection on the menu. They generally have great service and fast times for pick up.

I stopped in for a late lunch on a rainy Sunday. I had a hankering for an Italian sub, so I selected the Italian Supreme, with lettuce, tomato, onion, oil and vinegar. It came out promptly, in a warmed roll. It was really yummy, totally hit the spot and was reasonably priced. I'd definitely stop by again when I'm in the area.

Starting off, many might not know this but this place doesn't have the best parking lot. It only contains one handicap lot, and two regular lots. Going off of aesthetics once more, the exterior of the building appears much older than its interior, with a majority of the equipment and furniture looking recent/new. Also, the service here is acceptable, with the servers being on point, and the food wait-time being low. Exploring the various food options, the menus are offered up front in a stack. Glancing over the menu will offer you options like calzones, pizzas, appetizers, pasta, and more. For those who don't want a hot meal, but instead want a cool or ready-to-eat meal there is a refrigerated zone that offers premade plant-based salads, or pasta-based salads. Either way, in all honesty, the food tastes above average and the wait time for your food is pretty acceptable, compared to other larger brands. In conclusion, Genovas Pizza Station is an all-round specs Italian restaurant that provides great options for all kind of Italian lovers, and great service.

Showing how big the Meat Lover Stromboli is

I've been craving a meat lovers stromboli so I ordered takeout. When the order arrived I was pleasantly surprised by how big it was and held up well during the delivery. One thing I would say I'd change is how it was packed. It was left slightly open due to having cups on sauce in the pizza box. It would have been better if the sauce came in a paper bag and the pizza box was taped shut. Now back to the positive... the stromboli was delicious. I especially loved the cheese and there was decent about of meat. The sauce was also very tasty. I will definitely return to try other options and of course get another stromboli. I

First time trying this newly opened pizza/Italian space and I will say that all the employees and staff are super nice and helpful. There is seating inside and they also have a nice patio - you order at the counter and if dining inside, they'll bring your order to the table. The food seemed to be hit or miss and I regret not getting pizza - they were really busy with take-out orders and every single one of them was pizza or subs. I had the spaghetti with meat sauce and the sauce was really sweet and some spice was really overpowering for me. My friend had the chicken parmigiana and said it was okay - not the best but edible. My husband had the eggplant parmigiana sub and said it was so delicious! We'll definitely be back to try the pizza - it looked so good and definitely seemed to be the most popular choice.

We ordered a large cheese pizza and a large white pizza without the veggies on top. Both were pretty good! The crust was a bit softer than I would've liked, but had a nice texture overall. Wasn't chewy. The red sauce on the cheese pie was very sweet and tasted like they hadn't cooked the sugars off. The white pizza was good too. Not overly salty. The pizzas were ready fast and they travelled well. I'd like to try some of their other menu items.

The Small Deluxe pie in the box.

Genovas was my favorite pizza parlor in Richmond but tonight I'm disgusted! I ordered a small Deluxe pizza with very light peppers no mushrooms. I got a pie with extra peppers I told them and They said it would be fixed but what I got next because the place was crowded was a smaller pie with hardly any sausage or onions and when I told them the pie looked smaller I was told that was a small. Now, I've been coming to Genovas since they open and got all three sizes of pies and regular 2 slice pizza comb. So you can't tell me this was a small pie that I paid $15.00 for. The slice doesn't even fill up a plateHere's a picture of the pie, and here's a picture of a slice from that pie on a full size plate.

The pizza here is decent and the Alfredo is good, so they get a couple stars from us. However, wow that was the most off red sauce we've ever had. They lose two stars for me because the sauce for the spaghetti, lasagna, and rigatoni was just odd. It's a very different red sauce with a sour flavor that tastes like it's got some kind of cream in it. Definitely not the tomato based sauce we're used to; the kids flat out wouldn't eat it.

Genova's Pizza Station stands out in the maze of pizza restaurants in the Richmond area. The tomato sauce is the best.

Deceptive pricing. The online price is different from what you pay at the restaurant. And the customer service was terrible.

There were only a couple of tables available, but they were clearly well staffed. We were greeted immediately at the door, and it was obvious there were multiple managers on the floor making sure everything was running smoothly. The ambiance struck the perfect balance--upscale yet approachable. It felt polished without being stuffy or overly formal. The lighting was just right, creating a comfortable atmosphere for dinner, and they offered a nice selection of beverages and cocktails. The food absolutely delivered. My friend ordered the Cobb salad with fried chicken. The chicken was perfectly cooked and lightly breaded--not overly heavy at all. His only suggestion would be swapping the mustard-based dressing for something brighter, like a lemon or citrus vinaigrette, since it competed a bit with the blue cheese crumbles. I ordered the Mediterranean Bowl with shrimp, and it was fantastic. A small detail that made a surprisingly big impression: the shrimp tails had already been removed! It's such a simple thing, but not having to stop and pick tails off while eating made the meal that much more enjoyable. The dish was perfectly balanced and delicious exactly as served--I wouldn't change a thing. My martini was also expertly made. No notes there either. The restaurant attracted a friendly, well-dressed crowd, adding to the overall experience without feeling pretentious. It's also easy to find, located on the corner of the shopping center with Trader Joe's and Planet Fitness. Granite Grill exceeded my expectations, and I'll definitely be back. Great food, attentive service, an inviting atmosphere, and excellent attention to detail. Highly recommended.

One bite and I was transported back to Brooklyn and the endless string of afternoon visits to my neighborhood pizza place. The pie was hot, cheesy, oily, and the crust, oh that crust! The pizza at Galley-To-Go is a trip back in time. Speaking of time, you will spend some here if you are planning to enjoy a pizza. Average waits for a pizza are at a half hour, but on a weekend evening, you can easily wait double that time. I don't mind waiting for good food, but I think the staff needs to be educated in being able to remind or even warn potential guests (especially first-timers) that their early night may become compromised, or if you have small children, you may do better in their regular "Galley" restaurant just a door away. The back-story behind how this transformed Asian restaurant became an RVA pizza mecca is intriguing and quite involved, but the short version is a New Jersey native who worked for the owners of the Galley named Guistino Riccio brought his family recipes to the Galley's managers, and they were immediately sold. When they transformed the former Mandarin Palace restaurant (the name still sits above the restaurant's doorway, as do other relics that remind you of the space's previous tenants), they put pizza ovens in the kitchen and a neon sign offering "Guistino's Pizza" over the kitchen entrance. Local legend says the owners are still arguing over the name of the "Galley to Go" space (part coffee shop, part grocery store, part cafe), but who cares if the pizza is this good. Well, you might if you want to get in and get out in a hurry (so order ahead, many do), OR if you want to adjust your pizza toppings. No substitutions for the varieties of pizza are permitted (a little concerning if your allergy requires a vegan pizza, which they offer but no protein is on it). So if you are willing to live with the potentially long waits, the small pizza oven capacities (we were told a 20-pie limit at any given time, so if there is a big to-go order, well, just enjoy your beverage SLOWLY while you wait), and the rigidity of the pizza menu (there are other menu items besides pizza but they are not the main draw here...) the Galley to Go may be your RVA pizza destination for a long time to come. I had the second half my pie the next day reheated, and it was just as good as my first bite, a sign that whatever they do in that kitchen, although a labor of love and long waits, is worth its weight in gold.
