My wife and I had a wonderful lunch experience. Our order of onion rings was served hot and timely. We then ordered a full-size philly steak and cheese sub sandwich. The was big enough for the two of us to share. I did ask to make sure that they seasoned it and extra mayo. It was fantastic and we really enjoyed it. Ok, I am trying to be fair. There was no flavor, but you get a full sub of meat (meat lovers, this is heaven for you). However, your bread will be very soggy. I had seen Sal's a few times but never found the time to come by and try it till the other day and I have to say I was missing out! I snagged a ham and pineapple pizza and a cannoli to take back to the house. At first I thought the price a smidge steep until I opened the box. Pizza was PACKED with toppings! Wow! That's all I can say about this place. Amazing food, amazing service and people who truly care about the food and the people who dine. We recently had my daughter's birthday party at the zoo and they delivered 8 hot and ready pizzas right to the front door of the zoo. Everyone raved about it and it was the best thing for my daughter's 3rd birthday party. Forward to a couple weeks later on my daughters actual birthday and we asked her what did she want to eat and she said pizza! So the first place that we thought to take her was Mr. submarine and Sals pizza for the best pizza we've had in a long time. My husband and I got the philly cheese steaks and they were delicious! We called to do pick up and was informed the wait time for a Sicilian pizza was and hour and 20 minutes because it is hand tossed. We also ordered some pasta dishes in this order. When we arrived after and hour and 20 minutes we had to wait in the parking lot another 20 minutes once the wait staff stopped being incredibly rude. Finally the food came out to us. We got home and the pasta dishes were hot ... not so tasty tasty though and the pizza (that needed an hour and twenty minute) was stone cold and literally burnt to a crisp. But the rolls that came with the pasta dishes were raw dough in the middle! Be wary. There are much better and cheaper pizza places in this town. Maybe "eat in" is better, but the rudeness of the wait staff would negate any improvement if any in quality of the food. read more

Not sure why I drive in rush hour traffic (15 miles out of the way) for a pizza I have had previously and absolutely loved to pay $50+ and not get what I ordered. I would have gotten a refill and ran out of dip for all of these tenders. I believe she was all alone so understood. I am not sure about the prices, which I didn't notice till I got home. The menu has one price but the receipt has a higher price as you can see in the photos? My food was a very large portion for the money although. Personally I feel if submarine is on your name, it should be the item you excel at, but every single one I have tried has truly been bad. I don't get to this place often because of its location - in Midlothian off of the Hull Street corridor - a bit far from where I live. But when I do, I always order a cold or toasted turkey sub with everything on it - cheese, lettuce - perfectly shredded so thin - tomatoes, onions, and seasonings and mayo. I've also gotten the veggie sub that is warm and piled high with a ton of onions, peppers, mushrooms, lettuce and tomato. The pizza looks good as well but I haven't ventured off of what I specifically go there for when on that side of town, and that's the subs. The bread is soft, like fresh baked soft, even when toasted - still soft with a bit of crunch around the edges. And the veggies are always fresh and crunchy. I'm actually sitting at the location waiting on my order. I ordered a 6 inch steak and cheese TO GO. There are 2 people eating in the place and was told it would be 20 MINUTES!!!! I asked the waitress to make sure I heard right and she said 15-20 minutes again like I was stupid. So they're ordering it from somewhere else maybe??? I mean a take out 6" steak and cheese should take 5-7 minutes, this is how long Jersey Mike's takes when BUSY!!! If the food is anything like the service it isn't going to be good... Epilogue: I got my food and it was completely wrong. I ordered it with extra meat and cheese (which I paid for) and it was supposed to have tomato, lettuce, onion, and Mayo per their menu description. What I got was a plain sub (No L,T,O,M) with 1/2 cup of grub steak and 2 pieces of cheese. When I went back in and asked for my money back I was looked at and treated like I was the problem and was given a monotone 'I'm sorry' with no recognition of their mess up. I suggest you read the bad reviews as they all say: "Poor food quality and treated badly when you have the nerve to complain".
