Really solid cheesesteak. Loved the bun and the melted provolone. I should have had sweet peppers too. My mistake. The fries were Krinkle fries and I like them a bit more well done to be honest. Admittedly I am not a Philly cheesesteak connoisseur. I saw this restaurant purely by taking a wrong turn and wanted to try it. You order at the counter. The lady at the counter happily helped me choose the options....and your food is brought out to you. The restaurant has about 6 tables but I did not have a problem getting one. I liked the onion rings. They tasted homemade. I could take or leave the cheesesteak but again.... I wouldn't know a good or bad one. I would try the place again for the Italian hoagie. Big sandwich I had an opportunity to revisit Gentile Bros for lunch today. Last time they made a great cheesesteak and I wanted another. As soon as I walked in, I headed right to the counter and ordered. Turned out I was a little rusty on how to order, so I missed out on mushrooms and peppers, but I still got a great sandwich. A great big sandwich. Before I arrived, I had read my previous review where I recommended asking for double meat. I followed my own advice. I don't recommend that any longer unless you are a big eater. With double meat it priced the sandwich a bit high, the sandwich and a bottle of soda was about 18 bucks. Turns out they even have an off-menu name for this sandwich, I believe it was The Commander, and large enough to draw the attention of other customers. I finished it because I lack portion size control, or common sense. It's a friendly place, they have about 6 tables, and there is a TV. read more

We are done with Gentile, shouldn't have to ask for melted cheese if you get extra cheese (American). This has happened several times even after we told them. Once they fixed it while we were there. The other 2 times we brought them home and found out to late. read more

Who wouldn't love a perfect Philly cheesesteak made by real Philadelphians who know how to do it right? This place is authentic down to the chairs, tables, signed and tons of Philadelphia memorabilia all over the walls. This is the real deal in taste, atmosphere and great service. Mind you, the place was busy, but only suggestion is that they need a better sign visible from the main road in both directions because we almost missed it driving past. We've been making these cheesesteaks at home for years because we could not find a place to get them that met our expectations or could compete with the ones we made. Fell upon this place while out shopping and looking for a quick lunch. We found perfection!! True Rib Eye on rolls right from Philly. Great flavor and the meat was plentiful (not like the hotdog rolls that other places use - with a fork full f meat). And all the toppings that make it the way you want it or included in the price. Sorry to post a negative review after I was a pretty frequent customer. However lately I've been very disappointed with the downsizing of the meat amount with the hot and cold sandwiches. The biggest disappointment though is the NOW skimpy amount of steak and toppings they serve, the sandwich, meat and roll are about the size of a hotdog and roll, just a little longer and maybe half of what they used to give you, but no more. Another food venue that has joined greed customers are expected to accept. So now you're just better off making your own at home. I hear people saying they used to give twice the meat they give now. I can't really speak to that as it's my first time ordering from there but what I can say is the cheesesteak I got in November of 2024 was absolutely amazing. The owner is extremely nice. We talked for about 40 mins about sports in Philly. Super nice genuine guy. I am really surprised this got saved as a draft. I probably ate over here about 2 1/2 years ago. The sandwich was really good and full of flavor. I really like the owner the old man was super cool and talk to me for a long time. We talked about sports different NFL teams I just had a great conversation. He really knows how to treat his clients and knows how to hold a good conversation. Now back to the food. The cheesesteak is really good, they have great reviews and they do a good job. Next time I am in Sarasota Florida I will make it a point to come back and get his cheesesteak again. Sad experience compared to the last cheese steak I had here over a year ago. Maybe it depends on who makes your cheese steak! I ordered mine with sautéed onions and cheese whiz along with a bottle of soda, grabbed a table and waited. My sandwich was delivered rolled up in a couple of paper wrappers. When unrolling the wrapping I see juice all over the paper! When biting into it more juice is pouring out...everywhere! I had to lay out napkins to create a dry spot to rest my sandwich to catch a swig of my soda. A young couple with their baby came in to the store, but, surprisingly, did not notice the absolute mess on my table. I believe that might have been the owner. I was craving a cheesesteak, and wanted to give this local spot a try based off of the reviews. I got mine with cheez-wiz and onions, and a side of the "special" old bay fries. For lack of a better description, everything was very underwhelming. The quality of the meat and bread were the only positives out of the whole meal. The meat is definitely good quality ribeye, and the bread tasted homemade. However, the sandwich in general was extremely bland, and didn't taste like they seasoned the meat at all; it just tasted like bland meat mixed with cheez-wiz. And the biggest rip-off are those old bay fries. I thought that they'd be some sort of specialty since they cost $5.95, about $2.50 more than the regular fries; they're literally just a small portion of gross, frozen, crinkle cut fries covered in old bay seasoning. The only negative reviews I saw were based on the fries, and they're absolutely right. I guess they used to have hand cut fries, but now only serve frozen crinkle cut fries that taste like they cook them in the oven. Unfortunately, I wouldn't eat here again based off this experience. read more

You could choose between provolone, American, or cheese wiz then add either onions, sweet peppers or hot peppers. I had mine with cheese wiz, onions, and sweet peppers.
