Twice they told me my insurance covered a certain service that it didn't and sent me a bill later. They told me I should know everything my insurance covers and basically not trust what they say.. Be careful. I let it go the first time, but now twice is a pattern. They don't really check to see if your insurance covers it. read more

This was my first experience with Gentle Dental as we had just come from Ponderosa Dental where it was very corporate and they were always rushing the cleaning and being rude. I got X-rays and a cleaning. Everyone who helped me today was kind, always checking in to make sure I was still doing okay. Even though they were very busy, they still were thorough and took the time to answer my questions. I didn't feel comfortable with the dentist. My top gums are very sensitive and I told her that. She put some numbing medication on them. After that she started poking my gums and tears started falling from my eyes from the pain. I was there two hours and nothing was done with my teeth but x-rays. This is a tough review. Though I love the hygienist, dentist and oral surgeon, their finance person is very sketchy. I had two instances. First incident, I was being charged after I was told I had credits, meaning I was over charged. After I mentioned that to the finance person, she said I didn't know that. How can she not know that if she is the one that does the billing? Second incident, I was charged over $400 for my son's oral surgeon when my insurance cover most of it. This office refused to give me my money back. I had to file an investigation with my insurance. It took them four phone calls and two letters before I finally got my money back. Can't thank Aetna enough. They were great through the whole process. I hope this place gets their books audited. read more

I've been a patient since December and have had 4 visits to this office. My first visit was the routine check up and cleaning. During this visit the Dr gave me a consult. I needed to have a root canal and crown put on my front tooth. I was informed that in order to put the crown on, I'd need to get braces to make room for the crown. During my cleaning, the office had to send the assistant to lunch. So the Dr did my cleaning by herself and I swear on everything, she asked me to help her with the suctioning. I seriously had to do my own suctioning during my cleaning and was charged for it. When I went to pay cash for the cleaning the front staff told me they couldn't accept cash and had to be billed. Second visit was for the orthodontist consult. That went fine but was told that the price for the braces would be about ~$5,500. The braces were solely to make room for the crown on my front tooth. Third visit went fine also. I got the root canal and the Dr and her assistant were amazing. Very minimal pain. During this appointment I specifically asked if I needed to have a crown or can I just get a filling in the root canal. The Dr told me I was able to get just a filling. Fourth visit, I checked in and first thing the receptionist told me was the I was going to get a crown and gave me the cost. I told her I was under the impression I was just getting a filling as that's what I made an appointment for. So they take me back for another consult with a 4th Dr and now he's telling me that he needs to put a crown in. I asked him about the braces needed to make room for the crown. He told me I didn't need them. I asked about the filling the other Dr told me I could get and he said they were wrong. When I asked to have the filling done again they finally said ok. But now they were going to charge me and not use my insurance. The receptionist told me the filling was cosmetic and not covered so I had to pay out of pocket to fill a hole they put in my tooth and said it wasn't medically necessary. This office is very unorganized and unprofessional. I received multiple calls to make down payments to pay thousands of dollars for a procedure that , by their own Dr admission, I didn't need after all. They wouldn't take my cash, lied to me multiple times, refused to use my insurance for procedures and to top it off, after I paid and went home the office called me back and said I didn't pay after all because they lost my receipt that I signed and said I had taken it with me. After I signed the receipt I saw the receptionist hand it to the girl beside her and asked her to file it. When I called back the receptionist said " oh we found it. Forget the call". It's a little insulting to be accused. Beware of this place. They lie straight to your face and are extremely unprofessional. I have had a very difficult experience since moving to this dental office. They told me I needed a crown and all went well until the crown came back looking like a huge fang when it was put in my mouth, much larger than any other teeth. I was told that was because the dentist did not cut enough of the tooth, so a new dentist did that and put the temporary crown back on. The tooth broke off the next day when I was in another state. When I got back, I was told I needed an implant and they gave me a price, pulled the tooth and started the implant process. I assumed the price covered the entire cost, but was told 3 months later, that I needed to get a CT scan from someone else and would have to pay them $250, which I did. I then went in for what I was told was a "free consultation" only to be called after I left and told, that I owed them $62 for a consultation fee. At the consultation from a different doctor, I was told that I needed a small cavity filled prior to the implant. When I went in to get it filled, I was told by another dentist I had not seen before, that I would need crowns on three teeth adjacent to where the tooth was pulled and that it was likely they would brake off and I would need three more implants, so he referred me to a specialist that was not covered by my medicare insurance. I tried to talk to the office manager about my concerns and she was not helpful, and changing her story about what she did or didn't tell me. I asked to speak to her supervisor and she said she didn't have one. I eventually found out that it is true and that even the insurance company can only talk to her and no one above her. As far as I can see, there is no certified dentist covering the work, as far as quality control. The surgeon that said I needed a small cavity filled did not consult at all with the dentist that said I needed three crowns/most likely implants. I was not told that any dentist consulted with any other about my care and the office manager does not appear to be qualified to provide quality control for dental care. As I was trying to get this resolved, the office manager contacted my insurance and told them to send me elsewhere, and cut me off, so that I would have to pay again for a consultation to finish the implant that they started five months prior. When I filed a complaint with my insurance company, they requested my records from the office, but then called me and said the office had not sent the records after two attempts, so I would have to go get them. When I went to get them, the office manager said she had received no request. After conferring with the insurance, I went back to get the records and the office manager said they had been sent. I had to get copies of the records anyway since my insurance company said they had not received the records. I am so glad that I went to my former dentist, whom I trusted, even though the medicare insurance would not cover it. She did the three crowns with no problem, and I found a great dentist to do the implant for a cheaper price than I would have paid with the insurance, and he has no bad reviews like you see are evident with this office. read more

On July 22nd (by my provider) I was advised that Gental Dental had charged me for services that they should not have, $535 (which also included co-payment). I went back and forth, UNTIL OCTOBER 24TH when they agreed to refund me. I had to return to their office to get my credit applied back to my card.
