My first impression was a really dirty carpet in their elevator. It obviously hadn't been vacuumed in ages and was stained. The elevator smelled bad. I saw them three times then found how much more expensive they are. They also recommended that I see them every four months for a cleaning even though I have not had a cavity in many years. My insurance recommends every six months if all is well. I'm very happy to move on. read more

BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE! I needed to have some dental work done. called this office as it was in network of my (insurance plan, more on that later). Went to the first appointment, x-rays and exam, needed a broken tooth repaired , one filling and an extraction. Asked for a quote with my insurance. Was given the quote and everything seemed ok. I paid the first visit $30 which was correct and informed front desk that I would have to do things in stages and proceeded to schedule an appointment for the filling first. A week later I was back for the filling, I was taken right in and they went to work. There was no issue with the work or the staff. Everything went downhill when I went to pay. Ironically the first front office lady that had helped me was not in that day. I was assisted by another person who told me the bill was over $100. I informed her that was not what my quote said nor was in the amount that was stated on my insurance schedule of benefits. Her response: "Oh, well you were quoted incorrectly but since you have a quote we will have to honor it" Darn right, you do! THEN she went on to tell me that my insurance wasn't actually insurance but rather a "dental discount plan". And since it was a discount plan that it didn't cover the area that the filling was done in so it was going to be $20 more. I called my INSURANCE company, explained what went on, and they basically told me that I was scammed by this office, that I in fact DO have dental INSURANCE. I filed an ethics complaint and their practices are currently under review. Interestingly enough on my account for insurance they did file the claim for the initial visit which shows the amount that I should have paid, which was correct. On 03/27/2024 I received a treatment plan with a total of $4181.00 At that time the girl who printed it stated that a code was in error, and gave me 2 codes that one of them should apply. They were less expensive than the original. (Possible upcoding) I then made an appointment later in the year on 08/08/24. A week prior I met the dentist and asked if he could secure my broken bridge and he stated he could not. On 08/08/24 appt I was having an impression done and asked about the impression dislodging my bridge and he stated he could reattach it????? I also paid $1000 and the manager was sitting 6ft behind the girl and the girl said that would be fine. Then I received a phone call from the manager stating I was supposed to pay the entire amount of $3181.00 08/21/24 I had all remaining upper teeth extracted and quickly stitched up. 09/03/2024 Stitches removed. I asked the person if the lumps on the front of my gum were the bone grafts. He looked at my info and stated none had been done. 09/09/2024 I traveled to an implant specialist and had a digital 360 scan done for possible upper and lower permanent dentures. This was only 3 weeks after my extractions. I since have touched bases twice with the implant specialists and once I was told they saw no sign of bone grafts, and the next time I was told all they could see was bone, no grafts. The office mgr at Gentle Dental said at that they showed on the paperwork after the fact weeks later, when 2 weeks after the extraction they did not show.????? (Fraud?) I don't feel I should pay for what I clearly did not receive. That makes the alveoplasty and tissue resorbable very questionable, as well. I request these charges be removed from my bill as I believe they have not been done. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had a talk with my insurance provider and she stated I should file a grievance with them, which I will if no resolution occurs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have tried Gentle Dental corporate and customer service but nobody picks up the phone, just message.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'm an older senior and they seem to think that I would never know that the bone grafts, alveoplasty, and resorbable had not been done. Asked again if xrays were included - no answer. I said skip the xrays. "oh, the Dr. can't do the exam without the xrays" .....Ok, just do the cleaning then. If I could give this place zero starts I would! What a joke of a dental business! They are the epitome of going to the mechanic but a dental office! Over book, over sell, over price, and poor customer service. Their manager calls herself a manager however a robot could do a better job running that office. Schedule a visit when THEY called me to schedule then it wasn't on the books. Missed work to go in. Didn't even get an apology. I went to Dr. Burningham for the first time for an exam and cleaning. He wouldn't do the cleaning because he said I needed a deep cleaning for over $700 with insurance and that I would need to come in for a checkup every 4 months instead of twice per year, despite the fact that my gums were not bleeding. I checked with my previous dentist who I'd seen only 6 months prior and was told that the tooth they marked as a '7' had only been a '3' at my last exam and that there was no way a tooth could go from a '3' to a '7' in 6 months. They refused to do my cleaning and had me sign forms stating that I would accept their diagnosis. Basically, these people are thieves. Wild horses couldn't drag me back there. read more

I went to Gentle Dental for 2 years. It was amazing when Dr Jeanie Ju was there. She was the only reason I kept going back. Since then she has left to her own practice so I followed her. Besides that, front desk has been nice to me. Sometimes they cancel appointments and/or change them. Sometimes they tell me and sometimes they don't. Then I will get a phone call to remind me of my appointment which they changed without asking. It can be irritating, though I do understand that things do happen, the doctors have lives too and things change. They were good with my kids and my kids liked going there. I had an appointment to get some gum surgery done by their specialist. I will say he is pretty awful. No people skills and not good with patients with anxiety (me). I liked my hygienist but no reason for me to return as I am not fond of the other dentists. I would also like to add that there is a TON of turn over which is not good with patients who deal with Dental Anxiety. read more

My Mom had previously gone here too, until she kept having issues with the office staff/accounting staff not properly billing her insurance. I would give a zero rating if that were an option as I did not get the opportunity to receive the service I scheduled. I have never made a yelp review for any facility but feel very strongly that NO ONE should go to this dental office. It had been over a year since my last cleaning so I scheduled my dental exam and then my cleaning 1 hour apart as recommended on the phone call. I was on time and the staff didn't even bring me back until at least 30 min over my appointment time. I had my exam and then was brought back out to the waiting office. I waited there while the staff conversed leisurely amongst themselves until the receptionist called me up. She called me up and told me that my appointment now will cut into the dental hygienist's lunch and that I will need to come back after 5pm when they close (keep in mind it was around 11am when my cleaning should've already started). I let the receptionist know that will not work as I had another appointment around that time today. She then let me know that I will need to reschedule... I took the day off of work to pay money for a service that I locked in weeks prior only to have my appointment cancelled on me while I was already sitting in the dental chair. The receptionist did not apologize, take any accountability, or even empathize for the situation their office caused. I have never experienced such poor time management in a healthcare facility and I am in healthcare myself! I seriously recommend everyone STAY AWAY from this facility especially if you're a young adult because it seems you're not a "real" customer to them and they'll only inconvenience your appointments for their mistakes. read more

I have been going here for about a year now and have always had great service and a great experience. Yesterday i broke a tooth and called first thing this morning and they got me right in and fixed my tooth. It looks great now, the dentist even fixed an old patch on a different tooth and it looks much better. The front desk was really nice and fast. The assistance were all very nice too. The dentist seemed extremely knowledgeable and you could tell knew what he was doing. My previous cleanings there have been some of the best I have had. I love Dr. Ju. I would give her and her assistants 5 stars if I could take everything else about this office out of the equation. I've since transferred to her other office, which is vastly out of the way but worth it, since she's restored my faith in my teeth. The office staff, on the other hand, is another shade of ridiculous entirely. First there was the debacle of rescheduling a set of fillings I needed to prep for orthodontia, which doesn't bear going into except for the fact that it took 3 times to get it right. THEN, on the day of my appointment to put my braces on, I'm informed (while sitting in the waiting room and having confirmed this appointments mere days before!) that the orthodontist I was scheduled to see had left the practice entirely and that, to be seen, I'd need to make another appointment in 2 weeks to get ANOTHER consultation exam done and if I got a clean bill of health - I could potentially get them on later that day. Except that neither ortho scheduler was around because, well, reasons. So, essentially, I'd have to call back and take my chances. I stormed out of the office and immediately transferred elsewhere. Now, in my quest to get them to fax my records over, I was told that I needed to have filled out a release form, but 1) the person that agreed to send the fax never told me that I needed to do that and 2) In any case, I would have to come into the office to return it. I'm done with this place. So done. This is terrible behavior, and I want no more of it. read more

Would give zero stars if I could. First went here based on a family recommendation for one dentist in particular, who when I did see was very nice and did a great job. I had a few cavities to fill, and from what I was told would be taken care of in one visit. When it was all said and done I think it took 4 visits. Staff who sets appointments guaranteed me a late afternoon appt would be able to do cavaties. I even called back once more to make sure since I was driving across town and can only take off so much time for work. They confirmed and said I was booked for the cavities to be filled. I arrive to the appointment and no dentist is there, someone else tells me they never do cavities that late. So for the reschedule im told will take of all the cavities. I get there and they tell me there's only enough time to do one, and I must come back. Very disorganized office and from my experience you will be told what you want to to get you through the door. After my last cavity done by someone else there, (and the process wasn't too pleasant) the next weeks following it were extremely painful. Went back in, x ray showed the fill looked good. Then a root canal specialist tried talking me into a root canal and said that's the only thing that will cure the pain.. That was my last visit and I will make sure to never go back. I use Sensodyne toothpaste now on the tooth with the pain and just deal with it. My recommendation would be to stay as far away from this office as possible. Very unprofessional and from my experience it is quite clear they will try and take you for as much $ as they can get while providing below average service. read more

This is not my first review of Gentle Dental and in my other post I could not say enough good things about Dr. Ju and the assistants; they are wonderful! So why the two stars this time around? Well, my last visit to the office was for a comprehensive exam and x-rays. During the course of the visit, I was told that I needed -- among other things -- three root canals and crowns. The big problem with this? I had those three root canals and procedures done at a Gentle Dental office within the last few years!!! In all fairness, the work was done at the office over by Arizona Pavilions. Nevertheless, I strongly feel that a (parent) company should stand behind the work of its various offices and employees. I could barely afford the work when I had it done the first time; I can afford it even less now and I am beside myself with anxiety and frustration! It's really unfair. :\ I was told the office manager at Gentle Dental on Ina would be in touch with the other office and get back to me. Thus far, I've heard nothing and it's stressful. I have a cleaning this Saturday, so let's hope the company takes the high road in behalf of the patient and hashes out the details between their respective offices. I called and tried to explain that I never had the treatment done. Now it's in collections. I filed a complaint with the BBB. They also tried to remove wisdom teeth that didn't need to be removed.
