Had an excellent first visit as a New Patient at Mesa -Signal Butte. Their FREE first visit including xrays and examination was the perfect opportunity to try them out as a New Dentist Office for our family. I was very impressed with the staffs friendliness. Dr. Wahlter DDS did a great job of explaining my tooth issues and laying out a plan to tackle them. He also found no issue with a crown that my last dentist insisted needed replacement. Note: I almost didnt go here because of some old 2021 Yelp reviews... but the info was so OLD, sure glad I ignored it. This location in Laveen is bilking my insurance in my opinion. They put me on a dental plan where I have to come in every 3 months for a cleaning & fluoride. The cost for this is $72.00. This cost was never explained to me in advance or I would've never agreed to it. When I told them that I just wanted to change to a plan where I came in every 6 months for a check up & cleaning (which would be covered by insurance) then I was told that I would have to change to another dental company since they would not do that for me. Also, the dental hygienist (not sure of her name-black lady) is rude & opionated from what I have seen from her. I have been seen by other dental facilities and this location is the worst by far! read more

I was really pleased when I tried this dental office. I had to change offices because of a change in my health insurance. They took x-rays and Dr. Benjamin Wachter was very friendly and cordial while he reviewed my x-rays and discussed my options. Then Abraham, the hygienist came in to assess what needed to be done. He also was very personable and listened to me as he discussed my teeth. Both Tiffany and Michelle were very nice as assistants and doing c-rays. The only problem that I encountered was with the receptionist who seemed to take a long time coming up with a copay amount using my insurance. The amount she came up with was not the amount Abraham had estimated- or even close. I said it wasn't what I had been quoted and left without making the next appointment. Abraham must have discussed it with her, because she called back with his estimate. So I made another appointment to have the work done. RUN! This company (and office in particilar) is the epitome of up charging services in order to make $. I can assume their dentists make commission bonuses based on the services they provide. They will push for things like "deep cleanings" and dental "crowns" in order to charge your insurance more despite not being necessary. You're essentially an ATM in their eyes. Also their communication regarding billing services is poor at best. I personally switched across the street to parkwood dental and couldn't be happier with the change! Believe the negative reviews ! They told me to show up early for my appointment to fill forms. When I got there, front desk woman would not let me in. She wouldn't even come to the door, so I had to shout through the glass so she could hear me. I couldn't hear a thing she was saying because she spoke softly as if there were I was standing right next to her. Had to wait outside in the cold for about 15 minutes. When I finally got in, they made me wait a very long time (other patients got in first), even though I had the first appointment of the morning. Complained to the manager about this, front desk woman and some other mistakes they made, but apparently nothing was changed. Got really sick several hours later -- for about 4 days -- after the appointment. Was it accidental or intentionally dirty/contaminated instruments or mouth wash...? Also, they refused to send my x-rays to the next dentist I went to. read more

I couldn't have been more impressed with the staff! They are professional, friendly, competent & caring. This is the best dental office I've ever been to and highly recommend it to anyone! I have had typically bad experiences with dentists, as my teeth are very sensitive to cold, let alone being drilled into and I have always had to brace myself for the inevitable hitting of a nerve. But, Yukti Garg, DDS was so good that for the first time, had ZERO pain while getting drilled for a crown. Next, Xena did a great job deep cleaning the left side of my mouth. The next morning I was back for another crown drilling. I actually trusted Yukti so much at this point, that I was able to completely relax the entire time. I was even talking during the novocaine shots, which were also easy and pain free. Xena finished up the deep cleaning of the right side, this time, without novocaine! Aimee also did a great job with everything, i.e., x-rays, temporary crowns, etc. Very funny and personable! I live in San Diego and a few months ago became responsible to coordinate all health care for an older sister, who's in a group home in Mesa. Liberty Dental is the provider on my sister's Medicare Advantage plan. So I find Gentle Dental Mesa East on the Liberty/Anthem website, and when I call Gentle Dental, my first question was: do you take Liberty Dental? Yes. So I make an appointment for my sister, 10 days out, and give Gentle Dental phone numbers for the group home where my sister lives, and my number, making clear to them to call ME first with any changes, since I have to contact various people from 500 miles away. I made the appointment after coordinating with my sister's friend in Mesa, who would take her to and from the appointment. Fast forward to exam day. I get a text from my sister's friend: Gentle Dental cancelled the appointment; they're out of network. Well, stuff happens, right? So I call Gentle Dental and am told, "Our answer service schedules new patients and there's 'lots' of Liberty Dentals." Why wasn't I called about being out of network? "The group home was the only number listed." So Gentle Dental DOESN'T train the answering service THEY hire to ask the right questions to discover if they actually take the insurance. Gentle Dental DOESN'T train THEIR answering service to properly record phone numbers. If that wasn't bad enough, the woman at the Gentle Dental Office (unfortunately I didn't ask her name, or she'd get a shout-out) placed all the blame on the company THEY EMPLOY to deal with new patients, didn't apologize to me, my sister, or the friend who needlessly drove across town, and THEN the actual Gentle Dental employee they pay to deal with the public hung up on me. This place is a joke I have been going there for the last 9 years only because I liked Amy. But since my last cleaning 5 months where the dentist said I needed my crown redone and told me that when they did it they set it wrong and that it would be covered. They set up a appointment and that morning they called me and said they had to cancel my appointment because they need to get it approved by Corp. So since then I have been calling them weekly and they would put me on hold and come back and just say they have not heard anything back. So fast forward to today when I called they said it was denied. Could not give me a reason to why it was. So as of the beginning of the year I will be finding a new Dentist!!! Speaking of Penny the mostest nicest person working the phone,checking you in and handing your Bill as your way out. This week started Tuesday with a new Denitist, Dr. Anitha Goud .My old Doc went to a different location,need a inplant crown adjustment.Well it was a really high lab mistake.The Doc was very pleasant. And the helper was like her side kick. They were that good together, working in a thimble , there moves work like a Swiss watch. She was just about done with the crown. And I ask one of those can you do This. With her day full, sure I'll take a look. Doc Goud so nice ,took care of it with a smile. Well I asked I had lost a back of a crown and she fixed it with such care and kindness.That was 3 sepetate actions without one eye roll or I don"t have time. By Thursday I almost hit a 11 foot ceiling, I just bite down .O! if you ever put a fork in your mouth and touch. Them all at once ,Right to the moon Alice,with the old silver fillings Next to the crown ground down , so I. taught ,wouldn't you think the Dentist. the new one mess up the crown really poped it's top next to it.And I used bleach, Oil of clove, tooth pain medical thumbing. Something. Hears the last but not the least, tooth putty and crazy glue .Yes I did. Don't say why because you all out there in reading this do crazy stuff to.That's it I knew it, so just advent it , wait the best is coming. Friday the A.c.. Blow and it gets better , Saturday early , I have to get back to Gental Dental , right. This month had four teeth pulled, more inplants.no way out of this one, wait hold the phone, I call Penny Lane yes it's her name, major tooth ache.So come right in she said .The place is packed, a new Dentist this doctor is booked up and they only one. I'am trying to sell him on just , build it up and glue it on. I did my best , Doc looks at the x-Ray and it's not looking good. His name is Doctor Boss and his helper is a highly smart women. I seen a year or so ago named Curly. Hears what he tells me I can send you home with pain pills and you might need the surgeon dig it out or I'll see if I can have enough to work with. There are three in the chairs.so you'll have to wait, The pain is a 9. I' am praying he'll pull it. Know this the tooth is below the gum line. This is a really good human being, He tells my surgeon is gone for a week now it is a white knukler. And I'll need a bone graft also another in plant. This Gental Dental Saturday only Dentist is going to pull ,cut gums bone graft and save the wall's of either side by side crowns. Get this I think he is a general Dentist. But he's cool because his rooms are ice cold.he sweates, but he is a cool cat. Doctor Boss was no first timer, he pulled out a 17 mm. Root that was so infected because he knew I did't have any where to go. I know it's a long story but Doctor Boss cared about me , I'm 71 years young, and bein at this Mesa office for5 almost 6 years. If you are looking for a full staff, it starts with Michelle the manager, to the Doctor's asstenance's to all of the clecks Put your mind's at ease ,great people, fair prices, and the really care. I'm so thankful for my level of service that I received at Gental Dental East Mesa. They made me feel special. From the very beginning making my appointment was fast and very efficient. The only negative was that the first appointment you have to be accomplished as a patient first before you get scheduled for your actual treatment. With my first appointment, I had a full exam with X rays. I met with a hygienist and the lovely Dr. They both were very friendly and funny and very thorough and very knowledgeable.They both answered my questions. Then they created a treatment plan for me. My next appointment I got my permanent filing and temporary crown put on and one filing. All staff members were kind and made sure I was well taken care. I absolutely love the Dr. She is very kind and always made sure I was comfortable. The staff made sure my temporary crown was comfortable before I left and truly listened to me as they adjusted it. My next appointment I had my four filings and my permanent crown put on. Again, the Dr. made sure I was comfortable the whole time answering my questions. She has a kind Spirit. My last dentist was aggressive and never explained anything and never took the time with me to make sure I'm comfortable. Also my last dentist said I had more cavities than I truly did. She gave me a thorough exam and confirmed what I truly needed. She was kind and efficient with her staff and made sure I saw all options for my treatment plans. I loved it! When I had my work done I almost fall asleep cause I was so comfortable. Overall , I'm so happy my teeth look great ! I'm going to get my teeth cleaned and sleep guard next. read more

My husband went to Gentle Dental to have an infected wisdom tooth removed. They were not gentle by any means. It was very unfeeling and like an assembly line! I told them that his tooth was infected and they said he wouldn't feel anything once he got the shot but as soon as they started cutting into him they admitted that because of the infection the numbing shots don't work. But they had already started so we had no options. He felt ever bit of that painful procedure and she was yanking his head all around. So much for gentle! Every single assistant was in the room by the end trying to help him keep calm and I was cried when he told me what happened! I feel like this was a cut rate chop shop and I wish I had made an appointment somewhere else! I'll never go back here again! Gentle dental only cares about money. They don't care about their clients. It's all about money. We were there a couple months back and made a deal to get some work done and they said we could make three payments. Today they said they didn't tell us that. They said we had to pay for it all upfront. then after we argued they came back and said we could make two payments. The front desk girls don't have a clue, and what they're doing. They disrespect their clients. I watched them talk to senior citizens as if this poor seniors were in the third grade. The front desk personnel are disrespectful and say whatever they want to get your business. On top of all that their work is pretty shoddy. I had them glue in a crown, and it fell out less than two months later. The dentist is a foreigner and shouldn't be doing an American job. DO NOT GO HERE. This is the worst dental office I've been to. The front office ladies are inconsiderate. And the dentists are only there to profit off people. They charge more than your insurance rates are and refuse to only charge what your insurance rates are. I had 2 crowns done in the same day per the dentist less than a year ago. Only 2 weeks later I returned saying I was in pain and I didn't feel the crown on top sealed completely. I was told all was fine. Still in pain returned again to be told nothing was wrong but they would do a facial cavity to make me feel better. This helped nothing. I've gone to another dentist who says now I need a root canal because of the shotty dentistry done on me. So now I'm out the money on the original crown and must have a root canal and new crown done. Whoever is intending to go to this dental place, I cannot recommend it at all. Their business model from my point of view is totally immoral and careless towards the patient. When I first called this clinic, my idea was to do a regular cleaning. They started doing the X-Rays without my permission or request; I asked if this was going to be part of the cleaning, they said "no, this is only the first appointment". I left the clinic thinking they had a laugh at my face, and feeling like a money wallet. The next appointment I was informed that I owed X amount of $ because my insurance didn't cover those X-Rays that I didn't ask for. The general Dentist Anitha Goud "worked" on my two times, and never heard a word from her, not hello or bye, she was totally indifferent really, which I don't care at all, as long as she did a decent job. The short experience I have had with them was bad, and this is why I would not recommend this to anybody. read more

I needed a place to go for what I call my "mid-life mouth remodel" and I found myself at Gentle Dental in Mesa. Like many others, I had a traumatic dental experience as a child and I was less than thrilled about having to go through this extensive dental process. Aimée is a very kind and supportive dental hygienist​, she taught me how to take care of my teeth and my new bridge. Dr. Chow is truly an artist, I get many compliments about my new dental work. I also received an extraction and a root canal, I have had experience with all the departments except the orthodontist and for me, they were all very positive. I recommend sitting down with Janet in the front office to talk about treatment costs and payment plans. That is what I did. So I went into the process with a full understanding of what was going to happen. I also scheduled my appointments directly with my providers. I think this is the reason why I did not have the bad experiences that others have had. I have no problem recommending this place although I do understand the frustration with the front desk. Went to office as a new patient thinking they were following covid guidelines. None of the front desk staff had masks on. Waited for a long time in the waiting room since no one was there. Four people came in with no masks, was getting nervous and thought about going out to my car but felt the office should have been doing more for the safety of their patients so I left. Less than one! Horrible costly experience! They took out one molar the girl put in one beautiful temporary. When I went back for my permanent bridge the dentist yanked the temporary out cussing and put in 2 baby size teeth then tried charging me for 2 teeth instead of one. I paid them what my 1st quote for the one tooth was but refused to pay more they even submitted this to the main office and they agreed I needed to pay for 2 teeth. I have a fear of dentists. I think my whole family does after years of bad dental service in Chicago. (The Chicago hygienist was so bad that she could make my tough-guy dad cry during a cleaning. I never stood a chance.) Therefore, you can see why we were drawn to a dental office with "gentle" in their name. And they live up to it! I have the most visit-experience with the hygienist, Aimee. She always remembers me, and we can almost pick up a conversation exactly where we left off six months ago. Aimee is thorough of course - my teeth are in excellent and beautiful shape - but she cleans my teeth in such a way that my gums aren't sore for three days afterwards. To her I can answer honestly that, yes, I am flossing, but no, not as often as I should, and she just politely reminds me of how flossing would improve specific areas of my mouth; she never makes me feel embarrassed or guilty. Let me put it this way: I live in Central Phoenix and happily drive out to East Mesa every six months to go to Gentle Dental and see Aimee. When you've found a good dentist that doesn't give you anxiety for the week leading up to the appointment, you know you've got a keeper. read more

I won't even give them one star if I could. Had my two kids get there wisdom teeth removed there. I had no choice because of insurance. The staff if rude the orthodontist that did the work actually complained because my daughter had to be put under because of medical reasons she was mad because the insurance wasn't charged because they didn't do their job and put in for Anastasia so I paid 120.00 out of pocket which was less then they charge the insurance. She was yelling as I was sitting in the waiting room so I could hear her said that I she is being cheated money and I did it on purpose by not going through insurance. Ah no it was your fault. Top it off when procedure was done I was let in the back to get my daughter she was soaked because of the IV bad leaking on her the bag had a hole in it she was supper cold as soaking wet and they rushed us out of the back not caring that it was cold out side and she was wet. Gentle dental really lives up to the name! My doctors all had me laughing during each of my treatments. I brought my wife who is absolutely terrified of the dentist, and they got her through her work with ease. I'll definitely be back to get all of my work done here.
