This place is an absolute joke, and my recent experience with their billing practices has been nothing short of unacceptable. I was a patient here for several years before ultimately deciding to move to a far better dental office due to what I felt was consistently inadequate and, at times, disrespectful care. Over a year after I stopped receiving treatment here, I suddenly received a bill in the mail claiming I had an outstanding balance. This immediately raised a red flag because I have always paid my balance in full at the end of every visit. When I called to ask about it, the staff member I spoke with told me it was likely a discrepancy related to their transition to a new billing system and that many patients had received incorrect balances. I was explicitly told not to worry about it and to ignore any additional notices while they worked with their financial team to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, that reassurance turned out to be completely meaningless. Over the course of the following year, I called at least seven separate times regarding the same bill. Every single time I was told some version of the same thing: "Don't worry about it, the balance isn't accurate, please disregard it." Not once during those many calls did anyone take ownership of the issue or resolve it properly. Then, out of nowhere, I received a letter stating that my account had been sent to collections for the exact balance I had repeatedly been told to ignore. When I called Gentle Dental to ask how something like this could possibly happen after a year of being reassured that the bill was incorrect, I was told they would "look into it" and get back to me. Today I received that call, only to be told that the balance is apparently legitimate and that I now need to deal with the collections agency myself. Let that sink in: after over a year of being told to ignore the bill, and after multiple phone calls seeking clarification, they somehow missed this every single time and allowed it to escalate to collections. This level of disorganization and negligence is staggering. A dental office should be able to manage something as basic as billing accuracy and patient communication. Instead, they repeatedly dismissed the issue, provided incorrect information, and ultimately pushed the consequences onto the patient. What is most frustrating is that this entire situation was completely avoidable. Had anyone taken the time to properly review the account and resolve the discrepancy when I first called, none of this would have happened. If this is how they handle billing and patient concerns, I strongly encourage others to think twice before trusting this office with their care. read more

Office Experience, If at any time you are to find yourself at a place or situation where you realize that places like this main focus is profit versus human compassion and care. Leave right away, it tells you that the rest of this establishment does deserve your support. I brought a kid who's autistic , homeless and has other disabilities. He had been suffering from two tooth cavities and a couple teeth that needed to be removed. Dr. Nassar was marvelous and explained how would the process be and that it could take many additional referrals from Denti-Cal obviously. On the other hand, the front desk provided a cost bill of over 4k and after I asked if would he possible to work only on what the insurance would cover they added that unfortunately they would not be able to treat him at all. What are you to expect from a place that even though we brought his previous X-rays , they insisted on redoing them again cause they were low quality. Interesting enough, I heard the same suggestion over the other room with another patient. ​After being loyal patients here for years, the quality of care at Gentle Dental Orange has completely collapsed. This office is owned by InterDent, and it is clear that private equity profit margins now take priority over patient health and professional ethics. ​My experience on Jan 17th began with them unilaterally moving my appointment time and then rudely informing me I'd be canceled if I wasn't there by the "new" time. The receptionist was untrained and unprofessional, making vague, unsettling comments about the "type of treatment" I'd receive once in the chair. ​It only got worse. My son was pressured for a $200 "laser treatment" he'd never needed before; when he finished his exam, he was left laying back in the chair with his bib on, only for the receptionist to walk in and rudely ask why he was still there. ​The final straw was my husband's appointment on Jan 24th. He was quoted $1,200 for a laser treatment. When he requested a standard cleaning instead, he was told no one was "available" for a cleaning, despite staff being available for the expensive upsell. The office manager was combative, argumentative, and interrupted him while he was speaking to the dentist. They ultimately claimed a standard cleaning was a "liability"--a transparent excuse to force a high-cost service. ​We are currently following up with a second opinion. If our new dentist finds that my husband does not have advanced gum disease, we will be including that information in a formal report to the Dental Board of California. ​ We are done. If you value professional integrity, honest dentistry, and most importantly your TEETH stay away from this corporate-run upsell mill. read more

Shysters. Unprofessional. Only had my teeth cleaned twice and in both cases their office cancelled and rescheduled because of lack of scheduled appointments for their cleaners. When I did go in for teeth cleaning appt they had me waiting around for 50+ minutes after my scheduled time then refused to do it without me authorizing X-rays which another had done within the last 3 months. At my previous cleaning appointment they wanted to take unnecessary X-rays without my asking. They hadn't bothered to see they weren't due per insurance limits. Recommended 3 cleaning / year without checking my insurance limits. They don't track gum decay on scale when they do cleanings so can't say if it's doing the same or worse between visits like other dentists I've been to. When I did complain about a teeth pain, the dentist didn't bother with looking at the X-rays from my previous visit. The dentist started talking about a possible root canal They submitted a couple requests to Medi-cal and these were denied. Won't be going back. Too shady and unprofessional. read more

I want to make a bit complain about their unprofessional and late up charge 1. We went for our schedule extraction for our special needs daughter with diabetes. We arrived on time and we got told at the last second that they couldn't get in touch with Anesthesiologist. We couldn't do that because my daughter didn't anything all day and she's diabetic but they wanted her to come back at 2 pm for the procedure. 2. They inform we have to pay $900 dollar for Anesthesiologist. Then they said my daughter needs bone graft 8 of them and it would cost us $600 each???? Why they don't inform us the total price before the schedule the surgery?? They just told us the last minute that we have to come up another $5000. We end up not go with the procedure because we don't rust them. I should have read the reviews, imagine if he made a mistake with my daughter surgery, we would risk my daughter life. They show account ability. They even charge us the money $1400 prior that we thought for everything and now I hope I can get my money back, otherwise I will make a complain to the BBB Please don't come to this dental office especially if your child has a medical condition, they don't take that to consideration. read more

I am compelled to document an extremely troubling and unprofessional experience I had with the office manager, Yanely. Her conduct fell far below the standard expected in any healthcare environment. From the outset, the office manager, Yanely, communicated in a cold, condescending, and monotone manner that conveyed a clear lack of respect and regard. Her flat affect and dismissive tone created an atmosphere that was immediately uncomfortable and unnecessarily adversarial. Rather than demonstrating empathy or professionalism, she repeatedly deflected responsibility onto me in a way that felt both inappropriate and accusatory. Additionally, she directed comments toward my mother, suggesting that I needed to "speak more warmly" in order to receive a different response from her. This was both unprofessional and misplaced. At no point did I raise my voice or use profanity. I simply mirrored the tone she established at the start of the interaction. What made the interaction particularly concerning was her persistent need to assert authority. She repeatedly emphasized her title as "the manager," creating an unmistakable power struggle that had no place in a patient care setting. Despite the simplicity of the task at hand, obtaining a signature for treatment, she insisted on inserting herself into the situation when it was entirely unnecessary. This could have easily and appropriately been handled by an assistant. Instead, she remained in the room for an extended period, imposing herself into the interaction and insisting that I engage with her directly when I could have worked with someone else. This behavior felt controlling, excessive, and highly unprofessional. Most alarming was her decision to remove my mother from the room without consent. Not only did she instruct her to leave, but she physically removed her dental drape, an action that felt intrusive and inappropriate. This overstep of personal boundaries was unacceptable and demonstrated a serious lapse in judgment. Overall, this experience reflected a pattern of poor communication, misuse of authority, and a lack of respect for patient autonomy and comfort. The office manager's behavior was not only unprofessional but also disruptive to what should have been a straightforward and respectful interaction. Situations like this raise serious concerns about the management culture within the practice and should be addressed immediately. I can only imagine how it is for her subordinates, aside from her mini version, Genesis, who also does not have the soft skills needed for their roles. read more

If you value your teeth, do not come here! (Failed treatments and endless billing) I originally chose Gentle Dental simply because it was close to my home--a decision I now deeply regret. First, they insisted that a tooth I had treated with a root canal years ago was inflamed and pressured me into retreatment. I agreed, only to find that the inflammation never improved and, worse, they destroyed a crown that had been perfectly fine for over seven years. The replacement crown they made lasted less than one year before breaking. Instead of taking responsibility, Gentle Dental charged me again for a new crown. At the time, I didn't realize that no crown should ever fail in just one year, and that they should have covered the cost themselves. My insurance refused to pay for their mistake, and then the clinic demanded $440 out of pocket and even threatened to send me to collections. The outcome of their treatment has been devastating: My entire right side has been in constant pain for three months since they did the filling and crown replacement. A crown that broke in just one year. When I asked about it, the front desk dismissed the problem by blaming me for not wearing a night guard. They even mocked me for buying a $100 guard elsewhere instead of paying them $300 for one of theirs. So I ask: why do you charge such high fees if your crowns can't even last a year? Why is my pain worse now than before your treatment? I will be seeking an independent evaluation from a new dentist and preparing a full report. I also intend to contact the State Dental Board, the Better Business Bureau, and my dental insurance. And if necessary--we'll see each other in small claims court. Gentle Dental did not provide gentle care. They provided failed treatments, poor service, and predatory billing. Please save yourself the pain, cost, and regret. read more

I did all the steps they told me to for my insurance, then at 9:20 they call me and tell if I come at 10 I will probably not get same day treatment because their lunch is at 11. They asked at 9:20 if I can come in at 9:30 to increase my chances of same day treatment. I got here at 9:36, and they told me that there's a wait and no promises, just giving the runaround. These people are liars the manager stated if I paid half the bill which I did . they would expunge the remainder of balance for something I didn't even agree to or gotten. This been going on for a year still sending bills to old address and emails. They haven't given a receipt because I did pay half so they can leave me alone but they continue and refuses to give me a receipt stating that was agreement and half was paid. They keep saying billing issues they will fix it. They need to fire billing and management. Please beware of this place this been going on for a year. Don't go here unless you want to be lied too........ I went in for a full evaluation of all the work I needed to get done before I have my cancer treatment done . So the first dentist I see does a cleaning and x-rays of my entire mouth , I already knew I needed a tooth pulled . So then comes up with a bill of $3000 for tooth removal and cleaning with dentures to fill the missing teeth. I signed up for a payment plan to pay for it all. After the evaluation the dentist tells me to come back for the tooth removal at a later date then proceeds to tell me I have no cavities so I am all good to go. I say to her I have no cavities ? She tell me nope no cavities !! I say cool ok . So I come back at a later date to get the tooth pulled , it's a different dentist at the time she proceeds prep to pull the tooth then she takes a look at my mouth and tells me why am I not getting any of the cavities delt with , I tell her the other dentist said I don't have any cavities She tell me look , shows me with a mirror, do you see that brown dot on your tooth that's a cavity. She then does a full evaluation and finds 8 cavities a couple of fillings and a few crowns I need. I tell her why didn't the other dentist find all these problems but instead tells me I have no cavities. What kind of half ass dental office is this !!!! You come in and get a half ass evaluation!!! I am so pissed. Then try's telling me they are going to have meeting with both dentist and call me the next day to figure out what they are going to do about this issue Of course no call and it's been a week now. My opinion find another place to go get your dental work done this place does half ass work and does not take responsibility for there fuck ups The better business bureau will be here from me about this ...... read more

If it the only insurance you have, then you use it. Be aware they are all about upselling. You cannot get your teeth clean because you need a deep cleaning (many dentists do that now) and deep cleaning is very expensive even with insurance. Do yourself a fave or and go to the local dental hygienist school and get it done for $20. Recently I had a molar that caused me great pain and it took several weeks before they could see me. When I did get in and examined I was told I needed almost $9000 worth of work and the molar would need to be cared for by their specialist and he wouldn't be in for another 6 weeks. Finally got it taken care of, but get this, when the regular dentist was getting ready to put in a new crown I was handed a tablet and asked to sign for the consent form. Shouldn't that have been read and signed before I got in the room? I will say that the specialist was excellent and caused me no pain. I just pray that the work done will hold up. If I need the work they suggested, I would go across the border before I ever put out that kind of money. Oh by the way, there is only one dentist doing all the work. read more

The receptionist at the front is a B.I.T.C.H... no hello, no welcome just a ghetto stare. She pretty much wanted to throw the clipboard at me. I did get checked in with in 10 mins. Once I got to the back office ti get my cleaning I could hear the the patient next door getting worked on (FYI: NO DOORS/ NO PRIVACY). I tried to get sold some enamel and a night guard b4 seeing the dentist. Once the assistant left I fell asleep for 15 to 20 min. Then got woken up and they went to town on my teeth. Once got to the front that sane lady was mad dogging me and I said have a nice day!, all she said was Bye with a condescending voice. This will probably be my last time here. I never understand what people meant by "SHADY dentist" until I went here. I chose this place purely based on location (close to work for mid day appts). I figured with **healthy teeth**, never having a cavity since about age 10 & past dentists saying I had excellent bone density... it should not matter how great the dentist I chose was. I just needed by biannual teeth cleanings. First visit, I walked in with no pain. They found multiple "cavities" when I asked to see the X-ray & for further explanation they didn't seem pleased. They also couldn't explain the difference between a stain (in a back tooth) and a cavity .... Pretty sure I had a stain drilled & filled. Fast forward a year, they tried to tell me the same tooth they put a filling in a year ago was a cavity. I had to prompt them to look at the past years scan. Nice try. After the most aggressive "cleaning" I've ever had, the hygienist told me my gums bled a little, so I should make sure to brush daily ... but "don't worry, with practice you'll get better." Demeaning much? They also *automatically* add on additional cost services that insurance doesn't cover, rather than asking if you'd like to add it on. Ethical? Shady! Working in healthcare myself, it frustrates me to see a practice taking advantage of patients who aren't as willing to ask questions or know the right questions to ask. Goodbye forever shady practice. Not worth it even for a teeth cleaning. Plus the stained old light above you the whole time, gross touch to stare at for an hour. read more

As a 68 year old senior citizen on a fixed income, I went to Gentle Dental because I had a tooth ache. I was told I needed a dose of Arestin. After I paid $236.00, my tooth pain got worse. I went to a different dentist, and was told I needed a Root Canal, and a Crown. Because I wasted $236.00, I feel I should be reimbursed. This Dental is always trying to upsell you. I came here only once for a routine cleaning and check up. My last dentist was out in Pasadena so this was more conveniently located. I saw Dr. Reza. I debated posting anything but I really feel bothered by the whole thing. We started on a bad foot when they hadn't verified my insurance information before I got there. I gave them the info when I called to make the appointment. They spent a good 45 minutes calling to verify but then said they would start me on X-rays and the eval while I wait, if I didn't have coverage then the X-rays were free! Wow much generous. They didn't confirm anything with me until after everything had been done and were ready to talk financials. Oh yeah, I did have coverage. My biggest peeve about my experience was that the dentist basically shouted out all my health conditions and the medications I take for them. There are no offices or closed walls so every other patient and employee in that office heard. This was my sensitive, protected health information. I wanted to say, should we call the Taco Bell and see if they got that down too? In case they didn't hear? Then they told me I didn't have a crown on a root canal done by the endo I saw. I said, I'm pretty sure I have a crown, it's my mouth I'd know. I was told no, I need a full work up and build up etc etc. okay...come to find out during my exam the crown was there. I'm sorry this wasn't the money grab you thought it was going to be. Then I casually mention maybe I grind my teeth, I'm not sure, and then I'm sold some custom night guard that the dentist couldn't tell me exactly how much I needed, even though I specifically asked. It was a sales pitch and nothing personal to my needs or wants. I got the cleaning I came in for, and much to their disappointment could not find cavities or anything wrong really. Sales push for braces I don't need, talking about teeth rotation, which I told them was hereditary it's not a defect and has no effect on my ability to do anything. If there's any reason anyone wouldn't like going to the dentist it's this. I can deal with pain and cavities and whatnot but don't push unnecessary treatments and definitely don't announce anyone's personal health conditions for everyone to hear. read more

Highly recommended. I went in for my general check up and cleaning on 7/24/2023. I felt welcomed as soon as i stepped foot in the office. The front staff is professional, kind and attentive. As soon as i was called in by the hygienist Lisa, i was greeted with a smile and a "welcome to our office". We took some xrays, Dr. Loung came in and did my exam. Everything looked good, quick peek at my teeth, no cavities. Proceeded with my cleaning with Lisa. She was gentle with my cleaning. Recommended some arestin (locally placed antibiotic). Got it done, finished the cleaning and headed to the front to schedule my next check up and cleaning appointment. Leticia and Marlo answered any questions i had and helped with my appointment. Paid my dues and got on about my day. Not much wait although we are called patients for a reason just incase there is a bit of a wait. Very professional and clean office. I LOVE this place. We came here for my daughters dental work (high anxiety) she needed braces and 4 extraction. They were great at helping with a payment plan for both. She had her extraction (4 teeth at once) done today with some nitrogen oxide to help ease the anxiety, and she did GREAT. The Dentist was AMAZING along with her assistant. The couple of times my daughter did feel some pain the Dentist was quick to pause and add some anesthesia and give my daightef her time to breath, she never once tried to force or rush the process and this meant the world to myself and my daughter. Thanks to thIs place my daughters anxiety with dental work is gone. We definitely will not be looking for any other dentist soon. I understand COVID delays, trust me, I do & I respect the work they do here. However, there is something about life called HONESTY & COMMUNICATION!!!!!!! These are 2 skills this office DOES NOT HAVE! My appmt was at 10:30, I was told (only because I ASKED) that they are short staffed & 30-40 min behind. No problem, I waited 1 hour to give them the benefit of doubt & no one told me anything up to 1 hour of me waiting...I stand & ask when it will be my turn..."oh im sorry its still going to be ONE MORE HOUR!" Again, I said no problem I live 10 min away call me in 1 hour when Its my turn- give the girl my # with no apology or any sympathy. I go home, understanding they are short staff etc, 1 hour passes & NO phone call, I call them- no answer- I SHOW UP- & STILL ANOTHER "15 minutes" which turned out to be more like 30 MINUTES! You know, if they had BASIC, sincere customer service skills they'd get 5 stars but sometimes when you're genuinely apologetic, honest, & if you just COMMUNICATE- things would be so much more simple. read more
