So happy we picked GG for our local move from a city apartment to a larger space in the suburbs. We had never used professional movers before, always just did it ourselves, but did not regret hiring these guys and it is 1000% worth it. Viktor, Quintin, and Josue were super professional and easy to work with throughout the entire process - from the initial price quote, dropping off the moving boxes and tape and packing paper, to arriving the day of on time and handling all of our boxes and furniture with utmost care. We used GG for an interstate move and I am SO glad we did. You hear horror stories about dealing with moving companies and GG went out of their way to make our move a positive experience. George S., our scheduler, was great. We changed our mind after the first estimate and added a bunch of stuff and he was able to get a second estimate and accommodate the changes. The guys doing the estimates were on time and professional. Communication about the status of the move was great. Kenny was our crew chief and I can't say enough good things about him. He was superb! He and Brandon, who brought our stuff from the Eastside of Seattle took care of our items like they belonged to family. They were friendly, timely and professional. We could not have asked for a better team. There was a bit of a mix up with the invoice at the end of the process, but George got that resolved. I understand that GG treats their employees well. I had scheduled and used Gentle Giant a year ago during the start of the pandemic (Mar 2020), so this review is way late but still deserving. As the COVID restrictions started, communications went out early and established clear guidelines for everyone. Overall, very efficient, professional, and made the move easy. Nothing damaged or missing and I'll definitely contact them again for my next move. The team (two people) showed up on time, took a look at what they were working with, and got directly to work. I stayed in a separate room while they worked on taking apart the larger furniture, packaging, and moving everything out to the truck. They were courteous and well-prepared with furniture blankets, dollies, tape, and protective wrap for all of my stuff. Unloading was just as efficient. Larger furniture was unpacked and assembled with everything in place and no damage to any of my things. Took about two hours to pack and load, an hour and a half for transport, and two hours to unload and unpack, total of about six hours for a 1 bed/1 bath. ABSOLUTE PERFECTION - Gentle Giant could not have done anything better for our move. I've had some VERY bad movers and was wary - but no more. Moved a 2 BR apt approx 40 miles from Auburn to Bothell, WA during COVID-19. Got frequent updates and fast responses to inquiries as we were afraid they'd have to cancel due to quarantine. But no - they kept us on schedule, though we had to show apartment, give instructions, and then leave them to it in order to avoid any germs. Patrick, the supervisor, and his 2-man crew were attentive, friendly, and careful. They also did a few very thoughtful things without us asking - like bring our welcome mat and reinstalling a door we'd taken off in Auburn. When they arrived at new apartment, Patrick asked me to walk him through and show him where we wanted things. Which worked much better than previous movers who asked about EVERY SINGLE ITEM despite the fact boxes were clearly marked, which got very old after 2 hours. The Gentle Giant team was in constant motion unloading the truck, using wheeled bins and other methods to be efficient and save time. Whereas the movers we'd used previously would ALL go to the truck at once, chitchat for 5 minutes, then come back each holding one thing. Absolutely no goldbricking from Gentle Giant - they were fast and efficient. Cost came in within estimated range. We had a local move from both a rental house and storage unit into our new home. We had a horrible experience with a cross-country moving company and were hoping this would be different. These guys rock! A friend of mine recommended them to us for our move from our Seattle condo to our new house on Bainbridge Island. Everything about the process was easy: communication, completing the estimate, scheduling, the pre-prep and pack the day before the moving day, and the moving day itself. Only thing I would change in the future is having them do all the packing for me. The crew was fast, efficient, and used blankets for protecting our furniture (which is a nice environmentally friendly factor). I never once worried about them damaging any of my things despite how efficient they were. By the time Gentle Giants showed up on my pre-prep and pack day, I was absolutely exhausted from doing a lot of my move without my husband, who was traveling for business. The crew made me feel so supported and let me know that they were there to assist me with anything that I couldn't, or didn't want to, pack myself. Had an uneventful move from Seattle to Lynnwood. The movers were courteous, quick and careful with my items. Nothing was damaged and everything was placed where I requested. The movers got to my apartment right on time with a 30 minutes heads up. The estimate was semi-accurate (actual was somewhat higher). We've had yet another amazing move with Gentle Giant! These guys are seriously the best. First of all, if you're on the fence about getting movers, pull the trigger. They're worth every penny. You can have your move done in a half day instead of spending one or two long exhausting days torturing your friends to move your stuff, you have professionals who take great care with everything and do it fast. Simply amazing - Had a move from Capitol Hill to West Seattle a week or two ago - the movers called ahead to confirm the time, hustled hard while they were onsite, were extremely professional and took special care of my furniture, and estimate was on the dot and very reasonable. Hey there. I've done this movers thing before. This was on the side of shady where, if I had heard of this happening to someone else, I wouldn't have used them. But there was a Yelp Deal, so I thought, how bad could it be? I'm already saving $50 off of the bill. Spoiler answer: more than an hour and a half of fictitious drive time. These cats worked hard for about two hours and fifteen minutes, and the guys who showed up were tipped for being the hard working bros they are. The business matters however, a little less sterling. "Oh we had to drive from South Renton" Note the address on this Yelp review. It doesn't take an hour to drive from a South Renton warehouse unless you stop for lunch and actively decided that I should pay for your dudes lunch hour. Sorry. That's bullshit. It also wasn't mentioned as part of the deal "state law terms of carriage" or not. Not mentioned in the quote means not part of the deal to me. Our deal was that they show up, they charge me for the time it took, and perhaps a little padding. Fine. No problem. Pushing two hours of padding for commuting is baloney and they know it. I left a voicemail, plainly stated my issue, and waited for a call back. No response. I called a couple more times before getting Matt, the guy who made the initial deal with me and then developed amnesia with case notes, on the phone and his promises of following up with the driver (aka as "you are lying to me") and then not following up. Forget about these guys. Use one of the local moving companies that isn't full of scam and save yourself a couple hundred dollars in scamcharges. read more

I've probably moved about 11 times since I moved to Seattle in 1999 and Gentle Giant are by FAR the best movers in the city. I called a couple of other places before I found them but no one could guarantee their arrival time. It was important to us because there is only street parking in front of our apartment during certain times of the day. Gentle GIant understood the importance of a good parking spot downtown and was willing to set a specific time. It started snowing the night before our move (rare in Seattle) so we assumed that they would cancel. We got a call at 8:15 a.m. telling us they were on their way over. When they arrived they were all really genuinely nice guys who moved all our stuff out in no time at all. The move was within a half hour of their estimate even though we ended up having more stuff than we had told them. If I ever move again, I'll happily use their services again. Hiring Gentle Giant Moving Company was just about the smartest thing I did last week. Moving two households to a third location, we were stressed out about the chaos that we, incorrectly, presumed would ensue. With Eric, Stephan, and Ian on the case, they got this job done in half the time I'd anticipated it would take at a very reasonable rate. When three efficient, professional, brawny, nice men execute a grueling task in short order, treating your belongings as carefully, if not more so, than if they were their own, you know you're in good hands. We definitely were. In addition to the careful handling and packing of our goods, they arrived within the first 30 minutes of the appointed time frame for arrival, calling 20 minutes ahead of time to let us know they were on their way. We really appreciated their timely arrival. When they got done putting our things into our storage unit, it looked like a game of Tetris. They had packed everything in so perfectly that we have plenty of room left over for anything else we might need to temporarily store. It was great. I really can't say enough good things about the caliber of their work. But to put the icing on the cake, all three of those guys were very affable and had a great customer service ethic that was really appreciated. Updated 2/1/10: I received three phone calls in regards to my Yelp review. One from quality control, one manager, and lastly the local rep for Gentle Giant. He was very apologetic about how things went and promised that future moves (it's quite likely that we or someone we know will need to move) will go smoothly. I appreciate the phone calls and trust that they were all genuine. We received substantial compensation for our experience and an offer to speak with the local rep directly next time. I imagine that we had an isolated experience based on the other reviews and how we've been treated since the move. After my conversation this morning I would call Gentle Giant again. Probably not in the near future, but I'd give them my recommendation to friends and family after they had a chance to read this review. The movers are *awesome*. They did a great job, were prompt, took good care of our furniture and moved everything quickly. The problems were with the corporate office. It all started when I was trying to schedule a move + storage. I played phone tag with Jeff over and over and over. I felt like I had to keep calling him. I really wish at that point I had just gone with a different moving company. If they really wanted my business I would think they would have made more of an effort to call me. I finally ended up calling the main line and asking for a different associate. I got Sean this time who scheduled the move and told me he would send me a confirmation email. I waited and waited for a confirmation email but did not get one. In fact, I ended up having to ask three times before I got one. Each time being assured that my email was entered correctly when it wasn't. The day before the move an associate called me to confirm everything and I was informed that there was a three hour minimum. Up to that point everyone had told me it was a two hour minimum. This was the third time I asked for an email confirmation because I wanted it in writing that I was being charged for the two hour minimum. There was just NO way it was going to take them more than an hour, *maybe* two hours to move my stuff. read more

I wish I could have written a more thorough review of them but they never gave me that opportunity. I had initially contacted them and left a message regarding my interstate move. They called me back 2 days later at 8:30 AM. I thought it was a little unprofessional to call so early. I returned their call a few hours later and had to leave another message. They called me back 2 days later, again at 8:30 AM. I called them back that afternoon and left them yet another message letting them know of the time sensitivity of the move. I have not heard from them to this day. Obviously I went with someone else. I don't know what happened because the other reviews have been nothing but outstanding. Maybe they prefer not to do interstate moves and is more of a local moving company. If that is the case, then they should state that on their website and not advertise themselves as an interstate moving company. read more

Cost/Professionalism: I got three different estimates and not only did these guys come in lower than everyone else, they didnt have a pushy "sales guy" pitch what so ever. I felt 100% comfortable with them and knew I had my movers as soon as we did our walk through. Preparation: Boxes, boxes and more boxes! As a business we had TONS of product to move- they provided multiple bundles of boxes, they were flexible with the alley and elevators and they had a great Move Coordinator that kept in touch with me throughout the weeks before the actual move. I had a large move -- 4600 sq. ft. home where we had lived for 17 years. Everyone involved went the extra mile to ensure that the move went smoothly. Erik did our cost estimate and move arrangements. He was thorough, responsive, and very professional. The packing and moving team was top-notch. They wrapped eveything with care while working quickly and efficiently. They used common sense, ensuring that things like our keys and passports weren't packed (a previous mover packed our garbage cans with the garbage in it...duh!). They moved difficult items -- grand piano, pool table, and professional size treadmill. They worked as a well-organized team. And perhaps best of all, they were friendly, knowledgeable, and professional, which eased my anxiety. We moved most of our belongings into a large, tall storage unit. The way Rick stacked things to utilize every bit of the space was nothing short of amazing. Then, there was an issue (my fault) with the final payment. Was very apprehensive about hiring movers and based on the outstanding reviews on Yelp decided to go with Gentle Giant. Nick and Bruce showed up on time, were friendly and efficient. I was impressed by their politeness and eagerness to get the job done right. The only thing that prevents me from giving them five stars is that our 'new to us' vintage coffee table has a pretty big nick in it now. But on the whole I would recommend hiring Gentle Giant. I come from New York. Needless to say, I'm familiar with some TERRIBLE moving companies. I also am extremely selective and needy when it comes to my movers. They need to be on time, they need to be at least somewhat courteous, they need to be fast, they need to be inexpensive, and they need to get the job right the first time. Gentle Giant Moving Company met and exceeded each and every one of my expectations. The man who runs the company, Nick, is an absolutely sweet and wonderful guy, and he made sure that everything was perfectly in order. He (and his other movers) were on top of everything, making sure to be very careful with our furniture and pack everything well. The movers are generally college athletes or recent graduates, and are very strong (and 2 of the three that moved us were really Giants - over 6'3"!). They were also all quite courteous, and they moved our furniture up two flights of stairs without complaint. I've never had such a pleasant experience moving before, and so long as we remain in Seattle, I will continue to do my moving with the Gentle Giants. read more

We were thrilled with our experience with Gentle Giant. The crew was exceptionally kind and considerate, both to my family and our belongings. I felt like I could completely relax and let them do the work. I was impressed that they wrapped all the large or delicate pieces of furniture; not a single item was damaged. The crew was equally considerate of the walls in our "new" 95 year-old home, even working around very narrow halls and doorways flawlessly. The crew communicated with each other quite well. They moved at a good clip, although I appreciated that they were more interested in taking care of us than rushing through the job. The job came in well under estimate. Oh, and speaking of estimates, I was blown away by the level of communication before the move! I appreciated feeling like they had everything well in hand; I received several emails settling details and checking up on me to see how everything was going in the weeks leading up to the move. The only thing that I will say is that our moving window was between 12 and 4, and because of a hangup at the previous job, the crew didn't arrive until 4. That was okay, but I think in future a quick call to say "Yeah, we're really not going to be there until 4" would be cool. It all worked out, but that call would have completed the "royal treatment" experience. Also, a tip: if you move during the week, you avoid the 4-hour minimum. I recently hired GG to help me move across town. I am a single female, not at all handy and was quite anxious about moving on my own. Would I feel safe with strangers helping me move? How would anyone get my kitchen table down my tricky stairwell? Would I have to put my bed frame back together? What if I can't find proper boxes for my electronics? I was so relieved that GG took care of everything!! And, I mean EVERYTHING. While I packed most items, they wrapped every single piece of furniture and all my electronics. Everything made it without a scratch. The placed all my furniture in spots I wanted and even offered helpful suggestions. They totally understood my security needs too - they made sure nothing was left unattended, doors were not propped open, etc. Stefan, Shawty and Matthew were really nice, super fast and really helpful. Thank you. I did have issues scheduling. I had to call several times to plan my move and some calls/emails were not returned. On the day of my move, I did not get the "phone ahead" call for the movers' ETA. I was pretty nervous they were not going to show up on the day of my move because they arrived at the tail end of reservation window. However, once my actually move started, I had white glove, 5 star service. I would definitely use GG again! read more

The crew was AMAZING -- polite, friendly, patient and extremely careful and respectful of my belongings. One item of furniture was damaged (a glass door on a cabinet) but it was promptly brought to my attention and they are having it repaired and bringing it back to be reinstalled on their dime. No other damages -- no nicks or dings on the walls or furniture, no scratches -- and all boxes and furniture ended up in the places I requested. They even cheerfully re-moved furniture that I changed my mind about, hauling bulky bookcases back up a flight of stairs with no complaints. And before leaving they asked us to take another look around and make sure there was nothing else that they could help us with and make sure that we were happy with all of the furniture placement. Our move took significantly less time than originally estimated due to our having packed everything well and moved some stuff on our own when our move got postponed due to closing delays on our new house. I couldn't be happier with the service they provided. I would wholeheartedly recommend them and would gladly call them again for any future moves. I've moved 3 times since Sept. 2007 (once across the country and two local moves) and this is the only company that I have been happy with. This was our second time using Gentle Giants. The first time I had no complaints. This time, however, I do. Multiple pieces of our furniture have damage ranging from scratches to stains. The stains I can only assume are from the fire pit that they loaded without bothering to cover or dump it out. When the movers at our new location opened the truck to begin unloading they called me out before they started and said "we've never seen a packing job like this. If we did this, we'd be fired." There was soot and ash all over our furniture. Some pieces were stacked on other pieces with no padding in between allowing them to run and scratch each other. Gentle Giants insisted when I scheduled the appointment that they didn't need to use blankets or straps. Now, why they would say that and then damage our furniture by stacking it without protection, I don't know. We're very very disappointed. I could see something like this happening with a company that was cheap and/or had poor reviews, but at the price Gentle Giants charges, and given their reputation, we were shocked. Update: I had also filled out the review that Gentle Giants sent through email to garner feedback, but I haven't heard anything at all from them about that review, or this one. Gentle Giants has worked to correct and repair our relationship by reimbursing us for the damaged lamp. They also sent out cleaners at their expense, unfortunately they weren't able to do much. Although I'm still disappointed with our experience, I did appreciate their efforts to make it right. read more

Gentle Giant made my recent move smooth and easy during an especially stressful and chaotic time of the year. I was moving across the Seattle metro area during the holiday season and Matt and Rachael were able to find a moving slot and accommodate an unexpected schedule change (never ideal!). The moving crew headed by Drew with Josh, Will, Jared, and Luke were extremely efficient in the packing and loading of everything. During the unloading, we had some snow in the area, and Drew and the crew came prepared with everything they needed for a safe unload of everything - absolutely nothing was damaged, nothing was missing - remarkably flawless move despite the inclement weather situation! Luke even came back at the end of the week to pick up all the boxes that were used during the move so they could be recycled.
