I'm not a fan of paying for the smallest pour as sometimes you might not really like what you get. And the cheese boards are meh. But that's not why anyone would go there, eh? I love this place! I went for the first time Thursday night. They had live music (he was fantastic) and a chill, upbeat vibe. Our cheese board was delicious, and no complaints! Cool concept, terrible music. The decor looks run of the mill... outside of the self pour concept, this place doesn't offer much as a unique addition to the downtown Phoenix area. This definitely feels more like an establishment you'd run into in downtown Scottsdale. The wine was pretty expensive. I paid almost $10.50 for a regular pour. Seriously, I know music sounds like a petty complaint, but it was a playlist of Bad Touch by the Bloodhound Gang and hardcore 90's rap screaming the N-word. Seemed very tone deaf. read more

This was my first time at a wine bar so, my friend and I were really excited to go because of the self-serve wine. We go in at around 8pm and there's only a couple of people there but immediately the people were attentive and gave us a run down of how it all ran. We get or wine cards and our wine glasses and we started our evening. The prices of the wines vary on each wine but you get to choose 1oz, 5oz, and 8oz and the prices are listed on each one you pick. There is also a small description on how the wine will taste. We each ordered a cheese board with 2 cheeses, one meat, and assorted crackers. I would like to knock half a star off because we only got 6 crackers and we had a lot of meats and cheese, I just felt like the ratio wasn't that great, but it wasn't a big deal. Maybe next time we'll get pita chips and that will be more. After 3 glasses of wine later, and full of meats and cheese we called it a night at 10pm. The total I spent was $22 and I paid 18% gratuity which came up to $26! That wasn't a bad deal to me at all! The atmosphere was great, someone in a review complained about how the music was like 90's rap but when we went the music was just acoustic covers of songs or jazz. It wasn't bad but there wasn't a general theme of songs, it just felt relaxed. You come here to talk with friends not to dance, so don't expect EDM songs to blast through the speakers. They had tons of games and I feel like you could easily spend a really good time here and catch up with an old friend or hang out with your friends and just chill. I will definitely be coming back and telling everyone about this! read more

Awesome new wine bar! First, the location is perfect in the Rosevelt Row area. It's spacious and bright. Way bigger than most wine bars. Now to the really cool part, almost all the wine is local to Arizona! Who knew we had so many great wines made in state forty-eight?! I had the Javelina Leap Merlot and the Arizona Angel Red Blend. Both had great flavor! Now, the most exciting part, they use really creative self-serve technology! You put your payment information on file with the server and receive a wine card in exchange. Then you insert your wine card in the machine and select your wine of choice. You can purchase a tasting, half a glass, or a full glass. When you're ready to leave, you return your wine card and settle your tab. I have never seen anything like this and I loved it! read more

This place is awesome. Very laid back wine bar where you can serve yourself from their amazing magic wine machines...seriously I want one in my house. The cheese plate we ordered was excellent. They have tons of games that you can play while relaxing with your glass of wine. We even had our 7 month old daughter with us and it was a perfect environment for all of us to hang out. GenuWine is a really great idea in a really great space! Just off the Roosevelt/Central light rail stop you will find this friendly and cute wine bar. This is a self-serve wine bar so you can try a sip, a small glass or a large glass- no more getting stuck with a wine you don't like! Walk up to the self-serve stations, insert your card, and select your pour. Try one or try them all (a large feat- since they have 24 different kinds of wine served up each day). Many of the wines are local, making it a great place to get to know the wineries in Arizona. On top of wine, they have a few beers on tap and you can order a savory cheese & meat board or a dessert cheese board of your liking. This place is very cool and carries on the vibe of the other great local businesses in the Roosevelt Arts District. Roosevelt Row is the perfect location for them and they are filling out their space well. I can't wait to see what comes next for this awesome business! read more

I dont even know where to begin. We came because Caduceus Cellars was here for a free wine tasting and their food truck tagged along. We are all fans so we decided to check this place out as well. There's the reason for 2 stars. Plus, the "server" was nice. We ordered a cheese plate, which you pick out yourself, it literally came with 3 cheeses, olives, 6 crackers and peanuts. PEANUTS? I have never had a cheese board with peanuts. The "server" explained how this place worked. You give them your credit card and get a wine card to use at their self serve wine fridge that is all or portioned. Basically, you do everything yourself and are expected to tip. Gone is the taster of wine, here you pay 2 to 350 for a TASTE of wine. You pay 6 to 750 for a 3 oz pour and 9 to 14 for a 5 oz pour. Then, when you're done, you give the card back and they give you your check on an iPad that prompts for a tip. Theres more....you can buy a bottle of wine but they charge you 10 bucks to open it. What? They should add that BS charge into the price of the wine. I was with 5 other people and not one of us thought this place was worth the money we spent. Not one of us will ever go back. Fun clean space downtown where you serve your own wine from neat dispensing machines! After a little tutorial and a test purchase, it becomes fun and you don't need to get the attention of a bartender. At least for wine, beer and snacks you still have to speak to someone. GenuWine is one of my favorite local spots. They have a super cozy atmosphere and a great selection of wines on tap, many of them local. I am also a member of their monthly wine club which gets you 2 bottles of wine a month and local food product. Would highly recommend if you're a wine lover. They often do free tastings of local wines on First Friday and their happy hour has $2 off full glasses of wine which is a good deal. If you aren't a wine lover they also have a few select beers on tap. Definitely try it out! read more

On First Friday, and a lot of other days, they have free tastings from other great, local businesses. You pour your own wine and pay by the amount of the pour. Food is limited, but delicious. I stopped in with some of my friends yesterday after a wine festival downtown. Coincidentally when we showed up it happened to be the day of the grand opening. It was a smaller venue, but comfortable. When we walked in, we didn't really know what to do, but i saw the sign saying to first open a tab. So we did that and the people working there were very helpful in telling us how the system works (which is super easy). Everyone was very friendly that worked there and the whole place was very lively with music and plenty of people to talk to. I am actually not much of a wine person (they do have some good beer on tap), but the ones i did drink were pretty good...but i liked the concept more than anything. ALSO the cheese boards were pretty good, and i liked the customizable aspect of it and the fact it points out if the item is local to Arizona. Protip: get the honey and blue cheese, it was some of the best honey ever! Like I said, I am not a wine guy BUT i will more than likely come back with my friends that do like wine. Top notch personalized service. Clean, relaxing atmoshpere. Living room kind of ambiance. Self serve wine tasting "on tap". Really neat, easy to use process. Very tasty cheese/meat/cracker tray (variety to choose from). I really like all of the choices and the time Emily took to explain and cater to us. She is very knowledgeable about the wines she has personally selected to be a part of an overall awesome experience. To top it all off there is a huge picture wall window with a tranquil view (plus, it was raining making it a total package of sip and relaxation). Validated parking garage attached to building.
