I have had really good experiences coming to Dr. Lim's offices. I had not gone to a dentist for many years prior to my visit, and despite thoroughly caring for my teeth, I was in need of 3 fillings (old ones gone bad). If any one is surprised by that information, don't be, I expected it. There are so many habits that can affect your teeth, like drinking coffee, tea, soda, grinding your teeth, acid reflux, nutrient deficiency, etc. Preventative care is just one aspect for the overall health of your teeth, and thereby, a prolonged period of time without checkups is going to increase your chance for complications. Caring for your teeth isn't cheap for a lot of people, but if done so regularly it should prevent way more expensive problems from emerging. I've had Dr. Lim and Dr. Lee work on my teeth, and they were great compared to prior experiences with other practices. The staff is super polite and the facility on Vermont Avenue is nice (I like it more than the one on Sunset). If you think there may be a better alternative than the options recommended to you, talk about it and get a better understanding for what was recommended. I had a chip on my front tooth and was told the option that would be less prone to damage was a crown, but because of the cost and my having most of the tooth still, decided to get it bonded. I'm very happy with the result. I know that it has a greater chance of failure, but I'm cool with it, and I could've just not done anything. They do a great job and are straight forward. MediCal covers fillings, so I paid for the bonding and for night guards to prevent grinding my teeth, it all was around $385. If you want to complain about cost, just start oil pulling. read more

Highly recommended! I first visited the office a few months ago, waited for a referral for a root canal and wisdom teeth extraction. The process was quick. The front office is excellent with answering questions and calling back to schedule appointments. The office itself is very clean and up to date. Free Netflix (that's a huge plus). Dr. Lim is very experienced and professional. He talks to his patients and gets to know them and their concerns. He actually advice me on some healthy lifestyles. I had a root canal yesterday, followed by two wisdom teeth extractions and one filing. No pain today! The process went so smooth and I felt comfortable throughout. I finally found this office! Claudia was so genuine and caring to the fact that my mom was in pain and she immediately squeezed her in! Everyone has been so kind and accommodating. The office is clean, professional and organized. They make you feel welcomed so much so that they even gave us roses for Valentines Day! They are not trying to up sale you with procedures you do not need, they are honest and efficient. If it was possible to give negative stars, that's what my review would be. I have left less than 3 reviews in my life, as I only do so when I feel it is my civic duty to warn people against FRAUDULENT businesses. I wish I would have read the review below and I would have stayed far far away from this place. Please take the time to read this so that you can avoid the scam that this doctor will pull on you just to make some extra money. He has ZERO care for the well being of his patients and I truly hope he has his license revoked as soon as possible. I am following up with a formal complaint to the BBB and the Dental Board of California. I left the same review on his other two locations, but I visited him at Culver City. This Saturday, I noticed that my retainer was coming loose and I needed to have it rebonded right away. This takes about 5 minutes to do, but it is always difficult to find a dentist open Saturday that can squeeze you in. I called at 1pm and they had an opening for 2pm. Perfect, I thought! I came in 30 minutes earlier to fill in any paperwork so that I could be out of there as soon as the bonding was done. I was informed by the receptionist / manager? named Johanna that they would need to treat me as a new patient and bill my insurance for xrays and a teeth cleaning. I informed her that I had just visited my dentist in August and I did not need to do a teeth cleaning yet. She responded that they would be billing it anyway so I might as well do it, to which I said okay, as I was desperate to have my retainer bonded and it was too late to find another office. I waited and waited and waited. There were 4 rooms with patients and only 2 dentists. The waiting room was full as if it was urgent care on a Sunday. I wondered, why would you schedule so many people and not be able to see them until an hour later? Seems like you care more about making more $ than the time of your patients and the quality of your work. Finally, they sat me down at 3pm (1 hour after my initial time). I waited 20 minutes for someone to come and do xrays (which by the way I did not need). Dr. Lim came over at around 4pm (2 hours after I arrived) to ask why I was there. I explained it again and he quickly bonded my retainer to my tooth (at the cost of $200 out of pocket). He reviewed my xrays and told me that I needed 3 CROWNS and 1 FILLING. This was a HUGE shock. How could this be? I just visited my dentist 3 months ago and everything was in great shape. How could I have 4 new cavities in 3 months? I was nearly in tears and overly frustrated for being there now almost 3 hours. Then began the "teeth cleaning." The other dentist came in and asked why I was there. I wondered why they would switch dentists in and out like that? It seemed extremely chaotic and everyone seemed confused, including the assistants. Dr. Lim came back and scraped around for about 5 minutes and said 'great, we're done!'. This was the most PITIFUL and the fastest teeth cleaning I have every had. I walked to the front and I thought, why do I have food in my teeth from lunch? No flurouide, no polishing, no flossing? That doesn't seem right. Finally I complained and they put me back in the chair and had some new dental assistant finish the cleaning. She polished my teeth so hard that my gums went raw and were bleeding. I was deeply upset and she said 'it's going to hurt a lot because i am polishing'. Are you supposed to polish gums or teeth? Apparently they really do not know. Finally, I couldn't wait to get out of there at 5:45pm. (Over 3 hours after I arrived!!!). There were still patients there who were waiting when I got there. I felt terrible for them too. The following Monday I called to find out which teeth had the 4 cavities. The receptionist informed me that I did not have 4 cavities, I actually had 7 cavities. How could it be that I suddenly have 7 but when I was there in person I only had 4? Seemed a little off to me, especially since I had just seen the doctor in August and my teeth were perfect. 7 cavities in 3 months? Is that even possible? I had the xrays transferred to my dentist and to another dentist I had visited while I lived in NY. Both dentists that I trusted. I didn't want to go get 3 crowns done and 4 fillings without a second opinion. What did they say? I HAVE ZERO CAVITIES, I do NOT need any crowns or any fillings and if there is any work to do it may need to happen in 5 years, but not now. These are the opinions of two independent dentists that review the same xrays that Dr Lim took. HE IS A SCAM ARTIST and I feel bad for all the people who will spend money they dont need to spend and have painful work done that they do not need. His treatment plan would have costed me over $5,000. I am grateful that I thought enough to think twice and get other opinions from doctors who are not trying to swindle anyone for a penny. I hope that anyone who reads this will seriously think twice before going here. It is 100% a scam. read more

I am a Medi-Cal/Denti-Cal patient who's regular dentist retired years ago and due to health issues and then Covid I put off finding someone new until the pain from a broken tooth brought me to my knees! I thoroughly researched all 144 providers in my area, and ended up with just two I felt comfortable with. I called Dr Lim's office first and Cynthia lmk that the only available appt was 2 weeks away, which I took, and she said she'd call if any cancellations came for something sooner. Not even an hour passed when the phone rang and it was Cynthia offering me an appointment for the next morning! The office is clean, the waiting room allows for social distancing, Yvonne helped me with my paperwork, Luddy a total gem, did my x-rays and was careful to make sure my thyroid was properly covered before each take (I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and radiation is an issue) then Dr Shanna came in and with her smiling eyes and warm demeanor put this Nervous Nellie right at ease! The exam revealed what I knew it would, much work is needed to make my mouth healthy and whole, but Claudia worked up a treatment/payment plan, and the two root canals, a crown replacement for a root canal done 30 yrs ago, as well as an extraction for a root canal done in 2019 that never got a crown because covid hit and now needs a bone graft and implant, should all be completed in the next few months (due to finances we're doing one procedure at a time)! So far, I couldn't be more pleased! read more

Sunday morning my 3 year old boy broke his tooth and he was in a pain. I had to find a dentist to see him immediately since I was not sure how serous it is. Dr Lim was not only willing to,see him on Sunday, but also his assistant came and opened the office just to see my son. He tried to save the too the but it was not possible, and he made a very quick and easy extraction of the tooth. I LOVE THIS OFFICE! I have been a patient here for about 3 years now. I USED to DREAD going to the dentist office, they would always "find" costly "work" that needed to be done immediately. NOT Dr. Lim's office. I am originally from the midwest. I was raised around a whole different style or culture-if you will. As you can imagine, Los Angeles is pretty much everything BUT what I grew up with. The moment I stepped into this office I was warped into that "small town vibe". Every person behind the desk greeted me with warm smiles & the atmosphere was really comforting & calm. They called me back & all of the staff I passed greeted me with smiles. Not creepy smiles, but sincere smiles. You can definitely tell these people LOVE what they do & CARE about their people. 6 months later, I went in for the 2nd time. I was early for my appointment. As SOON as I walked in the door, they greeted me with a warm welcome. They remembered my name before I even signed in! They remembered my boyfriend who also previously went there. They made a conversation with me like we'd been friends forever! It was soooo amazing! They all make me feel so valued for choosing them. I had x-rays taken & saw that my wisdom teeth were growing horizontally towards my other teeth. I asked Dr. Lim if he thought I should have them removed. He was completely honest & said, generally he only recommends having them removed if they're causing pain, because there's no way to know how much they'll keep moving. He could've EASILY said ABSOLUTELY if money was what he was concerned about. I opted to have them removed due to fear of making the rest of my teeth crooked. 3 of them were under the bone, so Dr. Lim did the surgery himself. I happened to come down with a horrible virus the week before my surgery. I almost rescheduled the surgery but chose not to because I specifically took a week off of work to recover. I was feeling awful the day of surgery. I had all 4 removed at the same time. Halfway through I almost told him to stop & I'd come back because I felt so sick. He said we're almost done & removed the last 2 it felt like instantly! He was so gentle! He made me feel comfortable considering my situation. Because of my virus I was bedridden for a few days. He called to check up on me! My boyfriend had called him a couple times to get different pain killers because I didn't react well to two of them. Dr. Lim checked on me probably 3 days that week. I had to go back in to get a special mouthwash for the infection. I just couldn't believe how easy they were to get a hold of 24 hours, and how pleasant they were ALL THE TIME! He made jokes when he saw me because he didn't expect me to swell too bad, but my face almost DOUBLED in size! I was all bruised. He made me laugh. He calls us on our birthdays. I actually look forward to my appointments to share whatever's been going on in my life with him & his team. He's all about doing the right thing and not only taking care of his patient's, but his staff. I could go on and on about this office. I wouldn't trust anyone else to my teeth if this office is an option! read more

This is only for the front office: My daughter & I were originally scheduled for July 10 but my appointment was cancelled last minute due to a staff meeting. I called today at 10am to cancel our 12pm appointment because my daughter injured herself over the weekend. I first spoke with Yvonne then Claudia who informed me that they would be charging me $35 for the last minute cancellation. I reminded them that they were the ones who originally cancelled on me last minute. Claudia said she would waive the $35 this time since I received a verbal warning over the phone. I told her that I wouldn't be rescheduling anymore because I would be going to another dentist: Her response? "Ok." I've been a loyal customer since 2010 & this is the way I'm treated: Absolutely no empathy for the fact that my daughter was injured. They're customer service has been dwindling over the last 2 years, but this is the last straw: If you don't care about my daughter, you don't deserve my business. I'm taking my business elsewhere not because of Dr. Lim but because of the horrible customer service of the front office staff, specifically Claudia-She's not family friendly at all. read more

I came to this office for a routine check up and cleaning.I had told Claudia v. new office manager that I would like a good cleaning not a few seconds cleaning. Female doctor did my cleaning and she did the cleaning with the cavitron tip and less than two minutes she was already done cleaning my entire mouth and all my teeth. Wow ,wow .she than told assistant "polish and floss"I was shocked .I told assistant to called Claudia v manager. She came to room and I told her that I did not like the less than two minutes cleaning the female doctor had just performed on me .but than she wanted to argue with me telling that that was a regular prophylaxis and also making feel I did know what I was saying. Amazing how some dentist just care for making money and charging dental insurances lots of money for the poor quality of dental work they provide to the patients. I feel this female doctor don't know the meaning of quality .anyways,after assistant polish my teeth and flossed my teeth .female doctor came back to do some more cleaning with a scaler on other two minutes .hygienists take about 45 minutes but why some doctors take 4 minutes. I went in for wisdom tooth extraction. More specifically I went in for one wisdom tooth extraction which I thought was totally normal. However, as soon as I informed my dental hygienist that I only want one tooth removed, he spoke to the main doctor Lim about it, and the doc came in. He stormed in and refused to take out just one tooth saying "take all of your wisdom tooth out or none at all." Last time I checked it is my own mouth and my money and I am sure it is unlawful to make a patient go through unwanted oral surgery. Mind you I wasn't in dire near if the extractions either. No infections no problem at all. Then I asked him in a calm manner how the procedure would be done and he bluntly told me "that's my business let me figure that out." What in the world is wrong with him. Every single doctor in this world that I have visited informs you about what is going to happen before they conduct any sort of test or give you even a simple injection. I am highly dissapointed by his behavior. I proceeded to leave and am looking for a dentist elwsewhere.
