I ordered stone crabs for both Christmas Eve and New Years Eve on November 28th. My credit card was processed and charged for both orders. The order for Christmas Eve was scheduled with Fed Ex to be delivered on the 24rd and then never shipped. Fed Ex was showing the shipment was never picked up. I called numerous times on the 23rd and sent two emails with no response. I finally spoke with someone on the 28th. They apologized for the mix up, "we were very busy". Said he would issue a credit for the order and ship my New Years Eve order, priority, to arrive on the 29th. The credit for the first shipment was never issued and again the crab did not ship for arrival on the 29th. Numerous calls and emails with no response. I had to make a complaint through AMEX to get reimbursed for these orders. BE CAREFUL. I have been a customer for 3 years and will not ever order from them again. They won't even call me back. Can you imagine how mad you would be expecting your stone crabs on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve and then they don't show! Not acceptable. read more

Ugh, this company has 'deals' on flash sites like Groupon and Giltcity. The deal sounds fine at first blush... $30 for $60 worth of site credit. But they hide/gloss over the fact that there is a minimum pound weight to use the credit. So while you may be saving $30, you have to buy $140 worth of claws. If you try to contact them, you'll have to leave several messages before they bother to call you back. And when you talk to them on the phone you get a pretty good idea that this is a scam. Not to mention that their prices are higher than most. How are the crabs? I don't know... I might just not bother ordering rather than spend any more money at this lame excuse for a company. read more

Where do I start. I should have read the Yelp review before purchasing stone crab from George's in Miami. I understand why it got 2.5 stars vs. the 4 stars bestowed on Joe's Stone Crab. George Stone Crab got 3 one star ratings just this year. Two words, customer service. The first shipment arrived in a box with the crab on top of the ice instead of packaged together. This was after the order sat on the FedEx truck. The crab was small with no mallet to crack it. After leaving several messages, I finally connected with Wes and I believe the CEO. They agreed to reship the order due to all the issues. Either the CEO or Wes said I could reorder and get the equivalent in large or jumbo crab. Of course everyone had amnesia when I finally placed the order. I believe Wes was the one that said it is like buying a 42" TV and returning it for a 50". I think not. I asked for the equivalent of what I purchased. Similar to the 42 inch TV, I should have been able to apply the credit towards what I wanted which wasn't a small crab that I would have to fight to get the meat. I was assured that there was a new shipping process that would pack the crab with the ice so that the crab wouldn't be separated from the ice pack during shipment. Again, of course this didn't happen. I'm wondering who packed the crab since I was on the phone with Wes until at least 10:00 pm EDT and I received the order the next day. I received the order the same as the first order except there was a mallet included. I will never do business with George's Stone Crab. Someone in the office told me that George's supplies Joe's Stone Crab. That may be; however, Joe's needs to supply George's with the Customer Service they are so desperately lacking. read more

Worth the price for the ease of ordering and getting delivered to my door in Massachusetts! Nice and fresh, packaged well, delivered right on schedule. The only problem I had was I ordered a key lime pie that was never delivered. (No, I didn't bother telling them. No use sending just a pie. Plus the pie was meant as dessert after the great meal. Ordered 6lbs of large claws (3.1oz - 5oz ea) which cost $352. I received 3lbs of large with only one claw weighing over 4oz and 3lbs of very small medium claws. Called Georges and they said they would refund the $63.00 for the differance which they did. We tasted them that day and I could tell they had a slight fishy smell to them. I put the claws in the fridge uncovered as desribed and the next morning when I opened the fridge the rank spoiled crab smell was obvious. Called Georges and talked to the same guy, said he would talk to his manager. I had to throw out 18 claws ten day ago and I haven't heard anything back. I will go back to ordering from Joes and pay the extra cost. You get what you pay for and I see the Georges claws are on closeout. Not going to happen. read more

Terrible service. After receiving emails daily, my wife and I decided to order 4lbs of Jumbo Claws for Christmas Eve. Admittedly, it was 12/22, however I had received another email soliciting an order and everything ships overnight express. Fast forward to mid-afternoon 12/23 and I get a call that they ran out and didn't ship my order the night before...remember, with overnight shipping, I should have received the order on 12/23. To make it worse, the gentleman blames me saying I ordered it on 12/22, what did I expect implying that it's my fault. I ordered stone crab for the super bowl, which ( this is not George's fault ) ups delivered them to the wrong house, after my son found them we opened the box and they smelled so bad I took them to a dumpster ( because I didn't want them in my garage ) and tossed them out. Be careful! This company does not clearly disclose the terms of their "deals" on Groupon. They require you to buy a minimum amount of crab at exorbitant prices then shipping to California was another $95 dollars. Just wasted $60 on Groupon because I refuse to spend money with this company. Given the other comments on Yelp (check out the ones "not recommended" by Yelp As well) this is a common problem. Shocked at the low amount of stars, as I have used this service many times, including the Groupon, and have had nothing but good experiences. The Groupon was $30 for $50 toward 3 lbs. of fresh stone crab dinner for two people. "Towards" is the key word, as I've seen this before on Groupon - like $50 towards your dinner at a restaurant. It doesn't mean your dinner is going to come to $50. So, no, you cannot buy exactly $50 worth of stone crab. The typical minimum order to be delivered in Miami is a four person meal, but if you have the Groupon, you can get the two-person meal. The two person meal was about $95 for medium claws, so I paid $45 after the Groupon credit. Add that to the amount I paid for the Groupon ($30) and I got 3 pounds of pre-cracked claws for $75, which is pretty good. I've also had good experience with their customer service, I had an issue with one order and they resolved the issue within an hour of delivery. read more

I chose to forfeit the cost of my Groupon as I refused to deal with a company that fraudulently misleads consumers.
