Wow! What a hidden gem. We drive past and see George's sign on Highway 88. For my birthday this weekend, my husband said let's go and try it. It was Sunday around 2:10 pm. Large parking lot as they are located in a shopping center. Their current hours are daily from 5:30 am to 2:30 pm. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. We were greeted by George and his wonderful smile! He has had his restaurant for over 50 years now. What a great guy. He was so nice and friendly and assured us to not worry that they closed at 2:30 pm we could stay as long as needed. I ordered a patty melt and steak fries. And of course coffee! lol My husband ordered the fried shrimp and mashed potatoes/gravy. This comes with steamed veggies. We ordered a side of garlic bread and the beef soup. And of course...hot chocolate with whipped cream. Service came quick! There were only a couple of tables since it was close to closing, and a regular came in so it was nice to see someone treated special. My patty melt was delicious and I love the creamy steak fries. The sandwich comes on rye bread with cheese, classic! My husband enjoyed the shrimp and the mashed potatoes and gravy had a great flavor. He loved how the veggies had been warmed up on the flat top, delicious! If you are there and the beef soup is on the meni, GET IT! Wow, we should have ordered one to go. Now let's talk service..... Thank you Marisa! I can't tell who had a bigger smile, Marisa or George. She was amazing, professional, friendly, helpful, just a delight! All together the bill came to $49. Very reasonable for how you are treated, quantity of food and flavor. Also they have clean restrooms. We live just outside of Lockeford and we love this place! It's our favorite breakfast place for sure ...and it's often the requested destination by our adult son with special needs. In fact, our last visit was last Thursday, his 34th birthday and George's was the only place we would go! BTW - every time we go, we have the great fortune of being cared for by Alejandra and she is ALWAYS EXCELLENT! Like every other time, Alejandra greeted us immediately after we arrived. She seated us and cared for us from start to finish like we are family. Great personality, very attentive, professional, sweet and engaging. When in Lockeford! Great place to stop in for a bite to eat. We were in town buying sausage and decided to stop here. Glad we did, the waitress was super friendly and recommended the special -chili verde omelette. I got that and my hubby got the chicken fried steak, the waitress said he could add gravy to the biscuit that comes with it, it was only like 1.50 extra. The food was excellent! The chili verde was on point, with plenty of pork and no fatty pieces. We even got to meet George himself! He was running some of the front, nice to see an owner involved in his restaurant. We will be back, I'd like to try the lunch menu! By the way...best diet coke!!! read more

I must say after reading all these reviews, I am quite surprised about a lot of these negative comments. I go there almost every morning, and after two years of eating breakfast here, I haven't been disappointed. They have great staff, who are always very friendly. They always greet, and serve us with a smile. Alejandra always make us feel like we are dinning at home. Even George, the owner, comes out serving us with amazing customer services, and a smile. My family, and I love this place. Even my son Alex gets up every morning at 6 a.m to have breakfast with us. That's how pleased we are. Thank you George, and staff! read more

I'm doing another review on this place because we literally eat here once a week. Last week I had fish and chips and they were pretty good. This week I had chicken gyro and it was pretty good. This place makes it worth coming to because the ppl who work here are very nice and accommodating and they know what we like and just make it worth coming to. I was sorely disappointed by the new owners vision of this classic diner. It was turned from a cute family country diner to a smaller updated,zero country decor stale restaurant. While the staff still were great, the food was not. Hash browns were mushy inside, eggs were overdone. The counter dining was in the back of the diner which is very inconvenient for the old timers. Reminded me of a cafeteria. Also, the original location is going to be a store(?). I hope they have lots of funds cause I don't believe the regulars are gonna be back. Sad, cause I loved the previous owners. No way should the new owners have been able to keep the name cause it doesn't reflect them. Will NEVER go back. read more

First time trying this place out and food had no flavor. I ordered the western burger and it wasn't good at all, also had a weird smell to it. Was only able to take 2 bites which the waiter figured I didn't like it and asked me if I wanted anything else and judging off the initial taste, I declined. She took my plate and still charged for the both my order and my partners order. My partner also ordered the fish and chips and barely ate it because it not having any flavor I will not be returning or recommending this establishment to anyone looking for any good service or food. We went there for a birthday celebration. All 12 of us. Everyone ordered differently. ALL the food was 4 star and tasted wonderful. The waitress (Helen) was top notch and made sure everything was wonderful and had its own flavor. From liver and onions to prawns with clam chowder. George came out and celebrated with us a bit. Very very disappointing. Easily the most expensive breakfast in the area. My ribeye and eggs was a rip off at 25.00$. Maybe a 6 Oz piece of meat. The eggs were cold. My wife's breakfast was cold and the hash browns were soggy. The restrooms were pretty disgusting also. Doesn't appear that anyone cares. For the price you can eat in a nice hotel or upscale restaurant. read more
