My dad and I stopped by Wimpy's for a late lunch on a Wednesday. It had been years since my dad had been there, and I had never been there before. There was only one other table of patrons dining when we arrived, and they already had their food. Our server was kind, but not very attentive. It took a tremendous amount of time to get a menu, place our order, and eventually get our food. With all of that being said, we enjoyed the view and each other's company. I decided to try their Delta dip sandwich, which was essentially a French dip sandwich with au jou. My dad ordered a sandwich as well. We both ordered tater tots as our sides and I will say, the tater tots were crispy, golden perfection, and the portion size was massive. All in all, this is a decent spot to grab a bite to eat if you find yourself in the area. read more

My cousin and I stopped nearby to see her mom who was visiting a friend in town. The friend recommended Wimpy's and told us that it was on the water. When you drive up the bar looks like a shack near the water, what you find when you actually arrive is a gem. We entered through the door and were greeted by the host with some menus. As we were walking up, we had noticed a sanded beach area much like a Jimmy Buffet song. We proceeded to order our food; I ordered the chicken tacos, she the steak tacos and we split the loaded cheese fries. Her mom- ordered a chicken caesar salad. After we ordered our food we went outside to post op on the beachy vibed area along the water. As we walked down we discovered there was an outside bar to which we can order drinks, Drinks were ordered- the outside bar is cash only. Our food came father quickly; the tacos were the perfect size- three in each order. The loaded fries were super cheesy and perfect for sharing. The other people in our party had ordered their food shortly after we did- and were just getting it when we had completed our meal. Overall the food was good, the service is very laid back. While enjoying the outside area; we also had a conversation with the owner. He and his wife came into ownership not too long ago- they have set the outside area up for concerts. They are hoping to get some bands in there and keep the vibe going. Jerry and Nancy were their names; they imported the sand from Monterey and also brought in some tropical plants from their own home to dress the beachy vibes of the outdoor area. First time here after remodel and all new staff. I had the prime rib ordered rare and cooked to perfection. Comes with soup or salad and mashed potatoes. We asked if we could substitute fries for mashed. No problem but served with both no extra charge. Had a cup of au just and some great horse radish. Heather the manager was so friendly and helpful as well as our servers. Great new crew. We had a bottle of Bogle cab and took the rest left from dinner down on outside deck. We stopped by on a Monday afternoon so the restaurant wasn't busy. Service was friendly and personal. Food was good - a garden salad which was fresh, fish and chips, and a BLT with avocado and tater tots. Tater tots were ordered extra crispy and were perfect. The batter on the fish strips could have had more seasoning but overall the food was fresh and cooked well. Sunday brunch $22. It is buffet style. Prime rib, gumbo, salmon, salmon croquettes, mashed potatoes and gravy. They also have all the other breakfast items. My favorite is the mashed potatoes and gravy holy hell I wanted to take some home. $10 bottomless mimosas too! The eggs Benedict, scrambled eggs, and bacon were also pretty damn good. Went with my family for their special "holiday buffet" they had biscuits and gravy, but didn't refill the biscuits. The food was ok, had paid more than it was worth. Was not offered a beverage, when asked neglected to say that it was $4 for a soda. My soda was taken when I was halfway through and not returned. No beverages were refilled. The dessert table was flavored with fly shit, because the flies all over it. The salmon was sitting out for the flies to land all over not being kept cold. The dairy products were not on ice. They had the ability to get a baby seat, but there were no changing tables for the baby and there was no place to change unless I did it on the table. I arrived here by boat. Love that! I think this place is still getting together after reopening. When we went it was CASH ONLY as they were still working in setting up their card system. The bartender Mary is a super sweet heavy-pourer and we sadly weren't able to tip her as we barely pooled the cash to make the bill (we were told it was cash only after our drinks were ready). Came with my family for the buffet way over priced for the food served. The staff took forever to clear plates. Then chaging for drinks after paying $38 dollars a person drink should be included. Don't bring a baby no place to change them. The view is nice but that's all this place has going for it is the delta. I will not come back. On Wednesday September 5th, 2019 my wife Patty and I had an outstanding dinner at Wimpy's Marina Cafe. They were offering a bottomless Pasta and Salad special serviced family style. Everything was cooked to perfection, and I must confess, I ate far to much :) We knew Wimpy's was under new ownership but I personally didn't know the new owner was a Chef. In fact the owner/chef personally delivered two of the plates in the picture with three plates. We learned from the owner/chef they discontinued the use of seven freezers, and no longer receive tons of deliveries from Sysco. She also said that everything is now fresh, and locally sourced whenever possible. The owner said they fresh cut all of their potatoes in house, to include the fries. Partnering with local growers and farmers, farm to fork, is is simply outstanding. Plus our food was prepared after we ordered. They served us an outstanding salad with in house dressing, Fettuccine Alfredo, Spaghetti, and Garlic Texas Toast as shown in the first picture. The second picture shows our "refill" with the same dishes in picture one and Penne Pasta with a creamy cheese sauce. I would like to add all the sauces were fresh and made in house. If you haven't had the chance to check out the new specials, you are in for an outstanding experience. Moreover our meals were about $15 per person. We worth checking out !! read more

Friend and I came here Thursday at lunch time. We were greeted and served immediately. Server was very nice. Met Bert the cook. Man can he cook! He talked to us for a while and gave us a sample of the chili. The chili was meaty, thick and had just the right amount of spice. It was so good. We also tasted the bread pudding. I am not a fan of bread pudding but, I loved this one. So creamy and tasty. My friend got an order to go. I had fish & chips which were cooked to the right crispness. 1-20-2019 Van and Myself decided to try out this breakfast buffet. We were in the area visiting a friend. Our friend recommended this place to us. Upon arrival, we were seated and given a mimosa cocktail each. We sat there and overlooked the sacramento river scenery. This buffet is a perfect spot for this beautiful morning. We browsed through the line at many choices of breakfast food items as well as the prime rib carving station. The prime rib was cooked to perfection, along with other items on our plates. This is a cool place to see a band or just hang out next to the river with a beer or cocktail. It is a casual restaurant/bar with seating inside or out but the band was playing outside. The service was friendly and the food was good. We would go again for the right band. read more

Unfortunately I can't say positive things about my latest visit to Wimpys restaurant. We'll, we did get a nice table overlooking the river, but half the tables there have the same view lol. My wife and mother in law stopped in for an early dinner a few days ago. It was strange cuz we kept ordering and our waitress kept coming back and telling us they were out of this and that. The funny thing is, they only have a half dozen entrees on there menu and they were out of three of them. And it was 4-5 in the afternoon ! Our waitress was friendly enough(barely), and I'm sorry to say that the only good thing about our Wimpys experience was the Bartender "Val". She was so professional and made us some great drinks and kept smiles on our faces. I hope they pay her what she's worth cuz she deserves it. Such a fun place on the river and wondering why I've never checked it out before! Some friends invited us to come out, hang out on their boat and to listen to live music. The venue has a fun beachy vibe with sand floors. Many levels of decks, tables and areas to listen to music, grab your favorite cocktail or indulge in some traditional bar food. This review is for fried chicken special only. Don't order fried chiken special here! It was the worse! But, they have the best burger though! And the price was superb. We went on two several occasions to try the fried chicken, the first try we told the staff nicely, that it could use some perks up or seasoning sort of. It was fairly acknowledged. So, on our second try month after, as the chicken was served, and took my first bite, i knew it wasn't right. I didn't eat further and ate the salad instead. This time, i preferred not to tell them. We came here for ManCave Monday, which is their featured Ribeye, salad, Texas toast and mashed potatoes and gravy for just under $12. The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned, the salad fresh and crunchy, and the potatoes were jomemade, a bit lumpy (which is actually how I like them) and the gravy was good. I highly recommend it. Due to someone who is attempting to push the restaurant proprietor. Dawn, out of her lease, I'm not sure how long they will be here. Wow, what a hidden gem. The picture they have listed first on Yelp.....doesn't look appetizing, which is funny because all their food is delicious. We wanted to go on a ride and gran some lunch, due to Covid of course most places are closed, but Wimpy's has "take-out" with public seating outside. I say "take out" because the waitress even serviced us outside in the public area, she was awesome. I ordered the half pound western, one buddy ordered the Wimpy's club, and my other buddy ordered the patty melt. Everything was perfect, add that to the overall motif, of pirates with authentic pirate ship, this place is a MUST VISIT! They do have full service bar, stage for entertaining during the summer, multiple boat docks, six page menu of treats, general store and boat filling station, it's an all included stop for either boating or biking in the delta. I've driven/boated by this place many times over my life time but have never been there. Everytime I go by I think or say out loud, "We need to go there," but then I forget. So when my father requested we have brunch for fathers day on the water, I knew just the place to go! When you walk in don't expect some fancy dining experience, its on the water so its nothing fancy. However its is clean and organized. The service was excellent, never had to worry about my coffee or water running out. Our server was very nice, knowledgeable and attentive. The staff all walk around and check on all the tables. Also we had a table right by the window so we had a great view of the river. Food arrived in a reasonable amount of time and it was delicious! I ordered the Shrimp omelet which was the special for Fathers day, minus the hollandaise sauce (I personally don't like hollandaise). I don't recall what everyone else specifically ordered but there were definitely no complaints about food and we all left with full bellies. Also the price was VERY reasonable. With all 5 of us eating and having coffee, mimosas and bloodmary's our bill was only $80. I definitely plan on coming back now that I've finally made it here and enjoyed the food and service. I also would love to come back and enjoy the outdoor bar as well as the delicious sounding appetizers! =) read more

Sorry but we were greatly disappointed with the food. The atmosphere was great (views of the delta) but the service was marginal considering they only had one server working during lunch. Took 45 min to get a simple hamburger and fries. Some customers sitting nearby said this was the worse food they have had at Wimpy's in the past 20 years! (regular customers) The fries tasted like fish (most likely fried in the same batter as my wife's fish and chips). Hamburger was over cooked and dry and tasted some kind of spice That I was not accustomed too. The server said they were under new management, most Likely they changed cooks. This was not the servers fault but management and she did comp me a beer due to the quality of the food. read more
