Ladies, leave your pretty hats at home because this bar doesn't want you in their place wearing one without any explanation as to why! I've had many cocktails in bars in Sacramento so when my friends wanted to check this place I thought why not? They have their own cocktail menu with like 5 drinks, and they didn't sound all that great. The drink I had was watered down, barely had any alcohol in it and was disappointed. Boyfriend said his drink was watered down too. As far as the vibe, it feels dark and loomy inside. I was expecting more of a experience. We visited 20 North tonight for drinks after dinner. We had a party of 8, but only 7 were drinking. We ordered 7 shots to start and 8 waters. We stayed another hour and ordered another round of drinks. After closing out, we realized that we were charged for 8 shots not 7. We tried to tell the bartender but he was insistent we ordered 8. Then we proceeded to bring the shot glasses as we still had all our glasses at our table but the bartender still fought with us that he gave us 8. Bummer that a bar we used to really enjoy felt the need to cheat us out of a drink, even after we showed proof. Sometimes it's just the little things that show the true character of a place/people. 20 North is not a place we would recommend to friends or visit again. read more

If you're looking for your typical bar experience this is not the place, that's next door. However, if you're looking for good, stiff drinks made with top shelf alcohol and perhaps freshly squeezed juice if your drink calls for it, then by all means hit this place up. Drinks aren't cheap and you'll definitely pay a premium but you do get what you pay for. Originally opened as a whiskey lounge, it has since expanded its selection to offer the most pickiest craft cocktail connoisseur a wide variety to choose from. I can honestly say I haven't had a bad drink here. The bartenders have always provided me with exceptional service and i've never had to wait long for a drink. In the event that I may have to in the near future, at least i'll know they're taking their time concocting a delectable drink sure to please my palate. This place does have a dress code so keep that in mind if you plan on stopping by. It's nothing outlandish but I do think they aim to cater to a certain clientele. One thing I don't like about this place is the shared bathroom with no mirror or seat covers. A girls got to touch up her lip gloss and doesn't want to tinkle where nasty boys have sprinkled. ;) Stay classy! read more

One of the bartenders charged my friends for 8 shots when they had only ordered 7 and received 7. Bro was not admitting his mistake either saying he poured eight drinks. Not sure why there are all the negative reviews, we came here on a busy Saturday night and had a fairly positive experience. Atmosphere: This place is very nice and sophisticated. It is much quieter as well than its sister bar next door. Quite the opposite of its sister bar actually. I appreciated that it was clean, well decorated and the thought put into displaying the alcohol pays off. It is very pleasing to the eye. As for the dress code that some have complained about you have to remember that this is not the bar next door, this is a more upscale craft cocktail place so hats and flip flops are not usually appropriate. Service: The service was as attentive as possible. When we first arrived it wasn't very busy and two bartenders were sufficient. However, once it picked up service did slow down but to no fault of the bartenders because they were working their butts off. Also, this is a bar, not a restaurant so you have to go to the bar to order drinks. I mention this because several reviews complain about this. Granted there are some bars that have servers that go to the tables but this is not one of those places. My suggestions to management are #1 make sure there are more bartenders on a busy weekend or at the least have a bar back to support the bartenders with little tasks that make their job go more smoothly. If the bartenders jobs go more smoothly you sell more drinks and customers are happier which both equal more $$$ for the owners and bartenders. #2 Make sure your new bartender(s) are sufficiently trained before throwing them into the lions den of a busy weekend night. Drinks: LOVE LOVE LOVE the drinks! I have been waiting for Lodi to get a bar like this for awhile now. The drinks are well thought out craft cocktails. The ingredients are freshly made in house and there are no mass produced overly sweet or fake mixers. Every cocktail is made to order so I can make sure I get exactly what I want. For me all of this is a bonus and makes me want to start spending my money in Downtown Lodi rather than heading to Downtown/Midtown Sacramento for quality drinks. Overall my husband and I had a great experience. The cocktails are good and the price is reasonable. This is a place we can enjoy a nice night out on the town. We plan on coming back. read more

(09/30/16) First time here and it was a good experience. Greeted as soon as we walked in and was handed drink menus. I went with a whiskey sour using Bulleit Bourbon since they make their own sour mix, and it was quite good. Next time I'll ask for less ice tho Bc I felt I barely had much drink. The ambiance is nice and the 2 bartenders there were cool. I do wish they had better beer selection like more local breweries (21st Amendment, Drake's, High Water, etc.). A bit small, but for my first "bar" experience at home, I enjoyed it very much. Clean, modern, had a nice ambience. Apparently it's new, & owned by the same people who own Ollie's right next door (I think you can bring your drinks back & forth?). Andy was our bartender, who I just had to tell what type of drinks I like (vodka, sweet, whatever, etc) & he made me a pretty little mason jar concoction with muddled mint and fruit. Lots of negative reviews regarding bad service but on our visit we had none of those problems. Anyway this review is based on the excellent cocktails and great service from Steven. We spend a weekend or 2 at our condo in SF every month. My hobby is following the ever changing cocktail scene in the city. I can go into any bar and order a classic daiquiri or a Negroni and get a proper one. Sadly this is not the case in the valley (Sac is the exception, some great bars there). Anyway I ordered a classic daiquiri in 20 North and ... Got One! Wow, so I figured I'd throw the bartender a loop and ordered a Kingston Negroni. (just a Negroni with rum instead of gin) Well what a surprise when he asked which rum! I realized that this was not a typical valley bartender but someone who knows the classics. Also had a Mai Tai that wasnt red or blue or any of the other wierd colors I've seen but the proper brown amber! 20 North in Lodi can make a correct cocktail. Nice that it is right next to the place that has a cocktail list of all kinds of wierd Red Bull concoctions and flavored vodka drinks. Waited 15 minutes sitting at the East end of the bar without being asked for service. Had to walk up to the main bar to even be noticed and addressed. The service has much to be desired and they really need bartenders with some personality as this is supposed to be an upscale bar. If we are to pay for premium drinks in Lodi we do expect at least reasonable service. The service at Ollie's next door is better and cheaper. That's not how it should be. They got better as the night went on and I opened a tab but it shouldn't have to have been that way there were 4 of us and 3 others that stopped by that I was paying for. So I've waited to review this place to give it a fair shake. Parking is ample except for Fri-Sun after 5:30 pm. You get here and you wait in line cuz they card EVERYONE. Even grandma and grandpa. Then the guy asks about 4 questions to each youngin' to test them to make sure that their ID is their own. I get it, they're cautious . You get in and 2 bartenders basically ignore you and make no eye contact with you AT ALL. So, we wait and wait for someone to acknowledge our presence to spend 10-15.00 on each drink and one the one guy finally looks up at us and just about as we're saying hi, can we.. he says "I got two people ahead of you". Seriously? We didn't even think he knew we existed, and we know for a fact that the blonde came in after us. If there were more places in Lodi to grab a drink, I'm pretty sure this bar would be empty . These workers or owners really need to learn customer service and value. Too busy? Swamped cuz you only have two bartenders? Not our problem that you don't know how to staff . At least look up, smile, and say I'll be with you as soon as you can. Two male bartenders and two male bouncers were absolutely ridiculous when it came to the hat my sister was wearing. It was AFTER my sister purchased three drinks she was told that she had to finish her drink outside because of her hat. I understand their policy against beanies and trucker hats, however my sister was wearing a very sharp Goorin Bros hat that clearly was a fashion statement. The bartender told us that she could finish her drink before leaving, but halfway through two bouncers came in to harass us about the hat. They then decided that my sister was not able to finish her drink and they harrassed us until we left. Let me remind you, this is not Manhattan, Miami or LA, your little bar is in Lodi, CA. We were coming in to this establishment for the first time and would have spent a good amount of money for the evening. This treatment was nothing short of embarrassing and we will never return. So we proceed to find a little table and sat there for five minutes when nobody came to greet us, give us a menu or ask us what we wanted to drink. We came here a few weeks ago on a Thursday night and had the worse bartender ever. It was a slow night in the bar, there were about 16 people in the entire place. The bartender was beyond drunk. He couldn't even make our drinks correct and was becoming obnoxious. He took forever making our drinks first of all, then he would forget to give us our drinks when he was done. The entire experience was unacceptable. I'm writing this because if I owned this place I would like to know what's going on in my business. We came in all smiles and ask what the drink specials were and the bartender looked at us like it was the stupidest question he ever heard and said "that's too broad of a question." When we asked for a recommendation he simply handed us a little menu and said "any of these" then walked away. Great people skills dude. These guys need training on how to talk to customers even if they have to fake it. We tried to engage him in conversation and neither he nor the other guy were having any of it.
