I cannot stop talking about my dinner at The Exchange. The food, atmosphere, décor, and overall vibe were exceptional. It was our first time visiting from the Bay Area, and it was truly a memorable experience. We ordered the chicken wings and calamari, plus two drinks. Our bartender recommended the Freak Show Cabernet, and it was delicious. I appreciated how attentive the team was: when I accidentally knocked over my drink, the staff quickly and graciously helped clean up, along with a few flowers I bumped in the process. I apologize for the clumsiness on my part. The chef also came out to greet us, which was a wonderful personal touch. Overall, we had an incredible time. We had Easter brunch at The Exchange 1874 in Woodbridge and came away with a very positive overall experience. The restaurant is set in a historic brick building with a lot of character. We sat inside, where the space features exposed brick, artwork throughout, and very comfortable seating... my partner specifically pointed that out. The layout includes a mix of seating areas, which gives it a more relaxed, layered feel. The bar area, known as the Ghost Lounge, adds a darker, more lounge-like element to the overall atmosphere. Service was excellent. Our server, Lacy, was friendly, attentive, and witty - easily one of the best servers we've had in a while. For drinks, I had a local Oak Farm red wine that was excellent. Others in our group had mimosas, which were well received... especially the grapefruit mimosa, which my partner really enjoyed. For food, there were several highlights. My partner had the chicken and waffles and loved it; I tried some and would agree it was very good. Another person in our group ordered the steak breakfast tacos, which came as a set of three. They only ate two, and I had the third and it was delicious and something I would recommend. Another in our group had the eggs Benedict and thought it was excellent. I had the biscuits and gravy with fried eggs. It was okay, but not something I would go out of my way to order again. In terms of value, prices felt consistent with the quality of the food, service, and overall setting. It's not a budget brunch spot, but it feels appropriate for the experience. Overall, it was a really enjoyable Easter brunch with great service, a comfortable and well-designed interior, and several strong menu items. Early dinner with the hubby and this night was definitely a thumbs up....way up! The food was excellent, out in a timely manner but our waitress and I wish I remembered her name didn't miss the mark! She was gracious, had some great wine suggestions, and we just had a good time! Just celebrated my son's birthday this evening, August 15. We split the rack of lamb with a filet mignon. Both were cooked to absolute perfection, medium rare. The food was spectacular, and the chef was awesome. Our server was a sweetheart and delivered, and a strong and timely manner and very friendly. We enjoyed our dinner there to a full 4.5 star level. The disappointment was there were no people in the restaurant and we couldn't understand why as the food was spectacular. Our recommendation definitely give this place a try. read more

My fam had a nice dinner celebrating my parents 50th anniversary. The food and service were quite good. All the appetizers hit. We ordered the calamari, bread, and bruschetta. I ordered a nicely cooked, tasty rack of lamb. Others were happy with their entrees as well. The Halloween vibe during October was a fun touch. The Ghost Lounge bar area looked inviting. Cigars might be a thing. My nosed picked up a scent. Apparently the building is haunted? Bodies have been found in the walls. Spooky! I would have 5 starred it, but uhhh there were too many flies. The Exchange hosted our party of about 20 for a dear friends birthday. The place is absolutely gorgeous inside. Every detail was beautiful and classy. Our food was delicious, every one around the table agreed with one comment of the salmon being a bit dry. I know I enjoyed my Marsala immensely and multiple people fell in love with the spicy chicken papperdelle. We had two very patient servers assigned to our party upstairs that gave great cocktail recommendations and handled our requests and questions with great patience. We went to the exchange for a friend's birthday celebration. We reserved the private room upstairs and there was so much room. There was a bathroom conveniently located upstairs that we could use. There was a 20% gratuity for our large group and they do not split the check, so if you do go with a large group come prepared! The drinks were really good. The berry smash with goose vodka was not too sweet and had a nice hint of basil. The old fashion was smooth. Our servers were very friendly and patient. I'd definitely go back to chill by the bar. Went to dinner here to celebrate our engagement and we really enjoyed our meal. Our server was Joe, and he was very attentive and did a great job. The food was fantastic, but the lamb lollipops and clam chowder were the clear stars of the meal. The only small negatives were their hostess apparently went home early and we stood at the host station for about 10-15 minutes before anyone noticed we were there and our first round of drinks took about 20 minutes because the bar was backed up. We started off with a glass of wine, the Blue Frog cab & the Rombauer Chardonnay. My husband ordered the apple and cranberry salad and I had the special asparagus appetizer. My husband enjoyed his salad. The asparagus appetizer was okay. It needed some salt or seasoning. For entrees, I had the salmon and my hubby had the rigatoni bolognese. Both were very tasty. My only complaint is that the salmon on the menu said it had apples and candied walnuts. Both were missing. If salmon came as mentioned on the menu, I would have given 5 stars instead of 4. We finished with the banana bread pudding with vanilla ice cream. Delish! Service was very good. We will definitely return. read more

Came here to ring in the new year and listen to some jazz at their New Year's Eve Masquerade Party! Love the ambience and decor. Service was great! The menu was prix fixe for dinner. A couple of choices for appetizer, salad, and main course. Came with wine pairings. Dessert was self-serve in the Ghost Lounge which is actually a very cool place to hang out and chill with the Jack Skellington decorations. For our appetizers, my husband had the Grilled Red Endive & Frisée with Garlic Buttered Prawn and Romesco Sauce and I had the Stuffed Delicata Squash with Arugula Walnut Ferro. Both were delicious! For salad, we ordered the Beet Salad comprised of Spinach, Arugula, Chioggia Beets, Blood Orange, Almonds, Goat Cheese, and Shallot Vinegar and paired with Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc. Elegant salad, lightly dressed and well-balanced. For dinner, we both ordered the Filet Mignon with Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Chef Sampler Mushrooms, Roasted Romanesco, Red Wine Demi Glaze. This was paired with a Fred Red (I think). Perfectly cooked piece of beef was fantastic flavors. My favorite on this dish would have to be the mushrooms. Well-prepared, Chef Ruby! Dessert was self-serve in the Ghost Lounge. Assorted cookies, cannolis, and this chocolate truffles that were out of this world! Later on they served a raspberry sorbet which hit the spot at the end of the evening before the champagne was served. Happy to have celebrated here. The best part was the jazz band. If my friends ever see this review they're gonna hate me because they LOVE this place. I'm a little on the fence however but I think it's worth giving a review without having been back yet to give them another shot. For the record I would like to still. I love the decor and I like what they are trying to be. I like the creativity of the drinks and food menu in general too. Where I think they fall short was execution, at least on the food. Everything was just lacking a tad. I enjoyed the flavor profiles and combinations just needed more punch to everything. The fish I ordered (swordfish I believe), was cooked fairly nicely. That was my first time trying swordfish so I don't have much to compare to there. It came with sort of a strawberry balsamic salad that was interestingly good. I think it would have benefited from some sweeter strawberries to go with that balsamic. We all ordered multiple drinks that day and we enjoyed them all. Everyone enjoyed their desserts but I think the one I picked was the best, the lemon Tiramisu. It was the perfect balance for me of zesty and sweet. As for the service they came to check on us multiple times throughout the night but they sort of did it in spurts. Not a lot of in between checks. I remember I ended up having to drink my friend's water at one point. Again I'd still go back to give it another shot but as of now o think for their prices and executions it just needs to be better. read more

Came here for the first time on Valentine's Day, I was very hopeful as the location and atmosphere of the restaurant are lovely. We had a table set next to the window and were sat quickly. Unfortunately, it seems the front desk and waiting staff have communication problems as our table's server, and multiple other tables in our vicinity, were not informed we had even arrived. Which resulted in us not being helped for at least 25 minutes upon arrival. Not even for drink orders. Once our server was aware we were in his section, he was very kind and attentive. I believe his name was Joe and he tried his best to make up for the mistake. When we were finally able to order our meals, we were informed one of the three entree choices from the pre-fix menu had sold out (the filet) but luckily the chefs had found some ribeyes for 21 lucky customers. I enjoyed my clam chowder, except the herb stems that were more like twigs. My partner was disappointed in his very dry Caesar salad. The ribeye entrees were fine. The char was nice and they came out cooked perfect temperature. Our mashed potatoes and three broccolini that weren't very flavorful and had no visible seasoning. We both ordered the seasonal crisp for dessert, as the chocolate mousse cake looked like chocolate cake you could buy from a grocery store. The crisp was fine but the fruit could've been baked longer. All in all, this meal was not worth the price or experience. Hopefully, The Exchange is able to make some changes because it is a lovely restaurant but I won't be coming back for a while. read more

We absolutely loved our first experience at Exchange 1874. The service was incredible -- attentive, welcoming, and genuinely warm. The food was amazing, beautifully prepared, and worth every penny. It felt like such a special place. When we returned a couple of months later, we were a little disappointed. The menu had changed to mostly small plates designed for sharing, but the prices remained on the higher end. They also significantly reduced their wine selection and steak options, which was one of the things we loved the first time. The service was still amazing -- truly top-notch and consistent -- but unfortunately the food just wasn't as impressive as it had been before. We're hopeful they continue evolving, because the staff and atmosphere are wonderful. It just didn't quite have that same "wow" factor the second time around. read more

I have been here a handful of times, when it was oddfellow. Every time I go it was exceptional service.. But tonight simply sucked. My friend and I went in close to 4:30pm chose the bar. Nobody was in there. Place was pretty quiet. Took the server alittle over 8 minutes to get to us. Since it was dead.. Waitress/bartender was kind enough.. but the experience sucked. Informed that the owners hires incompetent staff.. high turnover... it clearly showed tonight. I really don't recommend this place at the rate it's going, not going to last here in Woodbridge. I would have rather gone to wine and roses which is worse.. Good luck. read more

Interesting meal on Valentine's Day Fixed price menu tonight. Starting with seating- made an early reservation (5:00) but were seated on their "patio." No mention of this or the menu when we made reservations. The rocking table wasn't the cleanest and had no cloth. Server was able to fix it with a wedge. The menu had no less than 7 spelling errors (sorry, the teacher in me is coming out) Choice of Caesar Salad or Clam chowder. My friend and I chose the Chowder, partially because it was cold outside. We each got a toothpick sized thyme stem in our tiny bowls. Friend chose the Salmon and I chose the Filet (rare). It came out well done. Sent back. Came to the table quickly but everything was cool by that time. Dessert choices were Seasonal Crisp (underdone fruit) and what was on the menu listed as a Chocolate "Mouse" Cake. Overall, the service was fine but The Exchange will have to try harder. The menu wasn't special- the 3 protein choices all came with mashed potatoes and vegetables (spelled 3 different ways on the menu). A cloth on the table, outside heaters on before guests arrive. Went for a birthday party at the loft area of the restaurant. Love the new decor and the ambiance. Romantic, chic' loved thing all the options. Just went back to try a couple more dishes. One of my favorite restaurants in the area. "Seed to table" fresh ingredients, delicious dishes and awesome service. Last night they had live jazz on the bar side. It was my both me and my husbands first time here and we live local so we were excited to see something new come to town, knowing there weren't too many restaurants around Lodi. We were seated on a Tuesday evening around 5:30pm on the balcony which we had to ourselves and was nice. I ordered the Blueberry basil smash and although the drink was pretty to look at, it was very watered down. Probably because it had so much ice in it. My husband didn't like his drink either and we've been to tons of bars in Sacramento and know what we like. We ordered both appetizers and entrees but our appetizers alone took like 20 mins to come out!!!! The bone marrow was good and we also ordered the prosciutto and pear ensemble but the presentation and dish itself was just okay. I had the salmon and thought it was okay but my husband loved his New York. I think some items are just a hit and miss here, but our food took way too long to come out. We got our food dishes 45mins after we were seated. Our waiter took so long to come back that we had to go to the front desk to ask for the check. Our bill was a little pricey and I don't believe our experience was worth what we paid. I think this place has potential, but there's a few things that still need to be ironed out. read more

The building is hauntingly beautiful , an old structure assumably built in 1874 thus the name. Diners are scattered strategically around the area to assure privacy & comfort. The steaks are good, the salad appetizing & creatively set. (I found the fruitti di Mari too creamy for my taste tho). The roasted bone marrow appetizer & the bowl of mussels were delightful . Everything is homemade, the mushrooms with the Marsala are spectacular I ordered the clam chowder, I want to thank the chef for getting it right. I've had chowder in Maine many times. They do it right, no artificial thickening just a ton of chopped clams and clam broth with usual veggies. Absolutely authentic. read more

Our server was very friendly and the drinks and appetizer we ordered came out timely. However we waited over an hour for our dinner , Our waiter did feel bad for us waiting and brought us bread. For dinner, I got the pasta which barely had any chicken and my husband had the lamb which lacked flavor. We ended up leaving with a pretty hefty bill and just not impressed. Went to the first night of the speak easy and it was a very cool vibe! However, the bartender working was very rude and talking bad about customers very openly and loud for everyone to hear. When someone ordered a drink she didn't like to make she would make a face or say ugh out loud. When another customer ordered an old fashion, she looked at him with an annoyed face and said I just made one you're going to have to wait now. Server was not friendly and looked as though she definitely did not want to be working. She treated us differently than other tables. Food & drinks My first visit was with a group for after dinner drinks. We all enjoyed a variety of different drinks. However I really enjoyed the smoked old fashioned. The presentation was excellent and even better, it was a solid tasting Old Fashioned. My second visit was a dinner date and we again enjoyed cocktails in their amazing bar. Then we moved over to the dining room for dinner. We started with a warmed foccacia bread & balsamic; salads, and the entrees. A beef & sausage rigatoni and pork chop, potatoes & green beans. The bread was the biggest disappointment. It was just not really good as it, tasted dry, possibly store bought and the dipping balsamic oil was not seasoned. The green salad & Ceasar salad were exceptionally made with fresh veggies & homemade croutons. My porterhouse pork chop was meaty, cooked well and I loved the fruity topping that was on it. The rigatoni dish was meaty as well as tasty. IMO for the price point it should include some complimentary garlic bread to enjoy along with the pasta. I also wish they had a gourmet burger & chicken or steak sandwich on their dinner menu. Service- The hostess was amazing! She greeted us, checked on us regularly and kept us updated on our table status while we were waiting in the bar. Even after waiting for our entrees for quite a while she was able to make sure we quickly got them. Our server and other support staff were all friendly and helpful. Atmosphere- The real winner here! A sexy, dark, enticing vibe !! Beautifully decorated with a sophisticated style yet maintaining the historical feel of the building. The layout is spacious and I appreciate how the bar is separated from the dining area. Not sure how I feel about the horror movies playing in the bar- I think blues and jazz would be a better fit? However due to the ghost history of the building I see their vision. Highly recommend for drinks 100% ! Quickly I was disappointed when the waiter informed us the "items" not available on the menu No deviled eggs, calamari, and something else I did hear bcz the first two were what I was going to order. We did Not even get an apology. What we did order was the pork belly (delicious) carpaccio (just ok) 2 Ribeye steaks (1 super fatty) and when we wanted mashed potatoes instead of fingerlings we were told it would be a 10$ up charge, Mushroom pasta with skirt steak (good, but not 36$ good and the steak was in big chunks not sliced since a steak knife was not given). I recently visited your restaurant on Saturday, November 15th, to celebrate my wedding anniversary with my husband. We had a 6:30 pm reservation for two and were seated in the ghost lounge. Upon arrival, the hostess seemed overwhelmed and stressed, dealing with another guest's issue. Once she attended to us, she apologized and mentioned it was going to be a long night due to short staffing. Throughout the evening, we experienced significant delays. It took over an hour to receive our appetizer, the gouda and apple flatbread, which arrived at 7:30 pm. When our bartender finally took our order for dinner at around 7:50pm after she cleared our appetizer plates, she informed us that the ribeye and salmon were no longer available. We opted for alternative dishes, but our food didn't arrive until 8:30ish pm, after I inquired about its status. The evening was marked by poor customer service and a sense of disorganization. The staff's stress and short staffing issues were apparent, and it affected our overall experience. We had specifically chosen your restaurant for the ribeye, and being unable to order it was disappointing. Due to the late hour, we decided not to order dessert. To improve, I suggest reviewing staffing levels on busy nights and implementing more efficient service. However, the tone set by the hostess and bartenders reinforced the chaotic atmosphere. We will probably not visit your establishment on a weekend and we will try again during a weekday in the near future. read more
