I used to go here all the time because Mya was really good. Yesterday I went and got Angie. I asked her to leave half an inch on the sides and back and leave a little longer on the top. When she was done, I asked for it to be shorter, because she had only taken half an inch OFF the sides and back. She argued with me, saying that's not what I asked for, and if I wanted shorter, she would have to start all over. I said, okay, start all over. So then she BUZZCUT MY ENTIRE HEAD, which is NOT what I asked for. It's not even a good buzzcut, it's uneven. If I wanted a buzzcut, I'd do it myself at home. Reasonably priced compared to some of the chain barber shops like Great Clips where don't even know how to do a simple fade. Took my 2 year old son here for his FIRST haircut. The lady asked what I wanted and I told her a medium fade. She pointed to where and I said yes, then the lady next to her started to cut his hair. Before she started to cut we had asked if we can keep some curls. She cut my sons hair but the fade was super low, I said are you going to cut more? She said why didn't I tell her? I said we agreed where to cut? The lady cutting the hair was much older than the lady communicating with me so the lady talking to me wasn't even the one cutting the hair. My husband asked can I still keep some of the curls? And the lady said get it off the floor and she kicked some hair on the floor! So rude. Before leaving we asked what do we call this haircut? Great local barbershop! I've tried most of the barbers (Lena, George, Candice, and Van), and they're all really nice and give even better fades. Price is only $11, which is amazing given the quality haircuts they provide. I've been coming here for years, and will continue to be loyal to here even though I live in the peninsula now. The other barbershop next door can try and poach customers with lower prices, but you can't buy loyalty for good people, a friendly smile, and a quality haircut. I recently moved into the area and was looking for a good barber for a comb-over haircut. After looking at all the good reviews, I decided to give it a try. I told the lady that had cut my hair that I wanted a trim on top, taper on the back, and 0.5 fade on the sides. After a while when she was cutting my hair, I noticed very long chunks of hair being cut and I asked how much she was cutting off of a TRIM. She said she was blending the back portion of the top and cut almost 1.5 inches off! I have been growing out the top of my hair for a long time and she did not follow anything I asked. Great shop overall, everyone has a good attitude and there's always some game on TV. The entire staff cuts well but I usually get a fade from Toni. From the 5/19/13 reviewer, I can't speak on Lina's management skills since I never worked under her, but I wouldn't gather she's money hungry or dishonest since she dropped the price of the haircuts to 9$(probably to bring in more customers), and she has always said what she does. But the bottom line, I'm sure she wants to make money, and any business owner who doesn't want to make more money is a "fool." Just brought a smile to my face right now. Sooo back then I used to go here and these guys were always nice to me. Trimmed/cut my hair just the way I'd want them to. But since now I am bald (by choice) - I don't go here, but my dad does. And he loves Georges Barber Shop. Its really close to my house and really easy to get to. Their prices aren't that bad either, its around $10-$12; depending what you want to get done. Parking is across the street. Not all that bad. So I've been here 3 times to get my haircut as of this posting, and all those times, my hair came out exactly the way I wanted it! For the price, I think I'll be coming here every chance I get. I don't like to do fancy things to my hair; rather, I just need it short, presentable, and with a little on top so that I can comb over to the side. Linh knows exactly what I mean, even though I'm still not well-versed in what numbers to use. Even in the spots of my head where my hair grows funny, she knows exactly what to do to make it look neat. I also appreciate the TVs that are tuned to sporting events every time I'm in there. Legitimately the worst haircut I've ever received. I asked for a bald fade with one inch off the top. The fade was uneven, but the worst part was the top. She took off way more than one inch, and on top of that she didn't even use a comb to help her measure. She literally wacked away, leaving an uneven mess, causing me to have to go to Rick's barbershop to salvage what was left of my hair. I had the most terrible experience here with Lina- who I believe is the manager or owner. She did a terrible job cutting my 7 year old son hair. She cut the line way to high and used a O when I told her I wanted a 1 high top fade. The only reason for the 1 star was because Candice did a great job on my other sons hair and the male barber did an ok job on my other sons. When it was time to pay Lina told me $33 for all three haircuts! We did not get any design and nothing fancy! So I questioned her and she said it was because she cut it with a 0! Then she continues and tells me that she will also charge $1 per haircut for using a card! I asked where the sign was that said that and she said, "All my customers know this!" I hardly EVER give poor reviews but this was terrible- not only did the owner of the salon do a terrible job- she has a phantom $1 extra charge for using a card! Yesterday I had a haircut at George's and it was the worst I have ever had. I emerged looking like a woodpecker with tufts sticking out the left side of my head. This was a good deal more serious than the fact that the hair-butcher cut it very short after I asked that it be "medium" and "not too short." Almost all barber shops in the East Bay are closed on Sundays, this shop is one of the only few that are opened 7 days a week, how convenient! Upon walking in, Lina the one who cut my hair, was extremely welcoming and friendly, I highly recommend you go to her. I showed her a picture of my previous hair cuts and what I wanted, she took a quick glance and instantly knew what to do. Lina was amazing, she did such a great job cutting my hair.
