Man, I gotta tell you! I saw this spot featured by In The Kut on YouTube and I was hooked just by how the place looked. It had those old menus that just by looking at it, you KNOW the food is fire! This spot is located in the historic Boyle Heights area of L.A. At first, it was hard to find. It's next to a large BofA building that kind of hides it. Once we parked in the lot behind the building,e stepped out and immediately got a whiff of that grill! I stepped up and ordered the pastrami burger combo (burger, fries, and a drink). I also ordered the onion rings on the side, which I'll describe in a bit. The pastrami was nice and lean- not too fatty. I spread some ranch onto it and my eyes rolled back into my head after that bite! The ranch is thicker than others that I've had. There is also what looked like dill in it. The burger also came with a small side of spicy mayonnaise. It was perfect! Then I saw the onion rings. They are the size of a glazed donut! Just massive! 4 come in an order. That's probably enough. The breading is that smooth one- not the rough panko one. You know that one is going to slap! My whole meal was $24. Not too shabby. Ok, maybe I had high hopes for this place, but I'm not I was disappointed either. To start off, the young lady behind the window was great. She helped me select a nice choice out of their burger selection. She was polite and very helpful in answering my questions., I picked the avocado bacon burger. Here is where the good and room for improvement could happen. To start the meat was very tasty with a nice bit of char, but a little on the dryer side. The bacon had good flavor as well, but the avocado was barely there. Don't get me wrong this taste like a backyard barbecue burger and I would definitely like to dry their pastrami burger next. Now as for their onion rings, it would be for the fact I took them to go, as they must have steamed in the bag and gotten a bit soggy. The batter was like a bear batter and loved the portions of onion to batter ratio. So minus being a bit soggy and oily, I still liked them. I think the highlight was the ranch dressing. I loved their ranch dressing for sure. Hahaha Now since I didn't stay to dine in, I can only say it was a hot afternoon and there was outdoor seating with some in the shade and some that you would definitely get your tan on. Stopped by for dinner at George's Burger Stand around 6pm on a Thursday night and they were not busy at all. Walked right up and got to my place my order. Within 5 minutes my meal was out so the service was very fast which was appreciated. Here you will only find outdooor patio seating. We sat there and tried their chili cheese hot dog and their cheese burger. The chili cheese dog was a bit disappointing. The chili cheese was great however the hot god itself was not good. It was a bit under cooked for my preference. Would have to give the hot dog a 2 out of 5. The cheeseburger on the other hand was good. No complaints on that and would have to rate the cheeseburger a 4 out of 5. The French fries here are so good, love the seasoning on them. Fries are a 5 out of 5. After seeing George's Burger Stand on the Andrew, Steven, and Adam show on YouTube, I decided to give the place a try. First off, be aware of parking and traffic as the area is crammed. The restaurant itself is small and has plenty of seats. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't busy. The lady who took my order didn't greet me and she was blunt with me, but it could have just been an off day for her. The man who made my order was nice, professional, and asked if I wanted any sauces. I ordered the George's Burger Combo with an Almond Milk Horchata. My partner ordered the Beyond Avocado Burger with Onion Rings and a Lemonade. The order did not take long, about a 10 minute wait. The burger itself was fresh and tasted real. From the buns to the veggies to the meat itself, it all tasted good. The burger was hearty and filling without leaving you feeling tired or gross. The only downside about the burger is that it could use more sauce, I had a hard time tasting it with each bite. The fries were good and were seasoned lightly; they had a nice crisp and soft interior. I never had Horchata with Almond Milk and to my surprise, it was great. Not too sweet and it was refreshing. Their sauces are made in house and I tried their ranch. Appearance wise, the ranch definitely stood out compared to typical fast food ranch. The ranch was thick, creamy, and paired nicely with the fries and onion rings. The onion rings were what I really wanted to try. The onion rings are made fresh and they use beer batter. They have a nice golden color and crunch when you bite into them. Unlike other onion rings, these ones snapped with each bite and the onion itself didn't drag out nor was it too soft. You can definitely taste the beer flavor and it paired nicely with the onion. My only complaint is that some areas of the onion ring had too much batter so at times it would just be a bit mush. The onion rings weren't overly greasy either. My partner who is vegetarian said it was the best vegetarian burger she has ever had. She loved the fries and onion rings as well. Overall, a great little food joint to go to every now and then. If you want something fresh with some variety, definitely check out George's Burger Stand. I felt like a cheeseburger so went to Yelp & rushed the 2 miles here ! Cheeseburger was yummy, not a thin & charred patty, chopped iceberg vs shredded or leaves; perfect amount of sauce. They have dine-in area where you can look on Cesar Chavez Ave while chowing down your food. Only downside about George's Burger Stand is the limited parking areas. What I Ordered: -Pastrami Burger $12.99 I've passed by George's Burger Stand on Cesar E Chavez Ave many times and saw the George's sign, which is so iconic. I've always been curious about the food. I always order food that's a part of a restaurant's name. Coming to George's, I knew I had to order a burger of some kind. I asked the gentleman behind the counter about what I should order and he immediately said without hesitation, the Pastrami Burger. I was instantly sold! I didn't arrive on an empty stomach as I ate some food at Guisado's beforehand. When in Rome! Speaking of Guisado's, I read online that the same family that owns Guisado's also owns George's Burger Stand. I knew going in that it (George's) would be good, but I didn't know how good it would really be. I love burgers and pastrami! For me, that's a winning combination! The burger was so delicious and cooked to perfection. The pastrami was good pastrami as well. I really didn't expect the pastrami from a burger joint to have such good pastrami. Since, I ate previously I skipped the fries and other dishes. I found George's Burger Stand after accidentally finding it on the YouTube channel from the former Worth It guys Andrew, Steven, and Adam. (They have since launched a new channel after the Buzzfeed series.) At any rate I was dying for something different and the onion rings at George's Burger Stand looked SO GOOD that I had to run out and try it for myself. Upon arriving, I quickly decided that I wanted a Western Burger (bacon, 1 onion ring and BBQ sauce), a small order of onion rings and a Sprite. The food took a little bit of time, but that's ok because you know it's freshly made. There's a nice covered patio where you can eat your food, and if you are a solo PLEASE do yourself a favor and get the small order of onion rings. Any larger and you won't be able to finish it. The burger is pretty delicious and not drowning in sauce, which I like. I had to ask for a side of ranch, since ranch and onion rings go so well together. The onion rings are DELICIOUS and so different from the breaded kind you get from the frozen food section of the grocery store. These are made out of a beer batter, and CRISP. The coating doesn't fall apart like all of the other onion rings you have tried. It's crisp and you can bite it, like an apple. My meal was $24, but definitely try this place you haven't!! read more

Found this spot and decided to give it a try. Came around lunchtime during the week it wasn't too busy. Young man taking orders was nice. There was one cook from what I could see. Parking here isn't the best and kind of a struggle. I had to park in the area that said bank parking only lol I only ordered a pastrami and a side of ranch. Ranch was for some zucchini I got from a different spot. The pastrami was not my favorite, although it had flavor the meat was really thick. Not like a typical pastrami. I have had really bomb pastrami and I would say this one was good. The ranch was also a disappointment for me and I really love ranch and know GOOD ranch when I have it. This ranch tasted more of like a thick dill yogurt if that makes sense. Some people may like that strong dill flavor but the texture and taste wasn't for me. However I'm not sure I will be back. Photos and reviews show that they're highly rated; so of course, we had to come and check it out. If in & out and Tommy's got together, George's would be their love child. There's so much potential for success, with any business running in a community since 1963. But it seems the owners have taken their eye off the ball. A 60s-diner appropriate Spotify playlist is playing on the patio speaker. But this is absolutely drowned out by rock and hip-hop music being blasted from the kitchen door, open at the back of the patio, under the speaker. The cacaphony is actually disturbing, making it hard to enjoy the meal. We saw no effort to keep the patio tidy. Yes this is an open patio on Cesar Chavez Ave, but all the trash was from customers, not from the street. The menu item Chili Fritos is clever, served inside a foil Fritos bag, but it contained no chili! Only the grease or "sauce" from the chili, which was nice and spicy. Would have liked to sample their actual chili. The iconic sign cannot be seen from most angles, due to the massive ficus tree growing around it. Trim the tree! This is allowed, for trees on the public sidewalk in front of your property. Best of luck, hope your business lasts another 60 years. read more

Out of all the mom and pops burger stands. This has to be one of the bests. Better tasting beef burgers and hand craft quality. Not another run of the mill frozen patty establishment. Not to mention the excellent customer service I received . It also have that old school hamburger stand vibe like back in the day. The only thing I don't like was the surrounding areas. The limited or no parking. I would recommend phoning ahead and just picking up. I parked at the bank cause that's all I could find. But I was t there for long. We needed a good greasy meal and found this burger joint. The service was great! We ordered 2 combos and it was close to $40. The cheeseburgers were well seasoned. I was missing thr juice from the burger as the bun and the burger were a little dry but still very good! The fries were well done, crispy and crunchy on the outside and potatoey on the inside. The onion rings were beer battered and a bit oily but you could tell they were hand battered and made to order. Delish! The chocolate shake hit the spot and made me feel like a kid again. Went to this place with some of my Coworkers yesterday for lunch! The spot is a bit small but it's still very original and cozy. There's also a lot of open space and tables outside of the diner as well! The people who took our order was incredibly kind and patient as well! Amazing work! We though that the windows full of stickers was awesome and the fact that they're currently doing a special on the LA Dodgers. They're doing a blue milkshake and garlic fries as a special. As I was driving in the LA area, I was in a mood for the best pastrami burger in the area and found George's Burger Stand was the top rated located in LA using Yelp. IDK where to start; it was more like a bait and switch from Yelpers photos of the foods here at George's Burger Stand looks bigger in photos than actual. Carne asada burrito for this much; the portions did not match the price point; it was the size of a Del Taco burrito, and it was kind of salty. There are no public restrooms, no dining, and only a few tables outside on the busy and loud streets of LA. While I was driving and saw the photos of George Burger Stand, I was excited about what they had to offer, but overall, I was not satisfied, still left hungry. Super unimpressed with George's. I've been looking forward to trying it for a few months now, but I was really disappointed in the food. Bf and I shared the chili cheese burger and onion rings - I've never been so happy to have shared something instead of ordering my own food. 1. Chili cheeseburger - Solid 3/5, the chili was great, but there was not enough on this burger. It felt like the burger as a whole was really lacking in flavor. The saving grace was the yellow peppers on the side. I really like Dino's chili cheeseburger much better and my bf prefers Patras. 2. Onion rings - SO SO SO oily!!! Mind you, I absolutely know that fried foods are oily, but damn all the oil just soaked into the batter. I am not a fan of food waste, I will finish almost anything. We headed to Los Angeles for an eating adventure. Recently, we watched Hulu's series Eater Around the World. They featured George's Burger in the Boyle Height part of LA. It is a traditional old fashion burger stand out of the 60's. They feature only burgers, pastrami sandwiches, fries, onion ring and shakes. They are not trying to be something they are not. There was a young man behind the counter and appeared to be doing everything. He took the order, came out washed the tables and cleaned the counter. There was a "huffer" that came in and started yelling at the patrons / staff. He was kind to her and offered her a spoon even though she had not ordered any food. He seems to be a hard working young man with a good work ethic. We ordered their famous pastrami sandwich and a large order of onion rings. The pastrami was a bit grisly but balanced with a flavorable pickle. The onion ring was a different story. The onion was submerged in an over breaded batter that had no flavor. I felt like I was eating bland fried batter. Unfortunately, I will not be returning and was disappointed with the meal. I love a good old fashion haunt but they need to step it up. read more

Speedy and fresh. The fries have a battered/textured coating. I like them but very filling. Thick. So I'm glad I got the small. The quality of the beef and burger was good.
