Hubby LOVES George's! I am never quite sure until I take my last bite. I do enjoy their nightly specials, esp. the all you can eat Fish Fry Fridays. Hubby really likes the prime rib on Sat. Been going here for years...mainly for breakfast, but sometimes for the fish fry on Fridays (and now Sundays too). I love the fish fry, but let me tell you...this is THE. BEST. BREAKFAST. PLACE. EVER. My entire family and anyone we have ever brought there agrees. Best diner coffee (for some reason diner coffee usually sucks, which makes no sense) Best eggs benedict in the world (I order it wherever we go to breakfast and am always disappointed compared to George's) Best pancakes around. Home fries and beans are incredible. (beans may seem random for some at breakfast...but they are a great addition to any dish) GREAT wait staff...always familiar, super friendly and eager to please. Cozy environment, fast service, late breakfast.....just like a diner should be (someone in a review said "this isn't really what you'd call a diner"???? um....no, actually THIS is what a diner is). Affordable. My husband and I usually eat until we are bursting at the seams...we both get coffee and/or juice in addition to our meals, and always walk out for less than $20 for breakfast. Stopped here for breakfast this morning while on a family camping trip. Bacon was nice and smokey and the pancakes have Maine blueberries! Floors had a dirty feel but it's a diner so it's to be expected. read more

This establishment is for real. Hearty breakfasts served till 2 p.m. and great specials throughout the week. I found myself getting a food chubby while scouring the menu....all you can eat fish fry on Thursday, all you can eat fried chicken on Friday, etc. I ate their twice and kept it basic both times and went with breakfast. Eggs, potatoes, homemade toast, and some of the best sausage links I have ever had. Seriously folks the flavor of these extraordinary little meat vessels gave me a case of the good ol tippy nippies. I peeked around at other patrons dishes and they all looked extremely appetizing. Many of my fellow food critics had the biscuits and sausage gravy, and had nothing but positive accolades to bestow upon them. Props to the nicest waitress EVER who served us both days. Typical great greasy diner. Really yummy breakfasts, served until 2PM. I love it when breakfasts are served late. The kitchen is very fast, I've never waited more than 10 minutes for my food to come out. They recently changed their menu and increased their prices but it's still worth it. It's a very little diner so you may need to wait sometimes. Parking is located across the street in a shared parking lot with a laundry mat and another store or there is also street parking. read more

My husband and I came here while visiting a relative in town. They suggested coming and since it got 4 stars on here, we figured it would be great. It was so-so. Standard diner, standard food. No substitutions allowed on my omelet meal, and nothing really special on the menu. My husband and I each had eggs and shared a short stack of Blueberry pancakes....light and fluffy!!! We were out for a drive to see the foliage along Lake Winnipesaukee. Stopped by George's Diner based on previous reviews. I had the BLT and my wife had the Western Sandwich. Just came here for breakfast with the bf. You should just shut up, stop deciding between the three restaurants next to each other and go to George's. The Eggs Bennie were glorious, perfectly runny and smothered in delicious Hollandaise (coming from an Egg Benedict snob). Sadly we didn't get the crispy home fries, but I saw other people who did and they looked awesome. To their defense they were well seasoned. The pancakes were fluffy and heavenly with real N. E. maple syrup, the banana bread was also amazing (unless you hate walnuts, it had tons on it). Staff was friendly and service was prompt. You need to pay these guys visit. Ugh. My first negative review written. This is another restaurant we visited in NH, it was a recommendation from the hotel staff. Unfortunately, what they said was so far off that we had to post our own opinions. I ordered veal parm. I knew that there was sort of a gummy texture, so my dad tried the veal and said that it was a patty made with ground veal. My mom ordered the all you can eat fried chicken and the waitress never came back to ask her for more. Also when she first bit into the chicken, she got a RAW piece of chicken skin that she had to spit out. My dad got the burger plate. NO BUN! What's a burger without a bun?! My brother ordered a burger as well, he ended up getting the best meal out of us, but he wasn't terribly impressed. I rarely ever give negative reviews, but I've been to many 4-5 star restaurants and this ain't one of em'. Skip this place and go to Harts for dinner. read more

Wow! This place wowed us with their breakfast. Had a veggie omlete that was beautifully cooked and fresh veggies. My husband had the corn beef omelet and he hasn't stopped raving about the corn beef. If you can get past the wait, which anytime in the summer there is, it's well worth it. They have delicious breakfast food. The service is always good, the place is clean and it just has a nice aura about it. The locals stay away in the summer, but being up here in the winter I have had the pleasure of not having to wait anymore and truly enjoy this place. In a town that thinks tourists are for jamming high bills down their throats Georges diner doesn't fall victim to such a crime. I've been to George's a few times for breakfast. It's the best local breakfast food in Meredith, hands down. The food is good, well priced, and you're bound to have leftovers. It's located a couple blocks from the lake and in downtown Meredith. The atmosphere is a "diner" atmosphere and expect a wait on a weekend or during the peak seasons (all if summer and certain winter weekends). It's worth it though! read more

Went for a weekend brunch, wish it was closer so I could go back for a nice weekday lunch sometime. I imagine there's probably a horrific line during the peak tourist season, but in March it wasn't bad. We waited about 15 minutes for them to seat us - a table of 8. Their homefries were absolutely the best I have had in years. Homemade bread and muffins were also tasty. The portions were very generous, and prices were quite reasonable. OJ was from concentrate, but the baked beans were homemade. No pretense here, just a good hearty diner breakfast with great friendly service. read more

Good breakfast in a cozy somewhat chaotic atmosphere. It had a steady stream of customers coming and going. They also have a seasonal patio you can dine on, though we opted to eat inside. Breakfast was a good portion. Not the best I've ever had, but it was tasty. The service was somewhat slow. Finished our drinks and was never offered refills. Had to flag down the waitress for extra napkins and the check. It wasn't super busy so I'm not sure as to why she wasn't more attentive. Something's going on at George's. We are longtime customers who have enjoyed the food, country diner ambiance, the friendliness and professionalism of wait staff of this local diner. Today, however, for the second time in recent history, as we ate our meal, we were been surprised and disappointed not being greeted, seeing so many uncleared tables that remained uncleared with wait servers appearing not to noticel, and floors looking grungy. We hope that whatever is going on is rectified soon! We love George's, and hope it's not on the downswing! read more

Very good food. The staff is amazingly warm and friendly. A very nice group of young people. I know it says its recommended for Breakfast and Brunch but Lunch and Dinner is amazing. That have nightly specials which usually include an all you can eat special. You can look up some on their website. I had steak tips in a sweet bourbon sauce Ethan that were very good but my favorite part was their mashed potatoes. They were the best I've had in a restaurant. My husband had fried scallops that were also very good. They were lightly battered and very tender. Their fries are fresh cut and yummy.. It's a little place on a little side street with big flavor. I enjoyed it very much. We were on vacation in town for 5 days and went twice it was so good. read more
