These are phenomenal donuts. You have to get there early in the morning though. The old saying, the early bird gets the worm is true here. 10 am is too late. I got there by 7:30 one day and the the trays were emptying and new trays were coming. I wish they were open on Sundays. I'm not always around on Saturday. The flavors are top notch and the donuts are large with the perfect texture. I have to thank my surrogate dad who has since passed for introducing me to this great place. The staff is very friendly and prices are reasonable. I would suggest getting up and being there before 6 am. Last minute decision to find a mom and pop-style doughnut while on the road on a Saturday morning. George's Doughnuts did not let us down! We got there about an hour before closing so selection was limited but that's no one's fault but ours. We'll definitely order ahead if we travel through the area again. Okay, this is coming from someone who is not a huge donut consumer. I love, love, love them, but I have other indulgences that I prefer, and donuts are just lower on the priority list. After reading all the high praise on Yelp, I decided to get 4 dozen to bring to one of the manufacturing plants that I work with. I phoned the order in the night before, and it works like this. Dial in and an answering machine will pick up, state your name, telephone number, date and time that you called, date of pick up, state your order, repeat you order, say thank you, and you're done. I arrived the following morning expecting to be underwhelmed. How could a donut be this good? I picked up the large order and had them add one lglazed on the side for myself. One taste of that little donut and I was in heaven. Light, puffy, airy, like a little glazed cloud of goodness. I brought the goods to the plant and they all were very, very happy to see that I'd gotten the "good stuff" as one of the Operators put it. I've read in other reviews about bad service and attitude, but the people I encountered were nothing but pleasant with a very customer focused approach. The interior, while not elaborate, is one of the nicest donut shops I've ever been in (that's not too many), but enough to say hey, nice fake fireplace! Seriously. OMG SO GOOD. My friend wasnt lying when she told me they have the best donuts. So fluffy and perfectly sweet. I xajt even explain how delicious they are. It was fairly busy so we had to wait about 10 minutes before ordering. The staff was really nice and helpful. They are a little more expensive than the average donuts but it is so worth it. To all who loved George's Donuts, if you haven't already heard, he paased away yesterday March 3, 2021. He was 91 years old. George's Donuts opened in Garfield Heights, Ohio I believe in 1968. I fondly remember stopping to get a donut before school many mornings. I was so sad when they left my hometown. Had I known he opened in 2 new locations, I gladly would have made the trip to go there as an adult. George does makes some good donuts. I still prefer Jack Frost above all. My friend at work brought some in today. He said the hours are super early and you need to arrive early. Why don't people bring healthy snacks to work? It is never fruit or vegetable trays. Is this self destructive behavior the result of being trapped in a building during the daylight hours? Or are these attempts to thin the heard and ensure that the weaker and sicker people die off thus allowing job security during lay offs and budget trimming? Ok, now I'm dropping a star. In the 4 years since I wrote my first review, the price of a dozen donuts has gone up more than a third to over $13! These donuts still are the most delicious, but that price is enough to make sure I only buy them once a year. We were having a little overnight getaway in a neighboring town and heard someone mention George's doughnuts. We like to support mom and pop places and to try local fare so for breakfast we drove over to have a doughnut to start our day. Our mistake was sleeping in. That means we missed a lot of doughnuts! By the time we got there the cases were almost empty. I did my usual and went for the basic glazed doughnut. If they do basic well, then they can build on that. I bought four doughnuts total. Two for me and two for the hubby. I took them to go. We had a a lot of exploring to do. However, they had a very nice seating area where people/families were sitting and having coffee and eating. The doughnuts were bigger than Dunkin's. I thought that they were going to be a bit heavy because of their size. I was wrong. They were delightfully light and fluffy. The glaze was sweet but not overly sweet like Krispy Kreme's. It was probably a good thing that we didn't eat at the doughnut shop because I would have eaten a lot more doughnuts. They are probably in the top 3 of doughnuts that I have had. While I was waiting in line a woman in front of me asked when they were going to open one in her town. It says a lot about the quality and taste of food if people are driving from neighboring towns just to buy yours. These doughnuts reminded me of a type of doughnut we ate growing up called "spud nuts". They were made from potato flour. It gives them a little bit of a different taste. I feel like these doughnuts were made with something other than the typical doughnut flour. My hubby is not a big doughnut fan and he even said he would drive back for more. If you are ever near by make sure you stop in and have a doughnut or two. Next time I'm getting up early so I can see the true selection they offer. read more

Probably one of the best donuts in the area. If you are into more "mom and pop" places to eat compared to a Dunkin Donuts, this is a place I recommend. They may not have coffee that is as good as Dunkin, but the donuts are heavenly. The donuts are of a chewy, yet soft, consistency that are bigger than what you would get from a chain or a name brand from the grocery. Yes, they are fresh, but you might want to get there early to get the kind of donuts you want, especially on a Saturday. Usually when I visit, I have had no problems with the staff. Tried to get some donuts once at 10 am...sold out and closed already. This time I went on a Tuesday at 9 am. They still had a good selection. I got a half dozen. Appropriately priced IMO, for quality donuts. The service was prompt and friendly. We had 4 glazed, 1 maple frosted cake and a strawberry filled. I said to the wife about the glazed..."not as good as Krispy Kreme fresh and hot, but better than KK glazed donuts cold." She agreed. I don't normally get up this early but occasionally, I am up at 3 for work. They are the only place anywhere around Twinsburg/Hudson that is open at 4:30 am as far as I know. These are without the doubt the best donuts in the Cleveland area. I'm very picky and have been to almost all of the top rated shops within 40 min of Cleveland, and while other shops may have a really good one particular kind of donut, George's is best all around and for yeast donuts. The peanut butter is one of my favorites, and the grazed croissant. With they weren't so hard to get, since they sell out fast. My only real complaint - the maple icing could use some improvement. These donuts really don't look like anything special, but they really are delicious. Please make more/stay open later. read more

Let me first start this off by my review is solely represented by the poor management staff and not by the front counter staff or the quality and taste of these yummy donuts. The donuts are amazing probably one of the best donut stores around but they're management staff need to take a class or two about communication with their employees and how to treat people with respect, for gosh sake you're in customer service. You should know how to treat your employees better and how to talk to them better, for instants when your front counter help walked back to ask a question that your customer has asked them and the customer standing behind the counter can hear how nasty you were talking to your employee there is a big problem. It's official. This is my favorite doughnut shop, with the maple frosted custard filled yeast doughnut being my favorite doughnut.
