I just recently tried all 8 or 9 donut containing bakeries in the greater Cleveland area. Again. Donut Scene ranks #1 again. It's a clear 4.5/5. At all hours of the day you'll get moist cake donuts with crispy outsides. At most but not all hours you'll get mostly moist (albeit still not as lightly fluffy as would be an ideal donut yet to be found in Cleveland) yeast donuts too. The old fashioned donuts are extra well prepared. Most of the time the snickerdoodle and chocolate chip cookies are soft and flavorful too. Not expensive either like Jack Frost or BigMouth. Although we rarely eat doughnuts there are many other good items that we make a special trip for. Their apple fritters are the best! Also, their seasonal Paczki, kolaches, cheese danish, and (cranberry nut AND banana nut) muffins are noteworthy. We always get these "to go". Donuts here are average donuts, nothing super amazing but nothing bad. I appreciate the hours and the fact that their business is open as long as they are. If you're craving a donut at any point of the day, you know you can grab one here. They had a fair selection of donuts and cookies in the front case. I got the chocolate cream this time around, was a bit disappointed at the lack of powder on it and it was not filled much at all. The filling tasted like frosting to me, which isn't my favorite but it'll work. Tasted a bit old as well. I've been here before and they have tasted fresher and softer so maybe it's hit or miss. Don't let the plain looking storefront fool you. This donut shop is legit. First, the fact that it's 24 hours is already a bonus, but aside from that, the donuts themselves are fluffy and fresh. I only had two kinds... the chocolate long John, which was soft and sweet, and the sour cream, which is essentially an old fashioned with a little crisp tartiness. I was impressed with the quality and the service was prompt and inviting. I live out of state, but would definitely recommend this place and would come back if I was in the area. read more

I really enjoy the Donut Scene in Strongsville. I especially enjoy the sour cream donuts and the apple fritters (give them about a 25 second jolt in the microwave). I've been there at different times of the day and they have always had them. People mention old or stale tasting donuts and I have to admit that I have not experienced this over the past 10X I have been there. I must have died and gone to heaven. A 24 hour donut shop. They have a private parking lot and is located in a little strip mall. They not only have donuts, but they have muffins, cookies and cake. The have a small dining area where you can sit and enjoy your treats. They guy that was serving the donuts was very friendly and helpful. I was there later in the evening and the donuts did not appear too fresh and the selection was not great. I got the pineapple upside down cake, a lemon and sprinkle donut for $3. I live 2 minutes away from Spudnuts and I'd drive the 15 minutes for Donut Scene... but last 3 times I've gone the donuts were not good.
