    Garlic Feta Fries, gyro falafel
    Sheila A.

Went to visit this place for their happy hour and we got here just in time (literally 15 min before the end of the HH), so we immediately ordered everything we wanted to try: spicy feta (with pita bread), gyro falafel, shrimp, spanakopita, lamb chops, and garlic feta fries. It was a Friday and we got the table right away, no wait. Everything was good and definitely made us full (two of us). My favorite were the lamb chops, shrimp, and spanakopita. I prob would've ordered the falafel instead of the gyro falafel for next time. We also got a drink each (house wine and greek beer). The ambiance of this place is really nice and homey. The service was really good and fast.

After nearly ten years since my first visit to George's Greek Cafe, I returned with high expectations and genuine excitement, hoping to enjoy the same quality Greek cuisine I remembered. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of those expectations. To begin with the positives, the staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive throughout our visit. The outdoor patio on Second Street also provides a pleasant atmosphere and remains one of the restaurant's strongest features. Regrettably, the food was consistently disappointing. The gyro was dry and appeared as though it had been sitting for some time before being served. The pita was noticeably soggy, undersized, and lacked the texture and freshness one would expect. The accompanying salad consisted of low-quality greens that did not appear fresh, and it was served with what tasted like bottled dressing rather than a house-made vinaigrette. Having considerable familiarity with food preparation and dressings, the difference was immediately apparent. The calamari was acceptable but entirely unremarkable, and at $17 it did not justify its price. We also ordered a gyro salad, which suffered from the same issues as the sandwich: dry meat, uninspired presentation, and ingredients that lacked freshness. Ironically, the French fries were the most enjoyable item we received--competent, but hardly enough to elevate the overall meal. What made the experience particularly disappointing was not simply the quality of the food, but the imbalance between quality and price. I have no objection to paying premium prices when they are matched by premium ingredients, careful preparation, and attention to detail. In this case, however, the value proposition simply was not there. Based on this visit, I cannot recommend George's Greek Cafe. While the hospitality deserves recognition, the kitchen did not deliver a meal that reflected either the restaurant's reputation or its pricing. I sincerely hope management reexamines its commitment to ingredient quality, consistency, and execution, because the restaurant has the potential to offer a much better dining experience than what we encountered.

Such great food! Been coming to George's on 2nd Street for about 20 years. Never disappoints, just really really good Greek food. We had the lamb chops yummy, spanakopita appetizer, so delicious and a gyros sandwich. We ended up taking half of it home and I can't wait to eat the leftovers. Dory was our waitress and she was very helpful and friendly. We parked on a side street just right off 2nd. Very easy. I definitely recommend George's Greek on 2nd Street.

George's is our go-to whenever we are in the area, and it never disappointments. From the delicious food to the warm and helpful service, a visit to George's is like a culinary hug (though you're just as likely to get an actual hug from the wonderful team)! The avgolemeno soup is a fave on chillier days, and my boys always love the lamb.

George's is one of our fave restaurants on Belmont Shore. The food, ambience and service has never disappointed us. We have ordered the calamari, chicken spinachi, stuffed grilled salmon, the steak entree, gyro plate, baklava and another dessert, galaktoboureko. All are delicious! There are other things on the menu we look forward to trying on our next visit. On Mondays, they have half off wine bottles which is a great deal. We have tried a Greek red wine which was nice. Last night, I tried the Apla rose Greek wine which was recommended to us by one of our servers and I loved it. Will definitely order it again on our next visit. Their Greek beer, Hillas, is also a nice light beer that compliments a lot of their dishes. If you haven't checked this place out, drop by! Kick off your work week on their half off wine bottle Mondays or check out their happy hour specials. Highly recommend!

My buddy and I did a SUP session around Naples and we decided to go to one of his fav restaurants for dinner. Considering it was a Friday night, the wait at George's was not too bad, less than 15 minutes. We got a wonderful table outside. He got his favorite stuffed steak and I tried the kale salad. Great meal especially after our adventure. Casual. We parked in the lot behind the restaurant. Great service. Please come and create your own experience.

    The rice? Bro what

This is genuinely the worst Greek food I've ever had..... I'm actually stunned on the 4.4 rating unless it is in regards to the service/waiting staff because what is this...

LOVE GEORGE'S!!! Usually go Mondays for half off wine and all their staff is sooo amazing. Love the host and our server Dori was the sweetest ever. I love the patio seating and how attentive they are. 10/10 always! Until next time :)

Georges has been our family's go-to place to celebrate family milestones for over 20 years. We originally found George's on Pine Ave (the OG location) and have celebrated birthdays, graduations, holidays, and family get-togethers ever since. Niki and her team at Belmont Shore have kept the tradition alive and well with their attention to detail and service. The recipes at this location are as good as you will find anywhere. It's my favorite food on earth! I personally would like to thank Niki and her crew for helping us celebrate the life of my best friend who recently passed. The Georges catering team provided the most incredible assortment of food we could have imagined. The value was off the charts. The delivery was flawless and inexpensive. Second Street to Hermosa Beach isn't easy. I just can't thank you enough. Niki, Clayton, thank you for making my friend's send-off a perfect one. He would have loved it. We love you.

Had lunch here in the middle of the week and it was a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and well prepared. I had the pastitso with a side salad and side of avgolemeno soup. I'm a fan of avgolemeno soup and this was really good because it was very lemony. My buddy had the kale salad and she said it was delicious. I didn't try it, but it looked delicious. I had a nice Greek coffee. I took a piece of baklava home. It wasn't that good The service was stellar. Our server, Dori, is the daughter of the owner. A bright and beautiful young lady. They were both a delight and very attentive. We spoke about Greece and Cyprus. The restaurant is very cutely decorated with a cool map of Greece back by the bathrooms.

This was a great spot for a family get together. Service was excellent and very friendly. All of the food we had was amazing from the gyro sandwich to salads and soup! And they also have several selections on the kids menu (& crayons & coloring sheet). Perfect place to get your Greek food fix!

Kleftiko - Friday special on 01/31/25
    Eileen A.

Dined in on 01/31/25 - First time here. Have you ever dined somewhere and everything was just perfect? The food, the service, the ambiance. No? Well look no further because this is the place to be! We walked in and were greeted and seated like any other place. THEN... the experience began. You are greeted by your server and on this night, we had Simon. Such a great person! So welcoming and charismatic! He gave us the information on their Friday special, which was Kleftiko: a traditional Greek dish of slow-roasted lamb with potatoes and vegetables. Slow-roasted for six hours. I thought my friend and I agreed to share it and get another dish as well but she wanted her own. Lol so here is what we ordered: Kelftiko - 2 orders lol - The meat was soooo tender! Same with the potatoes which had a nice texture and seasoning to it. The side salad was sooo fresh! Dolmathes: Grape Leaves Stuffed with Ground Beef, Rice, Tomato, Spices, Tzatziki *Vegetarian upon Request - This was surprisingly amazing! Such a simple dish but absolutely delicious. We enjoyed our meal with a bottle of Chianti wine. Both dishes were amazing. Their food is fresh and all made in-house. Because of this, their food gives off a home-cooked feeling and personal touch. The manager came over and said hello. After a short chat, he offered us a complimentary baklava: a rich and flaky layered pastry dessert made with thin phyllo dough, chopped nuts, and a sweet syrup or honey. My friend and I are coming here at least once a month from now on. When you get amazing food and meet amazing people, how can you not?! 10/10 absolutely will be back!

    Baklava

My friend and I visited George's and was met with a warm welcome by our server Camden. She guided us through the menu to see what they had. I ordered the steak and although I asked for med rare it came out well done but that's okay because it was still so flavorful and just hope next time it's cooked correctly. Camden was nothing less than great ! She was attentive and checked on us and even gave us some baklava to try as it was our first time here. I can't wait to come back to try some more and for Camden as well.

That first experience is what made me come back. On my second visit, I ordered the same salad with chicken and lamb because I wanted that same experience again. When I got back to work, I realized the chicken was missing. I did not complain because I still had the lamb and the rest of the salad, and I understand that mistakes happen. Still, it was disappointing because I specifically came back wanting the same complete meal I had the first time. On my third visit, I drove from Gardena to Signal Hill specifically for that salad. After driving back to Gardena, I realized there was no dressing in the bag. I called the restaurant and explained what happened. I was told, "I'm sorry." At first I accepted that, but then I thought, what am I supposed to do with a salad with no dressing? I called back because I wanted to know what could be done. I was told that if I wanted my money back, I would have to bring the salad back to the restaurant. That meant after already driving from Gardena to Signal Hill and back, I was expected to make another trip because of something the restaurant forgot. When I explained that I was disappointed with how the situation was being handled and that I planned to leave a review, the woman on the phone responded, "All this for a dressing?" That comment bothered me more than the original mistake. Yes, it was dressing, but that misses the point. This was already the second time something had been left out of my order. The first time, I let it go. This time, the missing item affected the whole meal. What I would have appreciated was simple customer service. Acknowledge the inconvenience and make an effort to keep the customer. Something as simple as, "We apologize. Unfortunately, we cannot refund you without the food being returned, but on your next visit we will make sure we take care of you," would have completely changed the experience. Even offering a drink next time or simply saying they appreciated my business would have shown that they cared. I also tipped on my takeout order because I believe a tip is a way of showing appreciation for good service and attention to detail. I understand that a tip does not guarantee perfection, but it was disappointing to tip and still receive an incomplete order. There was also something I observed during this visit that concerned me. Someone spilled a drink, and one of the cooks helped clean it up. He wiped the floor while wearing gloves and, from what I could see, appeared to keep the same gloves on when returning to food preparation. That made me uncomfortable. I would have expected the gloves to be changed before handling food again. To be fair, the restaurant itself looks clean, organized, and well maintained. The tables, chairs, counters, and furniture appear to be in good condition. That is one of the reasons I kept giving this place another chance. I wanted to like Pita Pitaki. After my first visit, I thought it might become one of my go to places. Unfortunately, I never really got that same full experience again. My first visit was good. My second visit was missing the chicken. My third visit was missing the dressing, followed by customer service that made me feel like my concern did not matter. You can have good food and a clean restaurant, but customer service still matters. Sometimes how a business handles a mistake matters more than the mistake itself. My advice for anyone ordering takeout here is simple. Double check your order before you leave. Open the bag and make sure you have everything, especially meats, sauces, and dressing. Unfortunately, after giving this place several chances, it is no longer one of my go to spots.

It was light, fluffy, buttery, and perfectly cooked--not sticky at all. Paired with the fresh salad, it balanced the meal perfectly. Meat is well seasoned and not over cooked, rice was supple, and hummus was a texture i really enjoyed (I don't favor hummus that feels on the thin side). Not pictures is the tzatziki app I ordered, but i loved pairing it with the meat to add a refreshing element to my meal! Again, appreciate you super much Garreth!!!
