A Wonderful Experience -- Again! My wife and I returned to George's Greek Cafe in Belmont Shore yesterday afternoon, and once again, we were not disappointed. Thankfully, Sam and Clay were working again, along with some other very nice and accommodating team members. We decided to enjoy a bottle of wine and an appetizer, and as usual, everything was wonderful. What really stood out to us, though, was the genuine hospitality. When we finished, Sam took the time to give us some information about other establishments in the area that we might enjoy. We took her advice, checked a couple of them out, and had a great time. Eventually, we wandered back to George's for dinner and shared the chicken spinachi. Oh my... was it delicious! The salad, rice, pita, and tzatziki were also amazing. I just want to take a moment to say how impressed my wife and I were with Sam and Clay, who were working at the bar. They actually remembered us from our visit last month, which was our first time at this location. That may seem like a small thing, but to us it meant a lot. We were treated like family. Both Sam and Clay have such refreshing personalities, and their kindness and genuine hospitality really made our evening special. The highlight of this experience was Nikki the Manager. She was great and had a great personality and attentiveness. Paid attention to every little thing and checked in on everybody constantly in a very warm way. A very great hostess to have at a house party that's for sure. Love being down on Second Street, and George's is a favorite. I saw that they now have a happy hour menu, so we stopped in for just a few light bites! Our server Dori was lovely. We settled on the chicken sliders, dolmathes and eggplant dip with a combination of cucumbers and pita. The sliders tasty, but a bit dry- hard to fry a tiny piece of chicken and have it moist, I guess. But the little bun was soft and eating it with everything else made it better. The dolmathes were good, as always. I could have eaten a few more of those! The best deal, though was the dip platter, the only item that was regular menu size. The cucumber slices were huge! Dip and pita were warm and comforting. Satisfying combo of bites for a great price! $17 for the entire spread. Next time I would sub the lamb chops for the sliders, though they are priced at $12. The restaurant is always casual and laid back but the decor is really sharp and the open air vibe on a warm day is relaxing. read more

Went to visit this place for their happy hour and we got here just in time (literally 15 min before the end of the HH), so we immediately ordered everything we wanted to try: spicy feta (with pita bread), gyro falafel, shrimp, spanakopita, lamb chops, and garlic feta fries. It was a Friday and we got the table right away, no wait. Everything was good and definitely made us full (two of us). My favorite were the lamb chops, shrimp, and spanakopita. I prob would've ordered the falafel instead of the gyro falafel for next time. We also got a drink each (house wine and greek beer). The ambiance of this place is really nice and homey. After nearly ten years since my first visit to George's Greek Cafe, I returned with high expectations and genuine excitement, hoping to enjoy the same quality Greek cuisine I remembered. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of those expectations. To begin with the positives, the staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive throughout our visit. The outdoor patio on Second Street also provides a pleasant atmosphere and remains one of the restaurant's strongest features. Regrettably, the food was consistently disappointing. The gyro was dry and appeared as though it had been sitting for some time before being served. The pita was noticeably soggy, undersized, and lacked the texture and freshness one would expect. The accompanying salad consisted of low-quality greens that did not appear fresh, and it was served with what tasted like bottled dressing rather than a house-made vinaigrette. Having considerable familiarity with food preparation and dressings, the difference was immediately apparent. The calamari was acceptable but entirely unremarkable, and at $17 it did not justify its price. We also ordered a gyro salad, which suffered from the same issues as the sandwich: dry meat, uninspired presentation, and ingredients that lacked freshness. Ironically, the French fries were the most enjoyable item we received--competent, but hardly enough to elevate the overall meal. What made the experience particularly disappointing was not simply the quality of the food, but the imbalance between quality and price. I have no objection to paying premium prices when they are matched by premium ingredients, careful preparation, and attention to detail. In this case, however, the value proposition simply was not there. Based on this visit, I cannot recommend George's Greek Cafe. While the hospitality deserves recognition, the kitchen did not deliver a meal that reflected either the restaurant's reputation or its pricing. I sincerely hope management reexamines its commitment to ingredient quality, consistency, and execution, because the restaurant has the potential to offer a much better dining experience than what we encountered. read more

Such great food! Been coming to George's on 2nd Street for about 20 years. Never disappoints, just really really good Greek food. We had the lamb chops yummy, spanakopita appetizer, so delicious and a gyros sandwich. We ended up taking half of it home and I can't wait to eat the leftovers. George's is one of our fave restaurants on Belmont Shore. The food, ambience and service has never disappointed us. We have ordered the calamari, chicken spinachi, stuffed grilled salmon, the steak entree, gyro plate, baklava and another dessert, galaktoboureko. All are delicious! There are other things on the menu we look forward to trying on our next visit. On Mondays, they have half off wine bottles which is a great deal. We have tried a Greek red wine which was nice. Last night, I tried the Apla rose Greek wine which was recommended to us by one of our servers and I loved it. Will definitely order it again on our next visit. My buddy and I did a SUP session around Naples and we decided to go to one of his fav restaurants for dinner. Considering it was a Friday night, the wait at George's was not too bad, less than 15 minutes. We got a wonderful table outside. He got his favorite stuffed steak and I tried the kale salad. Georges has been our family's go-to place to celebrate family milestones for over 20 years. We originally found George's on Pine Ave (the OG location) and have celebrated birthdays, graduations, holidays, and family get-togethers ever since. Niki and her team at Belmont Shore have kept the tradition alive and well with their attention to detail and service. The recipes at this location are as good as you will find anywhere. It's my favorite food on earth! I personally would like to thank Niki and her crew for helping us celebrate the life of my best friend who recently passed. Had lunch here in the middle of the week and it was a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and well prepared. I had the pastitso with a side salad and side of avgolemeno soup. I'm a fan of avgolemeno soup and this was really good because it was very lemony. My buddy had the kale salad and she said it was delicious. I didn't try it, but it looked delicious. I had a nice Greek coffee. I took a piece of baklava home. It wasn't that good The service was stellar. Our server, Dori, is the daughter of the owner. A bright and beautiful young lady. So welcoming and charismatic! He gave us the information on their Friday special, which was Kleftiko: a traditional Greek dish of slow-roasted lamb with potatoes and vegetables. Slow-roasted for six hours. I thought my friend and I agreed to share it and get another dish as well but she wanted her own. Lol so here is what we ordered: Kelftiko - 2 orders lol - The meat was soooo tender! Same with the potatoes which had a nice texture and seasoning to it. The side salad was sooo fresh! Dolmathes: Grape Leaves Stuffed with Ground Beef, Rice, Tomato, Spices, Tzatziki *Vegetarian upon Request - This was surprisingly amazing! Such a simple dish but absolutely delicious. We enjoyed our meal with a bottle of Chianti wine. Both dishes were amazing. Their food is fresh and all made in-house. Because of this, their food gives off a home-cooked feeling and personal touch. The manager came over and said hello. After a short chat, he offered us a complimentary baklava: a rich and flaky layered pastry dessert made with thin phyllo dough, chopped nuts, and a sweet syrup or honey. Let me begin by stating that the service was absolutely fantastic! I wish I had these servers everywhere I went to eat. However, I have never paid so much money for dinner entrees that were such tiny protein portions. I didn't realize that in California we were currently living on restricted food rations. Let me tell you the experience... My wife's chicken kabob came to our table first. I was talking to another person in our group. When I looked at her plate a couple minutes after it arrived, I literally said to her, "Who did you give your other kabob too?" The response was "I didn't. That's all they gave me". I ordered the salmon, and when it arrived with a side of a Greek salad and a sliced cucumber, someone on the other side of me asked "What salad did you get?" My reply was, "I didn't order a salad I ordered the salmon entree." The response was "really, that's considered the entree?" Then I had to find the (maybe up 3oz) salmon buried under the "side salad" on my plate. This happened all around the table as people were getting their food. We were all kind of in disbelief of what they were serving for diner. At $34+ for "entrees" which consist of a of low cost salad or low cost rice with 3 ounces of protein, I really don't think anyone in our group will ever come back. We usually don't venture out to 2nd Street, Belmont Shore to often because there's just isn't any where to park. But today, we were craving Greek food and what better place to have Greek food was none other than George's Greek Cafe. My family and I decided last minute to go to George's Greek for dinner. I was worried that we're not going to find parking and then we would have to wait for our table because our son is in the spectrum. Sometimes waiting is not ideal. Well we got lucky with parking and when we checked in with the host, she was so nice and brought us in to our table right away. Our server was great! She checked in on us every now and then to make sure we were doing good. I always order the chicken spinachi and it was delicious as I remember it being. My favorite thing about this dish is the spinach and feta baked together and then topped on a chicken. Just the combination it's so good! I will continue ordering this dish for as long as we go there. My husband enjoyed his salad and my son enjoyed his chicken fingers. There aren't enough stars for this review so I'm stuck with 5. This Greek restaurant is simply the best, best, best! It is consistently great and never disappoints. So many of their dishes are delicious but their lamb chops are of course a MUST and our favorite. I always order them well done (please don't hate me for it) and they are always absolutely perfect. They also know how to prepare Saganaki (Flaming Cheese OPA!) which you can never just assume a greek restaurant knows how to prepare. Trust me, they don't but George's does! Their fresh Greek salad and dressing is another favorite! And last but not least, order a bottle of their Greek wine which is also not available in many Greek restaurants (totally astonishing to me but true!) Another rare thing nowadays is finding an owner who is a grateful and appreciative to see you! Nicky is a delight with a fantastic personality! You can tell how well she treats her staff who is also very friendly and attentive, especially our favorite server Sara! So what are you waiting for? OPAAA! Food here was fantastic! The Lamb chops were super juicy and had a good amount of meat. My salmon had this yummy seasoning, with creamy feta and spinach on it that gave it some extra flavor! I loved the appetizer combo because of all the variety, you really get a little taste of everything which is perfect if you're indecisive like me haha. Top Tier service. Our waiter was polite and helpful. He went over the whole menu because this was our first time! Our glasses were never empty, everyone was very accommodating. And we got a free Baklava as new customers, so nice! The inside was very nice. They have a full bar, downstairs and upstairs seating. The space isn't huge but still felt open. It is street parking. Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes but this was the worst Greek food we've had to date. We had the falafel wrap with Greek salad and the gyros wrap with Greek salad. We were served the soggiest salads ever but we were so starved that we ate them. The falafel was mush and my husband said the gyro was just okay. Awesome place on second street. Decent prices and great staff. I have been here multiple times and always choose to sit outside in their patio. The food is good and especially ordering their saganaki is an experience. We normally don't go here for dinner but just order something to share and have a glass of wine or two.
