$20 for the steak frites after tax. Not a ton of steak, but for grass fed (and hopefully grass finished?) it was good. Delicious, tender, perfectly cooked steak. A little too heavy handed on the peppercorn but the sauce was excellent. The fries were good if a little thick for my taste and definitely too salty- I'd want them to lean into the herb next time. It's clean, bright, and stylish inside and the service was very friendly and quick. The mirror walls are a weird and disorienting decor choice but that's a tiny nitpick. I work down the street and came here for lunch. I've been to Urban plates one other time in Torrance and remembering it as not so good food. After eating the food here it's super good! I ordered the BBQ pork ribs ($25.99) and a cookie ($3.99) and there's a 1.5% surcharge??? And I added tip. My total lunch cost $36.99. The ribs were surprisingly good! The bones even come off the meat cleanly and easily! I would get the ribs again! The cookie was super disappointing. For $4, it tasted like a day old cookie. It was dry and brittle. I came Monday when the restaurant opened. It must of been Sunday's leftovers or something. Interior is nice and modern. Staffs were very friendly. Although I bookmarked the Brea location first, this Urban Plates (Long Beach) is the first one I tried. I came with my parents on New Year's Eve in 2023 (?). We didn't come that late, but I could tell by our fellow diners and the employees themselves that everyone was looking forward to going somewhere else for the actual festivities. I was expecting my parents to like this place. That was the goal. I expected to dislike it, or at least to tell myself I disliked it. But it grew on me in a strange way, like bathroom tile of a certain unusual shade of green. I don't remember what we ordered on that night, but I really enjoyed my dinner. My parents enjoyed theirs as well. I've since been with them on three or four occasions to the Brea location, so I'm much more familiar with the menu now. Although Brea has both more total seating and more varied seating locations, I prefer Long Beach's dining room. It's the perfect combination of chic and comfortable, and the big glass windows really make it feel special, like you're looking out onto the world. The service was excellent. You order at the front, and they bring your food out. They were doing a good job of cleaning tables immediately, but again, I have a feeling they were just trying to get everything done ASAP so that they could go get drunk for New Year's. read more

Staff finds you and brings your food out when ready. Being our first time here the staff at the register was super helpful and patient while we decided. Also a huge fan of their Chimichurri Grass Fed Steak plate which comes with 2 sides, their food is always so fresh. Their restaurant is very spacious with indoor and outdoor seating, I've always experienced attentive services when I dine-in. DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!!!!! After deciding to try to eat a little healthy today as I finished majority of my food there is nothing more refreshing and satisfying to see a giant maggot or worm that had been in my food!!!!!! This is supposed to be a clean establishment? What kind of processing and cleanliness could be existing here if you don't notice massive maggots or worms in your produce? How are you cleaning your produce before cooking and how are you inspecting the food before it's being delivered to clients! When I called to talk to a manager of course the manager isn't there when it's mid afternoon at 1:30 during lunch rush. Why wouldn't a manager be there to support their team and overlook their food handling processes, storage and decontamination processes from farm to table. The lady we spoke to only had to say that all the food is organic! Ok so because something is organic the pests that are in the food are part of the product I paid for that I want to eat and I should be ok eating? I spent the last 30 minutes puking my brains out at work trying to make sure that I don't get sick! Causing internal discomfort bleeding from the constant gagging and not to mention disruption at work having to step away to not only ruin my delegated lunch time, but not seek medical help. I am going to be escalating this not only to the BBB but the health department. This just shows you that there is lack of attention to details and pressure to push our food for quickness to fill orders and not following health standards and preventative measures to ensure this doesn't happen! This is unacceptable, and to think they didn't even offer to refund the cost of the food that we paid for???? Great service Urban Plates as you don't care about your customers experience, health and safety and ownership of issues. Brought the BFF to the Shops on 2nd after wine tasting on a Friday evening since we were close by & had never been. Was getting a little hungry and was trying to decide where to eat with the limited amount of restaurants in this shopping center and came across this place. I am not a big fan of order at the counter types of restaurants but I get the concept is pretty popular with such places as Woodfire Grill, Lemonade, Corner Bakery, to name a few...anyway, I ordered the grilled chicken breast plate with mac n' cheese and brussel sprouts. My BFF ordered the grass fed steak plate with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The portion sizes are perfect (not too small, not too big) but the food was lacking flavor. My mac n' cheese was too watery and the chicken still had the skin on it but not crispy as it was Haisan style, which grossed me out. The chicken was also a bit overcooked as it was rubbery in some pieces. My friend liked his steak but he said overall it was lacking flavor. Their natural soda selection is nice, but also overpriced. Overall, we paid 52 bucks for two entrees and two drinks, which is pricey for an order at the counter type of place. Food quality is better than fast food, of course, but I'd rather frequent Corner Bakery instead. Service was great, though, and one of the managers asked us to rate the place on Google for a free oatmeal cookie. The cookie was good but super crumbly. I doubt I would patronize this location again, but perhaps willing to try another location. read more

This is the Urban plates at 2nd and PCH in Long Beach. There is plenty of parking on site. The parking garage if free for the first 90 minutes. Then after that it is $2 per hour. There is free street parking on the Marina side of the center. Urban Plates is Casual chain restaurant with a cosy, rustic and industrial vibe. Order at the check-in stand or from the QR code posted on your table. You can pretty much make your own plate with multiple protein choices including chicken, turkey, steak, shrimp or salmon. They have lots of sides to choose from such as mashed potatoes, a variety of veggies, french fries etc... Your plate includes 2 sides of choice and a slice of bread. They also have burgers, sandwiches, salads as well as yummy desserts, beer and wine. Lots of options to choose from. They have a self serve water station. Today i had the grilled steak which is cooked medium by default (pink in the middle). It comes cut in small slices. On the side i ordered the truffle fries and the garlic parmesan mushrooms. For the sauce i tried the Lemon Hollandaise for the first time. The steak was tender but a bit chewy. I did not care for the lemon Hollandaise sauce and it did not pair up well with the steak. I recommend the Chimichuri instead which is my usual go to and my favorite. The garlic parmesan mushrooms and the truffle fries were really good. Prices are average and the staff is always very friendly and accommodating. I always have a good experience there. Great for a quick, tasty and casual meal anytime. My hubby had the blackened salmon with Hollandaise sauce and I had the grilled salmon with honey Dijon, which were both delicious! I had the roasted potatoes, very good and the side salad with Ranch. Hubs had the Caesar. The side salad is especially appealing to me cuz they put shredded jicama and pickled onions. My personal fave! We decided on outdoor seating, where there are fans and heaters, whichever is appropriate. Since the patio is on the east side of the building, it's usually nice outside. We shared a cowgirl cookie, which has oats, dried cranberries, shredded coconut, sunflower seeds, and hand-grated nutmeg and cinnamon. It has a unique delicious flavor. The bun was burnt and the burnt taste completely overpowered the flavor of the sandwich. Kind of bummed - my order at the Aliso Viejo location the last time I went was delicious and I was hoping my experience at this location would be the same. So, This place was DE-LISH-OUUUUSSSS! Our work group was stuck on a super important working lunch. We found Urban Plates when looking for a place that offered gluten free options for one of our coworkers. Our group ordered the following and here are our thoughts. The seared Ahi plate with Brussell sprouts with balsamic glaze and mashed potatoes with gravy. The Tuna was fresh and flavorful, the only critique was it could have been sliced smaller so that the chunks didnt steam the inside and cook it. The gravy maybe needed a little something, but overall they loved their meal. The Brussels were super yummy! The turkey avocado sandwich with gluten free bread. Parmesan Truffle fries and gluten free chocolate chip cookie.....This coworker danced while eating this! Lol....she absolutely loved all of it. The bread was toasty and crunchy.....the club sandwich and avocado inside ingredients were super fresh and properly seasoned. The truffle fries were well seasoned and really delicious. She used the aioli and was so excited this place for being so considerate for those that cant eat gluten and be able to have such a delicious meal. The chimichurri steak with mashed potatoes and gravy and the mushrooms in garlic parmesan butter.- This was delicious.....id say foe a critique, the steak portion was a but small and the meat a bit hard to cut... either a better cut or harder sear or cook, but if that were fixed it would be phenomenal. The chimmichurri sauce and mashed potatoes and mushrooms were soooooo good. The gravy needed either salt or something to really compare to the potatoes themselves, they were so good, the gravy didnt do anything for them. A little something extra, not sure what, may fix that. The burger and fries.....so this order was a double bacon burger, no cheese cheese.......Regular French fries. The burger was well cooked and juicy and flavorful the fries cooked and seasoned well. Another coworker got the chocolate vanilla cake and they were in a cake heaven! The dragon fruit drink was also ordered and nothing but praises. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst experiences I have had in quite some time. I wonder if this company has new management or new ownership? I have been here several times and it's usually delicious with lots of options. Today, was like a portal into another dimension. Lots of items weren't gluten free, despite being able to order them on a gluten free bread..... which is quite disorienting. Sides are not easily interchangeable. I spent an absurd amount of money on a half a sandwich that I picked apart and it looked disgusting. The bread was raw and spongey despite being charred, the "grilled chicken" was prepackaged chicken that was tough and I only took a few bites, the weird tomato and aoli situation was oily and off putting. I have had FAR better airport food. The fries were the only tasty thing but I was warned they may be cross contaminated with other glutenous things they cook. I honestly left with a stomachache. My friend's burger on gluten free bread was equally as sad. We were picking things apart and it was a mess. The cashier and server were kind. But, the food was a complete disaster.
