    Galata/ Assorted Appetizers

So happy I came here with my friends for my birthday!!! I have seen this place over and over on Yelp because of the reviews, so I really wanted to try it and it didn't disappoint at all! It is very casual, a modest little restaurant on 2nd street, but it's probably the most authentic food you'll find on 2nd street as well. Everything was so incredibly flavorful and delicious. We started with the Galata mixed appetizer, so good!! It comes with A LOT! I loved all of the dips and the dolmas and babagonoush were excellent (which are always two of my favorite dishes). We got the beef and lamb doner which was to die for. Honestly. Great meat, seasoning was on point. I loved it. 10/10 We also ordered this chicken dish from a clay pot that was soooo good. Amazing depth of flavor too. 9.5/10 The waitress recommended the last skewer and it was delicious. Would definitely order again 10/10z We finished with pomegranate tea which everyone loved. It truly was a delicious dinner. I will bring more and more people here to enjoy the beautiful food. Everyone was absolutely so nice to us, I can't recommend this restaurant enough!

Food: 4/5, first time ordering take out from this place and it was delicious. We order the meal for two and it was way much more than we expected. The lamb was good as well as the filet, chicken and gyro. The humus was really good as well! Service: staff was very friendly when I came in to pick up my order. Ambiance: very cute and modern.

This was my first time trying Galata and I had a wonderful experience! The food is delicious and the service is even better! We started with falafel and Ottoman Sherbet Tea, then we ordered the chicken doner plate and lamb/beef doner plate. We ended the night with pomegranate tea and a Turkish dessert (I don't remember what it was called). Everything tasted amazing but I highly recommend the falafel and ottoman tea. The restaurant itself is so cute and I love the decor and table settings. The staff is very friendly and definitely made us want to come back. If you haven't been here yet I suggest you try it out!

The most juicy and moist kebab I have ever had. The babaganoush was smokey, citrus-y, nicely spiced and an exceptional texture served with hot pita. Even the rice was fluffy, savory and memorable. After dinner, we walked nextdoor to have Turkish ice cream and Turkish coffee. It was a wonderful night. The service was FANTASTIC! The owner came over to greet us and ask us how we liked everything. Felt like family. We were well taken care of even to the point of the waiter lowering the sun screen because he could see the setting sun was starting to get in our eyes. I highly recommend everyone check this place out before the secret gets out and it becomes so popular that it is hard to get in.

a regular here and I've tried various different meals here and you can't go wrong with anything you pick. Everything is really good. Because I am a regular I have often recieved free tea or even free baklava once. They are very sweet towards their customers. The atmosphere and decor is such a cute vibe. It's authentic turkish food. The owners and cooks are all turkish. I highly recommend!

One of my best experience at a middle-eastern establishment in LA. I had the lamb kabob with rice and salad. The richness of the flavor lingered longer than the meal, and the service was impeccable. I was even inspired to purchase a Turkish lamp from the adjacent store with the same owner.

Dolmas, red pepper dip (complimentary, thank!), falafel, taboulleh

Wow. Just wow. What an outstanding, warm, and tasty experience. This is not some restaurant you come to dine at. This is coming home to eat dinner with family you haven't seen in too long. Trust me. These people are good people. They have such kind energy and run this place with love. I will protect them at all costs now. "You don't turn your back on family." - Dom Toretto No, we don't Dom. It felt like these guys rolled out the royal carpet for us. I didn't understand what we did to deserve it, but I decided to not question them and lean into their royal treatment. Our royal feast consisted of dolmas, falafel, hummus, baba ganoush, and taboulleh. They also provided us with complimentary red pepper dip simply because there are good people in this world and some of them run this restaurant. Thank you for that. EVERYTHING was excellent! I could get in depth about each individual dish and try to spell out all of the nuance, rank them, yada yada, blah blah. Simple: - Everything was a 10 out of 10, both food and service - TOP 3 dolmas I have ever eaten in my entire life - TOP 3 falafel I have ever eaten in my entire life - I want to say they bake their pita fresh, in house. If that soft, fluffy, pillowy, delightful pita somehow came from a supplier, this might then be the greatest Pita supplier in the continental United States. Unfortunately, I can't become a regular because I don't live in Long Beach. However, they're going to see me again. That's a guarantee. Thanks for the lovely meal and service today guys!

Cute spot with the pink exterior on Belmont shore. The highlight was the fresh and pillowy pita. I was very nicely given 2 extra falafels with my falafel mezze plate, but there was nothing particularly remarkable about the plate - solid B. My friend got the chicken skewers, which was not to his preference when served "rotisserie" style, but the staff were nice enough to bring back another serving of chicken in the usual "kebab" style. Service was a little inattentive but friendly. A big bonus was the free sample of delicious pomegranate tea! There is a sister property with Turkish style ice cream which was very interesting texturally. I liked the pistachio. There is a lot of potential here, but the food needs some more finesse.

This place has such nice Turkish decor with all its unique cool beautiful decorations and very cozy atmosphere. It's also a lot more intimate and not too noisy from the outside. The complimentary pita and oil was amazing. We got the galata salad, which was very good and refreshing. The mixture of greens, date and feta cheese was great. We got the lamb and beef doner plate. The meat was very tender and they were very descriptive with the different variety of sauces. While super tender, it was not as seasoned as well as I would have liked. The char and tenderness was there but the flavor left a bit much to be desired. The Turkish tea was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely come back here to try their other dishes.

So fun and delicious! The ice cream is thicker than milk ice cream. But not thick like body lotion.

Great place!! I ordered the beef donor wrap, suppper yummy and the chicken wrap super delicious! Great hospitality, and the ambiance is really relaxing with Turkish music.

Along with the wonderful host (and I'm assuming owner), every moment spent at Galata Grill was an experience. I felt like I was on vacation in Turkey with the ambiance of the Turkish shops next door, the decor, the smells, and of course, the flavors! There was such an assortment of items and I loved each one. I'm a sucker for a good appetizer plate and I was not disappointed! I even made it my meal but had to get sides bc everything looked and smelled so delicious. The host and servers kept checking on our every need and gave several food recommendations. If he said to order the whole menu, I would've agreed. In time perhaps. I love the three shop trip to Turkey. I can't wait to see what other flavors and merchandise they have in store

We had plans to meet friends for dinner and decided to check out someplace close to home. We decided to show them Turkish food, plus it was an opportunity to check out Galata Restaurant, which is still relatively new (less than 2 years old). We were lucky to find street parking, but parking can be tricky in Belmont Shore on 2nd St; don't forget to check some of the public parking lots behind the main buildings too. The restaurant is not that big but is very bright and beautiful inside, with Turkish lights and mural paintings on the wall. Service was phenomenal, friendly, and attentive. We were offered generous refills of the delicious hot pita bread and dipping sauce of oil with sundried tomatoes. The Turkish tea, hot pomegranate tea, and fresh lemonade were also very good. The menu is extensive and prices are quite fair given the large portion sizes. We shared an appetizer sampler, and individually ordered various soups, salads, and grilled meats. Everything was extremely delicious and I was truly impressed with Galata! I really hope more people come to enjoy their amazing food and service!

The girl who helped us, likely the daughter, was incredibly helpful--so sweet, charming, and attentive. We had the IstanBowl and it was the best. Perfectly seasoned, tender meat packed with authentic Turkish flavor, paired with fresh, fluffy rice and crisp vegetables. Every bite was incredibly satisfying, with a great balance of savory richness and freshness. The sauces tied everything together beautifully, adding a creamy, tangy finish that lingered pleasantly on the palate. Everything was fresh, made to order, and served with a smile. The portions were generous, and every bite reminded me of the delicious food I've enjoyed in Istanbul. If you're visiting the food hall, do yourself a favor and stop here. Great food, wonderful people, and authentic Turkish cuisine at its best. I'll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an exceptional meal.

Ambiance (5/5): Although we didn't sit inside, it was super cute, with classy boho vibes. The restroom was clean and well-decorated (although, not gonna lie, I don't know how I felt about the big mirror facing the toilet). The outside patio area was airy, and although right by the street, I didn't find it unpleasant. Service (3/5): It was just so-so. They sat us down quickly, gave us our menus and checked on us maybe twice. It wasn't super busy, but we had to wait to ask for things like extra plates and water for our dog. Food Overall (5/5): Food was delicious. We got the beef shawarma lunch special and got fries for the side (extra charge) and also the chicken shawarma lunch special with the hummus side. Beef Shawarma (4/5): It had a nice toasty flavor, perhaps from the spices, and the pickled veggies really complemented it. My only complaint was that I wish it had a bit more of the white sauce (maybe adding more hummus would have helped). It was also strangely a bit watery, maybe from the veggies. Overall, it was still a yummy wrap. Chicken Shawarma (5/5): The chicken shawarma tasted more balanced to me overall. I don't recall the meat being dry, although I did also slather it with a bit of hummus. I thoroughly enjoyed this wrap. Fries side (5/5): Their fries are made in house and it tastes so fresh. It was crispy on the outside yet still gooey and moist on the inside. I'm not sure if they make their own ketchup too, as it looked clumpier and tasted really fresh too. The kids gobbled this up. Hummus and pita (5/5): It came with a generous amount of both hummus and pita. The hummus was well flavored and blended, and it really complemented everything on the table. The pocket pita bread was not what I had in mind (I'm used to thicker ones), but the kids really loved it overall. Ice cream (4.5/5): We ordered two scoops from the dessert menu. They were both really thick, creamy and almost chewy like liquidized mochi. It was a very interesting texture but nonetheless a nice tasty treat on a hot day. I much preferred the vanilla bean, as the pistachio tasted and looked rather artificial (and I'm a pistachio ice cream lover). This place had so many to-go orders during the afternoon we were there. I can see why. Food is super fresh and tasty. I think we will be back the next time we are visiting.
