I gave Pita Pitaki in Signal Hill several chances because my first visit was genuinely good. The first time I stopped in, I ordered a salad, everything was correct, the food was good, and the restaurant looked clean, organized, and well maintained. That first experience is what made me come back. On my second visit, I ordered the same salad with chicken and lamb because I wanted that same experience again. When I got back to work, I realized the chicken was missing. I did not complain because I still had the lamb and the rest of the salad, and I understand that mistakes happen. Still, it was disappointing because I specifically came back wanting the same complete meal I had the first time. On my third visit, I drove from Gardena to Signal Hill specifically for that salad. After driving back to Gardena, I realized there was no dressing in the bag. I called the restaurant and explained what happened. I was told, "I'm sorry." At first I accepted that, but then I thought, what am I supposed to do with a salad with no dressing? I called back because I wanted to know what could be done. I was told that if I wanted my money back, I would have to bring the salad back to the restaurant. That meant after already driving from Gardena to Signal Hill and back, I was expected to make another trip because of something the restaurant forgot. When I explained that I was disappointed with how the situation was being handled and that I planned to leave a review, the woman on the phone responded, "All this for a dressing?" That comment bothered me more than the original mistake. Yes, it was dressing, but that misses the point. This was already the second time something had been left out of my order. The first time, I let it go. This time, the missing item affected the whole meal. What I would have appreciated was simple customer service. Acknowledge the inconvenience and make an effort to keep the customer. Something as simple as, "We apologize. Unfortunately, we cannot refund you without the food being returned, but on your next visit we will make sure we take care of you," would have completely changed the experience. Even offering a drink next time or simply saying they appreciated my business would have shown that they cared. I also tipped on my takeout order because I believe a tip is a way of showing appreciation for good service and attention to detail. I understand that a tip does not guarantee perfection, but it was disappointing to tip and still receive an incomplete order. There was also something I observed during this visit that concerned me. Someone spilled a drink, and one of the cooks helped clean it up. He wiped the floor while wearing gloves and, from what I could see, appeared to keep the same gloves on when returning to food preparation. That made me uncomfortable. I would have expected the gloves to be changed before handling food again. To be fair, the restaurant itself looks clean, organized, and well maintained. The tables, chairs, counters, and furniture appear to be in good condition. That is one of the reasons I kept giving this place another chance. I wanted to like Pita Pitaki. After my first visit, I thought it might become one of my go to places. Unfortunately, I never really got that same full experience again. My first visit was good. My second visit was missing the chicken. My third visit was missing the dressing, followed by customer service that made me feel like my concern did not matter. You can have good food and a clean restaurant, but customer service still matters. Sometimes how a business handles a mistake matters more than the mistake itself. My advice for anyone ordering takeout here is simple. Double check your order before you leave. Open the bag and make sure you have everything, especially meats, sauces, and dressing. First time here. What an amazing food and experience! Lamb burger was so good that I swallowed it in seconds! The burger was well done, and I do prefer the lamb burger to be well done. Delicious till the last bite. For the first time I had to add salt to my food, and I usually don't. That should tell you how good of a quality the meat and ingredients are. This spot is in a small plaza on the corner of Cherry and Wardlow. There is a small parking lot but very limited and always packed so find parking in the neighborhood. First time coming here, I was looking for something healthy and they had that option I ordered the salmon plate, but all salad and my friends ordered a Gyro wrap and moussaka I was surprised at how huge the salad was. It was perfect and it was cool cause it also came with a grilled vegetable skewer and they have this house specialties like hot sauce and that was amazing. We've always enjoyed the food here and how everything was freshly made. However, this last visit was a miss. We tried the Lemon Chicken, Chicken Kabob Plate and the Gyro. The Lemon chicken was so overcooked and beyond dry and the veggie kabob that comes with the plate was cold. The Chicken kabob was on the dry side as well. The chicken dishes all tasted like they were reheated. The Gyro was still good and plentiful. All the plates were plentiful. First off I love a place that welcomes you as you walk up and asks if you have any questions and makes suggestions. The woman at the counter was so warm and friendly telling us her favorites and I wish I had gotten her name because she deserves all the recognition for great customer service. We got the Pitaki Ap'ola which is a combo plate of almost all their meats, with potatoes and salad. The plate is $37 and could feed 4 people. It was just me and my boyfriend and we have enough leftovers to have it for dinner again tomorrow and then some. Great deal for such a good portion. The restaurant itself is small and tucked into a little strip mall that surprisingly had good parking. Cute quaint little spot. They had a steady stream of people eating in and picking up take out. Came here as a friend's recommendation. Her husband is from Cyprus and shares that his place is the most authentic Greek he had. It is a small Togo like eatery with some tables to sit. To my surprise, it is the first time I probably had Greek food, because most places that advertise as Greek or Mediterranean, don't cook pork! This place has pork gyros! Friend enthusiast and friendly staff. With interesting items I never had before. I tried the rice lemon soups and spanakopita. Comforting rice soup with chicken and rice paired with toasted bread. The spankopita served with Greek herbs and feta cheese. We ordered the lemon chicken plater and the chicken gyro plater. Mine came with rice, veggie skewer and Greek salad while other plate had herb potato and Greek salad. On the had their roasted eggplant dip. Flavors are amazing and cooked to perfection. Really disappointed because the food at Pita Pitaki was actually very good overall. The pita, meat, and other dips in the 5-dip platter tasted fresh and flavorful. Unfortunately, the babaganoush was clearly spoiled -- it had a sour/off taste that was definitely not normal. What made the experience worse was the response from the restaurant. After bringing it up, they only offered a $2 credit despite the fact that part of the meal was inedible and potentially unsafe. Mistakes happen, but I expected them to take it more seriously. The portions here are amazing and the price is so reasonable. $12 for the gyro itself (and the amount of meat is INSANE!) and you can make it a combo for $4 extra (your choice of salad or fries plus a drink). Regardless of who is greeting you at the register, they are always so friendly and happy to take your order. The food comes out in a really decent amount of time. The restaurant isn't the largest, but it has ample seating for your lunch or dinner needs. We chose carry out in order to eat at home and after a 20 minute drive the food was lukewarm and delicious to say the least. The gyros were not soggy from the sauce at all, the flavors joined together well.
