I have been to George's Pizza several times. The pizza is great with lots of unique varieties to choose from. The other food options are just okay. I would definitely go back for the pizza. The restaurant is right across from Peanut Pub, which is a great place to get a drink and have George's delivered. George's restaurant itself is dark, cold in the Winter and hot in the Summer, not the best atmosphere. Overall, George's is a great place to grab a bite to eat for a small town. read more

Wandered downtown Pella in hopes of grabbing a Pizza. Wasn't sure if they were open since the website said closed but discovered we could order a pizza at the coffee counter. Cashier was very friendly, helpful, and patient. We had a large chicken ranch pizza. Delicious! Crust was excellent, crunchy on the edges. Yum. This pizza is delicious! I crave this sometimes and can't find anything else quite like it. I love the crust. My favorite is the vegetarian pizza and Greek salad. (I haven't tried anything but salad and pizza). I would have given 5 stars but the service isn't always the best. I took a friend there and the waitress who took our order never brought it to the cooks, we found out much later. But the people making the food know what they are doing. I recommend take-out. I came back here again with a friend and it brought back memories. This was my first dinner the night before I interviewed at my job. Well, the place was pretty packed with people but luckily we arrived early. I had the greek gyro salad which was perfect. It had olives, feta cheese, nice generous tomato slices as well as cucumbers. There were some gyro slides too but not overwhelming. I also liked that the sauce was on the side too. There were some pita bread which was just the right texture and warmth. My wife and I ventured over to Pella on a Friday night and wanted to try George's Pizza. It was PACKED and at first, was a bit frustrating. No hostess at the table with a long line of people waiting. The one lady who did end up seating us was running around doing 2-3 other jobs. Not sure if they were short-staffed, but it is what it is. Because once the food came, we really didn't care about any of that. It was SO GOOD! My wife ordered some spicy chicken pasta, I ordered a steak. (Seriously, a 9oz steak for $11 is tough to beat). Both were amazing. Our waitress was outstanding and very knowledgeable about the menu. We had some questions, and she answered them. George's has seating in the coffee shop next door, which at first was weird, but my wife ordered a fancy coffee and it made our experience better. It was actually pretty quiet on the coffee shop side, which made our experience a little better. And the service wasn't sacrificed one bit. There was a little confusion about how to pay the bill. We had to go back next door and pay at the register. Our waitress never told us. I had to ask a lady bussing dishes. When I got up to pay, the line was going two different ways, which was again, frustrating. They offer a free ice cream cone after your meal, which is really cool. Worst service.. I called before 8pm, they close at 9pm and was told to order delivery I have to go online! What happen to service. What happen to being old school. How hard is it to take an order? Oh, that's right they use a third party delivery service! Which I didn't find out until it was too late. When I called the first time to place an order the female who answered didnt say anything about time and was young so probably not a thinker lol she's the one that told me I had to order online. Go online, it's not even working, can't place an order, it's not taking any info. I've been going to Pella for nearly a decade now (my husband's extended family lives here) but this last trip brought me my first George's take out. Pizza was ready on time and reasonably priced for the area. I really enjoyed the crust & the sausage (edge pieces for me!). Parking can be a pain on a busy night but that's the same issue anywhere downtown on a busy evening. The new decor is a definite improvement from their old location, I am told. read more

We received our appetizer and drinks in a timely; however, we waited an extraordinarily long time for our main entrees which we never received. Also, they have an ice cream machine out front and I'm not quite sure if it's free or what the deal is with it... But overall it was a good dinner. I came into Pella for the night and was looking for a good local place. Upon the recommendation of the hotel staff I placed a to-go order here. Dear sweet Jesus was this a great restaurant! The Duchess Burger was amazing and most importantly the bun wasn't soggy by the time I got back to the hotel. The burger tasted just like it came off the grill! Had seen this place during Tulip Time but was crowded. The Wife and I decided to come back and we did. Drove from Des Moines to try George's Pizza out. First off it's like a pub noise is loud that's the one thing I didn't like, otherwise impressed. They serve Homemade pizzas , steaks , sandwiches and pasta dishes. They have Greek food on the menu which I definitely do like. And yes appetizers, go for the cheese curds simply delicious. We ordered Rib eye. You have a choice of baked potato or fries. Salad or cottage cheese and it comes with a salad and bread. House dressing is highly recommended, a garlic butter creation that is smooth and creamy. Steaks are thin sliced ordered medium rare, and when it arrived was cooked perfectly and topped with mushrooms as we ordered. We spent around fifty on dinner and it was worth it, they have cheaper items on the menu, and if you do decide to go , come early as they fill up fast. My mom and I visited this restaurant during Tulip Time. The pizza was delicious, but the service was pathetic. I understand it was busy, but our waitress, although nice, rarely visited our table. At 9:30, 30 minutes before the restaurant closes, employees began stacking chairs around us while staring at us. Feeling uncomfortable, we decided to leave. When we went to pay, which you do up front, we were rudely greeted by a woman I assumed was the owner's wife. She acted as if we're bothersome, making a snide comment about us being one of the last people out of the restaurant. For reference. It was clear from the way other employees acted around her that she is like that with everyone. As someone who worked in retail, I understand the struggle of an extremely busy day. However, that does not give one an excuse to treat employees and customers as nuisances. To say this is a well run business doesn't even do it justice! We were in in a Friday night and "walked in" with 8 people to a totally packed and overflowing into the patio restaurant. We were met with a smile and sat within 10 minutes. Our beverages came within 5 minutes and a smile delivered them by the Owner who was expediting to help a very hard working wait staff-I saw some of them trotting to get people covered and food to the tables. We placed our orders with appetizers, pre entree salads and entrees and we served in that order without everything getting stacked on the table at once. We were able to enjoy each part of the meal-perfectly cooked from pasta dishes-burgers-pizza with more than enough comfort ability to not feel rushed.
