Cheap and fresh produce! They have bags of fruits/veggies for $1 which is crazy cheap. And, they have a section of dried fruit/nuts/gummies which I always love looking at. Have bought their hot and spicy asian peanuts, fried green peas, and banana chips. Those bags are waaaaaay cheaper than other grocery stores and yummy as well. ...am tempted to buy their flowers cause they're pretty and super cheap but can't trust myself to take good care of them. Always passed by this place but decided to stop by. To my surprise, quite a number of people inside! Interesting mix of Latin, Asian, America, Middle Eastern foods. Produce and fruit were fresh and inexpensive. 3 grapefruits was only 99 cents, bag of kiwis only $1, 3 lb bag of organic apples $1.49! Next time I'll have to try one of the cheeses! A true gem of great produce and bulk items! Being born and raised in El Monte, I can't believe I've just ventured in yesterday. Maybe it's 'cause I've just moved back and was looking for something just like this. =) This store carries a good variety of fresh fruits and veggies, including stuff that you wouldn't expect, like kale! And pretty much everything looked fresh and they seem to circulate the produce well and the entire store is pretty clean. And the busy employees are so friendly and helpful. And since the prices are so great, it really makes you want to try everything! It also carries a variety of ethnic foods including Middle Eastern, Asian, and Mexican items. There were great spices, nuts, quinoa, lentils, and roasted soy nuts! Just among the very many that impressed and excited me! Do yourself a favor and check it out. I wouldn't say George's is a one stop shop for all your grocery needs, but what they do carry is outrageously priced low and stocking up on spices, grains, and produce keeps you coming back for more. I came here on a Saturday during thanksgiving weekend. Maybe it's just me but I found the selection to be what was in season and the quality just so so (it's slightly worse than a Ranch 99). The most disgusting and rude owners ever! I came in with my mom and niece and noticed one of the employees literally putting her hand into her pants and picking her butt. I noticed her do this 3 times before I finally couldn't take it and went to confront her. I went and asked her and another heavier woman at the cash registers and I confronted her about what she did and asked if she touches the produce at all and all hell broke loose, her and the owners were extremely rude and the owner came out and said "I don't care I dig in my butt all day" with extremely rude profanity and stuck his hand into his pants and touched his butt. I've never seen such disgusting, unprofessional and worst common courtesy towards customers in any place I brought my business to. We've been customers for years and years and now i will never come back. You guys are disgusting people and deserve the worst karma. If I can leave negative stars I would. Been going here for 20 yrs during holidays for my produce from San Gabriel to this spot. Off the beaten path so I don't go often. I went a month ago and bought the usual stuff including the chili mango. Well this time it was bad...tasted moldy. I kept the bad food for when I was going in the area...I went today and they laughed at me and would not replace the bad product they sold me. 6 lousy dollars is going to keep me from ever going again! Stupid customer service from an arrogant person who thought I was trying to get over on her. I love this place! There's a selection of Middle Eastern, Greek, Latin, among other ethnic and specialty foods. There's a large variety of healthy snack items, raw (also prepared roasted and or salted) nuts and seeds. They have a variety of cheeses that I don't think they sell at the supermarket, at least at these prices. I've been meaning to go again but I've been so busy; they are the only place I know of that sells large grain salt. read more

Their prices are amazing. Most of the fruits have slight blemishes, thus explaining the price, but they're still good. They sell bags full of plums and other fruits and veggies for $1 a bag! They also have cheeses, spices, herbs, dried fruits and nuts. I bought a block of feta for $3 a pound, which is a pretty good deal in my opinion. They're closed on Sundays and Mondays, and they also close by 6pm on the days that they're open. I took a picture with my phone of their store hours sign because my mother and I have come here a few times only to find out they're closed. read more

I love this place for all my veggie needs...they even have large dollar bags of fruits and veggies all the time (make sure you check them over)..you can tell it's local produce, fresh and it seems like they are always putting new food out. I love this little store. They sell spices, grains, beans, and nuts by the bulk. Also they have awesome $1 deals. Usually it's produce that's in season that is ready to be consumed in the next couple of days. Also they carry pita bread and some other middle eastern and Asian treats. Only downside is their hours. Usually closed by the time I get home from work and Sunday's which is when I usually like grocery shopping. read more

This is a great place for organic produces as well as. Grains breads and an assortment of other things that u could find at a neighborhood market. Prices are so low I come here for my produce and this place is almost 4 miles away and I live within walking distance of an Albertsons. The only thing I dislike about this place it's that the are that the place is not very cool so the produce is warm, not bad just warm. So I take it home wash it in cold water then refrigerate. Usually the stuff I get I use within a couple days so I'm going to frequent this place I'd suggest/ recommend this place to anyone that would like to save some money on foods that grow from the earth. read more

Use to buy some of my produce, but for the past 2 years it's changed for the worse. Picked up 2 pineapples for $1 ask the clerk if fresh he replied all the produce if fresh. We have been a customer there for a very long time until recently. They just lost a loyal customer due to the owner and her unfriendly manner dealing with us. A dispute over a small debit transaction that they ran 2x (once by mistake bc of their machine) and couldn't just refund that amount to us even though we showed her proof from our bank statement & attempting to clear it several times with the market (since June 2nd). We still shopped there after the incident until actually speaking to the owner. When meeting with her she was rude. Instead of saying something like I know you come here weekly, can I just give you credit for that amount and I'll figure it out later....? -but she couldn't, she has no customer appreciation and even told me to "chill out." You know, we're all about customer service and that little bit just ruined it for me. Word of advice to the owner, don't treat your customers like crap, after all, we are working hard for our money just like you & we choose to spend it where we want. I had two young boys in tow so I didn't have much time to comb over the shelves but I was impressed with the quality and prices of the produce. I've been looking for a place like this every since Dogwoods Market closed in Monrovia. It's a bit of a drive for me but well worth it. Loving the $1/bag specials. Can't beat it. They also carry number dried specialty grains and health food staples like quinoa and chia seed. Service was great too.
