George is an extremely personable, knowledgeable, and efficient worker with several decades of experience in this field. He not only fixed a broken tube behind my refrigerator but explained how we needed to clean and maintain circulation in the condenser area behind it to avoid this problem in the future. Then he fixed a small motor where rust had caused the ice dispenser to malfunction, as well as cleaning out the ice chute with heat and tools. He had lots of great appliance maintenance tips which he gave out generously as he was leaving. And his prices were reasonable too. Based on the reveiws I read on Yelp, I called George this morning at 10:30am and he was here at nooon. The Whirlpool people could not get here before next Tuesday! I had another refrigerator repair company scheduled to service my Fridgeaire side-by-side, but we had some confusion and missed each other (they were going to charge $65 diagnostic right off the back). We called George when our refrigerator stopped working. He came, same day, and noted that the compressor needed replacement. As the compressor's warranty had expired a week earlier, he suggested we call GE to see if they would still honor the warranty. If not, he recommended purchasing a new appliance as the repair would be approximately $800. He left without charging us for the call. Gave George's Refrigeration a call on a Tuesday morning. We discussed the problem for a little while and it was obvious what the issue was. They said they would get the parts and come by on Wednesday. All is good, right? I didn't hear from them so I gave them a call at about 2pm. After speaking with them again, it was clear they had forgotten about us but they totally made up for that by scheduling us within a few hours. Once they got here, they had the part and made short order of repairing the refrigerator. Everything is cool again... Run like the wind. I read the reviews and specifically reached out to George based on Yelp reviews. First he never heard of my fridge and couldn't get the part. Fine I understand that. So I call around and get the part ordered myself. The part comes to my house. He shows up, late, and then tells me he wants me to run the fridge for 24 hours before he installs. This after he asked me to call once I get the part. So he replaces the part. It continues to act up and still freezing my fridge. My house is a rental so I ask George to set some time up with my tenant. He says he will call in 48 hours. I call my tenant 5 days later to make sure it resolved and he tells me no word from George. He's gone. I call him and he tells me he is busy. I'm okay with him being busy what I'm not okay with is the expectation that I set with my tenant that he was calling. So today I have no fridge fixed, an upset tenant and repair man that tells me I'm not a priority. ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK. read more

I have used George a couple times in the past and it was a positive experience. I had his card on my fridge but after this last experience it is going in the trash. My fridge stopped working Wednesday morning. I did some troubleshooting and went to work. Called george when I got home. He said let me see what I can do to get out there tonight. No call back or anything that evening. Call him Thursday afternoon and he asks me to call him when I get home. He says something like traffic is really bad, I am 3.2 miles away, you don't even need to get on a highway. Needless to say I contacted someone else this morning who came out this afternoon and fixed my fridge. Water leaked from the back of my 7-year old Frigidaire refrigerator and I called George. He came out the same day, diagnosed that it was because of a broken plastic piece located in the back, and told me that he could order the part and get it the next day. I agreed and he arrived at an agreed time the next day and installed the part. And now my water dispenser works perfectly again. To make sure the plastic piece doesn't break again, George decreased the water pressure. Good price and perfect job! read more

George was very quick to answer and was able to see me on the same day. He was accommodating to my schedule and was willing to give me a call 45 min. before his arrival so I could leave work to meet him. He and his son worked quickly to assess the problem and gave me a clear description of what happened. He gave me some tips for the future so my compressor wouldn't overheat again--make sure you keep some space between the fridge and the wall people! As an added bonus he even fixed my ice maker which had been leaking in the back and causing the hardwood floor to buckle--a problem which another repairman was unable to fix. Not that there's any good time for a fridge to go out, but mine happened to stop running on Thanksgiving night - when it was packed with leftovers! To make matters worse, I accidentally ripped the water line when I pulled the fridge away from the wall to try and "fix" the problem myself that night (and had to turn the water off altogether). I called a few other places the next morning, but the earliest anyone could come out was that Monday - a wait of 3 full days. Luckily, after reading some Yelp reviews, I called George and left a message. He called me back a few minutes later and, despite living out of his service area (I live in Hyde Park), he agreed to come over as soon as he could. After arriving, he literally solved the problem in about 2 minutes (which was a power outage that knocked out my fridge's timer) AND fixed the water line. Total repair time (with the water line replacement) took him about 30 minutes or so - and he was very personable and pleasant the entire time! He charged me a very reasonable fee - which, coincidentally, was exactly equal to what the certified GE repair service was going to charge me JUST for coming out to LOOK at the problem (excluding labor and parts). He knew what was wrong (burned out circuit board), had the part in his truck, installed it and charged me a very reasonable price all within about 4 hours of calling him. I have a 10 yr old Whirlpool Gold refrigerator that began making noises about 3 months ago. I had no idea what the noise was & searched youtube videos to try to figure it out myself. Since the fridge & freezer were still working properly & since the noise stopped and started sporadically, I hesitated to call anyone because I didn't want to waste my money. Well, months after the noise first started, the fridge made another kind of noise I hadn't heard before and I honestly expected it to die by the next morning. I had no idea who to call, so I searched yelp for refrigerator repair. I found a few big companies, but decided to go with George's Refrigeration because of the reviews. I scheduled an appt with George for a Saturday afternoon just to take a look at the fridge & low and behold, the fridge was not making any noise when he came. Since there was no noise, George left and said he couldn't help - no charge. About 10 min later, the noise started again. I called George back to tell him about the noise and to mention that the partition between the freezer and fridge sometimes gets pretty warm. Without even looking at the fridge, George seemed to know what was wrong. I texted him a picture of the serial number/model info and made an appt with him for the following Monday, which happened to be the day of the blizzard. Even though there was a blizzard, he was still able to pick up the part I needed and replace it. The part I needed was a condenser motor fan, which cost about $130. Total cost including labor = $260. It took about 30 min to replace & afterwards, George even helped me check an electrical socket to see if electricity was running through it. It's been about 3 weeks now & no strange noises. Everything works well & I'm happy I didn't have to buy a new fridge. Another tip George shared: Clean the bottom grill area every year- actually take the plastic off & vacuum! I have never cleaned mine & when I finally did, the dust filled up almost half the vacuum's plastic canister! He could have charged me a service charge to come out to my place and give me the same advice but was kind enough to recognize the situation and not waste my time or money. George should be the first call you make if anything goes wrong with your appliances. My refrigerator broke down pretty late on a Sunday night and I called three places that supposedly had 24 hour emergency services that either didn't answer, or said they couldn't come out until tomorrow. Then I saw George's reviews and called him. He was at my place within 30 minutes, and had the parts my refrigerator ended up needing based on my description of the problem over the phone. He ended up having to replace 3 parts, rather than just the 1 he quoted me for, and he still ended up charging me the same price he quoted. He also was extremely knowledgeable and spent time explaining everything to me, and giving me really useful tips to maintain not just my fridge, but my other appliances and heating/cooling system as well. Good service but surprised by high (in my opinion) labor charge. We had broken dryer belt which costs $28 per the invoice.. I asked about the fee for a service call ahead of time... $50 which seemed ok.. However, the total cost was $150, which put his 45 minute visit at about $75 for labor. Long story short - I will never call anyone else again! George was fantastic, and he services almost all appliances.
