We really enjoyed our meal -- we both got the Carlisle stromboli and they were huge, full of toppings, and so good on this chilly night. I like the remodel which remains quirky but somehow nicer and more polished. The people working here are still super friendly. The only suggestion I have is to get some other type of plates as the ones we had were scored from knives and forks and had a shiny finish which seemed to reflect grease stains. read more

Been going here for 15 years and must admit, 15 years ago it was much better, but the Tuesday $2 a slice special keeps me coming back. Kitschy atmosphere could use a good deep clean front and back. Street parking and crowds can be difficult on weekend evenings. But all worth it for some pretty tasty pizza. read more

The food was bland. The service was awful! They got my husband's order wrong. They completely forgot about my daughter's order. When we finally asked about her food they asked if we ordered it. When we showed them our receipt with her food on it they didn't apologize. They just took forever to make it while most of the staff was standing around chatting. Solid local restaurant with typical subs, pizza, and appetizers. Ample seating for when we were there: 1:30pm ish. We got to sit at the bar facing the windows and watched the town as we waited and dined. Interior was clean enough and decorated with a variety of vintage photos from the area all throughout the 20th century. Menu is good but basic. There are options for most, even a veggie sub. Fountain drinks are a plus! Can't complain too much about anything at all. Food hit the spot and service was quick with hot food too. Great lunch or quick weeknight dinner spot. read more

We've always gotten the chili dogs and the New England ham and cheese subs. They are delicious, made well and worth the money. Tonight I thought I'd get something different and see what it was like. I got a Carlisle Stromboli, large. The price was over $20, and the size was less than 12 inches long and 4 inches wide. Very tiny compared to any other Stromboli we've ever gotten anywhere. So I definitely will not be getting Stromboli again from them. read more

We went there for dinner after going to a car show at the fairgrounds. We had pretty low expectations and they were not exceeded. We ordered a meat lovers pizza and a large meatball sub. The meat lovers pizza was very good. Lots of toppings and a good pan crust, albeit a little too greasy. They forgot about the sub and we had to wait for a while after the pizza arrived. I have eaten thousands of meatball subs and I have never seen anything quite like this one. The meatballs were ok, but there was very little sauce, very little cheese, and the whole thing was SMOTHERED in cut raw onions and shipped tomatoes. A soggy bun completes the ensemble. Bizarre. The cost was reasonable, but not a "blow me away" experience. College town, college dive, no beer on menu, not bad, but not great. Three stars. read more

I went here before the Halloween parade. I asked about the meatballs and if they were made in house. I was told by the woman behind the counter "they were not they're brought in" meaning frozen from a place like restaurant depot. Disappointing that they don't make their own meatballs. Maybe they don't sell enough. It seems like their New England style sandwiches are most popular. I ordered a single slice of their pan pizza along with the half size chicken Parmesan hero. The pizza slice was just OK. I see they use different style ovens to cook their pizza than a traditional New York pizza place. This is where the pizza goes into the oven on a conveyor belt. Maybe it's better to cook deep dish pizza this way. The fresh roll used for my chicken Parmesan hero was very good. However there were raw onions on top of the sandwich along with chunks of tomato which I liked. But I didn't care for the raw onions. The chicken in my sandwich was not a chicken Parmesan breast but chunks of chicken It tasted to me like the chicken inside the sandwich was frozen product. Perhaps they're New England style subs are better. But I found my pizza slice and half chicken Parmesan sub to be disappointing. Customer service was adequate. read more

George's Subs have gone up in price by $3 to $4 , inflation. Philly Cheese steak was OK. The home made roll was too soft for me and so was messy as it broke apart. The fries are $6.75 wow! At this price I thought the portion would be very large, enough for two, and be fresh cut. They were neither, just Sysco frozen with a crunch coating. read more

The steak salad was very good, albeit it would have been excellent if they weren't out of Italian dressing. Not sure now this place for such good reviews. I will never be returning. Let's just recap what happened: My husband and I go to the counter to order. Not very welcoming. They have a fountain drink I've never heard of (some Pennsylvania birch beer). I ask her what it tastes like. Her response, "I don't know". Doesn't even offer for me to sample it, I have to ask for a sample. She gives me a tiny sample in a little clear cup thing that one would put ketchup in to go, then walks away. Then a little 10 year old brat comes to the counter. I call her a brat because she was rude the entire time she was "taking care of us". We order a pizza, then ask which Stromboli is the best on their menu. Her response, "I don't know" (common theme). So we place our order. A third girl comes to the counter. She rings us up. She was actually nice, which was surprising. So we take our seats and wait for our food. 30 MINUTES LATER we still haven't received anything. So I go up to the counter to ask. No one knows what's up with our order. They figure out that our order had been boxed to-go when we asked for dine in. But the order was wrong. We ordered the California Pizza but they had a plain cheese pizza. Nice. We finally get the right pizza about 15 minutes later (which sucked by the way, pretty sure the "chicken" was turkey). The whole experience here sucked. I guess I should have known better. As soon as you walk in, there's a mannequin standing with it's legs spread apart about 2 feet, arms dangling by it's side, hands open, IN MARINE DRESS BLUES. Always great food from George's. We had it delivered the gentleman that brought it was very polite the service was excellent.

George's use to be a reasonable value for what you bought, but that seems to have changed recently. I often get a tuna sub from George's, which used to have a very ample amount of tuna in it - it would be falling out the end of the sub. Now, there's barely enough tuna in the sub to taste it. A very thin layer of maybe 1/3rd what would be in it this time last year. It's not worth the $9.27 it comes out to, and is very disappointing given that these were the best tuna subs I had ever had. I really hope that management sees this post and makes a change, otherwise I wont be going back. The tuna sub just tastes like onions now, as did an Italian sub I got a while ago. Skimping on meat, while I get it, really takes away from the quality of the product. read more

New England style subs were awesome . I was a little skeptical at first because I hate the Patriots and anything Boston so I was ready to poo poo the sandwich immediately. The hot pepper relish and onions was blended perfect! The bread was more of a hotdog style roll but it has more substance that a hotdog roll. Disappointed in the New England style ham and provolone sub on soft roll I had from here. It was good on the relish,onion, and tomato, but the ham was a thin single layer as was the cheese. I should have ordered double meat. You could barely taste the meat in the sub. Again disappointed in the sub. Always have had good food until today. Been going here for years took my family there last night for dinner 21/21/2022 we walked through the door around 7:40 know they closed at at 8 as we walked to the counter to place our order we were greeted with an employee rolling her eyes and saying all my F-ING GOD I didn't feel my 12 and 10 year children should have had to see that! I love the taste of this pizza. It truly is delicious, no doubt about it. However, the wait can be insane here. My sister and I decided to stop in for a few "slices" of pizza for lunch and decided to dine in. The restaurant was not packed or slammed, but it took an HOUR for us to get two slices of pizza. Our fountain drinks were long gone by the time we got our food. I can understand if there is something going wrong in the kitchen, but when you hear the staff laughing and carrying on and letting the phone ring off the hook, you start to get annoyed. This place has the best pizza in town, easily. The crust is delicious, the toppings are great quality, and the sauce is one of my fav pizza sauces of all time. I always asked for extra. I will say though that I wouldn't come in to eat. The dining room is like a shrine to Jesus, and to say that makes me uncomfortable would be a gross understatement. Finally! Some good pizza in Carlisle. We can walk from our place which makes it even better. local place that has been there for some time. Busy place for a Tuesday night so we were hopeful on the quality. we weren't disappointed. Crust is fresh with just the right amount of crunch, good sauce and right amount of cheese. I could have used a few more pieces of pepperoni but good pie. It isn't a big place and most folks take out but we loved all the pictures of the locals on the walls. Service was even worst nobody greeted you.... waited 5 minutes before anyone even greeted us. I have eaten here possibly as many as thirty times in the last 12 months. Most of the time it has been a complete hit. The food is fresh, the prices are fair and the atmosphere is quaint. The staff changes over the last several months have been unfortunate but overall the food hasn't suffered too much. There was a guy in the back making subs before that was (to borrow a tag from subway) a true sandwich artist.... You could tell this kid really was trying to impress as each sub was made just so even when they were busy. I had my wife stop by recently to pick up lunch and it was obvious there was a new guy making my food. It was still good, don't get me wrong...but it was messy as hell....
