Beautifully designed new state of the art office puts you right at ease and the front desk staff makes you feel at home when you walk in the door. Everything was on time and it was an extremely professionally run office. Dr. Davis is highly skilled and very meticulous and always does a fantastic job; he has been my dentist all my life and I trust him completely. Diana, a dental hygienist, also did an amazing job. In fact the professionalism, courteousness, effectiveness, and friendliness (they're all so friendly!) of the whole team made me feel like family. I found the male dentist and the front desk staff very unprofessional. My first visit in 2021 I walked into the reception and the dentist was in his back office with the door open and his feet up on his desk. The entire vibe of the place was very "laid back". While I can appreciate a laid back environment, the two places I expect professionalism is a doctor's office and at the dentist. He was also coughing a lot while doing my exam (this was during the height of Covid). I got a call about a week later saying I was exposed to Covid from a staff member during that visit. The entire visit was extremely uncomfortable. I was told I had quite a few cavities and that I would likely need perio work/graphing done on my gums. I got two second opinions on my gums (which costed me additional) and was told that surgery was unnecessary. I felt a bit mislead by this dentist. Lastly, I did get the cavities filled, and 6 months later, was sent a $700+ bill stating my insurance did not cover most of the procedure. I had specifically asked for this to be confirmed prior to getting work done by their front desk and was assured it was mostly covered. When I called back to inquire about the massive bill, the receptionist was somewhat rude and not very helpful, basically requesting the money and leaving me to deal with it on my own. Would not recommend for many reasons...the top being unprofessional staff and misleading diagnosis and billing. read more

AVOID THIS DENTIST AT ALL COSTS! After a cleaning Dr. Davis claimed to find several cavities. I was foolish enough to let him fill one agreed upon cavity at which time he proceeded to drill numerous other cavities he did not mention to me. After I had not consented to this work he told me he found even more cavities and wanted me come in again. I was extremely insulted that he would run up a dental bill without my consent and then tell me I needed even more done. In hindsight this was incredibly unprofessional. I went to another dentist that I had grown up with because I didn't trust anything done at his clinic. They told everything he did was unnecessary, and he was making work for himself. In the meantime his office wouldn't stop calling me to schedule another appointment. A good sign that his schedule is generally wide open for a reason. If you are familiar with the podcast Dr. Death this dentist reminds me of Dr. Dench in hindsight. My sincere advice is to avoid his services. read more

Please dont go to this dentist. Here's my experience: I went there for a cleaning and he did a series of x-rays that shown several cavities, two poorly done crowns, etc. I showed those same x-rays to two other dentists and they seem to confirm the overall diagnosis. Two months after he treated tooth #2, which had a large cavity, and I had to do a root canal, and went to a specialist of root canals. He told me that Dr Davis left decay in front of the tooth and that was the reason WHY the tooth was hurting SO bad. However Dr. Davis never told me he left decay in front of the tooth, which was visible so he left it on purpose. I was before poor ethical handling so I had to sit down with another dentist and take new x-rays as I questioned his work. In the new X-rays, it shown 12 cavities, but smaller ones, pretty insignificant, and they didnt require an aggressive treatment like indirect pulp cap that leads to root canal later on. The x-rays that Mr. Davis provided me to show to other dentists to check for 2nd opinion had a different white/black contrast, which made the cavities look bigger, which explains why other dentists looking at it would confirm his initial diagnosis. I'm Dr. Davis patient for more than 10 years. I had multiple problems during the years and every single time the work was very high quality. The dental procedures performed by Dr Davis range from a simple cavity to the full implant and surgery. His work ethic is impeccable and all the time he will recommend what is good for the patient. The new location have a state of the art equipment and all the procedures can be performed there. They are really not transparent about the costs and fees associated with visits, procedures, or cancellation/reschedule policies. I have had two separate bad experiences here with my credit card being charged copious amounts of money with no information given to me at all during any time of my visit or scheduling process. I have been going to Dr. Davis for at LEAST 15 years, I wouldn't trust anyone else with my teeth/mouth! He's incredibly thorough and precise. I have really good dental hygiene but bad genetics, I'm in the early stages of periodontal disease....Dr. Davis has me coming in every 4 months rather than 6, to keep on top of things, he also explains things clearly and doesn't dismiss any questions I have. I went in today for possible TMJ and again, as thorough as can be!....he's even sending me to an oral surgeon to cover all ends. I'm moving this summer and am terrified of finding a new dentist, they have BIG shoes to fill! read more

Dr Davis is simply the best! I've been terrified of going to the dentist and had previously had bad experiences. Dr Davis is compassionate, caring, gentle and kind. I first saw him when I broke a tooth and he explained to me that it would need to be pulled. I was obviously terrified! Dr. Davis was quite personable, but his x-rays showed my wisdom teeth needed extraction, which should be done by an oral surgeon. Dr. Davis wanted to do the surgery himself, when he was not trained as an oral surgeon. In addition, he completely scared the bejesus out of me by telling me how my situation's extraction could result in permanent nerve damage and numbness in my face - when I went to another oral surgeon, they claimed this was only a minor chance. My childhood dentist was obviously huffing nitrous, because just about all of my fillings have either fallen out or were too thin in the first place. So I chose Dr. Sinclair for some damage control on my back molars. He was really nice and chatty, asking me about what I studied in college and all that. I felt bad because I have a problem keeping my mouth open really wide without swallowing. Haha, that sounded bad, I know. Dr. Sinclair also told me I need to get a wisdom tooth extracted, which I am putting off as long as possible. I would not use Dr. Sinclair when I get my wisdom tooth out, because he only uses local anesthesia. I need to be put under if someone is going to be ripping bones out of my head, sorry Doc. I agree with one of the other reviews: if I could give zero stars, that would be my rating. His manner is terrible: He thinks he knows everything, switches between English and Spanish, Italian, whatever just for 'fun', thinks he is amusing but he is not. More relevant is that his dental work is terrible. My experience was the same as many others. He has a painful, heavy hand, I have never had a dentist try to get his whole hand in my mouth. Awful. He complained that my tongue was the problem. He told me i needed to have all my crowns removed and redone because they were not finished as perfectly as he would like. He also wanted to fix countless cavities. My new dentist says all of that is ridiculous and not needed. What a terrible dentist! read more

Our family has been going to Georgetown Dental since the early 90's. One of our early experiences when our young daughter needed emergency care on a Friday evening after a fall. We were preparing to leave town for the weekend. Dr. Sinclair came from his home and was able to save several of our daughter's front teeth until the permanent teeth came in recently both my wife and I have had to have some dental work to include an extraction, bone graft and implant for myself. We have found to be very professional, caring and a perfectionist. The staff is also very professional and personable. These procedures are not cheap yet I am willing to pay for high quality care. I have been Dr. Davis' patient for a number of years, now. He has always been honest about my dental care, and we have a good doctor/patient relationship. In my experience, he has always been conservative in his approach, and absolutely listens and responds to my concerns. I have had a lot of mostly minor problems, but problems nonetheless, and ongoing, due to care I had as a child, which could only be described as horrific. Lots of unnecessary, large, fillings, which have resulted in numerous root canals and crowns. Dr. Davis has made my current experience tolerable, to say the least, and actually has helped me keep my sense of humor in some really upsetting and annoying situations involving my current teeth issues! To be fair, Dr. D. is a perfectionist, and this may be a problem for him at times; however, his perfectionism is ok with me. He is not afraid to recommend a second opinion if he has even the slightest reservation about doing a procedure. This tells me that he has my best interest in mind. Ooook, I'm going to have to make a completely contrasting comment about Dr. Davis than the previous one and first of all say DO NOT GO TO DR. DAVIS. From the moment I met Dr. Davis, I felt extremely uncomfortable. At first I thought his overly-attentiveness was just him being friendly and welcoming to a new patient but it quickly turned creepy and to him being inappropriately forward throughout the appointment. Since I was already hyper-sensitive due to his unwanted comments and hitting on me, I was acutely aware that his arm was blatently resting right on my chest throughout most of the time while he was cleaning my teeth. (I also found it strange that HE, the dentist, was cleaning my teeth and not the hygienist....maybe this happens more frequently than I'm aware of in dentists' offices but I've never had the dentist clean my teeth before in my life.....NOR touch any part of my body besides my face!!) Just to give an example of the creepiness I'm talking about, at the end of the appointment when I was at the receptionist's desk, the receptionist asked Dr. Davis when my next appointment should be: he held up 6 fingers and she asked "6 weeks?"..he said, "No, 6 months, but I wish she'd come back in 6 days just to drop in and say hi." Completely inappropriate, as he is supposedly a PROFESSIONAL annnd he had a wedding band on his finger! I'm considering making a more formal complaint than just ranting here in cyber-space, but for now, anyone reading this is forewarned. read more

I just went to an endondontist because of some trouble with a tooth, turns out that it was a botched root canal done by Dr. Davis. He left a drill bit in my mouth and never told me, just tried to cover it up. Well, now I have a massive infection and I'll probably lose the tooth and then will have to get a bridge. And we all know that is NOT cheap. read more

I have to agree with the other negative reviews regarding Dr. Davis. I came on this site to see what other people said about him because I have trouble imagining he doesn't get a lot of bad press. I visited him when I got new dental insurance at a new job and because he worked in my neighborhood. For starters, I found his personality extremely off-putting with some of his commentary offensive. Iagree wholeheartedly with others' assessments of him as "dismissive." I found him the most painful dentist I have had and as a result I asked him for novocaine during my following treatments. He blew off my requests and did not provide novocaine. The last time I saw him, I did so due to expensive and medically unnecessary abfractions at his suggestion. I take the blame for not asking for more information, particularly about cost. However, I had experienced no pain or discomfort prior to the procedure. However, three months after the procedure, I now cannot bite into anything hard without pain in my canines. I assume I will have to pay my next dentist heavily to fix his screw up. I basically paid him to give me pain I didn't have before. read more

Tend to agree in part with the 6/11/18 review. Apart from his quirky personality, Dr. Davis has a heavy touch for fillings, which resulted in inflammation and sepsis that he refused to treat with an antibiotic. Upon visiting another dentist, a week of antibiotic treatment resolved the issue. I would not return to this practice, which used to be excellent when Dr. Steele practiced. read more

I was a regular patient of Dr. Steele, but went to Dr. Davis for a routine cleaning when Dr. Steele was not available. The cleaning turned into Xrays, cavity repair, and a recommendation to abandon one tooth and get a crown. Dr. Davis describes his manner of work as "thorough", although the word I would choose is "brutal". Plus he left a temporary metal wedge between my teeth by mistake and only removed it when I complained. I have since found another dentist and will not be going back to Georgetown Dental. read more

He was attentive and took all the time it needed to explain me every detail of his first diagnose and recommendations to extract the tooth. Would leave zero stars if I could; my Uncle is a dentist and I usually go to him but he lives in New England and I'm in DC now so I don't want to make a long journey just to get my teeth cleaned. I guess I will! I went to Sinclair, I would not ever go back. I went in for cleaning, he seemed okay- but told me I needed a lot of work done- I should have been more apprehensive- he "fixed" a number of things in my lower mouth my Uncle said were probably fine and one of the fillings I have a picture of looks now like a broken tooth- I've never seen anything like it before. I had to get it completely repaired. My husband had a similar experience and he now needs two root canals on "fixed fillings". Do not touch fillings that look okay- if they don't hurt they are probably fine. He took a 10 minute phone call in the middle of the procedure to negotiate some club membership, my Novocaine wore off and he had to readminister- a three hour dental visit and I thought they broke these things up so you dont have to sit in agony for so long. There were also metal wedges stuck between my teeth that left my mouth sore for days. He was dancing in his chair during the procedure, one time he actually stopped and said, "I'm so excited I can't help it" and he was bouncing up and down. Uhhhh, I'm glad someones happy during all of this??? 9 months later, they only time they've contacted me is to have me come in to have my top teeth "fixed"; I never received a bill- I just got an email from their office saying they will take action if I don't pay 900$ in one week. Where's the itemized statement? Needless to say, I'm overwhelmed with disappointment at this office. read more

I had to get two wisdom teeth extracted and after putting it off for years, I decided to finally get this taken care of before it would become a horror story two or three years down the line. I was very nervous, especially after Dr. Davis reviewed the risks with me (I knew of some of them from co-workers), but the extractions went fine! They were painless and he is so good that there was no damage to the fillings nearby! I was in perfect condition a week later and have not had a problem since. The extraction itself, which I dreaded, barely took five minutes per tooth. By the way, I just wanted to clarify some of the other reviewers comments: DDS stands for "Doctor of Dental Surgery" - I need to point this out because Oral Surgery is performed by Doctors of Dental Surgery; thus if you needed to go to a hospital due to complications (ie: as an in-patient), your oral surgeon would most likely be the holder of a DDS. The more serious cases might require a specialist in oral surgery, but this would be a MD, MBBS or MBChB. Dr. Davis has a DDS, which qualifies him to perform oral and maxillofacial surgeries; he was warning the poster above that they shouldn't just go to another dentist asking for an extraction because their particular teeth required an oral surgeon to make sure that there would be no injury. I've been to dentists that specialize in tooth extractions, so I know there is a very big danger of certain dentists injuring their patients because they don't have the experience to conduct the surgery. Nevertheless, Dr. Davis was amazing and he was highly recommended by other surgeons in the area. I got my wisdom teeth removed two months ago, and I feel great! read more

My experience with Dr. Davis was painful and lengthly despite that fact that I don't have any serious problems with my teeth. After my cleaning and examination, during which he spoke to me in a Dracula voice, he told me to schedule an appointment to come in the following week "to take care of a few things." I called to re-schedule my appointment (because the receptionist botched this first one I made) and clarify what my appointment was for. The receptionist explained that Dr. Davis was going to charge me $500+ (total after my insurance covered 50%) to put a crown on my tooth. I got a second opinion from another dentist in the area - I do NOT need a crown after all. read more

I have gone to Dr. Davis for 15 years, had a variety of treatments from cleanings to more involved work, and find him to be personable, direct, and thorough. Yes, he's a straight talker. Personally, I like that and much prefer that approach over a dentist who skips over important points. Dr. Davis wants patients to understand why he either recommends or doesn't recommend treatments. I have never felt forced to do anything, and he's the first person to suggest you get a second opinion if you have questions. The office is in a really great part of town and is comfortable and feels more "homey" than most. Again, I like that and prefer it over a more sterile environment. read more
