I appreciated having an up-front breakdown of costs to avoid any sticker shock later on. I was escorted to an examination room after a short wait and a dental assistant took three x-rays of my cracked tooth. Next, Dr. Manesh entered the room, examined my tooth, and administered a pulp vitality test to assess my sensitivity to hot or cold substances. I wasn't experiencing any pain in the tooth or sensitivity to hot or cold substances; just some discomfort when chewing on that side of my mouth. Dr. Manesh shaved the tooth down a bit since a jagged area of the tooth was causing some discomfort. Next, he told me I would need to return to my general dentist to get the tooth filled. I appreciated Dr. Manesh's thorough exam and clear explanations. I was also happy to learn that all I needed was a quick procedure and not an extensive root canal the endodontist that I had seen prior to Dr. Manesh had prescribed. I would recommend this practice for courteous service, transparent billing, and ethical practices.

Let's face it: no one wants to be at the endodontist office. I don't know why the front desk staff…read morebothers to ask how your day is. I have been here a few times, and it was fine enough on my previous visits for me to return. I had a root canal a few years ago and it was... a root canal. No problems and seems to have been fine. But now when I have the misfortune of seeking out an endodontist, I will go elsewhere. I had a questionable tooth: might need a root canal, might need retreatment. I paid $600 for an appointment (with Dr Brian Davis) that got me no closer to an answer on what I should do. My options were half-heartedly explained to me after an exam, with my face numb, in the waiting room with other patients walking in and out. No one ever followed up. This might just be bad luck, but my mouth was more sore after that exam than it was after my actual root canal a week later (in a different office). I wound up driving to see two other dental specialists in the suburbs. By contrast, they each fully explained the options, taking time to walk me though it, in a room sitting down, pointing at x-rays. Neither of them charged me $600 for the consult.

After being x-rayed and determined that I would need a root canal treatment, we carried out with the procedure. In the midst of the procedure (about 10-15 minutes) with numbing done and drilling currently being performed. Dr. Davis told me that the tooth needed to be EXTRACTED instead. HOW COULD HE HAVE NOT KNOWN THIS FROM THE MULTIPLE X-RAYS TAKEN?? Ultimately aborting the procedure that I had to pay for out of pocket for work that didn't meet the original scope I came for. I'm not sure what's the status of my tooth because 1) i wasn't told given one, and 2) the tooth is covered with a temporary filling. However, I can tell that not as much of the tooth remains. Not sure if this is a case of dentist malpractice, but I'm in the middle of gathering information to consult with a lawyer.

Believe the hype about this endodontist. I basically look at Dr. Soluti as the Chuck Norris of…read moreendodontists. Here's what's up: When he did my root canal there was ZERO pain. I mean nothing at all. I can now proudly say that "I'd rather have a root canal" while doing many of the unpleasant things that I have to do in life (waiting in line at Trader Joes, separating the trash from the recyclables, doing my tax return). Dr. Soluti is a perfectionist when it comes to his work, and you can tell. That means that he might take longer to do some things, or that he will do an x-ray several times, but don't you want perfection when it comes to someone rooting around inside your teeth? The other thing that's cool is that the office doesn't just view this as a "one and done" procedure. All of their follow-up appointments and xrays are complimentary. And apparently they keep an eye on your tooth for a couple of years. The one thing that might be better is if they had a TV that you could watch during your procedure. I know it's a little snobby, but 1.5 hours with your mouth open can get quite boring.

He told me I needed a root canal and said he could do it right then and there if I wanted to save the time. He warned me that I should take care of it right away etc. I thought I should get a second opinion so I went to Dr. Soluti. Guess what? I didn't need a root canal at all. Dr. Soluti was prepared to give me a root canal, but when I went in he ran a few tests, did a few xrays and still no need for a root canal. He could have easily drilled away and made a handsome sum, but instead he told me the truth. He's a good man and I'll go to him for any other problems I have. Highly Highly Recommended! (Moral of the story: Always get a second opinion!)
