Good bagels close to home. What's not to like? All the bagels are good, but the one that stands out the most is the cranberry. It's like a blueberry bagel, but with more tang and less sweet. It's a really solid addition to a normal bagel line up that I must have missed during my 10-year stint away from good, east coast bagels. The schmear is also good. I love the veggie schmear. I love the Miami Burger. I have eaten here multiple times and the salmon is always fresh and delicious. The only reason for the four stars is that the bagels aren't consistently soft. I have tried their onion bagel, everything bagel, and plain bagels, they are all good, just a little on the hard side some times. Some capers on the Miami Burger bagel wouldn't hurt either! I always get a bagel with a fresh squeezed lemonade. Get it. It is so good! read more

Not thrilled after a pandemic visit to their store. Woman at register, used same gloves to handle my credit card transaction (and everyone else who entered store) to also bag my bagels. No wax paper or anything else. Crowded store in back. One employee was eating a bagel. Just expect a bit more of a hygienic set up at a time when everyone is trying to balance safety and supporting local businesses. Called three times to get thru to a manager but had no luck otherwise I probably wouldn't have posted this review. Annoyed! read more

I came here very briefly in the winter time to grab a bagel and coffee. The bagel was fresh and so was the coffee. The service was fast and efficient. This is a Bethesda institution. They have bagels that's are excellent toasted with cream cheese or dressed up however you desire. Beware it gets packed during the weekend breakfast rush and often times during the weekday high school lunch hour. The staff are super nice - many have been here long enough to know your order if you're a regular, although I'm not sure if that's a really good reflection on them or a sign you have a bagel problem. read more

The pandemic has made this place a lot better: when there is a huge crowd waiting, the tension gets high and the orders are rushed, but the lack of people in the store means your order is done with attention. I do the Miami burger, and the fish is always tasty, and they give me veggie cream cheese instead of plain at no extra charge, and that makes a huge difference. The bagels are the best in Bethesda. Very disappointed! I have loved this bagel shop for years. Unfortunately, they changed the way they make their bagels. They are extremely small and have no breading in the middle. A bagel slicer ruins them they are so small. In addition, they raised their prices to $1.50 per bagel. I am happy to pay more per bagel as long as the quality doesn't go down. In addition, I bought pastries which were stale when I got home and opened them. I spoke to a shift manager, Micah. He was extremely helpful and apologetic. Explained they have changed their baking process. I sure hope he finds another job soon as this place won't stay open for long! I am happy to give him a referral!! I used to really love this place. Friendly, long time staff, efficient service and awesome bagels. Things have significantly gone downhill the past couple of years. Staff are no longer friendly or helpful. They have done something with the recipe for their bagels. The crumb is more bready, and not chewy like a bagel should be. Their 'on-line' order system is inefficient or a set-up. On two consecutive weekends, we were charged for items we did not receive. We are trusting folks and, sadly, found out we'd been shortchanged once we got home. Typically, the place is crowded, social distancing makes it hard to open the bag and check its contents one by one. I found this place on my way to work. I stopped at the gas station early one morning and like usual Im starving but the only thing open at 6 am is mcdonalds. from the corner of my eye I saw bright neon pinkish red and green lights that read bagel and open. I thought this was too good to be true. after i finished getting gas i rushed over (remembering that i still have work) walking into a warm delicious bagel store that smelled of fresh bread and coffee. I was surprised to see 2 people in line since it was so early. however the wait was super short. Was in the area with the SO and decided to try this place. Our first time was so great that we decided to come here every Wednesday since then. First time: Had blueberry bagel and poppy bagel. Bagels were fresh and they are very generous with the cream cheese. Second time: Tried something from their breakfast. Had Badu's omelette with Granola bagel. Omelette has 2 eggs, chopped onions, black pepper and Salmon. Despite the omelette being a little salty for my taste, the granola bagel helped to balance it out. SO had Miami Burger with Garlic and Salt bagel. It has cream cheese, Salmon, onion and tomato. I actually really liked his order because the garlic in the bagel pulled together the whole "burger". (BTW, you get to pick your own bagel) In essence, this place has a variety of bagel options, breakfast options and other yummy foodies. If you want to get something not so mainstream, this is definitely a great place to try. read more

I've used Uber Eats to bring my a bagel breakfast on 5 occasions. Not one of the orders arrived complete and correct. But this morning's screw up takes the cake. Ordered a full pound of lox (check), four poppy bagels (rec'vd 6, one everything, two plain and three poppy) and two tubs of cream cheese, plain. They sent NO CREAM CHEESE but included 3 tubs of granulated white sugar. I called and was assured I would hear back promptly and cream cheese would somehow be supplied. Georgetown Bagelry probably has the best, closest to authentic, NY Style bagels in the DMV. Are they as perfect as a bagel in NY area? Nope. Are they pretty damn good for what they are? Yes. I wish they still had the Georgetown location, as it was nice to be down in that area and have the ability to get a tasty bagel, and not a round roll. The location in Bethesda isn't too far from me now. I am a huge fan of their egg/cheese sandwiches, that actually use an egg, not a fake microwave piece of "egg" like some places do. The prices are pretty standard for quality bagels and they have a nice stock of cream cheese flavors and drinks. I always ask for a freezer bag and keep my stored that way. You can easily keep them for a couple weeks, but its best to eat them quicker than that. My favorite variety is the everything bagel, but their sesame seed bagels are good too. I wish they had whole wheat everything. Regardless, this is one the few good bagel shops around this area. read more

I really loved this bagel shop! I came here several times while visiting Nicole, before I moved to DC, usually on a Friday for lunch. They have a large selection of bagel types, my favorite being the Everything. It actually tastes like everything, unlike so many other bagel shops attempts at big bold flavor. There is also a pretty big selection of fresh made spreads to get with it, but I usually chose to just go with a sandwich. Typically I would just order the BLT (I'm sure it's a culinary sin somehow to get bacon on bread made famous by Jewish people) and have it toasted. All the flavors meld together so nicely, and they put just the right amount of mayo on to give some balance to the heavy bagel. They also have my favorite Route 11 chips, which gets an automatic star boost at any establishment! It looks like they also make their lox fresh in the store, either that or they had giant pieces of fish on display for no particular reason. They even do bagel-dogs for the kiddies. One note, the sea salt bagels are REALLY salty, so prepare to do some scraping unless you're just feeling extra aquatic that day. Also, this is in the same shopping lot as the Whole Foods, so often times it can be a major pain to get in the parking lot, so be patient, it's worth the wait for some fresh bagels in Bethesda. read more

Though the store itself isn't all that cozy, I've definitely spent some time here chatting with friends on weekend mornings and felt comfortable. YES. YES. YES. I love this place! When I was little, my grandmother used to take me in here for pizza bagels all the time. Now, I have evolved, and this place still delivers great tasting food! These are most definitely some of the BEST tasting bagels in the DMV. However, their sandwiches are AMAZING. I have 2 favorites: the Miami Burger, which is smoked salmon, tomatoes, onions, and cream cheese. When I get it on one of their artisan everything bagels, my taste buds SOAR! My other favorite is their white fish salad. I'm not sure whether or not they make it in house, but it is simply amazing. Rude Staff I have been a regular customer of Georgetown Bagelry, eating maybe twice a week with no problems. However, I came in today at 3PM to order a bagel. For the first time, I think the staff accidentally forgot to toast the bagel enough. I pointed this out to staff, asking for the bagel to be retoasted. At this stage, the person at the counter said "Is it really that big of a deal?". He was a relatively tall white man without tattoos, somewhere in the 20-40 age range. This was rather rude, and as these bagels are expensive it is nice to have them properly toasted. At this stage, I was not in the mood to get the bagel, and so requested a refund. I also asked a different staff member for directions on his cell phone. He was polite. The employee who had been rude to me before comes up and says "what do you want?". I explain that I am looking for directions to my next destination. He sneers at me and says "bethesda bagel". I am not comfortably paying high prices for bad attitude, and I will be giving Bethesda Bagels a go in the future. read more

Best bagels I have found in Greater DC area. Located on River Road in the same mall as Whole Foods at the opposite end. The coffee is good too. As a native New Yorker, I can attest to the fact that their bagels are truly authentic - they are boiled before baked, as bagels should be. They have all of the traditional types of bagels you'd find in a real bagel shop (salt, everything, sesame, etc.). They also have REAL HOMEMADE cream cheese of varied assortment (not that prepackaged kind you find at Einstein Bagels or Dunkin Donuts). The staff here are always really nice, but the line moves infinitely slow on weekend mornings and is usually out the door (likely, because more people are finding out about this hidden gem!). I can't recommend this place enough. I'd go so far as to say they have the best bagels in Montgomery County and and the District. This place is--dare I say it--better than Bethesda Bagels. I've only been here twice on trips to Bethesda, but I need to start going to Bethesda more often (confusing that Georgetown Bagelry is here and a location of Bethesda bagels is in Dupont). The lox bagel has lox of lox, and the everything bagel has, well everything. I was going to get the Miami Burger (lox, cream cheese, onions, and tomato) again this time, but then I got a free bacon, egg, and cheese for checking in on Yelp! No questions asked, it was awesome. Keep in mind that they do use Canadian bacon, which I thought everyone knew was inferior to traditional (American?) bacon, but I forgave them. The inside is nothing too special, just a store in a shopping center with a few tables and a cooler with drinks (Gatorade and Honest Tea, mostly). They do have several outside tables, which is helpful on a warm day. Parking can be difficult, as there is a Whole Foods a few doors down, and you can imagine how that goes on a Saturday afternoon. First time at Georgetown Bagelry today. I'd have to say it's nothing special. The bagel is very dense and thick. I prefer airy, soft homemade bagels but that's just me. Staff was decent. Did not have to wait long. The only thing that sucked was by the time I got to my apartment five mins away the wrapper was completely stuck to my bagel and I had to use a knife to scrape it off. This is my go to bagelry in the DC area, and the only place I've tried that comes close to New York quality. On top of that, they have fantastic lox, and Dr. Brown's celery soda. Delicious! This is THE bagel place I go to in the DC area. Nothing beats it. While lines can get long at peak times (read: weekends/brunch time) - it's worth the wait, and the staff move as fast as humanly possible to get to everyone. Not only that, it is a community staple within the Walt Whitman HS community - a lunch place where more memories are made than I could count. While I miss the days where they were open until 10pm (I know!!) - I am still glad I can get a bagel when I return home to see my folks on the weekends. Drove a bit to get here so I was a bit disappointed that I wasn't blown away. Having said that I only ordered a whole wheat with butter. Maybe if I had delved further into the cream cheeses or the normal white four bagels I would have been more satisfied. The dining area is dingy, not cute. Someone needs to be employed to wipe down the tables. P.S. Took home a few "minis" (the size normal bagels were once upon a time. Liked the flavor on the poppy and sesame ones. Not what it used to be. Ordered an everything with cream cheese. They asked if I wanted it toasted. I asked if it was baked today. The woman at the counter said yes, but that it was not soft. Mind you, I was there at about 9am. So I got it toasted. Despite what she told me, I very much doubt that the bagel was baked today. It did not seem like a fresh-baked bagel. Way too touch inside to be fresh. On top of that, the cream cheese schmear was weak; very little cream cheese. Paled in comparison to Bethesda Bagels. I went to G'town Bagelry b/c it was convenient. I had a Reuben of sorts for myself (I suppose if its on a bagel its not a Reuben) - enough of semantics - it was very good....the meat was top shelf. Stopped by on an April trip to DC. We stayed in Bethesda and decided to bike the Capital Crescent Trail into the city (a fantastic experience, by the way). Georgetown Bagelry was a great stop right along the trail (and near a Capital Bikeshare dock - perfect). We walked in and waited in a line of about 3-4 people, which was the right amount of time to check out the menu. I asked if I could get a pizza bagel this early in the morning, and the charming woman at the counter - I think Sarah - told me if I felt like pizza, it was the right time for pizza.
