Another great Yelp find! If there is a line out the door, either the place is too small or the food is freakin' awesome. In this case, it's both. After fighting a losing battle trying to find parking in Georgetown, I decided to get lost and find something with a little better access. Enter the Georgetown Bagelry, which is ironically, quite a bit away from Georgetown. I've never had an east coast bagel, but if they are like this, I'm a huge fan! I arrived on a Sunday, and the line was, well, ridiculous. But they did a relatively good job sorting through the mess and giving me a delicious sausage and egg sandwich within 10 minutes. Yum! Finding good bagels in the DMV is difficult. However, Georgetown Bagelry is one of those places that I crave while at college in California, and every time I come home, I MUST go to. The shop itself is in an unassuming small collection of stores (with horrendous parking), but it's more than what meets the eye. The bagels are delicious, but what especially stands out are the bagel sandwiches on the menu. The "Miami Burger" (tomato, onion, cream cheese, and lox) is a filling and flavorful breakfast/brunch item. The Reuben is also one of my favorites, piled with corned beef and toasty! The pizza bagel and bagel dog are also worth a try! The homemade cream cheese mixes are excellent as well, with a variety of flavors to please all. The owner, Mary, does an excellent job with the place, and often posts discounts on twitter for those who follow. The OJ in the fridge is also not to be missed-fresh squeezed, and better than any commercial brand you can buy. Overall, I have nothing but good things to say about Georgetown Bagelry, its staff, and its product. If you are in the area, it's a sin not to try this place! read more

After growing up in Baltimore and moving to DC, I was always on the lookout for great Bagel's that matched what I could get in Baltimore. After trying almost all the options in the VA, DC, MD area I always kept going back to Georgetown Bagelry as my go to option. I think they make the best bagels and sandwiches in the DC metro area and now that I have moved away from the area, Georgetown Bagelry is one of my first stops whenever I return. Great breakfast sandwiches, great bagels, and extremely friendly staff. I don't know what else you could ask for. read more

Bagels are okay. Still prefer Bethesda Bagels, more reminiscent of a REAL NY bagel. If you're there early on a Saturday/Sunday and place a big order for a dozen bagels or something like that, don't let them get the bagels from the back. These bagels aren't nearly as fresh and are likely from the day before. Ask for the ones from the front of the store, those are the fresh ones. The bagels are great but customer service is extremely disappointing. I ordered two dozen bagels and paid to have them cut. They cut them so unevenly, I was embarrassed to serve them to my guests. Almost half were really lopsided with one side was super thick and the other was paper thin. I think 2-3 bagels of the two dozen were cut evenly. I had to throw out the leftovers because the slices would not fit in the toaster without cutting the bagel again to make it thinner. But even then the thin part was so thin it would burn. I called the place after my brunch and asked to speak with the manager hoping for an apology and small remedy (a dozen bagels next time?) The manager was not there so I asked when he or she will be in. I was told the manager does not have regular hours (huh?). So I asked that the manager calls me back. The person answering the phone asked why, so I explained. I got no apology from her for their poor service and, even more so, never heard back from the manager. They are super friendly and I can honestly say that I have never found a bagel as good in this area. The young women behind the counter almost seemed high. She had to ask me over and over what I wanted on my bagel. Yes my order is a bit unique. I get an everything bagel double toasted and half scooped with bacon, tomato and cream cheese. I had to say it about five times and the last time i said it VERY VERY slow. I then asked for a coffee and she asked if I wanted cream, I said yes and then asked her if I could please have a shot of vanilla if they have it. She just looked at me for a long time like she was really confused by the question. i said vanilla syrup. She pointed at the counter and said their is creamer over there. Then the lady behind me said they just have plan coffee. I said think you I didn't think that was such a difficult question to answer. and we both started to LOL. So my total was almost 8 bucks. I felt that was really high considering I get this all the time at my regular spot. They charged me 2 bucks extra for the bacon and .25 cents for the scoop. I know its only 25 cents but really you charge to have it scooped. Thats just silly. The bagel came fast and it was a huge portion which was great. It was very good but was chewy. It seemed almost old. Double toasted usually makes it crunchy not chewy. The bacon was also over cooked but overall it was good. Much better than most places I have been. But I am a begal snob because of how great the Royal Bagel Bakery is. I have only had one bagel better and it was in NY city. read more

I haven't lived in the neighborhood for several year, but every time I can get down to this section of DC, I stop in for a bagel. It is pretty hard to make a bagel special, but Georgetown Bagelry does it with ease. First, they have a large and varied selection of bagels and cream cheeses. My favorite is the garlic salt bagel with bacon horseradish cream cheese, it might sound odd, but it is really good. In my experience, the bagels are always fresh and the staff is always courteous. The service is pretty fast, but not fast enough to sacrifice quality. The one warning I would give is that it is good to get there earlier if you go on a weekend. It shares a too small parking lot with a Whole Food, so parking can be tough after people start their shopping. read more

I was surprised when I saw blueberry bagel... it had little specks of blue in it...I'm used to whole blueberries in bagels. First time I go to this bagel place. I paid for coffee and pumpernickel bagel. There was No Dark roast coffee in self serve coffee pump. Only medium roast. I couldn't believe it when the guy behind the counter unapologetically said, "Oh.... I need to make more." No apology for not supplying the customer with the goods advertised on the counter. I left the shop frustrated and to add insult to injury, when I bit into my bagel it tasted like day old bread. When I went back to get a different bagel the same guy behind the counter unpleasantly notified me that all the bagels will be the same. So I switched it out and got a everything bagel instead. Well I guess I should've gotten my money back because the guy was right. That bagel tasted the same. Like day old bread as well. Bagel was very hard for what is supposed to be a fresh bagel . Running late for work I had no time to go anywhere else. I'm still frustrated hours after the fact. I will never go back to that place. Bad service. Not so great tasting bagels. Two stars are for past experiences I've had where staff was good and because I've been coming here since I was little and now bring my children there bc we LOVE their bagels. They are some of our favorites. Today I went in quickly after dropping off a UPS package to grab a half dozen bagels (which aren't cheap here, btw). I walked in and there were a few customers who'd already been served and one man who it looked had finished his payment and walked to the left of the counter to look at some of the bagels (at least that's what I thought was happening.) The checkout staff member (not sure of her name, she had dyed blonde hair), stares at me with a blank stare. Since I thought the other gentleman had finished his order, I went up to the counter and said "Hi there"only to be interrupted by her when she said with a ton of attitude "I'm still helping another customer" and talked down to me - to be honest, I was so shocked that I can't remember her exact words after that and don't want to mischaracterize them. But because I don't think customers deserve to be treated disrespectfully for literally no reason at all other than that the staff is just taking out their aggression on the nearest person, I walked out. As I walked out I told her "You seem very rude, you need to work on customer service." I could not believe that the other customers there had put up with that type of customer service. Honestly, even though I've been a customer of Georgetown Bagelry for 20+ years, I'm not sure I'll go back here because this incident shook me. read more
