Overall 3.5 Stars Ambiance 3.5 Stars Locally own, in the heart of Bethesda, this non-descriptive bakery is known for their fresh baguettes and pastries. There are a few indoor and outdoor tables and due the size of the building, it can get very crowded very quickly. Fortunately that wasn't the case for us. Service 3.5 Stars: The staff were friendly and I believe one employee was training a new employee who wasn't too thrilled to be there. The other employees had more enthusiasm and were helpful with our order. Food: 3.5 Stars, Coffee was 4.5 Stars 3.25 stars The "Crogel" it is the child from a bagel and croissant enjoying a romantic dinner, had a little bit more wine and 9 months later...Crogel. A great concept but it did not hit the mark for us. Now, with that said, I loved the flaky bottom of the croissant but the top layer of the "everything bagel" made me want more of the bagel instead of the croissant. Also, it needed some acidity from a lemon or balsamic vinegar to cut the sweetness of the salmon and cream cheese. The fresh cucumber and leafy greens were welcoming. 4.5 Stars - Their coffee is strong and had a great flavor with a hint of bitterness to it. They brewed it perfectly. 3.5 Stars - Seasonally - Pumpkin Croissant The croissant was light, flaky and slightly buttery. The pumpkin filling had the pumpkin spices you desired during a Thanksgiving dinner. It was thin layer of filling inside the croissant but it was all you needed. I dunk part of my croissant into my coffee and it tasted even better! Unfortunately I forgot to buy a fresh baguette so I guess you will need to tell me how they were. From what I can tell, I would get it heated and ask for butter! They looked wonderful.

It's wonderful to visit Fresh Baguette on a Sunday morning. Before you enter, you're only thinking croissants, but then the minute you open the door a rush of buttery carbs is wafting in the air! This leaves you delirious and undecided. Stay focused or you'll leave with more than your tummy can handle! Let me help you, first, grab a ham and cheese croissant, get it heated, I repeat, heat it. Begin to gobble it up, enjoy the crispiness of the first bite. As your teeth sink in further, enjoy the soft chewy texture of the inside along with melted flavors of the ham and cheese combined. Stay with me, proceed to the next bite and you're like "where have been my whole life?" Before you know it, it's all gone. Now that your full, you can make better decisions! At this point, grab whatever, there are no bad choices except if you choose to pick nothing. I brought home an everything bagel, I meant crogel, it's a croissant/bagel hybrid. I put it in my toaster oven later in the day and it was like it was freshly made in my home. As for the interior, it's simple with clean lines. Not a lot of seating, but on an early Sunday morning there will be a table for you. You can also enjoy eating on their front patio area. Be careful, there are cute little birds bouncing around and tilting their heads like puppies do in hopes that you'll drop a crumb or two. You won't be able to help yourself, you will end up feeding fancy French pastries to your new winged friends and talking to them like a Disney princess. Well, enjoy your visit and let me know if you're loving the Ham and Cheese Croissant as much as I did!

This Easter Chicken has been places. April 2025

I was initially going to get the Easter Chicken they had. It has been traveling across the DMV in April 2025 on their IG page. I could tell it would be full of goodies, but when I heard the price, I opted to get the mini pastries instead (for myself). The display they had at the time I visited showed 4 choices: Coffee Eclair, Yuzu Lemon Meringue, Chocolate Éclair, and a Caramel Tart. Of the 4 choices I got, I think the Caramel Tart was the best of the four and this is from someone that is not big on anything caramel in general, but I would get that again, for sure. I also enjoyed the Yuzu Lemon Meringue mini pastry and would actually get that in regular size on a future visit. For those who frequent Fresh Baguette often, they can sign up for their membership, which has two levels I see. I would have gotten it if I visited this place a bunch. Great visit. Although, the only negative I would say is that I wished one of the employees would have shared that there was a cost for the medium paper bag for my boxed item. Lesson learned for next time. It's all good.

I walked into fresh baguette this morning for coffee and croissant. I had an amazingly delicious croissant, flaky on the outside, chewy on the inside with a delicious buttery taste. Marvelous! My latte was rich and smooth and creamy. The kouign amman was good but not caramelized on the outside. The pan au raisin had a delicious flavor. Service was excellent, the place was bright and cheery.

A very solid option for fresh breads and more! The croissants here are excellent and staff is very quick. This location has more "to go" vibes but there is a place to eat inside the cafe.

Everything you love but healthier Imagine you want to eat well but you want to eat healthier for your new year. Well Fresh Baguette, is helping you with your goals. Your beloved crogels (croissant and bagel hybrid) in all the flavors except in a petit size and half the cost. They also have mini version of their croissants. Fresh Baguette for the win, assisting you hit all the goals, to save money and to save calories. Service is always impeccable, they have the friendly and prompt service. Plus, to make things even speedier, you can order delivery to your door or preorder before you pick up your order. This is a town fan favorite, because they give you delicious food and European vibes. All for the price of a pastry or two. If you want delicious pastries and a feeling of traveling overseas for the price of baked good, you have found the perfect venue.

We ordered breakfast delivery from here to Silver Spring and were impressed. Hot coffee, an iced latte, two cro'gel sandwiches, and a Nutella croissant traveled well. Everything was delicious, though we did toast the sandwiches. They do not come toasted but I highly recommend doing so. Loved the cro'gel (croissant in the shape of a bagel) as the sandwich base. I got a caprese that was great. My iced caramel latte was enjoyable. Croissant was good and will try the almond one next time. My friend enjoyed his order. I'm looking forward to ordering again.

    Kouign Amann Interior

I was surprised to find a bakery that prides itself on bread (it's in the name!) that also offers a wide selection of sweet pastries as well, including more labor intensive caneles, croissants, and cakes. I ordered a few items to compare with the other bakeries just down the street. Kouign Amann ($4.50) - The aesthetics of this pastry was absolutely beautiful, with distinct layers tucked under a dome of brown deliciousness. Appearances can be deceiving though. This was a very bready and doughy kouign amann. The number of layers inside was lacking and all the layers that did exist were quite thick and coarse. The kouign amann did not have the delicate buttery, flaky layers I normally associate with this pastry. In addition, there didn't seem to be any sugar laminated in the dough - the interior was not sweet but was bland. All the sugar seemed to be on the exterior, but to Fresh Baguette's credit, the sugar was caramelized perfectly. This is a rather middling kouign amann. Almond Croissant ($4.80) - Similar to the kouign amann, the almond croissant was bready and not flaky. The layering was not great and the pastry was quite puffy. There was a good amount of almond paste inside that was pretty good. It's processed a bit less finely than other places, which I honestly preferred as it gave a nice contrast with the soft layers of the pastry. This almond croissant was not cut in half like what a lot of other places do - instead it was baked with the croissant. I thought the sweetness level and balance of flavors were perfect. I just wish that this was a flaky croissant rather than a bread/croissant hybrid. Parisian Baguette ($3.95) - This baguette had a nicely developed crust and chewy crumb that was almost to the point of being spongy. The flavor was quite well developed. This was a good baguette in general. My recommendations for Fresh Baguette is to avoid the sweets and only get their baguettes. They were warm and freshly baked, and apparently are baked multiple times a day for freshness. For sweet pastries, there are multiple better places just down the street.

Tasty Sandwiches & More! My updated review-I've tried more tasty treats. Quiche Lorraine (eggs, swiss cheese & bacon). A creamy texture w/lightly smoked flavor in a flaky buttery crust. Generous size-enough for two. Nutella Croissant (filled w/Nutella hazelnut spread.) Delicious buttery pastry w/tasty chocolate hazelnut flavor. A variety of sandwiches are available including chicken & veggie options. I chose the Traditional Baguette Sandwich (salami, arugula & cornichons on a buttered fresh baguette.) Baguette fresh crusty exterior texture, tender interior & tasty salami. Generous size too. Courteous Customer Service. See Photos!

I've been coming here for years, and it's always a dependable, tasty stop when the hunger pangs strike. My go-to is The Wreck -- loaded up and, of course, with extra hot peppers. It's not just a sandwich; it's a life experience. Every bite feels like it's giving my taste buds a standing ovation... and my sinuses a pep talk. I also love their chili -- hearty, comforting, and exactly what you want on a chilly day (pun absolutely intended). One of my favorite things is the mix-and-match approach here.
