Tatte Bakery & Café was a really cute spot, and I'm glad my mom and I stopped in! The atmosphere was charming, and it's definitely a nice place to grab coffee and a pastry. I ordered an iced vanilla latte, which was really good, along with the monkey bread. The monkey bread was ok, but it wasn't the best I've ever had. My mom ordered the strawberry turnover, and she really enjoyed it, along with the pain au chocolate (chocolate croissant). One thing that caught us off guard was my mom's iced caramel macchiato, the girl at the counter told us that they couldn't make it iced, and instead it came in a small espresso cup instead of being iced like my latte. It wasn't bad, just unexpected We also shared a breakfast sandwich, which was good overall, but it had a lot more arugula than egg. I think i haven't yet found what's good here as the menu is extensive but not everything delivers. The lamb shakshuka was a disappointment. The toast was too buttery and not conducive to dipping, the sauce tasted just like canned tomatoes, and the lamb kofte weren't very flavorful, let alone spiced, and the eggs were overcooked and not at all runny. I've had the salmon rice bowl before and it's tasty but a bit heavy and oily. The salads look pretty fresh and the baked goods look beautiful so maybe those are better bets. Tatte is always a consistent lunch option. I have been to many locations but was excited to visit this new to me location. I work close to this location and frequently get take out here just out of convenience. The food is a hit or miss depending on the day and what I order. Most recently it looks like someone may have dropped part my short rib sandwich in water before wrapping it up. Was quite disappointed upon unwrapping and seeing the soggy, inedible portions of the bread. Other times after ordering a turkey blt, I have also found the bread so unappealing and soggy with the amount of excess sauce/dressing they apply in the sandwich. I typically pick up and eat within minutes of the order being placed since it's so close to my work. On other occasions, the quality has been great but the lack of consistency in what I may end up getting is why it's a 3 star establishment at best. read more

We have peace with God first let me start with I do not like bread! I don't eat pizza and I am not excited by a bread basket until TATTE! OMG I am in big trouble because I am within walking distance to the Bethesda location and I foresee many an excursion to get that Chewy melt in your mouth doesn't need anything bread. Besides the bread I had the fabulous chicken salad with strawberries, fresh peaches, and cashews. It was so yummy and the portion was so big. I ate what I wanted and still had a box for take-home. Next I will be turned on to coffee which is something I do not like at all. The only coffee I liked was when I was in Israel and I'm sure it's not that. How could it be?! I love Tatte (despite the prices). But I've ordered UberEats from this specific location (Bethesda) multiple times and 50% of the time THEY COMPLETELY MISS ITEMS. These are not complicated orders ... but the items are simply not there. It is so frustrating. Each time it happens I swear I'm not going to order again and then several weeks/months later I'm busy at work so succumb to the temptation again only to be irritated AGAIN at getting an incomplete order despite being charged a ridiculous amount. This time the receipt itself SHOWED only two out of seven items "checked" off. The other five unchecked items were the ones missing. To add yet more insult to injury, the lid on the soup was loose so there was soup all over the bottom of the bag it was in as well as the container. I am so annoyed at this point that I probably shouldn't be posting this review angry but this has been a repeated issue with this specific location and I don't know where else to give folks a head's up on what appears to be a complete disregard for proper care and food handling or quality control for delivery orders. Food was good. I expected as much. I wasn't expecting the tight place and the multiple people hoarding tables with a coffee and their computer. One guy was hogging a 4 top with just a glass of water. No bueno Management should have told him buy a meal or stand and wait. He was there 20 min before his friends showed up. The food is good and when the weather is warm there are outdoor tables. I absolutely love both the food and drinks at Tatte. It's my favorite place to go for a good cappuccino, and their main meals are sooo good. Most recently I had the farro, corn, and avocado bowl, adding grilled salmon. It tasted fresh and flavorful. Their eggplant brisket couscous dish is also one of my favorites. The only downside is that sometimes it's a bit of a wait. On a Saturday morning/afternoon, it's not unusual to wait about 15-20 minutes for a coffee drink. There were so many that looked delicious, but we got the fruit box that had a delectable cream filling & a pain au chocolat that was perfectly flaky. To eat we got a breakfast sandwich and the lamb meatball shakshuka with challah bread, which were both incredible. To drink, we got an americano & their fig, lemon, mint soda. Love this Tatte, but my goodness is it a pain and a half to park unless you use the garage. Every pastry staple is beautiful and delicious -- the candied orange cake, for example. The coffee is consistent and very good. Their baristas have made fantastic latte art in the past (Halloween comes to mind) and I've always had good experiences with the service staff. My usual is any of the Shakshukas, and either Espresso or Nitro Cold brew depends on my mood or the season! My friends tried different items and they loved it! The Shakshukas come in the pan! It's been over a month since I was in Bethesda, MD for a work trip and I frequented this marvelous place which to this day, I dream of often! Food was of high quality. Baked goods were sublime and they consistently delivered on quality and freshness. Overall, service was good. This location was a walking distance from where I stayed and as soon as one goes in, the sight of all baked goods and even the open kitchen towards the back, just made for a happy place. Some of the faves I had were: *Smoked Salmon, Avocado & Egg Sandwich with red onion slices, capers, alfalfa sprouts, and creamy scrambled eggs served on a housemade challah roll with green herbed dressing. *Roasted Pear, Granola & Labneh served with housemade granola over labneh, and drizzled with maple syrup. * Roasted Squash & Mushroom Farro Bowl. This is served warm with roasted acorn squash, button mushrooms, and arugula tossed with parsley relish served with ricotta goat cheese mousse and a poached egg. *Potato Leek Soup served with a roll There were several other pastries I tried and even brought home with me to California which they placed in a box and they loosely put paper on top to keep the pastries from moving around the box. This kept the pastries intact and everything was devoured by the family before I could take pictures. There was a good selection of merchandise as well. I really enjoy Tatte bakeries. After hearing that our usual coffee stop had closed in Bethesda Row, I was happy to discover Tatte gave us a new place to come to during our coffee bike rides. I ordered a mini chocolate and raspberry cake with a cappuccino. They gave me a number that I took with my table so the server can locate me. It wasn't extremely busy, but they had a steady stream of people. So the coffee and treat don't come out too quickly. But the wait wasn't too bad. They have a good amount of tables inside. They also have some tables lining the outside of the shop. This is where we chose to sit to enjoy the fresh air. The chocolate raspberry cake was a nice small bite/treat to give me the sweet boost I needed for my ride back home. I chased it down with the cappuccino, which had enough boldness and flavor without being dulled by the milk. Tatte always has a nice display of treats. I would like to say that I used to be a huge supporter of Tatte, specially for the one DuPont Circle and this location (Bethesda) since their openings, because I truly enjoyed their meals and the overall vibe of the place, but lately they keep disappointing me? Flavors, portions and even the service is not that great. Price wise is alright? I can still make me a Shakshuka for less than $10 bucks and delicious for sure. We went around 3PM today, which was not crowded at all (it was past lunch time rush and too early for dinner rush), and we got our orders fast. Desserts are always brought first, Tiramisu creamy and sweet, seem fresh from the day. My mocha latte, I requested almond milk, but got it with whole milk. The Shakshuka, was small portioned, the eggs were already cooked through so the yolk was harder than "gooey", the flavor of the tomato stew was decent but not outstanding, and requested sourdough bread for it, still got their challah. I always understand when the place is packed with people and by that you can expect not getting your order right, but it's upsetting when it's not and you can really tell, the business doesn't care. Anyways, this location I will always recommend if you just want to chill and work/do your homework, grab a coffee and something from their freshly baked items (their chocolate rosette bread is really good when freshly baked).
