Georgetown has a 4 way stop. So one would a pizza place, a burger place, but not sushi. The Georgetown Distillery sits in the former building of the Mark Smith Jeep museum, and it came to life a few years ago by the former owners of Cool Beerwerks as Whiskey and food place. Now, the son Edward has taken over and the menu has been changed to feature sushi, in little old Georgetown. Edward has been making sushi for years previously at Beerwerks, has now taken that experience to running his own place. We've been there a couple times now, and Edward is great. I've been to Japan a couple times, and I casually said I miss traditional Japanese Nigiri (they put wasabi in the rice). Edward said, I can't make for most people cause it's too much, but if you want it I can make it! NO WAY! I said, can it be on the Georgetown Distillery "secret menu"?? He laughed and said sure, just ask. Emilie wanted a roll, but with soy wrap instead of seaweed. Edward said Hmm...I've never made this particular roll in soy, so I'm not sure how it will come out...but I'm up to the challenge. That's how you do it! He set the expectation level, and she said DO IT! Well...it came out perfectly. I've had miso soup, edemame, several nigiri sushi and Emilie has had the coconut curry and "the" roll. A delicious lunch amid the pines today at the Georgetown Distillery and Restaurant. The crispy Cajun-style catfish with homemade chips and house-made gin tartar sauce was outstanding...the best tartar sauce I've tasted. The balsamic bleu-cheese wedge salad was unbelievably delicious and more than enough for two. We complemented our meal with the distillery's Passion-fruit Vodka Sour and Bloody Mary with pickle-infused vodka. Visited this place while driving around and exploring NoCal and glad we did. The place has a very friendly staff with good drinks and cool spirts like pickle infused vodka and pineapple infused gin. The drinks were good. The service was lacking. You walk in, no greeting-nothing. I watched multiple couples/people walk in and no greeting, no eye contact, nothing. I made eye contact with other patrons and you could see it in our eye's - "WTF is going in here?!" You don't know where to sit or how to order. The owner and his wife are within just feet of you running a business that feels like a nuisance. I overheard them talking about the place being for sale. They were the same way when they worked at the brewery in Cool. Bothered and overworked. We waited and waited for drinks and for food. 1.5 hrs from ordering food to being served. Such a disappointment. This place is running on curiosity -not repeat business. Places like this work when there is a love and passion for service. Unfortunately not the case here. This was a pretty neat little place. I don't drink and can't comment on the quality of drinks, but I eat. The sammich wasn't spectacular, however it was not bad. A run of the mill chicken strip sammich with Frank's on a brioche bun. They didn't mess it up. The chips are home sliced and prepared and were very good!! The wedge salad was pretty good, I'm certain it was whatever was in the dressing. But wedge salads typically don't impress me much... We sat outside and it was a very nicely covered patio. Service was good as well and friendly. If you're going for the food I'm sure there are better options. I suspect as their name indicates, they're a much better distillery than a restaurant. read more

I'm not a bourbon drinker, but I've made so many Manhattans for my wife that I know what she'd like. And she wouldn't like the bourbon. I tried a sample and I swear I caught a plastic-y whiff on its nose. So, I didn't get my wife a bottle. To be fair, I'm no connoisseur of bourbon. Maybe it's world-class stuff and I just don't know when I've got it good! But I do know my way around fresh potato chips. I like crunchy outsides and chewy insides. I think these were a minute over-fried, as I had to hunt for those with the perfect texture--most of the smaller ones were almost bitter. So, hate me for being a potato chip snob! If I'm going to slam my arteries, I want it done right! I did not care for the wings at all. I'm not too familiar with wings, so don't put too much stock in my reflection. I just found them a bit oily when I bit into them (they drizzled out some oil, but it WAS delicious oil). I didn't find any of the three flavors to be worthy of a reorder in the future. But I WILL come back. I love a good burger and I'm betting these will make me a happy guy. I always prefer to leave my money at local businesses. And this place is on the way home from one of my favorite local fly fishing destinations. It'll be something to look forward to when I haven't caught a damn thing on the river! My server was interesting to chat with and I appreciate a real conversation that transcends the typical obligatory meaningless chatter. And I'll get a salad next time. We are greeted by smiles, and that is very important. Their specialty drinks are incredible... You drink what they make... The food is spectacular... Every single time I go in there I spend well over $150... Their appetizers are mouthwatering... Their burgers are spectacular... I haven't had anything that I don't care for! The gals that work there are super friendly and the cook is awesome... The food that they come up with and the drinks that they come up with are amazing... Took a chance and came up for our wedding anniversary (risky?), and what an absolutely great find! Very low key and super friendly, great service, fantastic drinks (watermelon martini was FIRE), and amazing food! The chef is obviously quite talented and the staff is very pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful. We left with some of their unique and delicious bourbon, some awesome t-shirts, and a gift card for another family members upcoming birthday, to share this experience with others. Great, Good and bad. The great: I love the idea of a distillery for this town! I love the beautiful website, and the bacon burger and fries/chips were delicious. The bourbon was smooth and tasty as well. The good: location, etc. Nestled in the pine trees. Sturdy furniture. Nice silverware and napkins. The bad: Terrible greeting and service. We felt awkward instead of welcomed while the manager just basically stood there and looked at us when we walked in. The liquor inventory was low. You cant sell it, if you dont have it. The Cowboy fries were disgusting. Blobs of Bleu cheese in a chunky sauce form and way too much Buffalo sauce. This along with very few pieces of dry, tiny, over cooked pieces of chicken and not enough greenery. I reccomend changing it up with tender crispy chicken strips, small chunks of Bleu cheese sprinkled throughout, and circle the entire plate lightly, with the buffalo sauce for presentation, more green, like green onions, and add fresh diced tomatoes. The decor needs help. "A" for effort, but just not quite there. Take the tshirts off of the walls, make the beautiful canvas pictures bigger, make the "specials" chalkboard ALOT bigger so you can see it from your table. There really is so much more that could be improved. But I'll stop here. If we go back, it will only be for a bottle of liquor and maybe a burger. Had high hopes. read more

We came in and sat down right away took a few minutes for the staff to notice us and check on us/ bring us water. After about 15 minutes we got to order. I got the crispy chicken sandwich with the homemade potato chips (15.75). My husband got the daily special, the clam chowder bowl (14). It took a solid 45 minutes for our food to come out. The chicken was decent and the chips were good. My husband said the clam chowder was incredibly salty and lacked many actual clams. Though the restaurant had plenty of patrons, the menu is fairly small and straight forward, it seemed like everyone in the whole restaurant received food at different times than who they were sitting with. They only had 3 domestic beers. We didn't order any whiskey so we cannot judge that at all, but others around us seemed to enjoy the drinks. read more

Great location and service. The food is very good and our bartender was very accommodating for our large group (6). We were interested in the pickle infused vodka so she recommended the pickle martinis. They were very good but needed a splash more pickle juice which she kindly provided. Our party has house made chips, artichoke dip, potato skins, margarita pizza and chicken wings. Everything came out and was very tasty.
