Very economically priced for the amount of food we received. We ordered the "Large" (big mistake!) Wonton soup, and Wor Wonton soups to go. The large was about 1.5x the normal containers (see pictures) and suffice it to say we could not finish it. The wontons were chicken wonton soups, while the "wor" ("everything") wontons included shrimp and pork, besides a good amount of napa cabbage in both. The broth was flavourful but were probably a salt bomb (which restaurant soup is not, anyway?). I went to the Georgetown Ca location June 1st and the young man who waited on me had a horrible attitude. I ordered and he yanked the menu out of my hands. When he brought my soup he set it down hard enough to slop the soup out of the bowl. He walked around like he had a thundercloud over his head. My advice is if you dont have the want to be somewhere, dont. It made my experience very poor. If that is the only server I wouldn't recommend eating there on that fact alone. read more

I will preface with how friendly and pleasant the owners are. It always appears clean. I've frequented several times over the years. I give them three stars as it's consistently average. They are catering to American customers in an area with very little competition. An Asian audience wouldn't frequent here. I had the spicy eggplant dish, egg foo young, and mushroom and Chinese greens. The eggplant was very good with a sweet/semi spicy sauce. The greens were flavorful with plenty of mushrooms but consisted only of Napa cabbage and only the stalk portion and no greens. The biggest disappointment was the egg foo young. It was clearly overcooked. Instead of a nice golden brown it was almost black in color and had a slight almost burnt taste. The sauce was flavorful but lacked vegetables and very little meat. I'll continue to patronize this place. If you're wanting American style Chinese and don't want to drive to off the divide it's worth visiting. I do miss the buffet. We decided to give this place another try because of all the positive reviews on the local Facebook page. This was by far the worst food we have ever eaten. Zero flavor on all the dishes except the pot stickers. The wor wonton soup tasted like slightly flavored water, it was terrible. The oil that was used for the house fried rice, which had zero veggies in it and maybe 2 shrimp, was borderline rancid. Very disappointing! read more

I guess all good things eventually come to an end? (Sad Face). My parents lived in Georgetown for over 25 years. They are both currently residing at Georgia Slide Cemetary. Our families always made a trip to DV for their delicious buffet or a yummy take out order. What has happened? We went to visit mom for Mother's Day yesterday and decided we wanted Chinese. We walked in and a young man seated us. No buffet, but that's ok. We both ordered the Sweet N Sour Pork lunch special. Hubby asked if they had milk. "NOPE" says the kid. Ok then. Food arrives and it is A LOT! A lot of tasteless, carelessly prepared food. The fried rice was bland, seriously no flavor, and the SS Pork Sauce made our tongues turn red? I asked waiter if they had garlic sauce hoping to add any flavors..."NOPE". So the 1 star is for a large portion.. Oh and they didn't serve tea either? It's just sad truly. read more

Worst Chinese I've ever had. Service was good but the food. Gross. Just awful all around.

I'm visiting Georgetown and staying at the American River Inn right down the road from Royal Dragon. One of the guests said that she had just been there and that the food was good so I figured- why not? The restaurant has plenty of seating. We were greeted and sat immediately. They have a buffet for approximately $10 (I didn't check actual price but for 2 buffets and 2 cokes, the tab was $22.03, so it's a fair estimate). Before we sat down I looked over the buffet and pickings were slim but the hostess reassured me that they would be replenishing the food. It never happened. The flavors were great (I particularly loved the flavor of their stir fried green beans) but either the food was old and dried out, or completely scarce!! Not even the basics like fried rice were refilled. I did see the chef throw a few new dishes out there but, come on, every single dish should have been offered to me since I was paying the same price as earlier diners. In addition, the male server/chef was very rude (unless he spoke no English). He not only didn't acknowledge me as a patron, but he couldn't even say your welcome after I thanked him multiple times. I'll be back in Georgetown but will NOT come back to this place. 2 stars only bc I liked the flavors of what i was able to try read more

I went there for the first time in July 2021. We are newer to the area and have limited choices. Want to try all the area has to offer and I was sadly disappointed. The fried rice and chow menu were good. And also the orange chicken. But I ordered Peking pork and it was nothing like I have had before. Pretty dry inside and seemed like overcooked breading. I would consider trying this place again because I always give second chances, but it might be awhile before I do. :/ I would be giving three stars for the food quality and flavor, but I'm giving a fourth because the food was on time and ready for pick up and the lady who took the order and card was extremely nice and friendly! read more

The food was good, the service was not. The female worker brought over 2 boxes when we asked for four. Then coped an attitude when I told her I did not want me rice boxed with the sweet and sour pork. She then coped another attitude when I told her I did not want the rice boxed with the cashew chicken. She stormed off with the last divided box and went and got two little chinese carry-out boxes. She boxed the chicken and then the rice. But was rude. She male server was running around like a chicken with his head cut off for the fist half of when we were sitting there. My boyfriend could not get soy sauce for his soup and so had to eat it without it. But the food was really good. Need more/different help. read more

Ok, Georgetown is also known as God's Little Nowhere. We have few places to eat and this is one of them. Thank God they are here! Or many nights I would starve, and so would others here on the Divide. Is it the best Chinese ever? No of course not, we are in the middle of nowhere. But it is good, edible and if you have good patience, they will pick up the phone to take your take out order. Once they take it, they get it right. The buffet is fine if you want to go sit down there. In closing, we love their goldfish, who always seem pretty happy to be alive, and we tip them well, because if they go away, we have to drive like 20 minutes each way to get to Chinese. We stopped in there prior to out annual trip in the mountains. It was really hot outside so we were immediately welcomed by cool air and plenty of ceiling fans. After being seated the server saw I was very hot from the outside temperatures and kept my ice water topped off anytime it got low. She was very sweet and personable. After ordering our food my wife and I were very pleased with the quality of the food and the flavors. The portions very very large and the food was ready quickly. We were both very happy with our meals. I have been here before but have only gotten the take out but from now on I'll stay and relax for the meal. Use to love the food. We skip the buffet because if you do not get there when food is first out it gets old and dry. So we started take out. Always get the same three things, Kung Pao Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, and Honey Walnut Prawns. Usually wonderful, fresh, with lots of bell peppers etc. Last week everything but the Honey walnut prawns, was terrible. The Pork was so hard you could not chew. The Kung Pao Chicken was awful. The taste was weird and only two very old looking pieces of bell pepper. Totally confused as to what happened but the food was not fresh and we were totally disappointed. read more

The food is just OK so why the 1 star review? We went there to get a takeout order and the lobby was full of people getting the food. The lobby has plastic from floor to ceiling around it so the workers are safe. There was 10 people in the small lobby with no one waring a mask, this includes kids running all around touching everything and coming within a few feet of others. They do not enforce any safe practices except for themselves behind the plastic. It is pretty obvious that they don't give a hoot about their customers , only themselves. That gets 1 star read more

Boyfriend and I walked through the buffet to take a peek before ordering. It was 30 mins before closing and we liked what we saw so we went ahead with it. I grew up eating whatever my Chinese uncle cooked and ordered from Chinese restaurants. He took care of me after school. I'm pretty picky when it comes to Chinese food. The restaurant makes small amounts of food for the buffet as needed. Because there isn't a lot of foot traffic. They do need to stir the food so it doesn't get dry. Other than that, I thought everything tasted pretty spot on and the service was very good. I'm interested in trying menu items on the next visit! read more

Yelp has it wrong, this place isn't in Newcastle. It's located on Highway 193 near Main St. in Georgetown, CA. I've been going to this place for 14 years now, and I love it. I compare all my Chinese food to the Royal Dragon, and I can't find one better. The place is almost always busy, especially at night and on the weekends, so the service isn't super great. However, since most people get the buffet, the service doesn't matter. The food is good, egg rolls are awesome, and the atmosphere is nice. Parking sucks, so you may need to park at the bank next door, but for a small town place it doesn't get much better. Oh, and it's closed on Tuesdays, just to warn people. read more

Nice little place for a quick bite. The buffet can get low at times, but if you ask, they will fill up whatever you are looking for (Egg Foo Yung). Our party came in between lunch and dinner buffet times one time, but there was still plenty of food at the buffet. So we asked if we could help them clear it out. The best Chinese restaurant you will find in Georgetown. Okay, it is the only Chinese restaurant in Georgetown but it really isn't half bad. The place is popular, note that the entire crew from the Georgetown F.D. eats there on occasion. Yes, there are better Chinese places in Sactown and S.F., but then again this is Georgetown my friends. The buffet is small, but the food is replenished and is hot and tasty, so what the hell? The owner is really nice and the place is clean so what more do you want? If you intend to order a meal and then walk out without paying, I would hope that the owner calls the sheriff and you find your ass in jail where you belong and might even find a hair in your jail food. In all honesty, I was a little worried about going to a Chinese restaurant in a mining town in El Dorado county that boasted a buffet. But we had a hankering for some vegetables that the local pizzeria wouldn't be able to fulfill. So, we walked down from the American River Inn where we were staying and sat down for dinner. I think we were the odd ones out ordering ala carte rather than going all out at the buffet. We ordered the asparagus chicken, won ton soup, and one other dish I can't remember. It was delicious! The asparagus was small and tender, and the won ton soup wasn't your normal, run of the mill variety -- it had Napa cabbage in it, the won tons were good sized, not monstrous nor tiny, and the broth was tasty. For a small town like Georgetown it was a pleasant surprise to find Royal Dragon. We ordered a la carte and we were really pleased with the food. We did not try the buffet as we went there in the late afternoon and the buffet looked like it needed some replenishing, too small amouts left that may have been there for a while. The workers here are very accommodating-- my daughter is allergic to egg and the worker helped us find something on the menu that didn't have egg. She also was open to any requests regarding a change in the vegetables used, since my daughter doesn't like celery or cabbage. The worker was very patient and thorough. The wait for our order was shorter than expected (even considering that they have to remake one of my orders because of a miscommunication). The food was tasty (especially their Szechuan sauce!) and the prices were reasonable. Overall, my experience with them was great and I would definitely come back if I didn't live far away!!! read more
