I'd gone to the bakery here a few times before but never eaten here . Well I went for lunch the day after Thanksgiving and quite enjoyed it. Fortunately, unlike a lot restaurants in the Northeast, there are no blaring TVs.That's a real plus. I have some familiarity with Georgian food and it helps here. Everyone speaks English but English speakers are a definite minority here.I was in a party of three. The dumplings- Kinkalli were good as was the Pkhali( vegetable dips- ok two attempts at Georgian names). We also had two chicken dishes- the cold chicken In walnut sauce - which I'd heard about for years- it's good and and I liked it, chicken with garlic sauce and milk or cream which was my wife's favorite. We had dessert- this a bakery- a napoleon type croissant and two gigantic pieces of cake- chocolate and snickers. Again good. The one weak spot was coffee. I ordered Turkish coffee. To be honest, I've had better.Service here is little slow but not in the agonizing-/ when will I ever get food mode- leisurely might be a better term. It BYOB and I brought Georgian wine . Bring cash to tip! The server told us when we went to pay that it could not be added to the card, not sure why? But we did run to the bank afterwards and came back to make sure she got our tip. This was a little inconvenient and wish we would have known walking into the place first. The food was so delicious. Very quiet space especially for Sunday around 1pm. Couldn't tell whether the restaurant was open from the outside but luckily it was! The food is freshly made so don't expect it to come out super quick! The interior was warm and homely. We started out with the strawberry compote and it was delicious. I have never had compote before but it is a must have to compliment your meal. The lobiani came out first and it was huge. We didn't expect the portion to be so large. It was definitely a bang for your buck. We took home half of it and it was just as delicious when retoasted for dinner. The potatoes were cooked perfectly. They were wondefully crispy. The mushrooms and veal were cooked well. The chicken kebab is simply the chicken and a tomato sauce so if you need some starches to go with it then you may want to order something in addition. Unfortunately the tongue was out when we came. You can tell it was definitely freshly made. The crispiness of the bread yet the doughy and soft insides made for a great wrap for the raw egg that's to be stirred in and cooked by the piping hot layers of cheese! We got the "Georgian Dumplings" better known as "Khinkali" which is a Georgian take on the Chinese soup dumpling. You snip off a bite and sip the soup inside, then devour the entire thing. This Khinkali was by far my favorite I've tasted. The dough was perfectly rolled out and thinned and the stuffing and soup base had so much flavor! You could see the bits and pieces of the fresh herbs and cuts of onions/garlic/cilantro that were in them. This place definitely deserves a 5 star based on the food. Excellent food!! read more

This is an awesome place to get a great Georgian food from European Georgia not one of our states. The restaurant setting is reminding you a Georgian mountain village with pictures of Georgian Mountainous landscapes and displays of Georgian National costumes and coats. This fam loves their Eastern European restaurants, and we've definitely tried more than a few. To impress us takes quite a bit. I'm not sure Georgian Bread (one of THREE new Georgian restaurants in the northeast, none of which are affiliated with one another) made us want to covert from our regular spots in the area. The place is indiscreet, located in the middle of a shopping center. It looks like a factory or warehouse from the outside except for the mural of Georgia, the country, not the state on the side. The interior is darker, but nice with a grab and go section offering freshly baked pastries, breads and other imported goods in the front of house. The dining area had fresh flowers and linen napkins on each table, and is big enough to accommodate larger parties. There was also a stage for live music, which is cool. It's BYO and I imagine with the music and some bottles on a weekend night, it's a lively atmosphere! The menu obviously focuses on their breads. Definitely start with an order of something baked. We indulged in a stuffed version, which was tasty and baked well. We also took some home for a reasonable price and that loaf was oddly shaped, but good. We also had their take on a blintze, the eggplant salad, and split a mushroom soup, which is absolutely big enough to share. Everything was rather tasty, and the soup, while different than we're used to from these restaurants, was a healthier version, so that was appreciated. It was absolutely filled with veggies! The eggplant salad was very good. Served cold and spiced well. I really enjoyed the Zendazeni sparkling fruit drink in pear flavor straight from Georgia! It's just $2 for a large bottle to split, and it's delish! Try it! All and all, we enjoyed ourselves, and had we never experienced other restaurants with similar offerings as close as down the street, I think we we would've liked everything a lot better. It's not fair to compare, but we can't help it. They have some stiff competition and the prices here for kabobs and such we're noticeably more expensive than our other haunts. I would perhaps give it another go and order something other than what we normally get elsewhere to give it a fair shot without comparison, but for what we tasted this go, it was good, but sadly it wasn't our fave. I think many will enjoy it thoroughly if they don't frequent the other restaurants like we do. Service was friendly and prompt, but with a slight language barrier. 3.5 Stars read more

I don't know anything about the Georgian cuisine but the friendly staff happily answered my many questions about the awesome looking foods in the case. I settled on the Hachipuri which is a light cheese bread that was friggin fantastic. I had leftovers and reheated with apricot preserves made it even more stellar. I got several items for takeout, and went and had a picnic on a nearby grassy strip. I got Kubdari, which is bread stuffed with ground meat; a different kind of dough baked with cheese inside; and a dough and sweet cheese dessert roll. I liked the dessert roll, which was heavy and toothsome, but not too sweet. The stuffed breads I did not like at all; they were soggy and greasy. I also got a bottle of tarragon-flavored Georgian lemonade, which I enjoyed. The guy behind the counter seemed unhappy that I was there. I wanted to ask more questions but I did not feel welcome. Maybe I will return when the dining room reopens, to see if the food is better when it is fresh and hot. read more

They charged us twice as much money! Not only were the prices they charged us on our bill twice as much, but they also did not match up to what they had written on the menu. After we discovered that they were trying to charge us more money we confronted the waitress who told us "not to start with her". This is highly unprofessional and shameful. Whenever my wife and I visit Philly, her parents always take us to amazing spaces. All the food they brought out was amazing. IT was really flavorful. The bread with the sauce was really good. Went there today, and I was really looking forward to it. Checked out the menu online and had a strong recommendation for the place. I did truly enjoy the food. Waitress passed the menus around and said that the menus were old and prices would be a few dollars higher. I was really quite horrified when the check came, and the prices were about DOUBLE on every single item we ordered. Do not rely on prices you see on the website or on the menu at table. What a hidden treasure! Went here yesterday for the first time with my sister and a friend. All three walked away full and completely satisfied with the tasty and reasonably priced dishes as well as the open and friendly environment. We ordered a variety of dishes to share with helpful input from the staff who were attentive and patient in answering questions. We started with the eggplant and walnut salad. Then came the soup, oven baked bread with melted cheese, kebab, beans in the clay pot, and dumplings stuffed with meat, herbs and broth. Everything was tasty and fresh. Portions were generous so I left with a bag of leftover goodies! All three of us gave all dishes a thumbs up although I think the cheese bread, dough filled with meat and herbs, and kebab were my favorites. The eggplant salad was the most unique dish in both taste and texture. All great picks. A bonus treat was the big screen TV in the back... playing Sukishvili (the National Ballet of Georgia) who were dancing to traditional Georgian music. My sister and I had seen them live in Philadelphia a couple of years ago. They are a mesmerizingly beautiful and phenomenally talented troupe with a unique dance movements. Ask staff to put it on if you go! Adds a nice authentic cultural special touch. And there is a deli counter in the other room if you want some take away. I took a Neapolitan with filo dough and cream filling for dessert later ( was very light and not real sweet) as well as a container of cabbage rolls stuffed with meat and rice so I don't have to cook, tomorrow. My brother and sister-in-law had posted when they were at this restaurant a month ago. It looked great, so it was decided we would make it our next place for a family outing, and tonight (10-3-19) we did that. There were 7 of us, and each one of us had an outstanding dinner. The place is beautiful, the service was great, the food was wonderful and the company superb! We tried out all sorts of goodies. I wish I could remember what everything before our main course was called. My sister-in-law was the one that picked out a few things she thought we would enjoy. Taste buds were in heaven. Main course was an assortment of Kabobs. Chicken, Pork and Lamb. Tender meats with lots of flavor. For dessert we just headed for the bakery section, and picked 2 things to share. We had Big Hachapuri Po Adjarski (the one with egg) and it came out perfect! Crispy with just the right blend of cheese that was perfect temp to mix the egg in. Chakapuli with Veal had lots of meat and an amazing aroma of greens. Try it! And of course Khinkali were absolutely right, perfect dough thickness with all that flavorful meat juice inside.
