Ooooh yummy food!! I came here just on a whim and found this on Yelp with the positive and great ratings. It is a very casual restaurant in a strip mall but the food is unbelievably tasty and full of flavor! I ordered the chicken shwarma which came with two sides (I got hummus and salad). My husband got chicken kabob with salad and tzatziki and he loved his too! The garlic dip was out of this world! It is the best I have ever had! We even bought a 16oz of it to go! I'd have to say I prefer their shawarma (chicken - haven't had beef yet) versus their kababs (the latter [chixken] I found a bit overcooked/dry)...plates come with two sides and the Mediterranean salad is off the chart! The kefta kabob was significantly smaller than what we expected. Too lamb forward. I prefer a blend that is a little more beef than lamb. If you like lamb, you will love this. Rice=5 excellent. Hummus with chicken schwarma = 4. This was a good dish and one that I would get again. Fries=1. Terrible frozen fries that have that horrible coating. Skip this. Tabouli= 4. This was delicious. Baba ganoush = 1. almost inedible. The service and food quality is really lacking. The employees in the front didn't check to make sure the order was properly packed and everything was accounted for. We paid for three baklava and only gave us one. Our plates came with more rice and vegetables than protein but they charge you 15+ dollars you would expect there to be more protein. When we called to try and obtain money back for the missing items we were told to either go all the way back to the store or next time we come in they will "comp" them. My lamb kabob bowl had good flavor, but was just a few pieces of lamb, rice, and some shredded lettuce (only because I selected half and half, otherwise it would've just been one of them). Our family loves this place. It's a hidden gem that we just now discovered through DoorDash. We went inside to try it for our first time. The two men who work here are very polite and greeted us as we walked in, they were excited to recommend some things to try. I was in the area today for an appointment and decided to search nearby to see what I could have for lunch. Georgie's came up and the reviews were good, besides, who doesn't love Mediterranean food. My GPS said it was only two minutes away, so I set off to find it. It's located in a local strip mall with a Wienerschnitzel and a Jiffy Lube. Parking wasn't too bad. I walked in and was instantly greeted. It's an open space with a few tables. I walked up to the counter and perused the menu. I decided on the chicken kebab plate where you get two sides. I chose hummus and cucumber salad. I then sat at a table to wait. They are clearly making items to order in the back because it took a few minutes for my order to arrive. My order was brought out to me and looked great and smelled great. It was delicious. The rice was really flavorful. The cucumber salad was really good as well. Sometimes you get bitter cucumbers, but there were none in this salad. The hummus was also flavorful, and there was a lot of it. The pita bread was perfect for dipping and the garlic sauce was fantastic. The chicken was seasoned well, tender and juicy. It's a relatively new business for this owner, but he walked around and checked on everyone to make sure they were OK. He answered questions and offered things like hot sauce or anything people might need. I told him I was good but that I was gonna order some baklava at the end because it looked so good, he went to the counter and got me a piece to try. What a very nice gesture. That baklava was really good. I saved it to the end and I savored it because the flavors were just wonderful. I don't come to this area very often but I know I'll eat when I do. My only issue was the rice wasn't all the way cooked so there was some hard bits. But it certainly didn't take away from the flavor of the chicken. The owner was super sweet. He welcomed us when we came in. He told us a brief history of the restaurant and his family history which I loved! The restaurant was so clean and there was plenty of seating. I got word that there was a new Mediterranean dining destination in Oceanside and it goes by the name of Georgie's Mediterranean Cuisine. Georgie's Mediterranean Cuisine is located conveniently on Oceanside Blvd, across the street from Red Rooster, and behind Soapy Joe's car wash. It also happens to be located across from the Crouch St. train stop for the Sprinter. Their interior is simple and can seat couples and there's plenty of space for groups. It actually may be TOO simple and I wish there were posters or paintings depicting some culture. But at least there's a TV that plays cultural music videos on repeat. Georgie's Mediterranean serves up Mediterranean food that is a mostly priced under $16 and can be prepared relatively quickly. Their menu is comprised of hot & cold appetizers, skewers, salads, shawarma, wraps, bowls, sides, cauliflower, hummus & kababs. Their proteins consist of chicken, beef, shrimp, kefta, falafels and lamb. For dessert, they have baklava; both walnut & pistachio. They also have a Family Meal that has everything you'll need to feed your family for one price. Service is fast and friendly. Their bathroom is clean. I liked my meal a lot and I recommend adding their housemade hot sauce to your dish, it's got a nice kick! The only real negative I found here was the difficulty parking. There's no spaces directly in front and their assigned parking spots are on the east side of the building; but they are often utilized by the car wash customers. This leaves their customers having to park on the other side of the main lot. Overall, I think Georgie's Mediterranean will do well in their location and they are a nice addition to the Oceanside dining scene. read more
