Julian at the front desk was very proactive in making sure the repair went smoothly and was James who did the actual repair got it done. No more code, the car passed smog and seems to run just fine.

Specialize in transmissions? Or is it more like unnecessarily replace them? Why did AAMCO charge…read more$175 for a misdiagnosis? Again, do you or do you not claim to specialize? I was quoted $4500 to replace my so called shot transmission. I got another opinion from an actual mechanic and he completely fixed the issue for $300. Had you dropped the pan you would have discovered no metal shavings and a filter that needed replacing. And if you had done that, would you have told me it was only a filter replacement instead of the entire tranny? When I stopped by looking to be refunded my $175, I was told that the gentleman who dealt with would get ahold of me. Unfortunately, no return phone call. I didn't expect to be refunded but I did expect common professional courtesy along with an acknowledgment in accountability. From everything I have read and heard, AAMCO Vallejo is pretty consistent with this sort of customer service. I'm sure this review will be responded to with "We did our due diligence in diagnosing your transmission issues and everything indicated that a replacement was the proper course of action." Sure. But we both know better. The AAMCO corporate office along with the BBB will be notified of this matter. THIS WAS THE REVIEW I LEFT ON GOOGLE. As expected I received a response to it the review saying I declined to have my pan dropped due to not wanting to pay for it. I was also told that changing the fluids will temporarily disguise the underlying issue. So what is it? You never offered the dropping of the pan option so please quit lying. I went by your shop, left my number and was told you would call. After 2 days with no response, what would you expect me to do? At least Toyota admitted they effed up and gave me my money back. I wasn't even worried about getting my money back. Principal. Yelp is here for exactly the what and how it happened. It's your choice to do the right thing or keep forcing people to give accurate assessments of your work or lack of it.

I would definitely recommend this place to any women feeling this way, they are very professional, I felt very comfortable with the whole experience. When asking which services were absolutely necessary & which I could wait on, they were very honest about what could be done at a later date to save $$$. My 14 year old Ford drives even better than when I bought it 2 years ago after taking it here, well worth the service.

This review is long overdue. I do not provide many Yelp reviews. Service must be outstanding, or…read morethe opposite, for me to write one. Since I have been going to Vallejo Car Care Clinic for maybe four years, primarily for a 2001 BMW CI, and I have always been pleased with their customer service, this car shop (Gil, in particular) needs a long-deserved shout-out. Gil is super attentive and very honest. Less than a week ago, I took my son's car to Gil. It is a 2005 Honda Civic Hybrid that needed a catalytic converter. Rather than take the job, which costs a decent amount of money, Gil asked me, considering the age and mileage of the car, if we really wanted to proceed with the repair. He said the Honda has two catalytic converters and, while the second unit did not register as defective, there is a good chance it will soon. So, we decided against fixing it. In my book, that is a remarkable trait for an auto shop owner to possess. He will not say what the customer wants to hear, like how soon the car will be ready, just to get their business. When he says the car will be ready at a certain time, it usually is. In fact, I do not remember him ever missing a completion date/time.

Although I appreciate that they didn't charge a diagnostic fee, I'm really disappointed with my…read moreexperience. I brought my car in due to an intermittent gear slipping issue, which I had already traced to a solenoid problem--a very common issue with my Pontiac G6. The symptoms only occurred twice, very briefly. My check engine light came on both times but turned off on its own. I was still able to drive the car on the freeway at full speed with no issues. The problem only showed up during city stop-and-go traffic. I specifically asked if they could just replace the solenoid, and was told no. Instead, I was told I "only had gears 1 and 2" and that I'd need a $4,800 transmission rebuild--which is objectively false, as I literally drove the car 70+ mph on the freeway both before and after leaving the shop. My engine light was off before coming to the shop, turned on once at the shop, then turned back off shortly after leaving. There is no way my car had only gears 1 & 2 I know what that feels like as it happened twice briefly. So to say this to me is insane. Mind you wouldn't have been able to go more than 25 with out the car struggling they must have assumed I don't know a thing about cars. Possibly because I'm a woman and I went alone. They also claimed the solenoid was too difficult to access without replacing the computer and warned me about my car's mileage, as if that meant it wasn't worth fixing. But then, on my way out, they admitted it's a "really great car" and "this is the only issue." It felt manipulative. I decided to trust my gut, went to a different shop, and had the solenoid replaced--and now my car runs perfectly fine. No rebuild needed. If I hadn't known what I was talking about, they would've gladly let me spend thousands on a completely unnecessary repair. Trust yourself. Do your research. Don't let fear-based upselling push you into something you don't need. Also from reading the reviews it sounds like the routinely tell their customers they need a rebuild and successfully do the rebuild. (more than likely something very easily replaceable) However a good transmission shop doesn't just rebuild, they properly and honestly diagnose and repair. He also tried selling me cars on the way out. Notice how he hasn't replied to this yelp review and also told me he feels bad for me in the text? Very unprofessional I don't need your pitty I needed honesty which I didn't get from this shop. He also told me don't buy a used car you can't guarantee you won't have problems it's best if you fix this one with us. Also told me not to go to another shop because id want a local shop lol
