Several months ago, we purchased a Subaru Crosstrek from Gerald Jones, a very pleasant experience. Couple of weeks ago, we got a notification from Gerald Jones that the car had notified them that the Airbag had a problem, so we brought it in. What they told us was that the wiring harness under the passenger seat had been chewed by a dog and needed to be replaced for $975. Looks like one of his toys had rolled under the seat and he had been trying to get it. All of our interactions with Gerald Jones have been very good. I purchased a used RAV4 from this dealership after negotiating with John over two days. He was polite and professional, and we agreed on the out-the-door price before I drove 4 hours to complete the deal. However, several issues left me disappointed. Before I even arrived, I clearly requested multiple times that the car be properly washed and waxed -- it was for my wife, and I wanted it to look great. John assured me it would take about an hour, so I expected a proper detail. But the car was back from "cleaning" in under 15 minutes, and it was clear it just went through a basic wash, with no waxing at all. That felt misleading. I was also handed a dead second key fob, even though I had asked about key fobs ahead of time. No one told me it wasn't working. The next day, while putting in seat covers, I noticed the front passenger all-weather floor mat was missing -- even though it was shown in the listing and was there during the test drive. It had apparently disappeared during the quick wash. When I reached out, I got a "we'll check and let you know" kind of response. Fortunately, it was found later and they agreed to ship it, but there was no sense of ownership until I followed up. While the finance process was quick and low-pressure (which I appreciated), the overall experience didn't meet the expectations I had from a dealership of this size and reputation. Just found out they lied to me. They said they updated all my software including starlink and guess what Subaru of America said they couldn't have updated starling. My DCM needs replaced and their is even a service bulletin about this issue. So they sold me a car a few days ago and said the car was fully serviced and these things were taken care of. Please do yourself and take your car to another dealer. A little bit ago after getting my car from the dealership I noticed mechanics oily fingerprints all over the ceiling of my car. My father is a master tech so I know they are supposed to wear gloves to prevent this from happening. read more

I made an appointment for an oil change today at 1:30 today. I live an hour from the dealership and had another appointment in Augusta at 3 pm. When I made the appointment I asked how long I should plan on being there as I had another appointment in Augusta at 3 pm. I was advised that it wouldn't be more than 45 minutes. At 2:30 I saw my car had been moved and assuming it was done I went to get it. The service desk advised that they hadn't started it yet. No call to tell me it would be late and ask if I still wanted it done or if I needed to reschedule. As far as I could tell they might have left me waiting indefinitely. I understand that things can get backed up and there are times when a service department will fall behind. No problem there. What is unforgivable is their complete lack of concern or respect for my time. As it was, I never did get the oil change as I was out of time. I've dealt with Fairway Subaru in Greenville previously when I lived in Clemson. They know how to run a service department that communicates with the customer when issues arise. Even though it's much further from my home I believe I will be traveling there from Mc Cormick in the future. read more

So I've had a wait a few weeks to think about this experience before I post it....my husband brought our Subaru in to fix a particular problem. While there, they decided to do a "complimentary" check on the car. They stripped/broke one of the lug nuts and called my husband saying it will be 86$ to fix/replace that one lugnut that they broke doing a checkup we never asked for. Hubby told them that we weren't paying for it...they called him back and said he at least has to pay for the part only, which would be 12$. WTF? You were going to charge us 75$ labor for a 10 second job for something you broke in the first place?! I was livid and he quickly told me to drop him off at the front and he would take care of it because he knew I was going to make a big stink...it's okay that I didn't go in...I'm leaving a Yelp review about what happened so others will be aware of what's going on and warn others to tell them not to do the complimentary check up. I do not recommend unless you absolutely have to or if you have a Subaru and there's a recall that you have to get fixed here. Next car is going to be something other than a Subaru if this is the servicer in town. read more

We've been on the hunt for a bigger car for quite some time. We searched high and low for the vehicle that we wanted but knew we wanted an Outback. In full transparency, our credit situation is certainly not the worst but could be better so we knew what we were getting ourselves into at the start of the process. We worked with Evan and Kelly for just about a month. They were patient but persistent (which is what a good salesperson does) and answered all of our questions. I feel like everyone should know what they're getting themselves into when going car shopping... If you haven't done your due diligence and do not have a firm price of what you want to spend, sorry, that's on you. For years, we serviced our Crosstrek there which we bought in Athens. We've never had any issues with their service department. Always courteous and professional. They get everything done on time and are forthright about the cost. These guys are idiots! We did a search for Subaru's on Consumer Reports. I indicated I was happy to be contacted by a dealer. The only dealers that contacted us were too far from home. We found a more local dealer to make our purchase. In more than one very polite e-mail response I specifically told Joe Pretzello that we were going to purchase from a Subaru closer to home but thanked him for reaching out. Then he sent another e-mail, then another, etc. these guys at a Gerald Jones are idiots. In one of Joe Pretzello's e-mails he had my reply that Gerald Jones Subaru was too far and found a closer dealer from which to make our purchase. This Joe Pretzello dude is a clown. Joe, do you even read your e-mails? Come on man! Show some professionalism? It's now August 2019 and I continue to get stalked by these morons. I am writing to inform the public the Subaru bad quality. They brag on every commercial about the quality of their cars. They might be safe car I am not disputing that. But when you buy a new car, you should not have paint issue. When you take it to the dealership (Gerold Jones) they send it out for a paint inspection submit that to Subaru the car manufacture come back denied the claim to fix the paint. You ask why? Subaru states clear coat cracking and peeling is due to outside influences. Subaru must think you are going to drive their car inside. I have three other cars all of them are American made cars 2008, 2016, 2018 and none of them have this issue. So, this tells me that Subaru uses the lowest grade of materials. This is not the first time they have had this issue (Customer Advocacy Department, Attention: WRH-22 Recall) They have had on going paint issue for years now. Look it up you will see you might think of buy something different. As for the dealership you paid and the sold you the car, they have yet to be any help Gerold Jones has had my 2024 Subaru ascent close to 2 months now what have they done to help their customer nothing! They just keep your car in the parking lot and do nothing when you ask, they tell you the same thing they are waiting for Subaru to get back to them. So, they are not proactive for the customer at all. I don't think buying a car from this dealership that does not stand behind the customer is not a good idea. So to wrap this up I will never buy a Subaru again, and would really have to think about buy another car from Gerld Jones. read more

Update: 1 star for the simple fact that my steering wheel and column was put back together incorrectly when they gave my car back to me. This is the only Subaru dealership in a 100 mile radius so those of us who like to remain loyal, have a difficult choice to make: come here or drive all the way to Atlanta or Charlotte in some cases. My Subaru comes all the way from Colorado, land of Subaru's and Heuberger stickers are almost as common as Denver Broncos emblems when it comes to the bumper of a Crosstek or Forrester. I believe competition makes a dealership more acutely aware of where their customers loyalties lie and should another Subaru dealership pop up within 50 miles, I believe many people would make the journey to try out another dealership. There is a lack of personnel here when it comes to customer service at the Service Department but when it comes to Sales, I can get a person walking up to meet me in the parking lot before I even hit the door. This has been the first dealership in 6 states that has been so unevenly staffed. I bring my car, my husbands and my neighbors into this autoplex for service so I've been here far too many times so I believe I've gotten a really good idea of their operations here. My sister was looking into a Forrester but wanted it in white and the salesperson shut down and wouldn't help her at all. I talked up my Impreza and how much I loved it so she got curious and we ended up walking away because she definitely felt like they didn't want her business. When I do get my car serviced two weeks after I call for an appointment, I often spend about 1-2 hours watching ESPN or the news instead of running other errands I could be doing because they don't offer you a loaner. I know for a fact the Hyundai dealership down the street does, even for simple things like an oil change. I've often joked that I'd probably buy the loaner because I'm such a impulse buyer when it comes to cars, but this dealership has saved me a ton of money from not tempting me with a new car, so that's a plus at least! read more

I have some credit issues so I filled out a form online and they assured me I was pre approved. I texted them and explained my credit and that I could not waste time if it wasn't going to work. I needed to get a vehicle TODAY to get to work Monday. So if they couldn't help me, I would just keep looking. No harm, no foul. If we can't do been this, I totally understand and I'm fine with that. They ASSURED me they could make it happen. After 2 and a 1/2 hours of holding me hostage, they couldn't help me. And it is too late for me to go anywhere else today. I understand the credit being denied, but they could have run it before I even walked in the door and saved us the trouble and I could have gone elsewhere. Waste of their time and mine. These are the kinds of places that make people wary of dealing with car dealers, because they just aren't truthful in what they present. read more

I LOVE my Subaru dealer in Tampa, Mastro subaru. Gerald Jones Subaru SUCKS!!!! Mastro does walk-in oil changes and lends you a curtesy vehicle at no extra charge! Gerald Jones offers none of this. They want you to make an appointment for a simple oil change. They don't give vehicles to customers. Called today on Saturday, when I was transferred, they simply picked up the phone and immediately hung it up! When I call back I get a sob story of how they only have one person in the service department. Come'on! Subaru dealerships are not supposed to have decent review for sales and countless 1-star reviews for their service department. Seems to me like the owner is pocketing a lot of his profits and not adequately staffing the service department. I bought a used Honda CRV there with Nick who was very attentive and offered to let me stay with the car for the night. His confidence in the car pretty much sealed the deal for me. I was ready to buy 30 minutes before they were scheduled to close. The whole crew stayed late to ensure financing and had the car spotless and ready for pickup the next day. The car had over 100,000 miles, so I was skeptical but 3 months driving it from SC to GA to NC and FL with no problems. Very smooth ride and the professionalism makes me believe that they inspect their used cars thoroughly before acquiring them or putting them on the lot. Daryen and the other sales people went above and beyond when we bought our 2018 Volvo. Gerald Jones Volvo Cars is a wonderful dealership. We bought our first Volvo from them in 1993. We own three 16+ year old cars and anytime we come in for service they give us loaners, wash the car and treat us the same as if we had brought in a new Volvo. The service department is top notch. I am a engineer and I've talked to them and it's obvious they really know what they're doing. Michael the head service tech is amazing. My daughter and parents both have Volvo dealers in their areas. I purchased a car here less than a couple of months ago.. The level of service here is definitely a downgrade from Jim Hudson Lexus. When I drove off the lot with car, My friend in the passages seat later noticed a crack in the windshield. I clearly wouldn't have notice since It wasn't located on the driver side. I called the dealership and spoke to a Mr. Wayne who directed me to take it to a place they deal with. I went and they called to confirm that they would take care of the cost. I Ask the guy who would be contacting me when the windshield came in and he said the dealership. I never received a call and because I was so busy, I myself never followed up. Now I understand that's partially my fault because of the fact I should've followed up. Well it's been less than two months and during that time I've noticed that the crack has gotten larger. So then I followed up with the dealership and they informed me that Mr. Wayne was no longer with the company. That a man named Robert would reach out. I called twice and he finally returned my call and told me that he's never heard of this and that he would have to look into it. I informed him if he called the auto glass place,he would see that I was telling the truth. After that conversation I've called him twice and still have not heard from him. I didn't realize this dealership could care less after you drive off the lot. Now I realize that I cannot expect the same level of service from this dealership. I should have realized it when I left with my car they didn't even fill my tank up nor washed my car completely. REPLY to dealership: I have been calling, no one has returned my call. Ask your receptionist. UPDATE: Now Dec and called again because of the reply from the dealership.. guess what?? No call back. I now had to purchase a new wind shield myself. One instance in particular I'd like to mention: Jeremy R. and Michael M. went above and beyond to figure out what was going on with my '14 Outback involving some significant malfunctions that ended up being related to an aftermarket trailer wiring snafu. As a diagnostic clinician, I greatly appreciated the respect and courtesy they both gave me, and they kept me appraised throughout. I felt "at home" with them, and was never made to feel like I was being demeaned through the problem solving process. Today was my first service appointment with my '14 Subaru Impreza and it turned out to be a phenomenal experience. As I walked in, I was greeted and asked if I needed assistance. I was checked in promptly and was explained about everything that was going to be performed on my vehicle, including my notes made from booking online (great feature!). Plus, they upgraded their card processing machines to accept contactless payments (i.e. Apple Pay, Android Pay, etc.). It's nice to see that available to their customers for convenience! At the end of a months-long evaluation period and after having tested a number of small SUVs, I had it narrowed down to the Subaru Forester and the Toyota RAV4. I found the salesman at Gerald Jones Subaru to be pushy and arrogant so I opted for a RAV4 located just a couple of ,miles down the road. The Toyota salesman was low-key and helpful as I called him several times after my initial visit to obtain data. I really preferred the Forester as it was more comfortable than the Toyota and close to the same price. I would have bought it if the salesman had taken off the pressure and simply answered my questions instead of hitting me with a number of rhetorical ones of his own, one of which I'll never forget: "What's more important to you, a car or a price?" By far the worst service department I have ever encountered in my life. If I could give a 0 star rating, I would. We dropped our car off to get an oil change and check a humming noise coming from the back of our Subaru Outback last Saturday. At 5:00 pm they called and said that they changed the oil, but they did not have time to check anything else. We drop the car off again on Friday to check out the initial issue. They called at approx. 1:00 pm and said that "It "may" be both wheel bearings" We instructed them that we were going to do a single wheel bearing since we had one replaced 40,000 miles ago. They said that they would do that. Approximately 2 hours later the service department called my wife to say they had taken it upon themselves to break a bolt on our vehicle (which made it undriveable) and that "it was going to have to be broken anyway to repair the bearing (never called to receive consent to break the bolt). They also did not have the wheel bearing in stock, and had to order one (which arrived late today) so we were left without a vehicle for four days. When we went to pick up the vehicle, the clerk said that "it may be all four bearings" and that he drove it earlier today and hands us a check that includes the charges for time, the wheel bearing (that arrived today after 1 pm) and the BOLT THAT THEY BROKE! At this point I couldn't stay quiet any longer and demanded that we not be charged for a part that was broken by their service department without our consent (also leaving us without a vehicle for all-together 5 days), and today diagnosing an entirely new problem! The quality and customer service I received was beyond unacceptable, and the sheer incompetence was undeniable. I will ensure that I spread the word about the service I received read more
