We bellied up to the bar, as we weren't doing food & waited, & waited & waited. They weren't all that busy, tho there were several occupied tables. We let them know we had a Hop Passport & they weren't quite sure what to do. The hubs spotted the stamp & explained the process. (Possibly new staff & definitely 1st Passport of the year) We closed out and, again, there was uncertainty on how to process our tab with the BOGO beer. We ended up just giving them cash to allow them time to sort it out on their own & get us to stop #7, which is quite the drive. I had walk the dog, which was something different for me & the hubs did the precious- mine was ok, had an alkaline aftertaste with a grassy tongue & his was decent as well. Neither were beers I'd drive from Boise proper to get & we didn't try the food. Patrons were friendly.

It has a VERY locals only vibe. But once you get past that, the beer and service are great. I got to meet the owner and he was incredibly cool. He gave me samples of several of the beers and comped me a few stickers. They also have an awesome brewery dog who loves some attention. There was a food truck in case you need to eat. The entire interaction was awkward and made us hesitant to stay. An older gentleman did come out and try to be friendly, assuring us that was enough time for one drink. However, the bartender's sour attitude persisted. When we asked to see the menu, she replied with a highly disgruntled tone and an irritated look, saying, "We're low on a lot." That was our cue. My husband and I exchanged a look and decided to leave. We were made to feel so unwelcome and unwanted that it actually hurt our feelings. For a place that seems to rely on local support, the lack of hospitality was shocking. We left disappointed and will not be coming back. The Mother Earth beer I had the first time I believe was an IPA and it was okay but nothing that blew my socks off. But my latest outing I had with this brewery was a milk stout and Steve and I definitely had more fondness there. The Milk Truck is what we had and we really enjoyed this stout a lot simply because the flavor profile tasted so good. With chocolate, coffee and malty flavors this beer isn't necessarily highly unique with what they put it in it but the standard ingredients involved seems notches better than other milk stouts I have had. Maybe it's something where you have to explore on your own with this brewery in regards if a IPA is more enjoyable than a stout but for us the Milk Truck definitely won out.
