Ok, I thought I had written my review from the other day but I apparently am still spell bound from their French toast. I will say it in the back for all who are not listening... this place has the best French toast in the entire city of Seattle and maybe state of Washington. It is almost an air fry and the. The center is perfectly soft. They had a pair flavoring the day we called and it was delicious. I love the house freezer jam on it and I ate it with their corn beef hash. The coffee cake is truly the most divine item to eat. So so so so good and the soft but hard outside add a texture to it that makes even the nuts inside amazing for anyone who doesn't like nuts in their pastry goods. The freezer jam is so good they let you buy it in larger quantities and so my freezer is stocked at home. Honestly, the house breakfast casserole is to die for and I suggest getting two portions if you're sharing with folks. BEST BREAKFAST IN SEATTLE! Give them a call and order!!! read more

I'm so sad I only took one pic. I ordered the herb omelet. It was filled with goat cheese mushroom and bacon and was so delicious . I also got to try their French toast which was like no other I've ever had. It was like an explosion in your mouth of deliciousness. There pancake was bomb. We put our names on the list and it was a 45 minutes wait so good sign very popular. The scramble was good not too salty and a good balance of vegetables to protein ratio. The fruit was very fresh as well! They are operating at 50% capacity so wait times are longer. Food is good but may be more worth it to get it to go. read more

Geraldine's came highly recommended, but after my experience I'm not exactly sure why. We ordered online and found space under the community tent. I didn't understand how many mimosas I would get with a kit, so I ordered that when I arrived. It was a smaller bottle of brut and a cup of orange (or grapefruit) juice for $25. In my opinion, a little overpriced. Ordered the slammin and sub'd the pancakes for the known french toast. I think the French toast was overdone. It was hard even though some ppl described it as crisp. The egg wasn't seasoned at all but it was more egg than I thought I would get. The sausage was fine. Service was also eh. I asked what champagne came with the mimosa and the response was "I don't know" and when asked for help opening said champagne, I got some response about liquor laws?? I doubt I'll be back if ever I'm in Seattle. read more

My friend highly recommended this place as his favourite brunch place so I made an effort to visit during my trip to Seattle. Brightly coloured inside, there's an old school feel to the place. Local art was hung on the walls. I got the chicken pot pie and was expecting a pie with chicken filling. Instead, my dish was a deconstructed version: a chicken broth with chicken and vegetables with two biscuits on top. The portion was also smaller than I expected. The broth was okay, there were some pieces of chicken, the biscuits were buttery and were good to soak the broth. We paid cash and were given some coupons to dine there again. Perhaps I didn't read the menu carefully enough and hence the difference between my expectation and reality. Still, not sure if I'll do a repeat visit as Seattle surely has better food elsewhere. read more

This is my favorite breakfast in Seattle. French toast and corned beef hash are my top picks. I dreamt of that French toast when I briefly lived out of state. The omelettes and bacon, egg, and arugula sandwich are also quite good. A good fried swears by the chicken fried steak, but I haven't tried it. The only miss I've had here is the Geraldine's Casserole, which I found dry and bland. Important tip: of your meal comes with the option of an up charge for the biscuit instead of toast, go for it. IMPORTANT COVID UPDATE: They do a great job with safety and hygiene but as of August 2020 there is public outdoor seating adjacent to Geraldine's. I've used it twice and never had a problem getting a table. It is for use with takeout from ANY Columbia City restaurant, but particularly useful for Geraldine's and Lotties, which are adjacent. I was so excited because I love Geraldine's, but am not yet comfortable eating inside a restaurant. read more

I'm not exaggerating or using hyberbole when I say the best pancakes I've ever had in my life were here at Geraldine's. We just spent a week in Seattle and we went here 4 times for breakfast. They have a rotation of different style of pancakes, and we had both the sour cream and the ricotta ones. Seriously amazing. All the other stuff is great too. We mostly got pancakes for the kids (which we obviously ate some of), but I also had omelettes, and my wife loved the casseroles. Even the hash browns were good (oh, and the biscuits!)... Delicious breakfast in a casual diner setting! Our friends took us here for breakfast. We were seated quickly and our server told us the daily specials. I ordered the Slammin with over medium eggs, bacon, and the pancakes of the day (honey orange)! The pancakes were definitely the star of my meal! They were fluffy, so flavorful and some of the best pancakes I have ever eaten. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was thick and crispy. My partner ordered the Emerald city egg scramble which is pork sausage, spinach, sweet bell peppers, hash browns, onions and pepper jack cheese. He said was really good! We've been here a couple of times for our weekend brunch and always had to wait for like an hour. The weekend rush is just mad and we understood why. Cakes are my weakness and omg the coffee cake was an absolute hit here! We got the strawberry banana flavor but they do have other flavors on their daily special. The avocado and pepper jack omelette was tasty. Service was pretty quick. Another time we ordered biscuits and gravy and kick butt chilli. While the chili was pretty darn good, wasn't impressed with the gravy and thought it lacked oomph as compared to their other dishes. Came here on a Friday morning around 12 pm for dine in, waited outside for about 5 mins before a table opened up. Staff is really friendly and the restaurant is the perfect breakfast setting. We got the pesto scramble which was good and quite the large portion. If you like pesto this is definitely a good option. We also got the chicken fried steak with the gravy on the side. It was very good however I thought the chicken fried steak was fairly small compared to others that I've had. The gravy was really well seasoned and had lots of sausage in it. Open at 8, we decided to skip sleeping in and try Geraldine's Counter. Adorable and homely feeling, the food was fast, fresh, and delicious. Hand sanitizer and mask required signs as soon as you come in, occupancy guidelines, and condiments served in smaller individual portions. They are killing it in terms of COVID guidelines for the safety of their staff and patrons. The foods was amazing all around, but the standout was definitely the French toast. We were in town for a football game and decided to yelp for yummy food experiences throughout our stay! This one was a disappointment for sure. Our wait wasn't long for a Thursday morning, however, once we got seated our server asked for our drink order. I said, "coffee please". My husband interjected and said "two coffee's - wait, I'll take a sip of yours babe, let me get an orange juice instead". I replied "sounds good" - we sometimes share food or drinks ... the server looked at us and said "we don't share coffee". I said umm, what do you mean? She replied "we don't share coffee" - I said well, we would like one coffee and one orange juice. She had a face. She went to the counter/register and started talking s*** to the other servers and they were making faces the whole time. The rest of our group, noticed it too. I'm sorry but you can't tell me when I can or cannot share my drink. I'm paying for it and that's all that should matter. I didn't even finish one cup so if refills are your concern - that's wasn't the case. She was extremely rude and I can tell I was being talked about. The biscuits were bland and nothing out of the ordinary when it comes to an American breakfast. Given I spent $110 dollars, sharing a coffee cup shouldn't be a problem. read more

I love me a great diner, and honestly Geraldine's is the spot! I've been coming here for years and for very good reason: the food is just so delicious! Unfortunately I don't live very close so I don't come as often as I would like, and it's also challenging as they don't take reservations. Luckily I recently had an open day and found they are open during COVID, so I jumped at the chance to take my husband for his first time. We had a bit of a wait which was to be expected, but I knew it would be worth it. And of course, it was! I always, always get the chicken pot pie because it's not only incredible, it's dairy free! My husband got the mac and cheese, which he thoroughly enjoyed. And we got some tater tots to split, because how can you not! I'm so frustrated. I LOVE this place and food. Today I had to ordered to go, but it was supposed to be a very special breakfast but for the order of Biscuits and Gravy wasn't so good. There was no enough gravy for the biscuits, and I thought about ordering a side of it in case this happened and it came a total of 3/4 cup of gravy. When dining in, you'll have a load of gravy to eat with your Biscuits and this is so good! My daughter decided that morning she wanted brunch. Ok it's her birthday and she lives an hour away. So we used Siri for directions and it took us on an adventure to get there. Our daughter and family had arrived and call us there was an 45 minute wait. Sure that was a long 45 minute wait more like 2 hours because it 5 adults and 2 children. I stumbled across Gerladines this summer and BOY am I glad I did. It is now my GO TO brunch spot. I live no where near it and I make sure to find my way there whenever I get a chance. My first visit was their version of a Reuben, DANG it was tasty. Their house made sauce is perfection and the fresh cabbage refreshing. All their dressings are made there and you definitely want the ranch with the perfectly cooked fries. I think their biscuits are pretty much perfection and the freezer jam a great compliment, so I always upgrade to a biscuit *taste the biscuit, taste the goodness*. Speaking of perfection, the hashbrowns! Crispy, brown, a little bit of soft in the middle....all the textures and tastes you need from diner hasbrowns. The chicken fried steak is awesome, while its quite a meal, it doesn't make me feel overly heavy somehow. And speaking of lighter fare, the salads are just spectacular...back to that hand made dressing and fresh ingredients. Everyone raves about the french toast, and for good reason. They have a perfect balalnce of Crunchy exterior, softer interior, flavor and right sized portion. Came to Geraldines for breakfast with some friends with a party of 6 on a Thursday morning. 4 adults and 2 kids. We waited about 15 minutes while they set our table up. This place is COZY. Meaning, be prepared to be pretty snug with everyone at the table. The service was lightning quick and the waiter was very busy. So there wasn't much more than a "hello"and "can I take your order?" But like I said, it's busy, and being from out of state, I hear that Geraldine's is always busy. I ended up ordering an something similar to a Mexican omelette. Stuffed with avacado and topped with Pico de gallo and sour cream, with hash browns and English muffin all included in one order. It was fair, omelette was nothing to rave about. Now the French toast on the flip side is absolutely something to rave about! Crispiness on the outside and soft on the inside. This months topping was a blueberry compote and the maple syrup was great! I highly recommend getting the French toast!! Oh and can't forget the truffle Tater tots. Nom nom.
