Since it was dinner I couldn't go full dairy chaos and just order cheese sticks and ice cream, so I added a sandwich to the mix. After hearing about Milk Drunk from several people in the last few weeks, we are so glad we checked this place out! It 100% lives up to the hype- amazing double fried chicken sandwiches and even more amazing ice cream! I love the different variations of chicken sandwiches they have. We tried the original which had their delicious herbaceous green sauce/aioli and the Homer which tasted so fresh with the veggies and whipped garlic sauce that accompany the fried chicken. The curly fries are a must if you're here & looking for a savory snack. The ice cream is a must, too! We particularly loved the seasonal miso caramel and wish it wasn't only seasonal. There was a line out the door when we went on a weeknight, so I imagine a line is to be expected when you come by, but it moves very quickly as you order at the counter. You'll wait for the ice cream at the counter but if dining in, they'll bring the food when it's ready. I personally didn't mind having dessert first! I got the original chicken sandwich. The slaw dressing seemed a little runny and made the whole thing a little soggy. refreshing & light! I have always wanted to try this spot and decided to come here after dinner for their icecream. There isn't a designated parking lot, so good luck finding street parking. There's a residential neighborhood in the back and we were able to snag a spot, but the street was pretty full as it's also next to a brewery. In the store is a long booth along the side wall with about 5 small circle tables. we thought the portions would be small so we each ordered one. strawberry matcha swirl: the strawberry portion is a sorbet and the matcha is the milk base. the matcha isn't too grassy or strong, but you can still taste it. the strawberry isn't artificial or too sweet either, more fresh. pistachio: this is one of their seasonal flavors and so delicious! My cousins favorite icecream flavor is pistachio, but most taste too artificial or sweet and this wasn't. Her only critique is that she wished it had actual pistachio chunks in it mozzarella sticks: well seasoned breading & super yummy! the cheese pull is real. I didn't care for the marinara sauce on the side is a little plain/chunky for me but not too bad overall we enjoyed our items and will be coming back. I'm lactose intolerant, but the icecream didn't upset my stomach very much. The portion sizes and quality of the icecream was worth the price. Our first time visiting Beacon Hill and we chose Milk Drunk for a meal on a clear Sunday morning. This place is conveniently located kitty corner to the light rail station and man was it busy, busy, busy for lunch. We luckily snagged a seat by the window when we saw people leaving. It's a pretty small shop overall without much seating inside making it a bit claustrophobic given the small space and the line for food. There are some picnic tables outside but it was too cold for us given the near freezing temperature. The Homer ($14) - This sandwich is way too tall and can't be compressed well. It's something like 6 or 7 inches tall, piled high with kale and a thick slab of fried chicken breast in between the pillowy bun. It's actually really difficult to eat due to the height since it can't really be compressed, necessitating either deconstructing the sandwich, or taking alternating bites of the top ingredients and the bottom. The fried chicken isn't uniform in thickness, so while some portions are nicely moist, with just a touch of pink, other sections become tough and stringy. The breading is smooth and crisp and it adheres to the chicken pretty well, giving a fabulous crunch. I'm not sure how they assemble the chicken - I feel like it might be a bunch of tenders mushed together, then cut to size, given that the chicken is somewhat square shaped with clear cut marks on two sides. On top of the chicken is a large slice of tomato - I actually think for this sandwich, the tomato should be placed elsewhere, since the juices soak into the breading and quickly softens it. Underneath the chicken is a bed of crisp cucumbers, cilantro, and a rich tangy and very garlicky tzatziki. The top bun is slathered with what I think is a harissa infused mayo, giving more creaminess and a slight warming sensation. Other than the sandwich being too tall, I think the flavors are all complementary and the ingredient selection is well balanced. It's not too dry, not too wet, and not too messy to eat, other than having to deconstruct a bit. (4/5) The Katsu Melt ($15) - This is an interesting and totally different eating experience from the food Katsu Burger, a small chain around Seattle, serves. The very first flavor to hit is a very, very strong umami from either soy or Worcestershire, or maybe a mix. It's so strong it permeates the mouth, before eventually descending into a caramelized onion sweetness and fragrance, and finally a beefy flavor from the menchi katsu. The beef is really tender and flavorful, and is fried, albeit not with much of a coating, so it's not very crisp. Shaved cabbage underneath provides some additional crunch and thousand island on top some more moisture. Interestingly, the flavor of the thousand island, which I normally associate with being quite strong, is drowned out by the umami. (5/5) Mozzarella Sticks ($8) - An order comes with four huge mozzarella sticks, easily double or triple the size of the average baton. They cut 1x1 inch squares on the face of the cheese, allowing a 4 or 5 inch length, then bread it in a craggly crumb based breading, and fry. These are supremely stretchy thanks to the hot mozzarella within - I think we got one stick to 2 or 3 feet long before it broke. They apply just a bit of salt on the outside and a heavy sprinkle of pizza seasoning. They're enough to be satisfying on their own, but then the sticks are served with a cup of marinara. The marinara is a thicker consistency, fabulously sweet and acidic, balanced with salt and herbs. I think they add some harissa as well, given a slight heat and smokiness. It's the perfect complement to help cut through the amount of cheese in each stick. (5/5) Pistachio-Black Currant Swirl ($6.50) - This is an excellent soft serve. Unlike many commercial ones that feel like they are full of air, develop tons of ice crystals throughout, or start melting as soon as they come out of the machine, this ice cream is decadent, smooth, creamy. It's not quite as creamy as custard, not as thick as solidified ice cream; it's that perfect texture in between. I believe the flavorings they use are natural. The black currant actually tastes like currant with the bold berry tanginess, and is balanced with cream and sugar. I actually don't like eating black currant due to the strong almost woody berry-like taste profile, but it works perfectly in ice cream. The pistachio is a dull light green color, nothing like the almost lime-green color I've seen in the past. It has a fragrant pistachio nutty flavor, although it's delicate and doesn't stand up to the black currant in the swirl. For people who actually want pistachio, I would recommend ordering it separately. The black currant soft serve is actually vegan - I'm surprised that somehow they get it to be the exact same creamy texture as the pistachio! This is the kind of establishment Seattle deserves. It's a relatively quick turnaround after ordering, family friendly, and they choose not to gouge the customer. They lean into forward thinking flavors, and present it without pretension. The vibes are laid back, but when it's busy you are reminded that you live in a city. There's plenty of outdoor seating, but it will get busy out of nowhere. My biggest complaint is that people don't respect the outdoor space. We live in such a beautiful place and people just throw their trash on the ground or leave the area they ate at outside messy. This slows down seating for the next person amongst other things. I'll save the cultural critiques embedded into my "food" reviews in our city for restaurants that aren't doing well. They keep things fun by rotating seasonal soft serve flavors. A lot of the sandwiches are fully loaded and you'll have to use both hands to keep the spillage in check. Chicken sandos: - I've tried both the Homer and the original -- both are delicious. They also offer a "special" sandwich besides what is on the regular menu. The chicken is perfectly cooked with not too much breading and not greasy at all! The meat is tender and juicy and the sauces/garnishes compliment the sandwiches so well! If you're a sauce person, their sauces are also great, in particular, the green aioli. Sandwiches are flavorful as it is, but sometimes an extra dipping sauce is nice. Kale Salad: At first I was thinking, "why would you order a salad at a fried chicken/soft serve place?" but then I tried it and am SO glad I did. This was so good! I cannot quite place what the flavor of the dressing is, but it is addictive. Definitely recommend. Soft Serve: I'm a soft serve fan, especially when there is a hard shell dip! Similar to some reviews, and something I noticed in Seattle as someone who just moved from Orange County, CA is you'll see a lot of spots mention a spot being "the best" and it never really is the best and you just leave disappointed. I can see why a lot of people I know consider this area near the top for soft serve quality! My first time here was back in 2020 when this place first opened during the pandemic, when I walked with a friend all the way from the Beacon Hill Playfield to here to get their soft serve, which I remember being really good and before they did fried chicken sandwiches. I'm back five years later just to have their soft serve in this case. This was during a really warm Sunday around 2pm and wow what perfect weather to be able to either sit outside to enjoy the fresh air or inside to stay somewhat cool! The inside has a strong but pleasant smell of ice cream but surprisingly not of the their fried chicken, even though I saw a whole bunch of them fresh behind the kitchen. For ice creams, they serve a decent number of flavors, both regular and seasonal. Since this is only my second visit and I don't remember much from the first one, I ordered their matcha soft serve with Oreo chunks in a waffle cone. It's a regular flavor but I loved how creamy and cold it stayed while I eating it throughout. The ice cream melts in your mouth and pairs very well with the waffle cone, which was hard and sturdy while also not being sweeter than the matcha ice cream itself. This place seems to get very busy during warmer days so keep that in mind as you're trying to get here. Parking isn't too bad despite this being near tight streets in the Beacon Hill neighborhood. I'd definitely go out of my way to come back here for their other flavors and even try their fried chicken! read more

It was a hot Sunday evening and I was craving soft serve and was very curious to try Milk Drunk. They had a line extending outside of their building but fortunately they also have an online ordering system, and a friendly staff member gave me my order in the quoted time frame that their website said. I tried the chicken tenders & curly fries which both were unique and tasty options to find at a dessert shop. The standout here is their soft serve though. I had a chocolate/vanilla swirl cup with a hard chocolate shell, which I could tell was special from the first bite. This is both the best soft serve, and the most delicious chocolate hard shell I have ever had. I totally understand the hype and long lines you often see here, it is well worth it to give Milk Drunk a try. read more

My first time at milk drunk and I am drunk off of the Nashville chicken sandwich. It was simply delicious. There are so many things that are right about this sandwich, the toasted bread, homemade pickles, crispy chicken and for extra drama.....the Nashville sauce was flavorful and spicy. I would definitely go back again for the sandwich and there are other items on the menu that I wanna try out like their wings and the kale salad. Service was nice and attentive. Perhaps it was the way the chicken was shaped, but it was hard to get a perfect bite (all the fillings and meat in one bite). The mustard seed slaw, house pickles, avo, and green aioli were great supporting actresses Strawberry and matcha swirl soft serve ($6.50): The strawberry was more ice-y and matcha, more creamy and like a soft serve. Visited Milk Drunk on a Saturday evening mainly to try their soft serve. Soft serve: Unfortunately, pandan was sold out, so we went with vanilla and matcha. The texture was creamy, but the flavors were a bit too mild. It tasted slightly icy, possibly due to the machine's temperature overpowering the flavor. I've heard great things about their fried chicken from other customers, so I'm definitely coming back to try the food menu next time. Wait time: The line moved quickly, and we got our order almost right away. Customer service: Cashier was friendly and made sure everything came out as fast as possible. While working at the hospital, my team and I ordered Milk Drunk for dinner, and I HAD to write an updated review purely on the special I had that night. I ordered the Katsu Melt with a side of fries, and honestly this was one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. It could be severe hunger or even delirium after spending too many hours working, but I absolutely loved this sandwich. The beef patty was perfectly juicy, and I was surprised by how well the few add-ons added such a strong and delicious flavor to the entire sandwich. The swiss cheese and thousand island dressing complimented one another well, and everything in the potato bun was absolutely perfect. I texted all my friends about this sandwich telling them to get it. Definitely hoping that they'll add this to the menu again one day. This was extremely hype. read more
