After my collision, they took my car in on Thursday and had it completely repaired by Monday afternoon, which was incredibly fast. The bodywork is flawless. You'd never know there had been any dents or damage at all. My car is running smoothly, and everything looks and feels like it did before the accident. The entire team was kind, professional, and easy to work with from start to finish. Even though my insurance didn't cover a rental, they coordinated everything with Enterprise Rent-A-Car and helped me get a great deal. They arranged for Enterprise to pick me up right after I dropped my car off, and when my car was ready, I was able to leave the rental at Gerber instead of worrying about returning it myself. It was back to Gerber for me recently, after a fender bender (not my fault!) considerably bashed up the front-right quadrant of my car. It was drivable, but through a mangled hole I could see through the car to the ground. The other driver's insurance handled all of the coordination; Gerber reached out to make an appointment for a damage estimate, which I was able to do the following day. That visit took about fifteen minutes, but then I had to wait two weeks until they were available to start the work. I dropped off the car on a Friday, got my first update from them on the following Tuesday, then another on Thursday, then the final call on Monday that my vehicle was ready. So it was a week and a half in total, with contacts every few days to keep me apprised. When I picked up the car, for the most part it looked gorgeous, but there was a small dent and smudge of paint on the other side of the car from where the accident was. I was 90% certain that it was not there when I gave them the car. They were totally reasonable about investigating the possibility. We made an appointment to come back a couple of days later, at which point the manager Ben inspected the spot in question then reviewed the photos taken at the time of dropping off the car. The photos were inconclusive, so he agreed to fix it at no charge. I really appreciated the way that he handled this. I dropped it off a few days later and the work was finished the same afternoon. So after six total trips to Gerber, my car was back in fighting trim. It was a lot of back and forth for one fender bender, but in the end my chariot was restored to better-than-new and I was completely satisfied. Ben said that customer satisfaction is a top priority for them and his actions totally backed that up. The quality of the work itself was considerable as well. read more

Hard to understand the positive reviews for Gerber in Glenview IL, as it was the worst experience we have ever had with a body shop. My wife was rear ended by a girl who had USAA insurance. We were required by USAA to go to Gerber. It was a minor accident requiring only the replacement of the rear bumper cover. What should have been a 2 to 3 day repair took two weeks, with no communication from Gerber. We had to call them repeatedly. The first excuse was they needed to order a back-up sensor. OK, that's reasonable. When the sensor arrived they couldn't''t figure out why is didn't work. They let the car sit for the better part of a week until they decided the sensor was bad and ordered a new one. We were told the car would be ready the next day and then the cowards sent a text indicating the car wouldn't be ready until the following Monday. Don't ever use Gerber unless forced to by USAA. read more

The worst service possible. My husband had his converter stolen and when they did that they damaged his back door. I called my insurance and claimed it all. They referred us to Gerber Collision only to know at the end they replaced the converter and none of the other repairs were done to top it off they informed the adjuster it was not part of the claim. Horrible customer service. Never ever will bring my car or refer them to anyone. They did not even try to correct their mistakes. read more

You know when you watch a horror movie and a pretty teen girl walks into a desolate cabin or obviously ravaged house for help/to find her clique and you scream at home or the theater "NO! Don't do it. The killer is waiting there. Please don't." ~or~ The time you go ice skating with your pals and you aren't so skilled and meandering along and your preppy, yet athletic, rich gf Jennifer says "hey Adriane check this out! watch me!" And starts skating backwards to finish in an axle and slams into you so you're both ice capades road kill? That was the helpless feeling I experienced when a woman in a luxury car backed into me without looking. I was scared and knew what was KaBOOM was about to happen but couldn't freeze it and time out of the disastrous situation unlike Zack Morris in SBTB or guy in Butterfly Effect. So crunch in my whip's drivers side it was. Thank heavens my co pilot George was in his car seat and it was on my side, and thank you Gerber for making my repairs as efficient as possible. They went the extra mile to check me in & work with the rental company. The gentleman who handled my estimate and repairs was professional and poised. He was very knowledgable. I liked they let me wait with my tiny dog inside while the estimate was being done and had magazines and coffee. Those aren't huge deals but when I'm stressed and busy matter a lot to me. Nowadays businesses do the bare minimum and I appreciated their caring sincerity. The only improvements they could make are...Their Internet and fax didn't work when I set up the appointment which resulted in hours of phone tag, also wifi and fax didn't work the day of appt which affected insurance billing stress. But a cool surprise was my repairs were accomplished ahead of schedule. We can't control the "perils of Pauline" situations of a hapless horror movie heroine, or when a person splat on ice, or when cars accidentally collide into us- but we can choose a car repair place and for that I recommend Gerber. read more

Thank you, Gerber! Esp to Jason! Earlier that day, Someone had hit my car and left pretty good scratches on my back bumper. I went to a car wash/detailing shop and tried to buff out a few spots but there were a few deeper scratches and were reluctant to take out without damaging the paint. I was happy some marks were removed, but still very noticeable scratches. I wanted to get an expert opinion so I stopped in to Gerber GV. Jason was so so helpful, he went over every option and gave me an idea of the price range (he didn't do a formal estimate, just kind offhand based on his experience). Jason was willing to take my car in the shop and was able to pretty much get ALL scratches off just by buffing it a little bit deeper (he did tell me the risks of doing it), I was so happy!!! They fixed all the damage in a very quick timeframe, sent me updates via text and phone calls, and helped me get set up with a rental car. I don't like writing negative reviews on a public forum, but I had a very bad experience here. The shop was recommended by my insurance company. I had an insurance repair and added on a personal repair while my car was there. The repairs were supposed to take two weeks. Gerber had my car for five weeks. They started the work on the insurance part before there was even an estimate. Lots of me calling, no call back, nobody knowing what was happening. I was told several times that my car would be ready "tomorrow" and then it was Wednesday, next week, etc. They even told me the car was ready and I had a relative drive me there on a Saturday to get it and it was still in the back being worked on. There were two things that went wrong, a sensor came on, that was never on before and it had to go to Volvo to get repaired, adding another few days. Then something else was wrong when I was supposed to get it back and it had to go back to Volvo, who said it was from "lot rot" sitting on their lot for so long. I ended up paying about $800 out of my own pocket for these things. My insurance is good and they are trying to pay me back for about $400 after Gerber would not return their calls. I have a pretty generous rental car reimbursement of 30 days and I also ended up paying for a week on my own because it took so long. My insurance company said possibly other Gerber locations are better. read more

Last month, I had bought a (nearly) new car and was loving the upgraded ride, when two days into my car ownership adventure I found a note on my car apologizing for hitting it while pulling out. I quickly chose the Glenview Gerber Collision and Glass based on its stellar reviews, and am so glad that I did! I immediately submitted an online picture estimate, and they replied within a day. From there I set up an appointment to conduct an in-person estimate the car at the end of the week (I couldn't come any sooner). The receptionist was very helpful, Dominik assessed my car quickly and returned with a very similar estimate, assuming no hidden damages. My only disappointment was not being able to leave my car there for immediate repair, as their next open availability was a week and half later. However, I consider this the cost of enlisting the skill of this in-demand shop. Once I brought it in, it took less than 36 hours for them to repair the surface scratches, and I received two calls each day updating me on the status of the repair. While we didn't go through insurance and I didn't get a rental vehicle, they appeared to be well prepared to handle those commonalities. Because of their efficiency, I must've spent only 45 minutes total in that shop between my three visits. I paid with credit card and was quickly on my way! My family was surprised that they didn't charge me more for the simple remove-and-paint-bumper job, and that they were done so quickly. The car now looks fantastic and I feel so relieved! I hope I never have to come in again, but I will definitely enlist their services again if someone else gets too friendly with my car. read more

I had a minor front-end collision a few years ago and I took it to Gerber to have it fixed. Unfortunately, the paint started to chip within 3 months of the repair and now I'm in need of a whole new re-spray of the front end. I tried talking to them, but they said that the chips were caused from driving and not because of their paint. I find that VERY hard to believe. I took it to a few other body shops and they confirmed that there was no way a car can get that chipped from driving on a highway to and from work. They also told me that Gerber has a lifetime guarantee on their work. Too bad Gerber of Glenview doesn't honor their guarantee... Not all Gerber Collision & Glass are the same. Many members of my family and friends have had repairs done at the Gerber in Skokie and they rave about the work done there and how fast the work got done. read more

My wife's car was a victim of a smashing grab at daycare in Glenview. We brought it over to this place minutes after it happened. On this particular day the weather was overcast and drizzly all day. When driving by to go to the bank to cancel credit cards blah blah blah for being robbed I saw my car sitting outside in the rain with a busted window. I pulled a U-turn and went into the store and ask them to pull my car inside, which they happily did, but the fact of the matter is my car sat outside with a broken window most of the day. Furthermore, after asking extensively to remove all glass from the car because I have a toddler,I am still picking glass off of my floor. After a horrible day this was the last thing I wanted to deal with. I am choosing to take my business elsewhere next time unless this particular company rectifies their oversights. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place! They take pride in their top quality work, and in their top quality service. Everyone who works here is nice and accommodating. The girl at the front desk is incredible, and keeps things moving smoothly so you can get in and out of there in no time. Gerber provides text updates on your car, which gives great peace of mind. Whenever there was a change with expected completion date or when there was a change to expected repairs, you were immediately aware. My car was completed over a week earlier than the anticipated completion date, and looked like a brand new car when I received it. Not to mention, the kind guys who pulled my car out helped me to lift a heavy bag out of my rental, and checked on my oil levels when I requested, going far above and beyond what they had to do. I was the recipient of a hit and run. Complete front end replacement. These guys took care of the paperwork and payment with my insurance. They were very responsive and communicated very well through the entire process. They even took it to another Gerber to get the work done faster. All of the repairs were done correctly and faster than scheduled. I got quote for some minor dings and dents while I was there and the process was painless. Got hit by a dump truck a few weeks ago and my poor Jetta was out of commission. I work in insurance so I know the ins and outs of the claims process. I knew the fastest way to get my car back on the road would be to go to a direct repair facility. My insurance company worked with me and found that the Lehigh location could get me in the fastest. I cannot say enough about how professional and customer-centric these guys are. They got me in, explained their process to me, and how long the repairs would take. They made sure I was already in a rental so that I wasn't without transportation. They even offered to tarp up my back window so I could continue to drive my car. I got a call every few days with updates on the progress, as well as text updates. I was so impressed with this! They assured me every step of the way that my car was in great hands... I LOVE my car, so this was very important to me. The texts weren't just your form texts either; they were personable and reassuring! Stellar customer service. My car was done today and they stayed open late so I could get in after work and come and pick it up. They even offer to have you drop off your rental there and they will arrange for whatever rental branch you rented with to come and pick up the car. Staying open late and saving you a trip... Again, very impressed. Hieu was fantastic. He personally called (as well as another employee) to update me on the progress, and made sure I was educated on every step of the way. Someone hit my car while it was parked in the parking lot, so I was already irritated. Fortunately, the kid left his information with the building manager and agreed to pay for the damages. I went to Gerber, met with the estimator, Hieu, explained the situation, and he basically took it from there. Very painless procedure. Hieu arranged for my rental car, and arranged for payments with the other party all on my behalf. Tommy was the mechanic who worked on my car and he was phenomenal. He got my car fixed 2 days before it was due, and left my car looking better than I remember. I also have to give a shout out to the cleaning crew. My car is so clean. I love it. About a month ago I had taken my car to Gerber to get an estimate. Made an appointment for Saturday. Came in on time and had Bob James meet me there to get me an estimate. No introduction at all. Only thing he asked is what insurance I have. I have insurance but because of the way the accident happened they would not cover the damages. Had to pay out of pocket. Because of that reason I got brand new OEM bumper, fender and a headlight for 50% of what bodyshops charge insurance companies for. Yes they charge insurance companies msrp but they get it much cheaper. Bob gave me a price of $2650 to remove, paint and install bumper, fender and a light and to repair small dent on hood and to repaint the hood. It was bit much but i thought they are a big chain and they will do a good job. I agreed. Next day he calls me and says my radiator support is bent and bumper "might" not fit properly. I had called him back to tell him to replace the radiator support but after he said it would be $1400 more I said no. The next morning he calls me up and says that I have to replace the part because bumper will not fit right or to come get the car. I said no and came to get the car. The piece that was bent was not part of the radiator support. Radiator support on my car comes in 3 pieces and the work that was suggested was not necessary at all. He asked me to give his body guy $50 for removing old parts. I asked what do you mean. They work commission he replied. And that is when i realized I am getting screwed. Needless to say i did not give him any money and took my car to Chucks auto body down the street. They fixed my car for $1800 without having to replace "radiator support". He just pulled it out by hand. It was that easy. Chucks auto body did a great job and finished before time. 5 stars for Chucks auto body. I kind off feel bad for the owner/general manager, but at the same time I am probably not the first nor the last one that Bob tried to screw over. Sorry but employees that are in contact with the customer do represent your company. read more

They exceeded all my expectations. A guy hit my car lightly. I had damage on the right side where it needed to be repainted and my wheel fixed. I was using Statefarm insurance of the guy that hit me. When I came in to drop off my car, they had coordinated with Enterprise for a rental and with Statefarm. The guy from Enterprise (from Glenview) was there within 10 minutes with a nice car, and I was off to work. Super quick drop-off. I received daily updates on my car. It was done 2 days earlier than planned. The repair was fantastic, you couldn't tell at all my car was damaged. And when I picked up my car, I just left the Enterprise car in their lot, and they coordinated the pickup. Very quick pickup after work at about 5:45pm. Talk about an easy button. Enterprise was fantastic as well, really great service. I am very impressed with these guys. read more

I went to five body shops to get an estimate on my car yesterday. The reason why I'm writing a review for Gerber is because, in comparison, they took their time with me. The estimator, Ben, was fabulous. I think he did a thorough job and he was the only one that printed out the details on the spot. The other people told us they would email us, which takes away the opportunity to immediately ask questions. He explained what "R&I" stood for and what it meant, the breakdown between paint and body, and also a supplemental request. For that, the service was great and that is what I expect when I go to a body shop for an estimate. When you get estimates, you are shopping around. Good service factors into that decision. read more

Wow! I really wish I could give even more than 5 stars to this particular location. I stopped in this morning for an estimate because part of my rear bumper was popping out and loose due to a previous tire blowout. I had temporarily fixed it with Gorilla tape but wanted to see if they could do anything to make it look a little more professional. I worked with Ben, who immediately identified what was wrong and informed me that the entire bumper would need to be replaced eventually and that it would cost me anywhere between $800-$1000 to do that. I told him that I'm just looking for a temporary fix to hold it in place for at least another year until i get rid of the car and asked if there was anything else he could do. Well, he ended up connecting the bumper to the rest of my car with a zip tie which was placed so inconspicuously that you couldn't even tell! To top it all off, I was charged nothing for the minor work they did and my car no longer has a long black strip of Gorila tape on the bumper! I take very, very good care of my car and after somebody smashed my car I was extremely doubtful it was going to be able to look like it did pre-accident. Ben Palmer worked directly with me for the estimates and being a car enthusiast himself he knew what kind of result and parts I was looking for. Ben went above and beyond to make sure the parts I was receiving were quality and assured me the car would look just like it did pre accident if not better. Looking at the car now, you would never guess it had ever been in an accident. The whole team did a great job and the paint work looks great. Their customer service after the repairs is great as well. Currently one of the HID xenon headlights I received as a replacement turned out to have bad seals but they took a look and are replacing the housing with a brand new one from dealership. There was a very small clearcoat drip that dried on the edge of the bumper and they assured me it won't cause issues but they will have their shop take a look at it anyway, and if there are ever issues with it they would take care of it. read more

WOW. Really great service. I've been to other body shops over the years and I assumed they were all the same. Gerber disproved this - they went above and beyond to not only make it look like it did before, but it looked like it came off the showroom floor. They have service down to fine art. From the minute I drove in I was given exceptional service. They explained the repair process and how many days it would take to complete. They worked magic on getting the car completed many days before scheduled time and in perfect condition. Throughout the repair process I received text messages on the repair status. I was kept up to date on completion time. When I picked up my car was in perfect condition. Everyone at a Gerber Collision and Glass is a pleasure to work with and very accommodating.
