I can't recommend Great Water 360 Auto Care in Wilmette enough! After my 2008 vehicle failed its emissions test, I felt overwhelmed and anxious about the necessary repairs and the driving required to reset the monitors. John, the Operating Partner, was accommodating. He not only resolved a belt issue but also understood my anxiety about driving on the expressway. Although he was busy, he initially couldn't provide someone to drive my car, but after I reached out again, he arranged for a team member to take care of it. They ran diagnostics and assured me I'd be able to pass the test--and they didn't charge me for the service! Thanks to their support, I'm thrilled to say I passed my emissions test! Took my car in to Greatwater Auto when in needed a break job. I was told it was electrical. Purchased 2 parts, and 2 months later they still didn't fix it. When I tried to pick up my car was told I had to wait until someone came back from vacation. The day I picked it up, it took them 35 minutes to give me the keys. I then took my car to a different mechanic who said there was some rust on the breaks, sanded it down, replaced the pads and it worked FINE! Never was electrical. Never needed the ordered parts. And two months lost. While the people are nice, they didn't inspect the car. If they did, they would have seen the rust and addressed it. To Kirsten, I would NEVER go back to this company. read more

My drivers seat belt wouldn't retract or plainly work correctly so I stopped in and they said if I brought it in next day they would fix it. The service was great, the cost was proportional correct for the tax, and while I was waiting I noticed they have a lot of repeat customers, which is a really good sign. Great shop if you're not beholden to any type of schedule. They take appointments but if you drop your car off and leave, they'll let it sit and get to it when they can. The last time I dropped my car off for an oil change at 7am hoping it would be done in a couple of hours. They never got to it and kept it overnight. Most recently I called a week in advance to schedule a brake check and another oil change. Told them I needed it by noon and they said "no problem." Went to drop it off and had the same issue.... "whoa!...no can do by noon!" Why even take appointments if your shop cannot stick to a schedule? Super frustrating. To be fair, they do good work although a bit on the pricey side. read more

I took my vehicle in for a used car inspection because it was making a suspension noise. I repeatedly told the service writer about my suspension and power steering pump concerns. I received a call stating that they looked over the entire vehicle and they weren't able to find any issues, so I asked the mechanic if he looked at my concerns and he stated that this was only a used car inspection and he was never told to check anything else. The mechanic advised me that he will have someone take a test drive to determine where the noise was coming from and that he would call me back in an hour. After 4 hours no one had reached out to me so I decided to give them a call to find out an update on the inspection, the service writer stated that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle's suspension or power steering pump but if I wanted he could charge for new shocks based on the mileage. I went to pick up my vehicle and was shockingly surprised to find out that they completed a repair on my spare tire mount without my approval and charged me $30 to put it back in place. This was definitely not approved and when I asked the service writer about this his comment was I can go ahead and loosen it back up if you would like. I would not recommend Hillerich Car Care for any repair work based on my experience. read more

Well they are. Having it be my first and not knowing much about cars I was extremely relieved to find such patient, honest experts right away. My first time here, they sat down with me, explained everything they saw, ranked things that needed to be done in importance, and welcomed any and all questions I had and gave me the time I needed to understand and make decisions. Called for estimate to Fix brakes. Car Unsafe to drive. Told me to have car towed there toget estimate. Did so. Estimate very high so decided not to hire Them. So then I am told cost of estimate was like $122.00 for estimate, but would reduce it to$66.00. NothIns said about charging for estimate beforehand. If they had told me, I would not have had the car towed there. Had to pay the $66.00 toget car released. Would never go back there, or recommend them to anyone. I went in asking for my transmission to be looked at because it was hesitating when I shifted from park to reverse/drive. I got a loaner which was nice, but when I came back a few hours later (I had to stick around the area to wait for their call, but it was nice to have a car) they said all they could find was the muffler making sounds and rubbing up against something. Well, I was aware of the muffler and it was completely NOT the new drive-ability issue I was concerned with. So did someone even take my car for a spin to check my original concern? Actually, they wouldn't even have to leave the lot to feel it. Then, they said they fixed the muffler issue when I got back which I paid for. OK, well the muffler is still making that same old sound and nothing has changed. My car is still having the original issue. They were super nice but really, I paid for nothing and they didn't pay attention to what I really needed. read more

Just had car serviced there. An old but running suzuki. It was just there for oil and filter change but they noticed some problems...tires and some serious problems. they called and let me know the costs and then called back later to say that they knew that suzuki had a recall and would cover some of thec ost for free. Dan then took the car over to suzuki ( former suzuki dealer which still covers the recall) for me and brought it back. He is always going the extra mile for me.
