Gerber Collision Doesn't Do the glass replacement or repair they contract outside sources. . ... Our KIA was damaged by someone broke in to it attempting to steal it...... Gerber never told us it would be an outside source..... Guy shows up way too early no notice that he is on his way, still in pajamas having first cup of coffee at 7:30 a m. Also failed to tell us some parts not Available in USA so my car is still incomplete but they make sure they still get paid...... Had to call them back out here window was slow rolling up glass shards in the gears, why didn't he take care of that first time he was out here??????????? read more

That bit of human touch really goes such a long way in this world, especially when dealing with the stress of vehicle damage. The manager, Gary, and front desk specialist, Layla, were extremely responsive, knowledgeable, professional, and supportive as we navigated the process of our car insurance claim. That kind of thing can be a nightmare, but the folks at Gerber (on Adams St.) went the extra mile and made sure we were put at ease as they quickly and expertly went through their assessment. The story is too long and involved , but reading other reviews pretty much hit on every point. Poor customer service. Romeo is a complete waste of time and information. Back office telephone staff (which seemed to turn over a few times in two months)is a slight step above. Every time I called there was no immediate record of me, and I as constantly asked ...when did u bring it in? What kind of vehicle is it? Can you spell your name again? Are you sure this is the right location? John the estimator was nice and completely understood my frustration the day I went to pick up 2/14/24 and left it because it wasn't finished. Then the kid that did help me on pickup day and ( 3/20/24 , dropped off end of January)two months later was upset that his phone was screen was cracked.never did introduce himself or ask how I was or my name, ( poor kid is super large and breaths heavy, felt bad for him but still no excuse for poor service ) any time I asked a question he was put off because he had to look on his phone and that particular questions answer wasn't readily available,again blah blah blah.He was wanting lunch and a new screen. Used this place 3 or 4 times when it was South Hill, didn't realize it was sold and name changed until I dropped off, but hey what could go wrong,they were super great before, why should this be different? Well it was HORRIBLY different. Took it in the end of January. Was told in a phone call a few days later that they had the exact part in I needed . A bumper guard. And it should be done soon, Well on Valentine's Day two weeks later they text and say it's done . I go to pick up, job was only half completed. They wanted me to pay in full and then when part comes in they would call and schedule me in again. I thought that was an extreme liability for me. What if by chance another collision happened? So I left it. Needless to say after numerous calls with no ETA, because corporate has to approve and pay for part, (that's a new one, I guess there to big or must have lots of theft if corporate has to pay for item and get ordered through them. You would think John the production manger or someone in THIS BUILDING has the power to order and pay for said repair parts? Nope, only corporate. At least that's what I was told by John . No such shipment of said part anytime soon, Finally after two months I picked it up. Part is not the original brand as originally told....sub par at best. Just go elsewhere. No one was overly friendly nor informed nor interested . I could go but I've wasted enough of my own time just writing this. I will say that as soon as I picked it up and the texts started hitting my phone saying what a joy it was to service me and if there was any part of my service I wasn't please call me blah blah blah. I finally after the third that day blocked there number. Done. Run. Also I informed State Farm over a month ago and will update them today. They told me that they do a lot of business with them but have also received multiple complaints about them and are reviewing weather they will continue to do business with them. read more

It's a dubious honor to be a frequent flyer at a body shop, but everybody's good at something. I whacked my Nissan's bumper cover on a parked PSE truck and Salatino's made it look perfectly new in four days. Great customer service, terrific follow-up, I'd recommend them to anyone. One thing you don't see often is that they fully cleaned and vacuumed my car, which is a nice touch. Lifetime guarantee on repairs. Salatino's also uses an ecologically friendly BASF painting system with lower levels of dangerous vapors even though it's not yet required in WA yet. There's lots of places to get your car fixed, avoid pain and go see these guys. Update: Our new Volvo got broken into, went to Salatinos an it looks like it never happened. They even had to order special interior parts from the factory in Torslanda, Sweden, and they made it all happen with ease. read more

I showed up to get an estimate believing that this was still Salatino's. It was apparently sold to Gerber in November. I was still interested in getting an estimate. There wasn't a customer in sight and the young man behind the counter was very rude and stated that he would be wasting his time to help me with an inquiry I had about an appointment I thought I'd made. With no customers in sight, you'd have thought he might be interested in doing anything he could to get my business, especially as I was a former satisfied customer of Salatino's. But his extreme rudeness assured me that the character of this company changed with the name. So I moved on. read more

These guys did a massive repair job on my brand new BMW that sustained $43K worth of damage from a negligent idiot driving his negligent idiot boss' work van. The work included several third party vendors and a few trips back and fourth to the BMW dealership. It took a nearly 7 months to complete the job. 3 months of that was waiting for parts. Had the job been managed differently, I'd estimate it could -- and should -- have been done about a month faster than it was. For example, BMW had to remove (and later re-install) the engine and transmission so Salatino's could get at some of the damaged parts. The car sat at BMW for a whopping 10 days after they had re-installed the engine and tranny before it was picked up. I was so upset at various times during the process, I was absolutely enraged. Based on this alone, this might have been a one star review. However, when they eventually got the job done, the car was as good as new. Considering the amount of damage that was sustained, that's saying something. Would I use them again? Based solely on the workmanship, I actually might. read more

I couldn't be happier with the quality of work these guys do. My husband and I have had several cars worked on here over the years ('04 Acura TSX, '07 Chevrolet Avalanche LT2 and '09 Acura TSX). They always ensure that quality parts are placed on your vehicle, instead of allowing the insurance company to put cheap parts on instead, simply to save a buck. This shop cares about quality, bottom line. Our vehicles were always taken well care of, and detailed from top to bottom before being returned to us. They even handled the return of the rental car each time to Enterprise down the street, so we didn't have to deal with the headache of it and then deal with the stops on the way back to the shop. These guys have acquired customers for life with my husband and I. They're not a preferred shop by insurance companies, but in Washington State you can go anywhere you want, and these guys are absolutely where it's at. Highly, highly recommend them! read more

I'm very satisfied with my experience. My parked brand new car was slightly dented and gashed all along the driver side 2 doors, and fortunately the person who hit me set up a claim with her insurance company before I even knew about the accident. The insurance company sent me to Salatino's to get an estimate, but told me I could use any body shop. After getting the estimate from Salatino's I decided to go ahead and have them do the work, as they appeared to be knowledgable and competent and able to handle all the dealings with the insurance company. I'm very glad I did. My car is a very unusual color, and they were able to match it perfectly. (Apparently none of the body shops get the paint from the auto manufacturer; they make the color based on the color formula they get from the manufacturer). It looks just like new now. The damage was only on the doors, but they explained that the paint should blend in the body in front of and behind the doors. Whatever they did, it worked, as it's impossible to tell the car has been repaired and painted. They have a relationship with a nearby Enterprise car rental, so those folks came and picked me up within a few minutes of my calling. My car was ready a couple days earlier than promised. I thought I'd have to drive the Enterprise rental car back to Enterprise and then get a lift back to Salatino's to get my car. But no, the guy at Salatino's took care of getting my rental car back to Enterprise. That saved me some time and hassle, and I really appreciated that extra service. Another nice little touch was I got daily pictures showing the progress of the work. I'd definitely go back to Salatino's if I ever need to again, even if I didn't have an insurance claim to pay for it. Even though there are several other body shops closer to me. A crusty old gummer who hit my parked car and tried to flee brought me to Salatino's to get my car repaired. According to my insurance agent (State Farm) it is one of the recommended reputable places that handles insurance claims. Upon entering, I was greeted by friendly people and got a quick estimate. I had to wait a week to get an appointment (They are very busy!!) to have my car repaired. Once it was repaired, the excellent quality of the work really surprised me. They cleaned and polished the entire car. My six year old Toyota Corolla looked brand new when I went to pick it up! I wouldn't hestitate to bring another vehicle here for body work. BONUS: there are two car rental places (Hertz and Enterprise) within walking distance from Salatino's. It really was convenient and helped me as I rented a car during my repair time. read more

Upon entering their facilities, I wasnt pressured into any service like every other shop in Tacoma. The manager Kameron walked me through the best option and even presented alternatives. I am not knowledgeable about cars and it was refreshing to feel like I was not being taken advantage of. This is not good place for vehicle repair they took me for money and work the insurance company got paid $ 5000 and then told when I come to get my truck that I had to pay extra for them to release my vehicle which they never fix they pocketed the insurance money. I cannot say enough good things about Salatino's! In 2016 I was hit hard on 405, with the back end of my car taken off. Salatino's took care of me immediately, helped me get a rental car, and got my vehicle back in pristine condition. Fast forward to this month, and my car was involved in a minor collision. I was picturing a hefty repair cost, and possibly a week or more without my car. When I brought it in for an estimate, I let Cameran know I was hoping to get the car back in safe working order at a low cost. Cameran was able to tell me there was no frame damage, and he and his mechanic were able to quickly do some very minor repairs right there on the spot. Not only was I able to drive my car back home safely that night, they didn't charge me! Not only do they do excellent work, they truly care about helping their customers. read more

I initially had given a good review for Salantinos, however that has changed. A piece that they replaced has a bracket that keeps popping off. They fixed it once but refuse to fix it again. He keeps saying I hit a tree, I would know if I hit or ran over a tree or caused the damaged myself. Not only are they not taking responsibility for their shotty work but they also blamed me for scratches that showed up after I picked up my car initially. Not only did they performe poor quality work on my vehicle, but they also screwed up a friends car as well by not tapping off the windows and sprayed clear coat on them, which caused another week delay in getting their car back. If you care about quality, honesty, good customer service, I reccomend you take your car elsewhere to be fixed, otherwise you're just going to get ripped off and blamed for their mistakes. read more

Update! One year later and our car has been diagnosed with a broken motor mount. It is very unusual for a car of our mileage to have this and our insurance agrees that it is either from the original accident (which means Salatino's missed it) or from the subsequent alignment problem(which was caused by Salatino's not being good at cars). Poorly run business without a good sense of customer service. Although I was initially pleased with the repairs done at Salatino's, within a few minutes of leaving their shop, the accessories (heat, radio, computer screen, and side mirror controls) in my car stopped working. I went back to the shop and sat for two hours while they tried to fix the problem but were unable. They offered to pay for the dealer to fix it, but after the dealer called them with the bill, they said I needed to come back to Salatino's for the repairs. The dealer was out for about five hours of labor and I was out the same amount of time and frustration. I made another appointment with Salatino's (they said "drop by anytime and we'll get it taken care of") and arrived to have them tell me it would take ALL DAY LONG as they would have to take my car to the dealer again as part of the repair. I left and will never be back. By saving themselves a couple hundred bucks, they cost me many hours of my time and may have cost themselves future customers. read more

I am writing about the professionalism and the compassion this shop expressed when my 86 year old mother got into a bad car accident almost right in front of this place. She was taking a left from 56th onto Adams and was hit hard while taking that left. They got the car out of the road and performed an estimate. She was hit hard, not hurt, thank God, but the car was totaled. We didn't know what to do, as my dad bought it custom made from Mrs. McCann of Osborne McCann (no longer around, they sold). The manager, Jerad, let us keep the car there for 1 week while we were deciding what the hec to do with it. No charge, they fielded calls from potential buyers, I posted on Craigs List thinking many would love the car and either fix it or want it for the parts. I didn't post their phone number, I posted mine. But I couldn't answer the technical questions and told them where the car was. My sister was in a similar situation at another shop and they wanted to charge her $100 a day to keep the car there, hers also totaled and was an insurance thing. Geez, no more accidents family!! Anyway, EVERYONE at this shop were so nice and showed such empathy for my family's situation. My whole family will take their car there if we ever need that type of service, just for they way they treated my mom's situation, plus it looks like they do great work, lots of very nice cars in the shop being worked on read more
